The terms are used interchangeably in Nigeria.
A chemist and a Pharmacist tend to be the same thing though in the true sense of the word a chemist is not a pharmacist and vice versa.

The term 'Chemist' usually refers to a Chemist shop and is a bit old fashioned as you could get all sorts of household items, cleaners, paints, solvents etc in a chemist including drugs, the are more of a convenience store and may not necessarily have a qualified pharmacist on site. As previously mentioned they tend to be smaller and may not have an extensive list of drugs available.

Also the term chemist roughly refers to a pharmacy(UK) or drugstore (USA) depending on which country you're in.

I note a comment above noting that these shops sell all sorts of 'rubbish' these days.
It is simply modern marketing strategy and responding to market forces. They sell allied products ie toothbrushes, personally grooming products and groceries etc to maximise profits.

Good evening everyone. I currently live out of the country and i wanted to intern at a pharmacy in Nigeria for about 6 weeks around December and don't know if these kinds of internships exist. Am not sure if i want to intern at a retail pharmacy or hospital pharmacy so am open to suggestions. I want an internship that will expose me to the pharmacy experience in Nigeria in the short period of time that i have available for the internship. Please help! Thanks in anticipation!

@drered... Trevo is a more dan a supplement... As i speak to u now Trevo is working on its curative certification bcus it doesnt only support illnesses buh cures. Yes we ar nt allowed to claim it cures until d certification is out i acept dat.. Dis same issue rose when some Doctors at luth startd prescribing trevo to patients bcus dey knw it cures until NMA(nigerian medical association) came when dey hrd it was goin viral and said no doctor shld prescribe Trevo officially buh unofficial yes unless it would kill d jobs of pharmacist cus d sale of drugs wuld reduce. Same tin apund in Regina Mundi hospital in Mushin too...Lets judge dis.. Pls if deres is anyone out here dat ave used Trevo or hrd of sum1 wu used Trevo to cure any disease pls like dis post. Thanks

@op yes there is a cure for an asthmatic patient, the cure is Trevo. The number of bottles u wuld need to take based on patients av gotten here on nairaland is based on aw long d asthma is and aw chronic it is. Mrs okonwa son of 15yrs took jst 1bottles and is perfectly fine nau. Evn d doctors at luth nau prescribe it to dia patients when dey saw aw he recovered. The same boy av bin admitted 2ce on asthma for inhaling generator smoke buh nau it doest affect him no more.
