The cost of hostels in Uli and Okija are prohibitive. i know from the personal experience of two of my nieces. One completed her education at Madonna and the other was at ANSU. I had wanted to bring up this issue of students extreme exploitation by our people some time ago.

I don't know why those people are that mean to students. I am glad that students have abandoned their buildings for them.
How can a building in Uli be more expensive than building in Port Harcourt? It makes no sense!

Students of nowadays are living in "luxury". Beautiful hostels like this could not be found in Nigerian universities neighborhoods during our time as students. Now students are enjoying private balconies. It was even roofed with step-tiles.

In my own opinion, I suggest you go with first design. Its really classic and thats what student want.

I have floor plans prepared for this building and its still among our considerations. This 48 self contained units will cost about N70-80 million naira to complete till painting and move in level. (Depending on the choices of final finish materials)

The first must be a luxury hostel, the design is superb.

I believe new buildings and design will always make the students pay more, not leaking roof or fetching water from a far distance.

But seriously, I am planning to start a private students hostel project development soon, I wanted to see the most current design patterns and work out the final details with my client. I was inside of about three different hostels, chatted up the students and they allowed me access to enter and study the hostels, I even took measurements of their rooms, toilets and kitchens before leaving. Very nice young people there. (You guys should not get any funny ideas o )

Please, I am interested in getting a Non-immigrant visa to the United States. Lately, there have been a lot of rejection. Thus, I've made up my mind that I'm applying for the NIV just twice, if the first goes through, Amazing..! If not, I'll try one last time.

The two NIV I want to apply for is the B1/B2 and F1 visa type. Now, the issue is which one should I apply for at first..? In case, I get denied the first time, which one should I go with for the first attempt so that the second attempt won't be seen as having immigration intent.?

Note that, the B1/B2 means I'll spend little money cuz my cousin is in the States and I'll be with him till I sort myself, without doing anything illegal. I have solid plans.

The F1 on the other part means I'll spend more money since I'll most likely be in a different state from his.. Though, I'll be more flexible with the opportunities that come with F1.

There is nothing wrong with the names Nweke, Noriega, Nwafo or Nwankwo. In Ghana most boys are named after the day of the week they were born e.g Kofi, Kodak, Kwadjo, Kweku. Even their women are named.

Nweke just means a child born on Eke which is a day of the week in Igbo. You have to stop living under this cloud of fear and suspicion of everything pertaining to your culture and the way of your ancestors. You did not spring out of the earth full grown. You are great and special because they were great and special people. I posted a number of times on your other thread.

All the so call English days of the week were named after one European god or the other. Thursday is after Thor. Saturday is named after the god Saturn. Same thing with all the other days after the week. I am sure you describe the days of the week using this system, right? After these words pass your lips, are u left feeling like a heathen? Some Nigerians even name their children Monday, Sunday etc. and I bet you won’t find anything wrong with it. So why this hullabaloo about Nweke? Focus on what the name literally means, instead of all these contusions about some god, snake etc.

To sum it up, you can choose Eke if you want, maybe Uba or any of the other translations I offered. I however strongly advise against putting a “h” at the end of the name. Putting h at the end of Dike, Eke, Uba etc is stupid in my opinion. Igbo names do not end with a consonant. Putting a consonant renders everything meaningless. All the different permutations of the words carry a high or low tone. H can never be used to denote a high or low tone. If so, I might as well tell you that Ekeh means snake. Please stop splitting hairs, okay. Trying to run away from your shadow is an exercise is futility and will only lead to ruin.

So, I experienced first hand fire service response this past weekend. After driving until very late in the night, so I crashed at a friend's apartment who was gone for the night at her bf's.

At about 9am, a deafening sound woke me up. It was the fire/smoke alarms. Her neighbor downstairs had a grease fire due to carelessness. Lol, I sped downstairs through the smoke in the stairway without shoes on haha.

When I got outside, she was trying to get her phone to work. She finally called 911 to tell them about the fire. The fire response team got to us in less than 3 minutes. Took them about 15 minutes to put the fire out and blow out all the smoke.

I was all in my feelings about how efficient the emergency service was and was already criticizing Naija in my head. I talked to my brother in Lagos about it afterward, then he told me about Lasema and how efficient they are too. He told me they would have also reached the scene in 3 minutes and put out the fire. I'm proud of Lasema if it's true they're efficient (If not, I hope they get better), fire is nothing to play with.

So, added to the list of reasons for enjoying my life here: smoke/fire detectors/alarms. It could have been a bigger fire and nobody would be there to wake me up lol. Thank God for them!!!

No man born of Igbo blood will interprete Nweke as son of python. Your imagination is playing tricks on you. The literal meaning is still child born on Eke day. It's like saying that Nwafor means child of stomach because afor (market day) sounds like afo(stomach).

Secondly, Azuka is actually Azukaego it means those backing me, my backers or those standing behind me (family/children/friends/supporters/defenders) are stronger/greater than money. Azu in this case symbolizes those backing me.

I posted on nairaland https://www.nairaland.com/4243960/should-change-surname-please-need late last year on my decision to change my surname, "..."

At first I wanted to change to "..." which is my grand father's English name but after having a second thought and the opinions I got concerning having an identity, I decided to change to something native.

My decision for changing my surname was as a result of concern of having a clear meaning and origin of the surname I bear. However, "..." means "A child born on the '...' ...", "..." being one of the four market days in the Igbo calendar has no significant meaning to my life journey. I wouldn't want to accept what I can't even explain to my unborn kids in the future nor accept a surname because everyone in my family bears it.

For that reason, I decided to change my from... meaning creation. I believed this proposed surname of mine has so much to talk about my life jouney, from going from the unknown to the known; from being a natural man to a reformed and informed man.

I will really appreciate your thought about this new surname and its meaning.
