when CEO's are called in to turn around companies. . don't they assess what is systemically wrong first before jumping in to tackle problems? don't they ever ever come across the principles of Root Cause Analysis or Failure Analysis? Sure he should just get in and award another round of contracts to prove to Kobo and crew that he is working.

You may not agree with my analysis, but it is based on detailed research, especially on the power sector, 4play and others will bear me witness on this forum. Especially when it turned out to be a large mess in the end, highly disappointing. I will rather have a more focused approach with achievable milestones than pie-in-the-sky declarations that never come to pass.

If there are people ready to 'save money from day one' why didn't you elect them? begin the process for Yar'adua's recall then, since he has not performed up to your expectation.
I still find it difficult to believe that a sincere group of people determined to make a change and excercise oversight, not a President who in the hopes of leaving a legacy rushes all these projects in the twilight of his tenure, can not solve the mess in the Power sector.

With all due respect. . . .I just fail to believe that.

Yaradua simply looks like he hasn't got a clue, either with the mess he inherited or with the way forward.

its obvious YOU do not get it. . .is his job to unilaterally solve Nigeria's problems? If so, why bother with senators, reps, or governors? OBJ got in trouble with his whole messianic approach which you are advocating now 'the almighty problem solver' and we know where that got us.

I understand your frustration, but if you learn from our immediate past history, we've seen how the best intended 'rapid response' methods for solving problems have failed. OBJ came in all guns blazing and got sabotaged. . .will it be unreasonable to allow someone else pursue a different approach?

If it takes him a full year to articulate and initiate long lasting programs with real impact, I'll take that over the smoke and mirrors show we've had with lots of motion but no movement.

He IS doing his job, and I have not heard him tell you or anyone else that he is 'trying' - he has set targets, if he fails to meet them, by all means harangue him and call for his head.
Abeg ooo. . . .You no hear say this guy leave 6 billion naira after his time for Katsina

Bawomolo@

why should we punish one part of the federation for its natural endowment.

The situation is analogous to your low tax position onthe United States. You would not countenance
higher taxes for the rich to pay for social programs for the poor.

So also you should not distribute revenue that is generated from the Delta to other parts of the Federation in the name
of poverty alleviation.
Politics › Re: Sani Abacha Stadium: A Eulogy To Evil? by doyin13(op): 9:05am On Mar 16, 2008
debosky:
why the brouhaha over the stadium?

Abacha was not hated by most Kano state indigenes, they benefited a lot from his government as much of the North did in the PTF days of road construction and hospital refurbishment and drug supplies. Abacha was no saint, but he was quite good to sections of the nation, so in their view it does not constitute anything wrong to name a stadium after him.
When the Peolple of Kano can generate enuff funds to build anything, , , ,They can name it after Jehosophat for all i care.

Wasn't Hitler good to the people of his village. . . .Pick out the monuments they built for him

Politics › Re: Nigeria Foreign Reserves Rise To 58.3 Bln Dlrs(results?) by doyin13(m): 3:34am On Mar 16, 2008
Hmmm. . .Well with the North as presently constituted, there is hardly any way forward.

The South is basically subsidising a religious cesspit.

But the Cheap Labour and the vast expanses of Land might come in useful some day I suspect.

@4play

Deregulation of the Oil Industry I agree with. But it will not prevent the unequal eventuality which you warn against.

The South will prolly grow faster than the North in any case.

So I do not knw what manner of economic policy will stop the unequal development of the different regions. The result will be thesame

Are they not encroaching on our patch already as the Sahara stretches its borders.

But the current arrangement is holding the South back, not the Niger Delta alone. We should endeavour to make the South as Rich as possible by not encumbering it. therein lies the only recourse for the country.
