I was diagnose with asthma but it hasn't reach the stage of using inhaler though Im always careful not to pull the trigger AV not experience it for over 1 month now pls does it mean am free from asthmahuh
Don't take everything a doc says. Do your own research.. Where tests carried out on you or you were diagnosed purely based on symptoms?.. It could have been a misdiagnosis..

Pls how much is the TREVO? My younger sister is asthmatic. And she uses franol ventolin inhaler. The inhaler normally last her one to two weeks. We have even tried different traditional procedures yet nnone worked. I think it has even caused her sleep apnea. We are looking for a way she can become less dependent on the inhaler. My cousin who is asthmatic but has stopped using the inhaler could not tell us what she did.
TREVO supplements or other supplements have no proven efficacy against asthma.. Please don't waste your time, money and hope on supplements that will fail u.. Before you try out anything also try and check up on the internet to substantiate what anyone tells you.. And you also need to get that kid back to the hospital.. See a specialist if possible she shouldn't be using close to that much..

Tell me about the steriod and Laba combination
Brand names of LABA+steroid combination are symbicort and advair.. It is a controller therapy that you inhale once a day everyday to prevent attacks.. Its advantage is it is more effective than increasing the dose of either a steroid or b2 agonist( salbutamol, terbutaline) when you have frequent exacerbations of asthma.. It prevents attacks and also help manage some complications of asthma.. It is a combination of a low-medium dose steroid and its local action in the lungs via inhalation results in a lower incidence of side effect when compared to oral therapy.. A common side effect of taking this though is oral thrush/candidiasis which can easily be prevented by gargling warm water after each dose.. You should check with a GOOD doctor before starting therapy though..

Lmaooo... Miracle? like really? Prevention of Mother-to-child transmission (vertical transmission) is as old as the use of AZT in managing HIV.. Zidovudine has been used since the early 90's to prevent vertical transmission even before nevirapine and other anti- HIV med's that are commonly used now but trust Nigerians to ascribe everything to miracles.. smh
HealthRe: Asthmatic Patients, share Your Experiences And What Medication Works For You. by drered(m):

oral salbutamol (tablet) does not prevent attacks per se and it isn't advisable you take it routinely to prevent tolerance .. Try and stick to your inhaler and see how that goes. If you use your inhaler more than two days a week then your asthma is poorly controlled and your therapy would have to be re-evaluated. If you want to to stay symptom free then there are steroid + LABA combinations that will keep u symptom free and prevent worsening of your asthma.

the most commonly used drug for abortion was originally produced as a drug against peptic ulcer disease. up till now it is still a drug for treatment of ulcer, though not in women.

some drugs used for abortion that contain female hormones will cause hormonal imbalance in the male, with effects such as enlargement of the breast and loss or reduction of other male sexxual characteristics
Misoprostol? It is still in use to prevent NSAID induced gastric ulcer in men and women.. It is only contra-indicated in pregnant women..

It works for me that way. I use the tablet when I'm about to sleep, when I'm going out or if the weather is cold. Like 3times daily but not everyday. I use the inhaler anytime my breathing isn't stable or when I'm choking
Have you tried staying off the ventolin tablet and your symptoms got worse? Any particular reason why u take it before you sleep? Do u usually wake up coughing? Do you use the inhaler more than twice a week?

I use ventolin tablet and piriton, then ventolin inhaler. When it gets serious to the extent of causing chest pain I use prednisolone.
Anytime the ventolin tablet and inhaler isn't working it means I have malaria, most times I'd have to treat the malaria before the other drugs work.
And I'm kinda used to ventolin tablets and inhaler that when I use any other drug apart from them it doesn't work
Why are you using both ventolin tablet and inhaler? How often do you use them?
HealthRe: Angina Pectoris: My Story, My Experience by drered(m): 12:27pm On Oct 19, 2014
Networkingprof:
during the holiday season, I was down with serious heart quakes. Early on, i was feeling mild pain in my back and then my chest. At one point, my jaw and neck was feeling strain. Then one night, I woke up in the wee hours of the day to note panting of my heart. What could this be? I wonder. The next morning, my right hand was like its not part of my body, like its not receiving cardiovascular signal.

Now I was observant. Then few days later, it is back to normal but then the heart quake persist. It happens every midnight and once it happens, I am awake and alert. Then when it persist, I did my own research and find out its angina pectoris, a form of heart disease that happens when plague clog the vessel conveying blood off the heart and it becomes difficult for blood to leave the heart for the rest part of the body.

This stress the body and makes it pump against the diaphraim vigorously. This leads to cardiac arrest. It also shows that one has consumed too much cholesterol and the attack is at the peak so to say when this happens. It did not happen the day it happened, it has been accumulating all along, but it happen when the body can no longer bear the junkload.

Next, I met my Food Supplement Business team, but did not complain about it. But in the office while conversin with my partner, my right hand was so detached from me and the headache was getting on. It was in the morning and a friend was being celebrated for an international award and I don't want to create a negative scenario, so I went to the next office to fix some blog post.

By the time I check myself, I felt I am lossing control and anything can happen to my right hand. I just went to the shelf straight and pick a product, D-regulator and tore the cap. I swallow just a pill and I went for cucumber and water. God, 20 minutes later, I was fine. I have not yet exhaust the pills, (20 capsule) but my health is just fine. If I had break down, your guess is as good as mine.

Right now, I have said goodby to junk food, more on fruits now. It is better to look thinner and healthy than fatter and sick. This is my story.
Its totally awesome that you did your research.. That's the first step to dealing wit whatever is wrong.. But then you shouldn't make diagnosis based purely on your symptoms.. There are so many cardiovascular diseases that might have similar presenting symptoms so you can't say for sure that's angina even though your symptoms are very indicative of stable angina since it comes at fixed times.. But then if it is angina it is very important that you go to the hospitals and see a doctor, preferably a specialist to get you started on medications so that it doesn't worsen.. Read up on myocardial infarction.. MI arises from protracted oxygen deprivation(angina) and when MI arises it is mostly irreversible and can only be managed.. Another thing angina isn't only caused by atherosclerosis(formation of plaque in your arteries). It could be caused by any thing that decreases blood flow to your heart or increases your heart's demand for oxygen and atherosclerosis is just one among many of these.. So staying off cholesterol containing food is awesome but then since it is has varying aetiologies their are a variety of medications broadly specific for you that could help reduce the risk of sudden death, MI and increase oxygen supply to your heart..

My experience with Ventolin Inhaler is that it makes me so dependent on it.

Does anyone experience this?
Hi. What dyu mean you use perilon tablets? Like daily or a short course when you get severe attacks?

Lwkmd. Many people are ignorant of asthma, dome think it is contagious, someone once asked me if I could have sex. I was so shocked my mouth dropped opened. He thought I could get attacks when in getting intimate.
Lol. Well people do get attacks while they having sex.. Any form of continuous physical exertion could trigger an attack depending on how well the asthma is controlled and the severity of the asthma and other pre disposing and variable factors..

You really are slow .. There are malaria doctors, kill and cure doctors and pompous doctors but then they are also very good doctors. There'll have to be a whole new category for you(If you are a MD) to say everybody wants their kids to study medicine.. +You must be really dense to tell him to delegate all his emergencies to nurses, lab techs and radiographers like the cause of the impasse is cuz the other healthcare members tried to take over the MD's job.. Wasn't there a circular that emergencies be attended to during the strike? So how can you try and justify what happened?.. It shows that people like you are part of what is wrong with the system cuz you'd pretty much do the same if it was you.. You'd know someone with no passion for the profession.. Smh

ziga: Please leave all your JOHESU/NMA issues at the door.

I am not interested in all that sh|t.

And if you are interested in patient care/healthcare, you will not be talking politics here.

If you can tell me exactly how a Doctors job has affected other healthworkers jobs please let me know. If not leave all your repression is clear talk. One of the problems with government hospitals is that nobody is nobody's boss. If people were accountable, a lot of the crap that has been happening wouldn't even get to this stage!!!

The FG is the one responsible for making CONMESS/CONHESS, civil service levels or whatever else you choose to argue. So direct your frustrations where it is supposed to go. The FG equally needs CEOs to run their affairs. Haha.

We play politics with everything and then wonder why Nigeria doesn't work. As long as na our pikin, even if him dey lead us enter lagoon!!!

I think we should privatize and let business minded CEOs run the health sector (as well as everything else in Nigeria for that matter) without any FG interference, that way at least we will be able to make better use of our facilities!!!
Now who has gotten emotional, impulsive and reactive?

ziga: Haba? Here you go again.

Making inferences with no logic.

I have not said anything here. You are the one making all the inferences. All I have said is you can't and shouldn't make a change just because of your feelings about an issue. That is a horrible leader.

Poor judgement, being impulsive, emotional and reactive have never ever made anything better!!!

Can you tell me how Doctors have repressed other health workers, or how they have prevented them from carrying out their healthcare responsibilities.

Or can you tell me how the CMD has prevented nurses from taking care of their patients or Lab scientists from carrying out their duties.

In what ways have the CMDs impeded the development of medicine in Nigeria. And how will things be better if a CEO/manager/administrator is employed. How exactly will they improve the facilities?

I am logical, but if you keep up with your rants, I don't think we can have a rational conversation here.

I have not said anything about a Surgeon general position and how does the creation of CONMESS affect other workers.

Are the Docs/CMD paying their salaries?
. In your previous post you asked why I was jumping into a solution when there was no problem, well the problem with making the position of CEO exclusive to MD's has been identified and the solution has been proffered in earlier posts. Appointments should be based purely on competency/qualification/leadership skills and this will include other members of the health care team and greatly boost morale except you argue that all this qualities are exclusive to MD's then I have nothing to say further on this. Lol. You are the one not being rational sir, i brought that up cuz it is very relevant to the discussion and it points to the double standards expressly shown by MD's. It affected everyone cuz u singled out two professionals from a pool and agitated for a better welfare package when everyone should have been carried along. Matter of fact that was a major contributing factor to all this brouahaha, JOHESU was created to agitate for a better welfare for its members and in classic NMA style they get involved in trying to counter demands that had been made to their employer, the government by saying it isn't "best" for the patient. The repression is very clear sir. PCN saw what applied in developed countries took a delegate including all the deans of the faculties of pharmacy there, they got back laid a framework for the pharm. D programme that was more clinically oriented since the role of the pharmacist in hospitals is limited to the mechanical dispensing of drugs which is clearly unproductive relative to their academic coverage. They forwarded this to the NUC that gave them an initial go ahead..and then Medical and Dental consultants of Nigeria took PCN to court concerning it saying in explicit terms that it wasn't best for the patients with other doctors stating here that it is the life long goals of other members of the healthcare team to be called doctors and that was what the whole point of the pharm. D programme is.. The consultancy issue by other members of the health care team being blocked by MD's is another example.. Loads of instances but I'd rather stop here. If this isn't clear enough for you or "too emotional" and "impulsive" then I'd rather not go further..
HealthRe: Non Doctor CMD/CEO And Hospital Performance by drered(m):
ziga: The competency of leaders are justly and unjustly criticized everyday.

But just like you said, not every ignoramus who says something is making sense.

We don't change institutions just because some "ignoramus" believes something that he does not even understand.

Let us look at all the problems with Nigeria's healthcare or even with Nigerian hospitals.

Is it due to the Doctors or the CMDs?

And from what you say here, why should we change the system when we "don't have anything to say that "other members of the health care team won't do better"

Why are you jumping to a solution when you haven't identified the problem?

If you take your car to a mechanic, do you buy new equipment without knowing that they will actually work for your situation?
You sound like you are a smart guy but your logic is all over the place.
The dots can't all be connected for you sir.. Part of the problem with the health care system is the repression of a greater number of the members of the healthcare team and if you know anything about management you'd know this will greatly affect productivity and output. When a people are made to feel that they are not-so-relevant and they can't and should not reach the peak of their careers just cuz the doctors want it that way their will be a problem, a big one sir. Why are doctors not agitating and going on strike cuz of the extremely poor quality of care they are forced to give due to lack of funds to the hospital? Or the dearth of machines and equipment to make diagnosis and carry out certain procedures? So making the position of CEO exclusive to doctors has fixed one of our many healthcare problems? All you saying here is you don't change institution when it doesn't suit you but then you'd clamour for changes like the creation of surgeon general, the CONMESS salary scale from the previously unified one and all the other systems that centres on the doctor. Talk about double standards..

ziga: What studies have been done to show that they are not effective CEOs despite all the inadequacies that Nigeria presents to themhuh
What studies have you done to infer that other members of the health care team won't do better?
HealthRe: Non Doctor CMD/CEO And Hospital Performance by drered(m): 11:03pm On Aug 03, 2014
ziga: Please drop all these "We took this course in university" talk.

Doctors are trained in management and public health as well.

In fact, I don't know of any course that doesn't have some form of management integrated into it for that matter.

It is basically a part of life.

The healthcare needs of Nigeria has nothing to do with who is or who is not CEO.

CEOs were introduced to make hospitals more profitable(for the owners) in developed countries.

And this is being done to the detriment of the patient.

A step towards profitability and accountability would be privatization.

So, please lets stop with all the shouting. When and if Nigeria gets to the point where we have executives running hospitals, we will see how things go. But until then, the CMD is totally appropriate for running the hospital.
I won't drop something that is relevant to the point I'm making cuz the number of ignoramuses here are enormous hence the need for proper education. I really don't care much about who becomes CEO, matter of fact in the whole fracas between NMA and JOHESU the least of my concern is who gets to head hospitals. I'd just prefer it was any competent person with required qualification and experience .. But then when the competency of other professions are questioned in trying to prove a point then things have to be set straight..
