Obiano should replicate Lagos in Anambra.

Obiano waited patiently until his second term to start stepping on people's toes. That was a smart political move.

Now that he knows that he will not run for reelection again, he has more leverage to do unpopular but necessary things.

Godfatherism won't allow all these to happen.
Daboomb:
As necessary and good as the above milestones are (and dont forget that almost everyone in Nigeria has a bank account, even just savings accnt, with a BVN Database, some states also have I.D Card database scheme, INEC has its own database, Immigration/Passport office has its own, e.t.c........so the problem cant be a shortage of 'database')............ it wont fly until the Govt agrees and implement stable power supply.
How much does it cost to build a brand new Power Station (using Gas or Nuclear or hydro options)?
Yet, the money Govt has been giving the same 'thieves and fronts' it used in buying up Nepa/PHCN, in form of BAILOUT, is more tha enough to build one!

ENERGY/POWER is the engine of any growth in any country.
After elelctricity, you then move on to Steel

How do you link 'database', when the Server is down or the Network is down, due to no electricity?

So many things are wrong with Nigeria at this moment and l personally think we should jettisson this Democracy, for now.
Let us be honest, it is not working!
Aside GSM, which is a private initiative that was started even before 1999, can someone tell me just ONE THING that has improved in Nigeria, since we started this 3rd Democratic republic? just tell me one.

if l have my way, l will finish-off all our current leaders, from the NASS, to the Executive, to past Presidents, Ministers and purge the Juduciary.
If l have my way, l will ask unemplyed but willing Graduates, to apply for Police job, pay them a minimum of 200K monthly but make them sign an undertaking that any form of bribery/corruption on their part, fetches them a minimum of 10yrs in jail, without an option of fine. I will setup a hightech monitoring team for that purpose.

If l had my way, l will introduce the death penalty for acts of corruption that "affects the state of the Citizens".
For example, if you embezzle money meant to kit Police officers or for their welfare, money meant to build hospitals, money meant for schools, steal PHCN transformer or tamper with electric installations, loot money meant for Borehole and other sundry acts that directly affect the quality of life of the citizens.

if l had my way, for any PUBLIC OFFICER who is saddled with the responsibility of ensuring Public Safety or anything related to such, acts of corruption in that regards will fetch you 15yrs in prison, with hard labour (I will use these multitudes of Prisoners on Rice farms and othe rfarms established all over the country and they must also feed themselves properly).

Acts like approving a defective building, poorly constructed road, fake measures, fake drugs, fake items like cable, drugs or auto-parts, importing and selling dangerous/sub-standard items, e.t.c will attract 15yrs in Prison

A seed needs to 'die' first, before it can 'grow' and produce even more seeds for food.

You will be surprised that the Russia that you think is the most corrupt country in the world, will not bath an eyelid but it is the "Western Countries" that play hypocrisy and benefit from the squalor in Nigeria (they need our best brains to migrate to their country as Doctors, Engineers, Nurses, I.T specialist, e.t.c)... will be the one shouting 'Human Rights Abuse' but rightnow that we Nigerians are suffering and dying, they are not doing ANYTHING to remove such suffering, appart from selling us more weapons to kill ourselves!

Refering to Spyder's post, NO ONE, NO FOREIGN COUNTRY is coming to help us resolve our problems here in Nigeria (infact, they are happy we are dying off like flies because they think we are too many grin );
We either solve it ourselves, in our own way and style, or we are DOOMED.

Anyway, maybe l am just a harsh and deranged shithead, living in a shithole. undecided

The two most prosperous business in Nigeria are politics and church business (In fela's voice: politics name big business)
AngelicBeing:
l concur with you, I was listening to a program recently about Belgium, they said Belgium has l think only 23 churches in the entire country, they also said Switzerland, , Finland, Denmark and few western European countries have fewer churches, mosques and religious centers, Nigeria has mosques and churches in almost every street, and yet things are not working, China is more or less an Atheist Nation but most of the microphones, plastic chairs etc used in religious centers in Nigeria are from China

If prayers alone develops a country, Nigeria will be like paradise, until we begin to do the right thing and have a paradigm shift from the way we have been doing things in Nigeria, l am afraid, we shall be having this same conversation in another 50 years from now shocked

Lol. That will organic to be more expensive than GMO. Yankee girl over mature, a 16years old girl having 26years assets, that must human GMO assets.
Originalsly:
Not an expert....but I think it is a main cause of many forms of cancer and other ailments that are soo widespread in the US and not in Europe and other places where GMO products are not available. Just like the chickens on fast track maturation... kids be doing the same..maturing faster...girls 8..already pushing up breasts and people who keep track report they are doing so at a younger and younger age. An average 25 year old African period...would be asked to show ID because one would think they may be under 16 ...definitely under 21. Just my take.

TravelRe: On Vacation: New York City by Dremca(m): 1:30pm On May 13, 2018
Thanks for the explanation. What could be the health implications of these GMO products to the consumers.
Originalsly:
Foods now labeled organic...are foods that are grown/grown naturally.GMO products have been genetically modified/tampered with.... to produce a certain outcome. Let's say chicken... a baby chick will not naturally grow to a full matured hen in 21 days. .... but when fed with products that will increase its natural growth rate..it will...that's a GMO chicken because it's natural growth has been tampered with. It can be made to grow muscle much faster...it can be made to produce 10 eggs a day instead of just one...and the same goes to fruits...grow fast...a certain size... tough skin for longer shelf life... etc. Such produce are no longer natural...and for that reason they do not attract flies when ripe nor in the case of meat..when spoilt. GMO fruits usually never become over ripe...they are 'good'..then begin to spoil/break down from the core....'leak water' and eventually become a pool of slush. The US is very good at producing GMO products..... while Europe has a ban on such..now wonder why.

The government should please use .gov.ng as domain name extension in all state government departments and parastatals website to show authenticity and build trust with the users accessing information there especially for those in the diaspora. An example is the website of ministry of land, survey and town planning having .net instead of .gov.ng to show is a government owned website. http://anambralands.net/index.php

PoliticsRe: Update on developments in Anambra state-photos by Dremca(m): 12:17pm On May 13, 2018
Government roles is in making policy and not painting houses for landlords, that's wrong, if they fail to comply, the government should issue an eviction note to the tenant and seal the building and then charge the landlord to court for failure to comply and if the landlord doesnt still comply, the government should sell off the property and use part of the money to settle evicted tenants and the remaining money goes into the state treasury as IGR and you will be suprise how Anambra state will be looking.
REGENMASTER:
Absolutely Correct. There are many absentee landlords who only care to wait for rent payment alerts and never care to see the slum state of their properties. Government can repaint them as a matter of public interest and recover the money forcefully. Government should also have a common SHOP FRONT POLICY as done in the UK. In this case, there should be minimum standard of front of shop aesthetic or beauty. Government can assist and recover the money gradually. This will attract shoppers. Every town must have a regenerated shopping town centre.

, your attention is needed in responding to some if not all the point made. Very good suggestion, I must commend.
mktinsight:
That traffic that you see pent up at the Unizik junction with the expressway is a bottleneck of people moving between Okpuno via Obi Okoli and Awkas Arthur Eze Rd and vice versa due to poor transport and poor connecting infrastructure. Obi and his stingy thinking is why ANSG built a foot bridge instead of a flyover at that junction. That foot bridge is not only poorly located and constructed but forces masses of keke and okada to sit at each junction to ferry people to and fro. Then to add to the chaos all sorts of buses have established parks at the junction including govt owned TRACAS. Illegal traders love lots of traffic and Unizik Junction is their dream come true.

The solution to Unizik Junction is not just tree planting but road infrastructure, law enforcement and fencing.

1) The open spaces and all bus parks at each junction must be fenced off from the road just like Fashola did at Anthony junction in Lagos and Ambode did with Berger.

2) Ban Okada entirely on Obi Okoli and Arthur Eze (indeed the entire town) and force keke and buses to park in fenced off road spaces.

3) The govt needs to be serious about getting rid of street traders. The barrow hawkers that have colonized many streets of Anambra cities cannot do so in Enugu, Lagos, Ebonyi because those governments do not allow it. But Anambra OCHA brigade, police take bribes and look the other way to show the depth of corruption in ANSG.

4) The govt needs to build a bridge at Regina Caeli/Old Inec Rd to create a permanent high capacity route for all traffic between Okpuno and Awka.

5) The govt needs to construct a one way service lane between Regina Caeli junction and Kwata junction on the southern side of the expressway so vehicles can shuttle westwards easilt without having to go all the way to Arroma to turn.

6) The govt needs to immediately downsize Eke Awka which accounts for a lot of crosstown traffic by converting the older buildings at its edges and middle back to parking and wall the market completely around with entry and exit gate's.

7) The govt should establish a new market at Ifite closer to the university community to take pressure of demand off Eke Awka.

12 years is too and besides, they will still buy inferior paint in order to save cost. It shouldn't be more than 5 years at most for them to repaint their houses. That's the global practice in developed countries like US.
horsepower101:
There should be a state law for routine building maintenance with penalties and fines.

Mandatory repainting of houses every 12 to 15 years.

Changing of rusted roof.

Mandatory building of side walks and closing of gutter by landlords or land owners.
PoliticsRe: Update on developments in Anambra state-photos by Dremca(m): 11:58am On May 13, 2018
Seriously, state government should pass a law mandating landlord to repaint their house after 2 or 3 years especially houses in popular areas.

Sorry for the late reply ,you know how busy everybody dey for this country. The first step is to decide what field you want the military to train you on i.e how to build houses, repair heavy duty vehicles or machineries etc there are hundreds of jobs they can train you on that can fetch you above 100k after your service (just search them on google and pick the one you like)The free college grant for your school and citizenship are sure bankers before you complete your service. The second step is to write and get good scores on asvab so that you get into your dream field you want the military to train you on.Read a book they call asvab for dummies. It will help you a lot. That exam resemble JAMB but not difficult like it so you will easily smash it.If you get low sores like 30 something the army will still take you but will assign you to a field you may or may not like .Don't allow your recruiter to rush you into taking the exam so that you can prepare well and get good scores and good field. After ASVAB ,your recruiter will drive you to MEPS office in the state capital where there screen you physically and medically for drugs, tattoo, vision and hearing test etc and if you pass they will give you a date for shipping to basic training. Army is very prestigious here as you get respected everywhere you go.If you apply for your parents to come here the visa na sharp sharp cos you're defending the country ,discount in shopping stores&car dealers, best medical care in the world for you and family, loan that can reach 100s of thousand for house, federal credit union loans etc too numerous to mention. You took the right decision to serve this free country which is the greatest democracy in the world. If you have any question, just feel free to pm me

We need updates and photos on many things actually. Like the refinery; the airport; the conference centre; all those real estate developments for which MOUs were signed; the hotel Ifeanyi Uba is building next to his stadium; the completed Agulu Lake Hotel (let's see how far with the landscaping, rooms and lobby); etc.

We don't have that many pics of developments in Nnewi by way of companies, hotels and real estate/mansions.

Also, can someone tell us how the coffers of Anambra state is benefitting from the oil and gas exploitation they say is ongoing at the moment?
Also the International marketing being built at Isiagu.
PoliticsRe: Update on developments in Anambra state-photos by Dremca(m): 11:06am On May 12, 2018
Very correct. If government can build this conference centres in Awka, Onitsha and Nnewi, then Anambra is few steps ahead in becoming a fully business hub in the south east.
mktinsight:
A 40,000 stadium with 4 events every month even if filled to capacity at average gate fee of 500 naira will yield 960 million a year. For a stadium costing 30 billion it will take over 30 years to cover it's cost and you haven't even talked about operations and maintenance.

A 5000 multi space capacity conference center on the other hand will cost roughly around 1-3 billion naira but it will host at least 50-100 events a year yielding well over 300 million a year. It would pay itself back within a 10 year period. Moreover a conference center brings in a more sophisticated group of people including international guests. How many business gurus or technical experts will go to Uyo to watch the Super Eagles play?

Anambra needs to be hosting national and international events if it has any hopes of transforming itself beyond a primitive trading economy. When you have national bankers, lawyers, doctors, oil and gas entrepreneurs, engineers, writers attending conferences in Anambra the state shows it is open for business and it's creating opportunities for organizations and multinationals to setup offices, branches and factories in the state. You don't get that level of economic activity from a stadium.
