Russia's FSB security service told President Vladimir Putin that 11 people had been detained following Friday's deadly attack near Moscow, including four people directly involved, Interfax cited the Kremlin as saying on Saturday.

It said FSB security service chief Alexander Bortnikov had reported to President Vladimir Putin that those detained included "four terrorists" and that the service was working to identify their accomplices.

Russia's Investigative Committee said the death toll rose to 93 from the attack in which camouflage-clad gunmen opened fire with automatic weapons at concertgoers near the capital on Friday.

Russian lawmaker Alexander Khinshtein said the attackers had fled in a Renault vehicle that was spotted by police in the Bryansk region, about 340 km (210 miles) southwest of Moscow on Friday night, and disobeyed instructions to stop.

While two were arrested after a car chase, two others fled into a forest, but they were later caught and arrested as confirmed by the Kremlin.

Meanwhile, Interfax quoted the FSB security service as saying that four suspects directly involved in the deadly attack near Moscow on Friday were heading toward Russia's border with Ukraine when they were apprehended early on Saturday.

They had contacts on the Ukrainian side, the security service confirmed, adding that the attack had been carefully planned and the perpetrators had weapons prepared in advance in a cache.

"After committing the terrorist attack, the criminals intended to cross the Russian-Ukrainian border and had relevant contacts on the Ukrainian side of the border," the FSB said, confirming that work is underway to determine all the circumstances of the incident.

On his part, Russian lawmaker and former general Andrei Kartapolov was quoted by Ria Novosti as saying that if Ukraine is found to be behind Friday's attack that killed at least 93 people near Moscow there should be a clear answer on the battlefield.

ISIS earlier claimed responsibility for the attack in a short statement released by Amaq, an ISIS-affiliated news agency, on Telegram on March 22 without giving any evidence.

Pope Francis on Sunday condemned an Israeli attack on the only Catholic church in Gaza as “terrorism.”
The Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem, the Catholic authority in the region, said Saturday that the Holy Family Church’s compound in Gaza City was under Israeli bombardment and that Israeli Defense Forces snipers killed two women on the grounds.

“A sniper of the IDF murdered two Christian women inside the Holy Family Parish in Gaza, where the majority of Christian families have taken refuge since the start of the war,” the patriarchate said.
The two women, an elderly woman and her daughter, were shot and killed while walking to a nun convent on the grounds of the parish, and seven more people were wounded by gunfire. “No warning was given, no notification was provided. They were shot in cold blood inside the premises of the parish, where there are no belligerents,” the patriarchate said.

The patriarchate said that earlier in the day, IDF tank fire targeted the Convent of the Sisters of Mother Theresa on the parish grounds, where 54 disabled persons live. The Israeli attack destroyed the building’s generator, its only source of electricity, as well as its fuel and water resources. The tank fire left the home uninhabitable, and the 54 people who lived there “are currently displaced and without access to the respirators that some of them need to survive.”

According to Vatican News, Israelis have claimed a rocket launcher is present at the parish, but Catholic authorities say there are only unarmed civilians on the compound. Pope Francis said on the parish grounds there are “no terrorists, but families, children, people who are sick and have disabilities, and nuns” and that in Gaza, “unarmed civilians are the targets of bombings and gunfire.”

The pope named the two Christian women who were killed, Nahida Khalil Anton and her daughter, Samar Kamal Anton.

A few days after killing hundreds of people by bombing a hospital in the Gaza Strip, Israel has threatened to attack yet another such facility in the coastal sliver, which has come to house thousands of Palestinians.

On Friday, Reuters cited the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) as saying that the Israeli military had warned it to "immediately evacuate" Gaza's al-Quds hospital.

The facility is currently rendering services to more than 400 patients. It has also turned into a refuge for around 12,000 Palestinians, who have fled there amid a relentless Israeli war that has been pounding the Palestinian territory since October 7. The war has so far claimed more than 4,000 people.

The PRCS described "70%" of the displaced Palestinians inside the hospital as "children and women," saying they "are in imminent danger."

"This place could turn to ashes if those threats are carried out," it said, asking, "Is there a world power capable of stopping the threats of the Israeli occupation army to bomb hospitals with innocent civilians inside?"

The Palestinian Red Crescent issued an urgent appeal to the international community, saying, "We call on the world to take immediate and urgent action to prevent a new massacre like the one that occurred on the al-Ahli Baptist Hospital."

More than 500 people lost their lives in an Israeli airstrike against al-Ahli Baptist Hospital in Gaza City on Tuesday. Thousands of Palestinians were present at the facility when the attack took place.

The Israeli military says it is unable to “officially” substantiate the heinous allegation

US officials have backtracked after President Joe Biden claimed to have seen “confirmed pictures” of Palestinian militants “beheading children” in Israel, explaining that he had seen no images and was merely relaying claims from the Israeli government and media reports.

While Biden declared in an address to Jewish leaders on Wednesday that he was shocked by photos depicting brutal acts against Israeli babies, a White House spokesperson later told the Washington Post that officials were unaware of the pictures the president claimed to have seen. They added that they had no independent confirmation of reports that children were beheaded during a Hamas attack on Israel last weekend, despite Biden’s claim of having seen “confirmed” images.

“The president based his comments about the alleged atrocities on the claims from [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu’s spokesman and media reports from Israel,” the Post reported, citing the White House.

Asked about the claim by The Intercept, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said it could not “confirm it officially,” but stressed that “you can assume it happened and believe the report.”

“Women, children, toddlers, and elderly were brutally butchered in an ISIS way of action and we are aware of the heinous acts Hamas is capable of,” an IDF spokesperson told the outlet.

A number of similar allegations have made the rounds following the surprise attack by Palestinian armed groups last Saturday, including claims that fighters had raped Israeli women. Biden also echoed those charges earlier this week, saying that women had been “raped, assaulted [and] paraded as trophies.” The accusation also remains unverified, with the Los Angeles Times appending an editor’s note to a recent op-ed noting that “such reports have not been substantiated.”

Israel has sustained heavy human and material losses on the first day of the unprecedented large-scale Palestinian attack.

Palestinian armed factions in the Gaza Strip led by the Hamas Movement launched the surprise attack on the morning of October 7.

The attack, codenamed “Al-Qasa Flood,” began with a barrage of hundreds of rockets that targeted southern and central Israel. Several groups of Palestinian fighters later infiltrate nearby settlements and military positions from land, sea and air.

At least 350 people were killed on the first day of the attack. The Israeli Ministry of Health said that 1,864 others were wounded. Among them are currently 19 in critical condition, 326 seriously wounded and 359 in moderate condition. There are also 821 people lightly wounded and 20 being treated for traumatic stress. An additional 223 people are under medical supervision.

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) published on October 8 the names of 26 service members who were killed during clashes with Palestinian fighters at settlement and military positions near Gaza Strip during the past day.


Among those killed there were the following officers:

**Colonel Jonathan Steinberg, 42, the commander of the Nahal Brigade;
**Lieutenant Colonel Sahar Machluf, 36, the commander of the 481st Signal Battalion;
**Major Chen Buchris, 26, the deputy commander of the elite special reconnaissance Maglan unit;
**Captain Adir Ovadi, 23, a commander in the Home Front Command;
**Captain Yotam Ben Bassat, 24, a commander in the Multidimensional Unit;
**Lieutenant Or Moses, 22, a commander in the Home Front Command;
**Lieutenant Yiftah Yaabetz, 23, a commander in Maglan;
**Lieutenant Menashe Yoav Maliev, 19, an officer in the 7th Armored Brigade;
**Lieutenant Or Yosef Ran, 29, a commander in Duvdevan;
**Lieutenant Ido Edri, 24, an infantry officer;
**2nd Lieutenant Adar Ben Simon, 20, a commander in the Home Front Command;
**2nd Lieutenant Yanai Kaminka, 20, a commander in the Home Front Command.
At least 30 other of those killed in the attack were police officers. The remaining fatalities were mostly civilians, some of whom are foreign nationals.

The IDF also sustained heavy losses in equipment. The Russian Rybar news channel on Telegram listed the following documented equipment losses:

**Seven Merkava Mark III and IV were lost: two were destroyed, three were damaged and captured and two others were captured in a working condition;
**Two Namer heavy armored personnel carriers were captured in working condition;
**12 Achzarit and M113 armored personnel carriers were captured in working condition;
**Two mine-resistant ambush-protected vehicles were captured in working condition;
**More than ten Humvee and other high mobility vehicles were captured in working condition;
**Three D9R armored bulldozers were captured in working condition;
**Three HEMTT 8×8 heavy tactical trucks were captured in working condition;
**Three FMTV 6×6 medium tactical trucks were captured in working conditions;

While some of the lighter captured vehicles were taken back to Gaza, it is very likely that heavier ones were sabotaged or completely destroyed by Palestinian fighters.

In addition, more than 3,000 rockets launched from Gaza damaged dozens of houses and hundreds of cars in southern and central Israel. The Rutenberg Power Station near Ashkelon city was also badly damaged.

Overall, the Palestinian attack was a major blow to Israel. The Israeli intelligence failed to predict the attack, while the military and security forces failed to deal with it. As of October 8, many areas outside of Gaza are still under the control of Palestinian fighters.
