This has been a very helpful thread, I must confess. But d thing av noticed is dat some people jst come to dis forum 2 ask same old questions dat av been answerd 1 tym or d other. But my observation is dat dey cud av gotten som answers if dey had gone online to check more abt dere intended sch. I understand, nt evrybody av 24/7 access 2 d internet, but u can jst maximize d little opportunity u see to read & research more about d sch u want to apply to. Personally, I've researched abt 50 schools, getting info abt d sch, d programme am going for & d course, d environment wia d sch is located & cost of living, tuition, availability of scholarships & assistantship, etc. This has allowd me to make a shortlist of schs dat i will be applying to. By getting all dese info ursef, u will av other pertinent questions to ask. Pls, d onus is on u to research ursef, afterall datz wot makes u a student. And people are here 2 answer any reasonable question u av.

Your GRE score is 295 and it meets their GRE requirement, and your GPA too. You can get admission into the school with your score, however you may not stand a chance of obtaining an assistantship (TA/RA) - these awards usually go to higher GRE scorers.

imperiouxx: I won't recommend such admission for him. When I have time, I'm going to search for schools with minimum GA requirements. It's demoralizing when your colleagues are enjoying GA but you're there counting what they make per 2 weeks. A Chinese lady colleague lost her GA for this Spring, she suspended the semester and went back to China.

bigfrancis21: My fellow ECE engineer. Welcome on board.

Your CGPA is okay, converting it to the US 4-point scale will land you somewhere around 3.3 or higher, which is much above the 3.0 CGPA benchmark. Your TOEFL score is also good. You're above the 79-80 TOEFL benchmark required by many US schools.
However, your GRE score is not high enough to secure you unconditional ECE masters admission in a US university. You should know that ECE is very competitive in the US that even the last on the list of the top 100 US colleges receives massive numbers of applications from within and worldwide (worldwide especially those wizkid indians and chinese) out of which they are only able to admit a select few - these which will be the best out of the whole lot. In order to stand a chance to face the competition, you'll need to roll up your sleeves, face and thrash the GRE. Suffice to say, you NEED to score, at least, 300 if you want to pursue a masters degree in ECE in a good quality US university.
Rewrite the GRE and ACE it. You can. Victory is yours.
As for your score sending, you'll be the one to indicate to ETS whether to send only your latest scores or all of them. Also, they don't average scores taken apart as well.

Good day guys. Pls i'll appreciate advice frm any1. I will be applying 4 masters admission in Electrical engr of Fall 2014.My undergrad CGPA is 3.77. Av done Toefl, scored 89, & scored 294 in GRE. But most schools av seen requests 4 GRE score of abt 300- 305. Am tinking of rewriting GRE so i can get berra score. Do u tink dis is wise? And if u tink i shud, wil ETS report both scores or d average or is it any1 dat i choose dat will b reported? Thanx, i'll be xpectin ur reply.

olarwarlay: @Dot1 - I know that feeling , i was so scared of the almighty Speaking section before my exams too but I ended up scoring 24. My advice is that you time yourself while practicing and make recordings.
I'll also advise you visit www.notefull.com , click on Free Tutorials, read the notes on the Speaking section and download the videos on all the 6 parts of the Speaking section. I'm sure with the tips on the site, you should be .

dommakavelli: Generally, You don't need toefl except on request from your school.
You can get an admission wit 2.1 and above. if your 2.1 is weak, you my go for a course based program instead of research based.
Letter of recommendation is required..

My best answer to your question is,
For your own good, Don't be lazy, search for a school and check their admission requirements.

Yvete: Grad school admission selection is a holistic review process - GPA, LOR, SOP, test scores and the current applicant pool (depends on how competitive the applicant pool is).
High/Low GRE score is not a determinant of one's admissibility. With Low GRE scores, sharpen your LOR and SOP, send out emails and give your SOP to someone to peer-review for cogency and grammar. I think LOR is a big deal, IMO.

virgin ice: Try schools dat say gre not compulsory buh highly recomended. Rememba admsn aint jus gre buh all d requirements( reference, SOP, toefl, cgpa, etc) moreover, early application is somtimes considered bfor late app. U can get it, it's all in God's hands. I tink U'l b fyn if oda requiremnts are really strong. Wish u best!

Pls i need ur advice. Am an applicant for Masters in Electrical engr. I wrote GRE few wks ago but my score: Verbal- 145 and Quantitative- 149; analytical was 3.0. I had a low score cos i wrk and didn't plan well enuf. Tho i saw som skuls dat accept my score bt am afraid dey wil choose peeps wif better score ahead of me. So am tinking of retaking d test. Wat do u tink
