My friend stop trying to fool yourself. It's part of the comment you made claiming that 'big estates on Lagos island won't stop an ordinary police once you are on uniform' that I was responding to. If your claim is true those guards don't understand the sensitive nature of their job because it means any criminal can just put on police or millitary uniform and gain access to the estate!

On the CP matter with the guards, I don't believe a mere fact that a commissioner of police identified himself is enough reason for the security guards manning the estate to allow him in without following procedure.

Who did the CP want see? Was it on appointment? Were the security guards informed about his coming and authorized to let him in? If not, didn't the CP have the phone number of the person he wanted to see? If he had the person's number what stopped him from calling the person?

On the other hand, if the CP's mission was to carry out some search or make arrest, did he go with search warrant or arrest warrant? Search warrant and arrest warrant are the only things any police officer needs to legally enter any residential area unopposed; anything less than that amounts to violation of human right and abuse of power.

Whattttt? Am I living in an alternate universe or dreaming? A commissioner of police would have to inform private guards and be authorized by them before entry? Also to be questioned about who he wants to see before entry? For you to even have the temerity to think he must book an appointment and follow some ridiculous procedure shows how this society has fallen.

Is that how you people have decimated and ridiculed any dignity left for the law enforcement agencies in the country. So the people living in the estate are so important that they above the law of the land.

You even said a "mere" fact he identified himself properly is not enough. A " mere" fact. It's not "mere" it's the standard. Period.

Let me paint this scenario to give you more understanding. Police duties do not need to inform the person in an estate before visiting for various reasons because of different investigation procedures. Even if it's not going for arrest or the law enforcement officer is just visiting for questioning. He can be there for surveillance and any other type of work that must not be in the public's purview at times.

When we say properly identify him or herself is just saying they will tell the private guards who they are, with badges, their divisional area office, ID cards and other means of identification and assure them they have nothing to worrying about. In an exceptional case, if the private guards are skeptical, then they can call their CSO, who is attached to the estate. The CSO will now liaise with the officers for more information. And kindly note that the CSOs are known by the police officers because they serve as a bridge with the private guards and the officers.

Let me make it clear to you, the officers are not bound by any of your estate's ridiculous rule or laws or whatever you call it. They don;t need to tell the private guards who they want to see or what their mission is, if they so see fit.

In fact, stopping or delaying their entry to the estate can be termed impeding investigation or justice or whatever they are there to do, which can also be used as infringing on protecting safety of the public.

Even in your so called sane societies, the police officers just need to show their badges are that's it.

Let me make it clear again, according to the law of the land, unless it has been changed, and the bill signed by the government. Law enforcement officers have the right for total entry in to an estate and do not necessarily need to follow any ridiculous rules that are not supported by the constitutions, laws or code guiding their mode of operations.

All over the World , Police, Customs and immigration officers have the right to enter any public places (even private properties with warranty) and must not be stopped by any private security guard.

The problem is that Nigeria Security Guards never undergo any security training, otherwise they would have known better.

To become a security officer or Bouncer in UK, you must go for special training and you will be issued SIA LICENCE, like driver's licence.

I agree with you. They are supposed to be trained and should know better. And I believe people trained them because registered security outfits supply most of these private guards, if not all. You see them in banks and other organizations. There are codes and ethics that guide their operations.

It's just laughable that people can justify private guards can bar law enforcements officers from entering an estate because of an obscure rules that are not recognised in the nations' constitution, code, laws or whatever.

And you wonder when people say the government is the reflection of the people, they got annoyed.

The estate rules, call who you are coming to see and allow them access you. Finish, men Dey the estate, perm sec, commissioners, ministries head, deputy governors, even sanwo Olu get house there, men Dey there. I mean old Gees, fayose etc generals, colonels, who be commissioner to flaunt laws by the estate. Ordinary civil servants paid from the coffers of the masses. Follow the estate laws.

This just sums up Nigeria's problem. And because the residents of the so-called estate are top government officials and big top guns of society, they are allowed to make "laws" which are not even supported in the constitution guiding local governments administration duties and these "laws" further barred law enforcement from accessing the estate until they follow those "laws"

Do you see why Nigeria is such a mess? Do you see how you talk down on your own law enforcement officers and elevate your corrupt officials because they can make absolute laws to themselves because they lived in their deluded, secured area they gated themselves out of the world.

What about those who are not privilege to have a gated estate that can bar people from accessing them. Or they think the gated estate is the absolute answer to a well-secured life, or you think is not the same officers they will call if there is a security emergency.

Do you know that these security agents have a relationship with police officers for emergency purposes? Or do you even you know the SOPs guiding their operations?

How can you even justified a blatant flaunting of nations' laws against the police officers because they are labeled bad eggs in the society and are as well carried by the rich and corrupt top government officials because they live in an estate? And these people make rules unto themselves which are not applicable to the average person on the street. And you wonder why lawlessness abounds in the country.

Let me be clear; according to the law of the land, unless it has been changed and sign as a bill by the government. A law enforcement officer can access an estate if he or she properly identified itself and does not necessarily need to follow any obscure rules or laws that are not supported by the constitution or against any code guiding law enforcement operations in carrying their duties.

Although I have my own reservation for the CP and the Police, but it is improper and unprofessional to disallow a Police Officer from accessing a facility talk less of a Police Commissioner. I was once a security guard in the United States, it was in our code of conduct that we should always allow the Police access to the facility we were guarding. To become a security guard here, you must undergo a training and pass their exam to get a license. With this procedure, you know your boundary, you know how to relate to people courteously, and you know the criminal laws. You also know what the fundamental human rights are and your limits in discharging your duty. This is also applicable to the Police in their recruitment. It you breach any of this codes and ethics, you risk losing your license. But in Nigeria, no regulation, no discipline and no professionalism.

Thank you so much for this. This just sums up what's in my head on this issue.

This is Naija where sentiments reign high here — not following or no regulation or discipline or any stint of professionalism. We judge things based on our pre-conception minds about issues, not what is right in that specific situation.

That's everyone is lawless, plus the government to the citizens and the so-called officers that supposed to enforce laws.

No need to be subtle insulting tho, even what you said is not really an insult.

But, I think everyone is ignorant at a certain point about some situation or issues until it revealed to them the things they don't know about. For that fellow to equate law enforcement officers to just a visitor in a situation of accessing a place is just something to behold.

no, they shouldn't stop a police in uniform who is their own official duty or investigation or arrest.

If the police is on uniform and is on private courtesy call or social visits, he must follow the protocols.

Most Nigerians are abuse magnets and that's why police treat you like shiiiit!

I don't even understand what you are trying to say here. And I don't give a crap about the Naija police, because a majority of them are corrupt to the bone and do have mental issues. But what do you mean that when on official duty or investigation, then they can enter without obstruction? However, because we know this situation to be a social visit, then they should follow protocols.

So how can two rules apply to them. Does that even sound right? What difference does it make if they can't follow protocols on an unfamiliar situation when making an arrest or investigating?

And by the way, the commissioner of police is under duty 24/7, even if he's in so-called social visit in Magodo. If there is any emergency that requires his attention, he will leave whatever he's doing to attend to such immediate security requests.

In fact. if he's on top of his wife making love, according to law, he's required to leave whatever he's doing and attend to any security emergency. So why then try to differentiate when a protocol should apply to law enforcement officers.

Please leave whatever negative sentiments you have for police officers. We know they are lawless and what not. But in this situation, law enforcement officers are not necessarily required to follow any protocols as long they have properly identified themselves not to talk about a commissioner of police delayed for 30 mins. Na so we hate our law enforcement reach? They are the ones these estates will call when the need for an emergency security situation arrives.

If we truly want a better Naija, let's try not to contemplate issues and deal with issues in isolation.

Are you trying to tell me that if the police commissioner comes to my house unannounced, I should embrace him with open arms?

Yes, embrace him, and have a chi chat with him and then further question him what might bring him to your house. He might have some interesting information for your own safety or what you must know about certain situations that can be so important to you or anything that concerns you.

If he however wants to make any arrests, then it is within your right to question what might cause such and ask for a warrant and inform your attorney to be present. And if it's a search, then of course they would need a search warrant for that.

Because police in Naija are known for many bad unprintable behaviors does not mean we shouldn't treat every specific situation as opine by the nation's law. Law enforcement officers have the absolute right to access an estate without even informing anyone as long the officers properly identify themselves. It could be a covert mission or whatever.

Settle or else you'll be settled. The Chief has been offered parcels of land in other areas but he's adamant it's Magodo he wants.

Intelligence and tact is required when dealing with an association of 580 landlords who's individual networth is roughly a minimum of $500k.

My goodness! I can't believe this response. It's been a while since I comment on Nairaland because I usually ignore many takes here due to tribalism and ignorant submission, but I can't just wrap my head around what you're trying to say here.

The judgment by the Apex court was clear that the families who were fraudulently, violently, and unjustly disposed of their ancestral lands and houses should be given in order of priority allocated or re-allocated, their preferred first choice of 549 plots of land in Shangisha. It stated it clearly that it should be the same Shangisha which is now known as Magodo.

If you want to settle them, you gave them plots in faraway Badagry, which is an insult to them, and in Ibeju Lekki. Some of them disagree and in response, you think threatening them is the answer because in your view the current occupants of Magodo are rich and the mighty of society. Is it because these families are not among the famous landowners in Lagos state? Or because they are "nobody" in the scheme of things in the state? Would they have done this to Ojora or the Idejo families of Lagos? I remember when Ojora families were settled for billions of Naria and other compensation on their already developed land in Apapa after they won a long battle at the Supreme court against the government.

If you want to know there was an injunction from the court in 1990s restraining Lagos State in allocating this contested land because it's being litigated in court. Why did the previous Lagos state government go-ahead to sell and allocate these lands?

Because the landowners wanted the allocated plots in their land they were beaten, mal-treated out of not another place, so they should be "off" (killed or shut away) right? Then they better kill all the families' generation. It's the same attitude against these families that led the Adeyiga family and others to insist on their land.

Why can't they negotiate and bring them to the table, and try to persuade them to monetize the judgment? At least the family's lawyer has said all options are on the table. And for the record, the families have no business with the so-called the mighty and the rich of society who reside on these lands. The current occupants should go and seek redress with the Lagos state government who awarded the land to them and granted them C of O and other documents on the land they were told to hold on until the matter is decided in court.

This current Lagos state government should just try to do the needful and make sure everyone is happy by using wisdom to bring everyone to an agreement or else, if these families should go back to the Supreme court to seek more clarification and redress, then it will be more brutal for the current occupant and LASG. All this "gra gra and bigmanism" would lead to nowhere.

Lol, you two fellows should please just let this go. You both have a point, but it is not only about oil.

I was skeptical before about the project but with better understanding I think it was the right decision. If we do not do this soon enough we might regret it later.

The project is strategic to counter Benin's influence economically in Niger.

Opening up maradi through the north to the southern part of Nigeria will enable business transport goods and agricultural product easily between the two nations and capture the vast terrain market, as well as chad and beyond. Benin will be no match. Also more than half of central and eastern Niger will prefer to trade through kano and the rest of Nigeria if there is a better alternative.

Remember the Acfta deal, We offer a bigger market to Niger and can use this as leverage and capture their import and export business.

We need to start wielding our influence in the region for our advantage.

Also if there are no other ongoing rail projects in Nigeria then we can start to criticize heavily.

Can you imagine if in the future all Niger and chad imports and exports business goes through Cotonou? We will be here still blaming the government for their lack of foresight or vision.

I'm surprised Lagos-Calabar was not mentioned in this update since it's part of what's in the pipeline. Mr Amaechi you are doing well but please address us on the status of Lagos-Calabar.

Yeah, Lagos Calabar is crawling at the moment, I do not think it has been given a go ahead loan financing by the senate.

The project is so massive, nugging towrads 10 to 11 billion dollars. So the senate is having cold feet due to it's large sum of debt it will bring to the nation.

But eastern railway project and others have been approved by the senate to allow the FG to secure loans and counterpart funding for them.

I understand you are trying to be objective.

But it doesn’t make sense that the rest of the country is yet to be connected by rail and you wanna build rail into neighboring country so you could play regional powerhouse.

Does it?

Yeah, I get your view.

That's why the so called massive 3 billion dollar loan financing for the eastern railway project, which is already ongoing and starts from Port Harcourt(includes a deep seaport in Bonny) connects many eastern cities like aba, enugu and the rest, must be completed as soon as possible even with a greater speed than the lagos ibadan project.

The issue I have is that the east west project which will connect lagos to calabar and which will pass through south south states is getting road block from the senate. I do not think it has been approved for loan financing the last time I check.

I have no problem connecting Niger and Chad to Nigeria rail infrastructures, I think it's a good idea, but the first priority of a nation is its economic well-being, connecting Calabar to Lagos will link the industrialized South-West (Lagos and OgunState) with the commercial South East and the Oil producing South-South, thereby creating an industrial corridor of the South that can leverage those disparate industrial sectors.

I will suggest that the 17 states of the South work together and contribute the funds to build the rail infrastructure themselves because I don't see this government building any major infrastructure that will integrate the South.

I agree with you to some extent. But Nigeria has already secured a 3billion dollar financing for the eastern railway project which starts from Port Harcourt and will pass through many eastern cities. A deep Bonny seaport is part of the deal.

The same CECC company that built Lagos Ibadan project is already working on the eastern rail project.

The road block is the east west railway project that will link lagos to calabar, it will pass through west to south south states and port harcourt then ends in Calabar.

I think the senate has not given the go-ahead for the loan financing.

And taking the oil first to capital Niamey before moving it to the port is like having an item manufactured in the SE and going to Cameroon first coming to the capital of Nigeria Abuja before going to Cameroon

I think many people do not know the geopolitical balance of this project.

Benin republic saw a loophole to capture all the trade routes and corner all the transportation architecture of Niger.

The uranium and oil fields of Niger are far closer to Nigeria's seaports than Benin. And Mardi is the second-largest city in Niger and central to distribution to Niger.

It will be foolish not to lobby and offer a better proposal to Niger to get more control of their transport needs by accessing Nigeria's seaports which mean more businesses for Nigeria.

And by the way, the 3billion dollar eastern railway is already ongoing which starts from Port Harcourt and a deep Bonny seaport is part of the deal.

The government has surely failed in a lot of areas but with regards to infrastructure, I think we can look with an objective lens.

You don't seem to understand international business Relationship. In this scenario, it ought to be a bilateral arrangement. You build the road and rail way to the edge of your country and the other country takes it up from there.
If you want them to use your ports, give them better incentives and waivers.
That's how it is done

I believe they lobby the Niger government about this, proposing to build an efficient and better route for their industrial goods and oil transportation architecture.

Don't forget Benin is trying to do the same but review their decision at the moment due to Nigeria's aggressive interest. You see, if the country loose this deal, then it is a big slap on the country.

Getting Niger to rely on Nigerian seaports and infrastructure to efficiently transport their goods and oil is a smart thing. We just sign Acfta deal and countries are looking for a way to get the the advantage of each other.

I think the government has tended a loan to build a railway from Port Harcourt to connect to eastern and northern states.

If we offer a better deal to Niger, they will surely have no choice that to go along with our proposal. The world is a competition, you compete or die out.

And I wonder why same gesture is not extended to Benin Republic since there are Yorubas there?

In my opinion that project would be a masterstroke for this country.

We can be objective sometimes. That project will enable Nigeria seaports to be the port of entry for Niger goods. Which means more revenue and economy activities for Nigerian businesses .That is what Benin republic wants to do. To corner the whole of Niger industrial goods and oil transport through Benin ports.

Nigeria has to lobby Niger that the country will provide an efficient means to transport their goods and oil through the country instead of Benin. That's is how to develop a nation and create employment and increase your influence in the region.

I think the FG has also tender a loan to build the rail from port harcourt to link the north and eastern states.

You see, in all the FG failures, we can still commend some actions that is positive for the country. Cos if we lose that great deal to Benin, then it will be a disgrace for a so-called big country like Nigeria.

Nigeria needs to be more assertive economically in the region.

The question is how soon can they complete those needed other railways and road infrastructures. Remember we signed Acfcta with the rest of Africa. And the game is now for those who can use their resources and technical know-how to achieve better deals. And for me, Nigeria controlling access to the sea for Niger will be a great start.

For the Russian collusion,

Rick Gates went to jail

Former Trump campaign adviser George Papadopoulos went to jail too.

Trump doesn't need to worry. If he didn’t engage in tax fraud or loan fraud, then he has nothing to hide(which he has been hiding for alongtime anyway)

Lol did you read the attached link which answered your question? It reads and I quote in the article " But Mueller did not charge or suggest charges for anyone on one of the biggest questions he faced: whether the Trump campaign worked with the Russians to influence the election".

That is what brought about the special counsel, but Muller went rouge and started digging into associates' personal dealings that are unrelated to the real investigation.

Cohen was indicted mainly for his previous personal finance deals that are unrelated whatsoever with Trump, the crime associated with Trump is the campaign laws violation about shush money payments to the porn star. And by the way, the porn star has come out to deny such tho. Even if that is true, you think that will warrant a jail term for ex-President. A violation many current US politicians are guilty of, but dishonestly denied being in control of the campaign funds.

You see for the tax evasion issue, he is just trying to exempt from further political nailing from NY prosecutors or adversaries who will do anything to nail a crime on him.

If the Fed wants to nail you will a crime, they will do anything to find that crime, if you think you are honest or holy in your dealings since birth, they will find out something to get at you, even things you do not have knowledge of, that is how powerful the Feds is.

When the Feds are out to get you, then you are good as done. Especially someone has complex as Trump, they know if they dig further they will definitely find something at the end of the tunnel.

It is not Trump being afraid, it's being cautious knowing how vicious these people are. If FBI and CIA operatives could falsify email documents and tamper or alter exculpatory evidence against Trump and get away with it, then they could do anything to get him.

Civil case I'm not going to argue with because that is definitely a possibility but we are talking about criminal case here, most specifically tax evasion which is NEVER GOING TO HOLD UP IN COURT! Asset inflation in itself is not criminal, valuations are subjective depending on the time, place and the medium. I can value my house at 200 million Naira today and 2 years later value it at 100 million depending on the market or reality. If a common man like me can put this simple defense forward goodluck presenting a credible case based on asset valuation alone!

Now let's come back to the main issue of tax evasion, unless something in his tax returns specifically shows hidden assets or criminal behavior which I seriously doubt, all you've written so far are guesses and assumptions. Like I told the previous guy, read people, READ! It is easier to find a needle in a haystack than to throw an ex- president of the USA in jail, Trump's taxes are audited every year, it is automatic! If you believe the IRS overlooked his tax evasion but NY prosecutors suddenly discovers this bombshell then you're just as confused as Trump's supporters who believe he was rigged out of office. Finally, are corporations people? Can you hold Trump personally liable for Trump's business? Do you undertsand the difference between business taxes and personal taxes? Let's stop fooling ourselves here, you're dealing with the king of litigation, HE AIN'T GOING TO JAIL, I CAN BET MY LIFE SAVINGS ON IT!

Lol, I have been seeing your back and forth with the other guys. Sometimes I just don't want to engage some folks who are inadvertently blinded by hate or being spoonfed without themselves reading between the lines.

Even though I disagree with some of your postulation about the eventual outcome of the case.

The thing is, this is going to look really bad on Trump. They might prove that his business is not what it seems or as big on paper, like over-exaggeration of asset declaration to secure loans and some shrouded financial tax dealings. But, this is not specific to Trump alone. In fact, many US billionaires try to evade the system by hiring top audit firms to find loopholes in the tax system for their benefits.

Would this lead to Trump going to jail? Lol, I doubt, I do not think it will happen. This just a bigger campaign to nail him politically and send a message to future politicians that they are not above the establishment that built them.

Why is it that NY officials just woke up from their slumber to investigate him in 2016 after he announced for Presidency under GOP and broaden their investigation to every aspect of his life during 2018? It was so ridiculous that they asked for all his documents from his college days to his present day. Obama sealed his college records and many other documents from the public and government institutions, same as Bush Jr and Biden.

Where are the NYC democrats when Trump was one of their top donors as a democrat for decades? They are now investigating Trump for his past decade's dealings of shush money payment and other personal dealings after he ditches the party.

If this is a big deal, why is the IRS hasn't raised a serious flag even though they do have the said records?

Why didn't Muller find an indictment on Trump during the Muller Russian Collusion probe? We learned later that the special counsel does have all Trump Tax records for further investigation.

You see, Trump of course is not totally clean, personally and business-wise, the same can be said for many New York businesspeople in wall street and many sectors.

To me, this is just a partisan political hit job against him. The guy created a lot of enemies and step on many toes in the political system. He dares challenge anyone of them and bluntly call their hypocrisy bullshit without remorse, which many has not seen in Washington. Why do you think many supporters like his guts?

NY Cuomo for example obstructs and threatens officials under him forbidden them to announced on nursing death counts and many of his major scandals regarding his handling of nursing home deaths. If he is a Republican, indictments, and lawsuits will be flowing around as we speak.

You see, it's all political nailing, and Trump will smell a lot of it.

whether Democrat or not,it was the supreme Court that gave the Judgment..If they decide otherwise,no Democrat can say they want to have a look at his taxes except the court says.

QED!

Lol, you mean the same democrat-backed NYC grand jury that took the case to the supreme court. And urgently opened a criminal case against him immediately he contested for President as a Republican.

But the corrupt city officials looked otherwise all these years when Trump was dolling out money to democrat politicians—and he was also a NY registered democrat during these years.

If you can't see the vicious vendetta in all this then, I have nothing else to say.

They just opened his skeleton cupboard(if any—which we would soon find out), for him having the guts to dare go against the norm and the establishment that Trump himself has been a great beneficiary of.

NY Grand Jury may get the tax returns almost immediately

Lol, that Griffin guy hack who calls himself a journalist.

They have been salivating about getting him from the onset and finally, for them, this might be the best avenue to nail him.

A major blow for Trump, and regardless of people's political affiliation—this case should be somewhat interesting.

Azzin i wonder how gullible people can be sef.

Fox is blaming Alternative energy, CNN is blaming the governor and fossil fuel energy failure.

Only the independent of mind can deduce it's just another natural disaster that's hit a state NOT used to seeing such bad weather

Lol, you are right!

The amount of bias in American media among all sides will continue to greatly divide that country, especially the so-called corporate or liberal media that control the biggest share of the news or narrative structure.

Did they put the blame squarely on Governor Newson when the same thing happened in California during the last forest fire when many homes in California were without power and a lot of power rationing was done?

Instead, they brutally criticize Trump for his misspeak and let go of Newson.

When you know that for these corporate media is all about the narrative, not news or fact, then you will understand them better.

It is a shame for Texas. Let me leave your inferiority complex and ignorance gor a minute.
Texas, the richest state in the US is home to a lot of ignorant people like you ..who only know oil and gas business and ranching.
They have a privately run power grid dependently mostly on fossil fuel power generation plants. Also because of rank stupidity their grid has no interconnectivity with other states so they cannot import power.
It was okay for a long while because Texas was mostly a hot state with a lot of crude oil and gas. Now God has shown that humility is important. Being grateful is important. A once in 5000 year cold blast has come and reset their brains.

My own issue is your lack of understanding that most countries get it wrong as well.
It is very stupid and ignorant to think only Nigerians make mistakes or have gotten it wrong. Pls open your eyes in the next three years. You will learn

Lol, Texas is full of ignorant people really?

Does this come from differential political mocking or just sheer of the usual blatant false narrative?

Even though Texas is a "red conservative state", it is almost the biggest generator of renewable energy. The state is also among the largest in the US with numerous abundant wind, solar, and biomass production. To stress further, Texas is the largest producer of wind and biomass energy in the US and currently the largest investor of solar energy behind California. Wind energy is already far outpacing declining coal energy in the Texas power system.

Where do these highlighted words come from? Texas is not the richest state, but it's American state largest exporter. Washington DC is the richest area per capita while California is the richest per state GDP. And Texas is the second richest per state GDP after California, the nation's second-largest IT sector, and also top the country in many areas like biotechnology and many other sectors.

Texas is the world's third-largest energy producer and this should not be happening and what happened is rather unfortunate, and I believe many questions will be asked and answers as well. Mistakes? well lesson will be learned and there would be legislation that will forestall future power collapse in case of future severe cold weather.

And for the state not associated with the federal grid. Lol, is nothing to be mock about, in fact, it has been the pride for Texas and the sheer jealousy of many US states on how a state can be so power independent without significant issues for decades.

Many US states cannot attempt such power independent feat but Texas can, and pride itself as the world's third-largest producer of energy only after Russia and the US.

It is not stupidity for not connecting to other state to import power, Lol, they do not need it, why would they, when is the powerhouse of US energy and rakes in over $300 billion yearly in revenue and economic activity.

CutieKing:
Any nigerian that supports trump is purely insane.what did he do for them??.absolutely nothing. No appointment,no aids and to make matter worst,he put them on a visa ban and called them all sort of names.
The same trump that couldnt do anything with the lgbt laws in America where his executive order against them serving in the military was dismissed by the court is same person some foolish Nigerians are celebrating.
When would we learn to look beyond our noses in this country?.

Please, I will explain some things if you can be civil in your conversation.

Even though I do not need to support Trump, of course, he's not my president. But calling people foolish or other names for their political affiliation is not good.

Okay, what Trump did for Nigeria or Africa at large?? Well, you might not know because of almost 100% negative coverage of the man.
I do not care about some appointments of some Nigerian Americans who Biden appointed.

Why?

Because, they are going to do the bidding of America and seek its interest, not Nigeria. America is their country and they pledge their loyalty to its flag totally. Every decision they are going to take on that job will be of America's interest and not Nigeria's. So quit the aids and appointment narrative because it does not add one kobo to Nigeria's economy or well-being.

Let me take you back to the days of Jonathan—where he was frustrated by the Obama admin, in refusing to sell weapons and some financial sanctions, while Boko Haram was ravaging the country aimlessly. He used the Leahy law for this purpose citing human rights abuse.

Please, give me a break.

The same Obama that was droning citizens in Yemen, and other middle east countries. Obama utilizes more drones in two years into his presidency than when they were at war in Iraq and Afghanistan under Bush. The guy was busy droning citizens with reckless abandon, and when he was confronted with his war crimes, he said they are collateral damage due to their bogus and nonsensical "war on terror" narrative. If you doubt me, read more about the files from Edward Snowden and Julius Assange.

Trump overrule this law, and sold weapons to Nigeria and even remove the embargo that denied Nigeria to assess weapons from other countries under US influence.

Also, Trump was the first president to question US military overreaching tendencies towards countries that do not warrant such military intervention. He openly said the US military is not the world police and the UN should step up to its responsibilities.

He stopped more militarization of US camps in Niger and Cameroun. He removed US military generals from Africa and redeployed them to focus more on China and Russia.

If I may ask? what on hell are US high military generals doing in sub-Saharan Africa. Is Africa a major threat to them? He ended US occupation in Somalia and reduced US military involvement in the continent rather engage through trade—which of course China is doing.

The carnage in Libya is still there and under Trump, Africa can at least breathe of the threat of financial sanctions and military oppression.

And for visa restriction, and please not ban as you stipulated, yes I somewhat disagree with it. But can you totally blame the man? America is facing an immigration crisis that has lingered for years. Congress has refused to solve this issue and it was one of the reasons Trump was elected. America needs an immigration overhaul or the country will soon collapse in its face.

Trump wants to prioritize merit instead of chain migration. He was merit to be sole for immigration to America. I think he wants to move it from the present 15% quota to 75%. Even I do not agree with this approach, but the man is just doing want he believes is best for his country.

Do you think Canada is stupid with its immigration policies? They are busy taking our best from us. Medical doctors, professionals, and other top ends skill sets. Go to major companies in Nigeria, the majority of their top managers and highly skilled individuals have migrated to Canada or contemplating to do so.

The British just announced their merit-based immigration system. Even the Dubai government will now start giving citizenship to certain professions.
All countries are busy shoring up their economy with the right people to bolster their economy.

And for the alleged "shithole" comment. Okay, I completely agree is bad, but can we say it is racist? The same guy called some US cities far worst. He said San Francisco is a shit city because of the politicians in an attack on Pelosi. Truly some part of SF, you will see Americans shitting on the street and taking their bath as well. This is a city considered to be one of the wealthiest in the world, yet thousands of Americans are sleeping on the street. And SF is predominantly white.

So Trump is just very arrogant, rude, and unapologetically blunt which is unbecoming of a politician. As complex as the guy is, there something you cannot take away from him. He loves his country and does not read any color to it. As long you profess yourself as an American and believe in its values, you are good with him.

And lastly for the LGBTQ issue, what he did is barring the US military from funding the bills of people who want to engage in transgender operation which will definitely lead to them not entering the military. That is, you can not say you are transgender, then applied for the US military to fund the act to make you one. And this lead Trump to argue people who do not know their sex or finding it difficult to ascertain their sex will not be good for the military or better still at the war front.

And by the way, Trump is the first president to appoint an openly gay man into his cabinet. So that does for it for the anti-gay narrative. In fact, he has stated it many times that gay people in America have the same right as all Americans and should not be discriminated against.

No, America almost destroyed itself through blind hatred for one man, who dared tried to challenge the system through which he became president.

I know you hate Trump, and I don't give a heck about him either.

But, please stop feeding into the narrative of "an attempted coup" orchestrated by the media. That was never a coup of any such. It will be a great insult to those who had lived or currently living under a coup.

We can both agree on Trump's behavior and conduct towards the end of his tenure is poor. But challenging electoral results is part of American politics—and objecting to electoral votes in Congress has been going on for ages. Even Hilary Clinton and some other democrat senators did the same against George Bush Jr while she was a Senator from New York. Also, more than 60 democrats in congress objected to Trump's win and many more didn't come to his inauguration.

An alleged "conspiracy of a stolen electron" by Trump is no different from the Russian collusion nonsense. In fact, the democrats even went ahead to suggest Russia hacked the voting systems and tallies. These are crazy ideas they perpetuated during the 2016 elections, that continue to hang around Trump's presidency.

If you mean challenging the longstanding practice of the US policies and changing them in which he tried to by merely fulfilling his campaign promises is what you termed as " destroying the US institution" then maybe there should not be elections anymore.

Trump campaign on ending the US wars that have been going on for decades, tackle unresolve illegal migration, challenge the norm in Washington, engage the world through trade rather than through wars or meddle on foreign issues that bring nothing to the US and many more.

Many established politicians do not like these policies and again the result of the smears hovering around him. Truly, Trump is flawed, but not to the extent of the coordinated campaign against him from the media, intelligence agencies, wall street, and the pentagon.

As for Biden policies, is not surprising, because he campaigns on them. Even though I do think in the foreseeable future, Nigeria will come to a full grasp of allowing the LGBTQ community freedom and grant them certain rights according to Nigeria law and processes.

And lastly, for the racist part, I cannot comment on it. Because the word is meaningless these days. Everyone is now racist if you do have an opposite view of things, especially if you criticized "a person of color".

Lol, actually, I've been reading your back and forth epistles with the fellow.

But, the thing is, many people do not know the geographical complexity of Lagos state and they seem totally confused when these things are profoundly explained to them. It may in part not be their fault, because the government also has some enlightenment in regards to these issues to aid in urban planning and policies.

I remember when I told my friends sometimes back that we had to get to Lagos for a meeting. They were dazed like are we not in Lagos? because we are at a place in Ikeja then.

Many do not know the difference between Lagos(Isale Eko), Lagos, Lagos Island, Lagos FCT, Lagos City, Metropolitan Lagos, and Lagos State.

When long-time Lagosians or state residents that know deeply these things tried to explain to them, instead of listening, they rather argue needlessly

Where is Julian Assange, the man who indirectly helped him to become President by exposing corruption in the democratic party and war crimes?

Well, Assange's sin was that he purportedly embarrassed the political and intelligence class in DC with those leaks. And of course, the highest people in the media were also humiliated with his reporting. And they were all infuriated, so Assange needs to be lock away to teach others a bitter lesson going forward.

Meaning every classified information that must be leak must help the political class, not hurt or threaten their grip on power. As usual, I believe Trump was persuaded by McConnel and other established swamp senators in Washington DC, not to go forward with the pardon. Also, remember that his Iimpeacment case is going to the Senate for a vote on conviction, which can be used as leverage as per reports.
