KardinalZik: Are you the one to change your father's name for him? Is your father's name not Nweke? Did he tell you he isn't comfortable with it? Were you the one who chose your surname for yourself in the first place? Or, are you planning to 'disfather' him if he insist on being called Nweke?
CHANGE YOUR NAME, NOT YOUR PARENTS' NAME.
EDUCATION + CIVILIZATION IS NOT EQUAL TO STUPIDITY! You didn't come in peace. Hence, you didn't read the writeup very well. NOTED. |

delishpot: come and bear my own grand fathers name since you do not want your grandpas own. I even thought you would say his name translates to Child of bondage or suffering or pain or strife or shame, or sorrow or death or mockery or poverty sef. See fine name wey you want dump. Lol. Very funny. I think meaning matters most. |

duduwest: Change is constant You can start a new generation by doing that. Not compulsory for your own children to bear your surname, you can put your Own name in there name. As simple as that Yea, surname are ought to be father's name not grand-father's name except the name bears a legacy (like Henry "Ford" , his descedant bears "Ford." |

Pierohandsome: Change it, i dnt see any sense in people bearing their grand-father's name whn they can bear their own father's name.
I am evn planning to change my surname to my personal name Thanks, but currently I bear my father's name as one of my names. I really see my grand-father as a role model, learnt so much life lessons from him before he passed on and I will be very proud to bear his name. |

I currently bear my grand-father's name as my surname "..." which means "A boy born on 'eke' market day" (One of the... It could literally mean "..." (...). Also from my findings it is affiliated with ... which I can't deeply explain. Imagine having kids someday and my children walk up to me out of curiosity wanting to know the meaning of my surname and it sound meaningless. So I have decided to bear ... which is "..." (...) which has a better meaning and acceptance. If the surname was Eze/Obi (meaning king) or any other meaningful name, I wouldn't have bothered changing it. I want to read meaning to my names, for the fact that my family members bears same surname doesn't mean I should do the same.
I would appreciate if you guys have a diverse view of the name if is worth keeping or not.

lionlee216: Well Bro, You know I advised him on K1 Visa at least spend some times together and from there he will know if he truly have a thing for the girl in question. I told him to search his heart to know if truly its true love.. they might meet and the "attraction" might not be there. The way you talk on phone is different to real life.
Personally, i wouldn't marry some one with 4 kids.. if he is really looking for papers and not for true love, the American dream can turn to American Nightmare if care is not taken.
He made me remember a lady I once met during my hunting days. She was 28years then with 6 kids. 6kids, 3 different fathers. She even went ahead and say she doesn't like condoms during sex. All her effort to make our relationship work failed. I ran away like Usain bolt. Who go dey babysit 6 kids Lol?
All in all, there is more to American dream apart from getting papers.. Some people are not really informed hence we just need to educate them on their decision and not accusing them.
Make i give you the woman with 6 kids? Lol
Shalom. Did she show you her STD test result to ensure she is safe. What if the baby daddies are jobless, how do they fund their child care support. I know she must be black American. |

About 2m naija money - if I knew earlier this 'little' could fund a master's program, I for don leave Nigeria sinceee. Choosing here costs so much less when compared with other schools in the US. sassysure: Pls, there is something bothering me that I want u guys to help me sort out. A middle aged man left his family last yr to USA for a programme(I think govt related) and is supposed to go back to Nigeria at the end of that programme but he didn't. It's more than a yr now and his family(finished giving birth since) are of the opinion he will soon send for them. I'm close to the wife and anytime we chat, she is always hopeful she will soo leave Nigeria.
Is the man not staying in USA illegally? How is he sustaining himself and promising his family they will soon join him? Is something like that possible. Cos I want the woman to stop living in utopia. Thanks Twoods has answer to this, please wait for him to reply. |

What puzzles me is that folks here then have the gall to speak ill of their leaders. Is marriage now a crime for non US citizens living in the US |

Commercial cities are meant to be more expensive than capital cities. Newyork is more expensive than Washington DC; Johannesburg is more expensive than Pretoria; Toronto is more expensive than Ottawa; Istanbul is more expensive than Ankara but in Nigeria, Abuja is more expensive than Lagos and we want change. It simply means it pays more to be a politician than to be an Entrepreneur/Business Person in Nigeria. |

Owols: 1st paragraph, we'll spoken. But bros, I for one no know book like you, no matter how I try I may not be as good as you. Try to be mild and diplomatic. Fingers are not equal you know, not everyone will finish with distinctions. What I would advise if I were you is that each person should be good at something and the world will open its gates to you. And you sound too righteous, free guys and don't be so judgemental. I'm just catching my fun with all the arguments. Immigration fraud, no be my thing. I like my freedom. I no get mind for risks. People wants Twoods to be like Lagosishome. I believe he (Twoods) may have had an unforgetable experience with a Nigeria (Maybe he got scammed or something else) and perhaps sounds choleric and conservative in nature while Lagosismyhome is a good phlegmatic and open minded. Is an individual differences, you have to accept and appreciate it. Everyone cannot be the way you want them to be, what matters is "what do you have to offer" and I have alot from him irrespective of his manner of communicaton yet I care less. Pick the diamond and throway the mud. |
