when it comes to in literature nigeria ,soyinka, achebe etc are outstanding, when it comes to music, tuface, dbanj, asa,m.i etc are oustanding, when it comes to govt propaganda, chukwumerije, nweke etc are oustanding, when it comes to govt stealing obj, ibb, abacha, atiku etc are outstanding when it comes to formulating good policies in the financial sector, soludo.iweala etc are outstanding when it comes to good governance (which is our point of arguement) fashola is outstanding(and i dont have to be yoruba to appreciate that) so my good friend, name the ibo man that has been proven to be outstanding in governance |
ikeyman00:my dear friend the people you just posted have not been tested in running governments. a good case is DORA who is now showing us her true colors (that woman can never be trusted with governance). so in your own world if i am not ibo or yoruba then i must be hausa? you stand out as a very intelligent person in a coutry of over 250 tribes |
@ikeyman atleast you called fashola for the yorubas (mind you i aint yoruba), who can the ibo's boast of that can compare to atleast a quarter of fashola? i'm also waiting for you |
@asha rubbish |
and what are those things that affected me directly that you know slowpoke |
Sky Blue:they are doing it the same way kai and lastma have gone above their brief's in lagos asha 80:are the pigs still on the streets? |
thats why i said its all propaganda, for those who are in kano or who have been to kano recently will tell you that what hisbah is doing is no more than what kai is doing although they are more strict |
it seems some people just like bringing unnesseccary issue, kano has hisbah(or what ever they call themselves) and some of youstart saying they are behaving like a country in a country, what about lagos that has LASTMA,KIA etc and several other agencies duplicating federal agencies? was it kano that was in the news recently on the constitutional inland water ways violation or was it lagos? if at all there's any state that is duplicating agencies in the country today its lagos(and you cant blame them, they are all due to federal govt.failure). you guys should stop your misguided propaganda! |
@jona and you got your stats from where? cause the local govt in benue that keeps making benue a state to be recond with when it comes to aids is oturkpo, an idoma local govt (no disrespect to the idomas intended). |
g ahead, mad kils yoursefs, but donts sacrifices fors nigerians they no worths it! do it for mi dogs ![]() |
ijaw oppose the dredging of river niger? hmmmmmmmn this is a pure case of a baby crying foul so as not to lose the attention of the mother. dredging the niger will be about the best thing that would have happened to nigeria economically, imagine what this will do to ports congestion as onitsha, lokoja, niger, makurdi e.t.c will be opened! anyone crying foul should be considered an enemy of progress |
@oyiza_mi dude you dont have to insult, the essence of such forums is for learning, now i raised a point you guys dismissed,i replied by posting sources from the net to buttress my point(cause i cant start uploading history books and documents for you) you resulted to insults! what i expected from a learned person like you(i assume you are) was simple, you could have easily replied "the tiv are not the largest ethnic group in the middle belt,so so and so ethnic group is - here are my facts! ilorin is not part of the banza states - here are my facts! as simple as that! insults dont make you right they only show your level of intellect, why not do yourself a favour by picking up history books/relevant documents relating to hausa kingdom and nigerian country facts cause believe from what i have read of you it will do you a whole lot of good! @temi 4 real credibility of my source? i posted links from thisday,bbc,britannica,c.i.a and you are still talking about credibility? why not help yourself and do a little research on the net while you are browsing, its quite easy go to any of the search engines and you are just a click away! it's all about learning and i expect to learn from you instead of getting insults for saying something 13year olds of these days know |
those guys (lebanese) are as much nigerian as we are and should be giving everything due to us-like incompetence in dishing out passports(me self neva get) ![]() |
so they want benue divided into three? dem Bleep up!they should divide them into twenty, RUBBISH |
tubabie:madam whether 7th or 4th(if i can recall it said arguably) one thing is clear, the tiv are the largest in the middle belt. as for ilorin, history is not always fair to us when we realise that that which we loathe is actually part of us. here is a short reading for you, "The Hausa Kingdoms were a collection of independent city-states situated between the Niger River and Lake Chad. Contents [show] 1 Hausa Bakwai 2 Banza Bakwai 3 Zenith 4 Fall 5 Sources [edit] Hausa Bakwai The Hausa Kingdoms began as seven states with a shared mythology with its founders being the sons of a Queen. They are known as the Hausa Bakwai meaning Hausa Seven. The states included: Daura ? - 1806 Kano 998 - 1807 Katsina c. 1400 - 1805 Zazzau (Zaria) c. 1200 - 1808 Gobir c. 1000 - 1808 Rano c. 1000 - 1800s? Biram c. 1100 - 1805 [edit] Banza Bakwai The growth and conquest of the Hausa Bakwai resulted in the founding of additional states with rulers tracing their lineage to a concubine of the Hausa founding father, Bayajidda. Thus they are called the Banza Bakwai meaning Bastard or Bogus Seven. The Banza Bakwai adopted many of the customs and institutions of the Hausa Bakwai but were considered unsanctioned or copy-cat kingdoms by non-Hausa people. These states include: Zamfara Kebbi Yauri (also called Yawuri) Gwari (also called Gwariland) Kororafa (a Jukun state) Nupe (of the Nupe people) Ilorin (a Yoruba state) you can get the full text here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hausa_Kingdoms you should take time and do further reading here http://www.britannica.com/EBchecked/topic/52280/Banza-Bakwai http://www.bbc.co.uk/worldservice/specials/1624_story_of_africa/page84.shtml history is not always what we think |
word to you guys, keep it up |
this might also make good reading for some of you ignorant peeps http://www.thisdayonline.com/archive/2001/12/08/20011208spe01.html |
let me indulge your ignorance and educate some of you since you cant use google search for research heres a qoute from c.i.a fact book "Nigeria, Africa's most populous country, is composed of more than 250 ethnic groups; the following are the most populous and politically influential: Hausa and Fulani 29%, Yoruba 21%, Igbo (Ibo) 18%, Ijaw 10%, Kanuri 4%, Ibibio 3.5%, Tiv 2.5% " you can get further info from here https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/ni.html those of you having issues of idoma being a kwararafa tribe might want to read this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Idoma as for those needing info on banza tribes read this http://www.teachyourselfhausa.com/ as for the igbiras i admit they are not part of the banza tribes |
idoma ancestary can be traced back to kwararafa kingdom(lower benue valley) they are related with igallas, jukun, chamba tribes |
the minorities are those that are treated like they dont matter and in the context of nigeria the major minority group in the south is the ijaw tribe while he tiv are the major minority group in the north |
the middle belt people found mostly in central nigeria, the majority people being the tiv who are found in benue, nassarawa, taraba, cross rivers, other big tribes in the region include the igala's and the nupe"s. most of the tribes in the middle belt can be classified as follows: 1.kwararafa = igalas, idomas, jukun, chamba, kuteb, bassa e.t.c 2.banza tribes = nupes, ilorin ,egbirra 3.tiv 4.yoruba = okun and co 5.nok = berom, angas, southern kaduna e.t.c most of the middle belt people speak hausa except the tiv, idoma yoruba and theyare predominantly christian |
IFELEKE:since you claim to know so much then i guess you are aware that the dream of apa state is now almost dead as more and more senators are favourable to the creation of katsina ala(joining katsina ala,tiv parts of taraba,zaki-biam e.t.c) state due to population and economic viability |
just read a great article from Akintokunbo Adejumo, a social and political commentator on Nigerian issues who lives and works in London, UK. He is a graduate of the University of Ibadan, Nigeria (1979) and University of Manitoba, Canada (1985). in which he stated that the tiv were in the south and the north before amalgamation and i qoute, ", The most bitter dispute was along the boundary eastward from the Niger to the border with German Kamerun. Once again we see that the administrations of the two Protectorates had come to regard themselves as representing separate countries with distinct identities. One sector of the boundary divided the Tiv people, one of Nigeria’s largest ‘minority’ groups. Girouard urged that the whole of Tiv country should be brought under his administration. To this Egerton replied that, since they were a ‘pagan’ people, ‘very similar to other pagan races in Southern Nigeria’, the reverse should be the case. ‘Southern Nigeria Officers have infinitely greater experience in the treatment of the Pagan peoples, in their habits and methods of government than Northern Nigeria officials …’ In urging the Colonial Office to transfer Tiv country to Southern Nigeria he added a number of other claims, notably Ilorin: Sir Percy Girouard and myself, however, hold very opposite views regarding the development of Northern Nigeria. Sir Percy is content to develop the country without assistance from outside and demurs to the entry of Southern Nigeria natives. I, on the other hand, think that equilibrium between revenue and expenditure can be best effected by encouraging intercourse between the North and South… At this time, the Tiv were still resisting the imposition of British rule. Since they were divided between the two administrations both were engaged in ‘punitive expeditions’ against them. Here Egerton stipulated that he did not wish Southern Nigeria troops to be involved in operations in Northern Tivland. Tiredly, Bull in the Colonial Office minuted to a colleague: ‘As one expected, he (Egerton) is very jealous of the boundary between Southern and Northern Nigeria.’, " please i'd like to know, were the tiv southern or northern? and please this has nothing to do with ethnic bashing or anything just purely seeking knowledge. the rest of the article can be gotten at http://www.nigeriansinamerica.com/articles/3151/2/History-Lesson-101--Lugard-And-Colonial-Nigeria--Towards-An-Identity/Page2.html#postedcomment |
