Good day everyone. You guys are doing a great job. Though, my question is not F1-related, I figured I might be able to get some answers here. Please my auntie's B1/B2 visa was approved last Tuesday but she hasn't seen any updates yet on the AVITS portal to track her passport. Please, how long does it typically take to see updates after interview? She was told 5 days by the VO but now it is 9 days. Are there other ways to see this update? Thank you for your help |
Thank you so much. This makes sense but do you know if anyone has done it this way? Thanks a lot Gretmang: |
Hello everyone. Please I am trying to help my brother with his interview appointment on AVITS website. Once I moved to the next step, I figured that I made a mistake so I canceled the form and I filled a new form. However, when I wanted to go to the next step, I was getting the error message that "Duplicate Applicant found for this user". I have raised support tickets, called AVITS support team, filled a new DS-160, tried to use another email address to open a new account but I keep getting the same error message each time. Has anyone else been in this situation? Please what do you advise? I will really appreciate your help. Thanks |
idirect:Do you already have F1 visa approved? Are you in Nigeria or already in the US? |
towontoprecious:You should. I think, when they resolve technical issues at the highest level, they then start to address each ticket that has been raised. If you did not raise a ticket, you might not be on a queue for resolutions. |
Oshynana:So it's a B1/B2 visa category for my Mom and not F1. I opened a support ticket, explained the issue and uploaded a copy of the payment confirmation from the bank. After waiting a week or so, I just logged in one day and I saw that they moved me to the next step in the process and the payment was confirmed. Note, they didn't update the ticket that I created, they just fixed the issue and I closed the ticket. |
Ayomide98:Abuja. Never been in any pre-approval stage |
Sholex96:Looks like they finally resolved my issue and the payment is accepted. Now, I have been able to book a date |
Thank you so much. This is very helpful. Glad that you were able to chat with them. Please kindly drop update here when the site starts working again. I will do same. Thank you Captainsolo: |
DanteSilva:Please have you reached out to them? Any response? |
Please help me here. I made payment for visa interview at a First Bank branch on Friday. According to Avits, I was supposed to go back after 24 hours to pick a date for my interview. However, every time that I go to their website to put my deposit slip number, I am getting an error message that; "Given payment receipt number doesn't exist". I have already submitted a support ticket. I am not sure when they would respond. Has anyone ever been in this situation before? How did you resolve it or what do you suggest I do? Thanks for your help |
Hello everyone, it looks like the US have changed the website to book your appointment after filling DS-160 form. Can you please tell me what the new website is? |
Hello guys. I am new here and will appreciate your help in answering some questions. I am mostly familiar with the US immigration stuff so please pardon my ignorance here. 1.) I want to know if IELTS is required to attend schools in Canada. Does IRCC require that every student have IELTS even if the schools you are applying to does not require it? 2.) I currently live in the US. Would there be any issue if I am sponsoring my brother who lives in Nigeria to Canada? Would be be issues relating to home-ties? 3.) I know US mostly welcome students going for STEM programs. Is that the same in Canada or does Canada not care if you are going for a non-STEM program? |
PotentialNurse:I am 22. Is that too old to do a second bachelor degree or would going to the embassy with a graduate degree better? |
Hello friends. I have two admissions, one is a bachelor degree in computer science and the other a master degree in computer science from different universities. My undergraduate degree in Nigeria is not in science so I am making a switch. I have the following questions and will appreciate your help. 1. Which of my admissions do you think I should go to my interview with? I was thinking of going with a masters degree but careful since my first degree here is in Art. 2. The school that gave me graduate admission waived GRE and TOEFL. How often do VOs ask for test scores? 3. Without GRE or TOEFL, can I tell the VO that they were waived because of covid since most schools did? 4. Does it matter that I have been denied a visiting visa in the past? |
Good day everyone. I have a bachelor degree in Accounting with some work experience. I would like to change my career path by going for another undergraduate program in computer science in the US. Would this be a problem at the embassy? Would the fact that I am almost 40 be a problem? Thank you all |
bigwizzy001:Sorry for my late response. You don't see me here often. I think it all depends on the schools you are applying to. Most top and average schools require at least one of the tests. But that does not mean there are top schools that won't admit you without taking tests. Another reason to take the test is that it helps at the embassy. On scholarship, most MS candidates get their assistantship after their first semester as most professors reserve those positions for PhD candidates. But the best way is to identify a professor whose research interests you, talk to him/her about your common interests and request if you can join their research group. At that point, by default, they tell you if they have assistantship for you or not. |
bigwizzy001:3.16 cgpa is not bad especially when converted to a scale of 4.0. Some schools actually take 2.75/4.0, maybe you would need to do more searching. Since you are going for masters I would suggest you take GRE and/or TOEFL/IELTS. Try and ace the 2, get good recommendations and write a good SOP. Application packages are assessed holistically. If you should apply for spring depends on how far you are in the process. If you already took the above tests, you might give it a shot others think of another semester. Good luck |
Hello guys. Please I have a couple of questions; 1. What prep material is good for SAT and/or ACT? 2. Has anyone tried Magoosh? 3. Do schools prefer SAT or ACT over another? Thank you |
LagosismyHome:Thank you |
Hey guys. I am studying in the US and my parents woild like to visit me. Please I would like to know if I can pay for their visa applications from here or do they have to go pay at GTB in Nigeria? Also, can we schedule an interview for 2 so they do it same time and place? Thank you. |

I will suggest you go check the requirements for admission into your program on the websites of schools you intend going. Then take GRE and TOEFL. The responsibility is yours |
Bobority:You can text me whenever you have time then. I will be on campus throughout. |
borie4u:Hi, sorry I have not been on here in a while. I remember you are going to Socorro and I have read some of the comments from our great people here on your above post and I think they've done justice to it. What I would add is that, never give up, don't take a No for an answer, keep pushing hard but not in a creepy way. Sometimes people get opportunities to work with a professor after their first semester or even in their first. |
Bobority:I am honored to have you. |
borie4u:Socorro is a good place too, like 1 hour drive from Albuquerque, so whenever you are bored (because it's a small town) you can just drive to Abq. Cost of living in Socorro is way lower than Abq's |
Bobority:Responded |
borie4u:One here sir.... Standard of living is cheap but at the expense of American luxury |
imperiouxx:Yes, on the part of education, it's one of the best places. I also plan moving. I am close to that now. I go inbox you |
Bobority:I replied already. Please check your mail. |
Bobority:Babe, wasere, let's roll then lol |
