Just wanted to thank Seun for finally listening to me and getting around to banning our demented "brother in the Lord" Olori bururku lasan.

4Play you are insane, I used to run track! olodo. I had to stop when i couldnt "tape them down" anymore but that's beside the point! tongue

seriously though you guys are riduculous, volleyball playing with fit body vs indomie eating mammoth. pick one! tongue

Forgetting you are dealing with a 'typical" Nigerian bush man! Probably never left his village not to talk of gettin' down on one knee and proposing. grin By the way he worded the proposal you can only imagine he eats with rice falling out of his mouth flying across to other guests sitting across the table. She has been dating this guy long enough to know better ke? cheesy
Lmao I suppose you're right. It's a shame really. such a thing seems more like a command than a so called "proposal"
Romance › Re: Funny Marriage Proposal by Dreloaded(f): 6:22pm On Mar 04, 2008
I'm not talking about how she reacted AJ. I'm going by the title of the thread and the clueless comments implying that she was mad because it wasnt "extravagant"/romantic enough.

You can take me to the island of Bermuda on their pink sands and I'd still be ticked by such a stupid STATEMENT. Lol it wasnt even a question Btw, but a bloody statement.
Romance › Re: Funny Marriage Proposal by Dreloaded(f): 6:02pm On Mar 04, 2008
Why is it that guys like to jump onto each other's offence without trying to see it from the FEMALE side.

Did anyone say she was complaining on how the proposal lacked extravagance? The problem is how he WORDED it. Is that really hard to comprehend? Seriously?

who the hell says "I've finally decided to marry you", like they are doing the person a favor.
Family › Re: If Your Mama Decides To Leave! by Dreloaded(f): 5:59pm On Mar 04, 2008
Dont believe anyone said she should get a divorce or whatnot, we all said she can go as she please, which could be interpreted as "taking time off"

I still think silk should try to find out about this "it's beyond me" because that's just a weird statement, if her mom doesnt want to discuss it, then she should let her be for a while.
TV/Movies › Re: The Oscars: 2008 by Dreloaded(f): 5:54pm On Mar 04, 2008
They show that crap in the summer tongue

No Country for Old Men was quite an "action" movie on its own. You'd know that if you actually watched it. Just because it wasnt covered from head to toe with CGI with idiotic cliche dialogue like most summer blockbuster doesnt stop it from being what it was. An ENTERTAINING movie

Thete is NO horror movie villan of last year/last few years that can rival the villan known as Anton Chigurh in No Country for Old Men and it wasnt even a horror movie!

Ok Friendo? Rofl
TV/Movies › Re: The Oscars: 2008 by Dreloaded(f): 4:29pm On Mar 04, 2008
justkunmi:
Maybe to overcome that dilemma, they should try to create categories like Best Action movie., Best Triller, Best Horror and the likes. . .and then the so called serious movies can go with the overall best movie. .
Like I said, you have MTV Movie Awards for those kind of unnecessary awards. wink

Departed was an "action" movie and it was nominated wasnt it? It also WON best picture. It's the movie that FINALLY gave Scorcese his Oscar so I dont get the complaints.

Family › Re: If Your Mama Decides To Leave! by Dreloaded(f): 3:29pm On Mar 04, 2008
something beyond her. What exactly does that mean? It could be spirtual;. I suggest you get her to go in depth or if you really want to, invite "elders" from HER SIDE to ask her themselves.

sorry to say but if u were in the same position and u kept your nose out of it, then u really did not appreciate them atleast for bringing you into this world.
what are you apologizing for? I'm not offended because I know myself and my family better than some random person on the internet. If my mom or dad was truly unhappy, they would know how to deal with it, either by him or her taking time apart. My siblings and i wont be on their necks annoying them. They're grown people who can deal with things themselves and they always do. After all they were married before we were born and know themselves well enough.

You are obviously taking your father's side in this situation. If you cant be unbiased, then it's best you keep your nose out of it

You're saying that you checked phone and whatnot, How about sitting down with your mom and ASKING HER what is wrong??

If she comes back tomorrow, this same man will tell her that he did not beg her since the children got involved.
Exactly. Cant believe that after 24 yrs people think a person actually deciding to leave would be considered "leaving at the slightest excuse" esp without even knowing the reason.

O ga.

Perhaps you should take her to those "Holy Ghost fire" churches, after all prayer is all they have in Nigeria

In civilized countries that man would be in the Aids ward of Riker's Island.

bawolowo thanks but I believe in marriage  tongue

bawomolo:
hey hey hey, am looking for a classy lady. what if both sides agree that marriage is not important and decide to continue their relationship as a live-in couple(basically common marriage).
That's different (even though I doubt any Nigerian family would agree to that). anyway if they both wanted that then there wouldnt be a problem

If you have genuinely expressed your interest in getting married to her and the relationship has gone on long enough, then set a date - be it this year or the next, but set a firm date and start planning towards it. Meet the folks, propose, buy the ring, start looking for a venue. I believe that should take care of some of the fears that you will jilt her suddenly. As those plans are proceeding, you can also continue your business/job and get yourself financially ready.

Don't try to get everything established before marriage, but you need to go in with enough confidence and financial strength to meet the basic needs of the home. Building together is good, but make sure you plan towards it from NOW.
Bawolowo, are you saying you don't at least agree with debo's comment?

, no excuse is good enough.
That's not for you to say. Some people dont think they should give up their lives for children who dont care for their wellbeing. Can you enjoy a mother if she's dead?

If my children were mad at me for not wanting to stay in a miserable marriage that probably involves abuse or whatnot, I'd sincerely disown them and then ask God to tell me what I must have done in my past for Him to provide me with such hateful children.

brownsilk, what exactly is it that is causing your mom such heartache./ You dont have to say it if it's too personal but do YOU think it's something you'd accept if you were in her shoes. That's all I ask.

LMAO, why can't the woman struggle with him WHILE they are boyfriend/girlfriend then get married when they are emotionally and financially stable.
and how long will that take. what if in the next 5 years he ends up making 250,000 K, should she wait til he claims that he wants to make 2.5 million in another 6 years?

With that said, I hope the girl in queestion is working as well

who told you 4years is enough for marriage, people mature and bond together at different rates. why should he rush the relationship when he is just getting an apartment over his head. bobo o fe struggle o. oprah has dated steadman for years and they seem to have a solid relationship. maybe some people prioritize marriage as u guys though(just some certificate).

i think they need to "work" things out before signing that marriage certificates. this could end up being a nightmare for them. maybe my commitmentphobia is coming out again tongue tongue. she already gave him an ultimatum, i doubt there's a chance of compromise.

you mean i can't find a naija girl of my dreams except i get married within a couple of years of the relationship undecided cry cry cry

you are right, some women tend to be glutton for punishment and think getting married would make a man treat her better. societal pressure forces people into unnecessary marriage. the poster should let the relationship progress gradually, don't rush the flow bro. yes it's nagging if she keeps on screaming about it.
First off Oprah is a lesbian and the whole Steadman thing was for show cos of the kind of viewers she has.
She left him two years ago and found her love with Gayle

as for finding naija girl that will wait 10 years for a man. You might find those akatized ones that think having illegimate children running is the way to go but no girl of a true Nigerian family will have a family that will accept that crap. Try your luck in Texas and the UK (even Maryland sef), I hear such girls plenty for those places  tongue

There are some people that think a guy should know if you're "marriage material" by 6 months,. I think that's hogwash as 6 months sef is still "honeymoon phase" , I believe a good 2-3 years is fine. but 4 years, dude that's pushing it abit. I mean if he has made it clear that he will somnetime along the line, that's fine but if he hasnt even made an effort to letting her know such, then he has serious issues.

Like I said these are the same guys that will make fun of older singer women screaming "biological clock" *rolls eyes*
