What is the justification for the relativity?
According to what I read a while ago. The ratio is 10/8.7 and is based on the extra year MD'S spend in school. 6 +x Years as against 5 +x years..

DrAdonis:
These people going on strike are not medical doctors. Nurses who went to the university too are not part of them.

No sir, you are misinformed. A house officer (doctor) is on an equivalent of CONHESS 9 while med lab scientists and pharmacy interns are on CONHESS 8 Salary scale. And that is very fair if you ask me..

It's really funny that other health workers like lab scientists, pharmacists, porters, hospital cleaners, security etc come together and decide to go on strike because they are not receiving the same salaries and allowances as doctors.
Nigerians need to start behaving civil and Noble really. We can't be misbehaving in the name of unionism asking for equal salary with people who we had completely different training with...Even Albert Einstein said the worst form of inequality is trying to make unequal things equal.
These 'people' going on strike include registered nurses. It's OK to not be clear on certain issues but what is not OK is bringing it out here trying to misinform the public.. There is no time JOHESU has ever asked for equal salary with MD'S. Kindly furnish me with links if u insist otherwise..

DrPlato:
The day JOHESU realise they cant compete with doctors, then i will start taking them serious. Imagine going on strike because doctors were paid and you were not paid.
No wonder most of their strikes were not yielding good fruits.
You better wake up and realise that you cant compete with doctors no matter how much u try.
Everybody's in competition with MD'S since yall are the next best thing after sliced bread.. If you don't get the reason for the agitation when it's so glaring then you'll never get it. Switch the situation and tell me MD'S won't go on strike..

Here we go again. Another "JOHESU vs Medical Doctors" series of threads brewing. If its your right, use the law to defend your argument. Don't bring a lame excuse that because drs are paid this, u must be paid that. Plus, learn to stop painting drs in a bad image and misleading the public just to gain public sympathy for your cause.
What lame excuse? There has always been a ratio/relativity between the pay of MD'S and other members of the healthcare team. When there's an increase in one isn't it only logical that the relativity be maintained? Or the other members should just sit and watch the margin grow wider?

Oh wow. Have called one of the biggest pharmacies in Lagos and ibadan. No luck. If this gets to front page you might just get lucky.. I don't even think either is registered in Nigeria. I'll check tomorrow tho.. But in the mean time explore alternatives..
HealthRe: 5th Generation Cephalosporin Urgently Required To.save A Life by drered(m): 10:32am On Feb 04, 2016
Made some calls no luck so far.. A specific antibiotic is hardly ever a determinant on outcome of the treatment. Any particular reasons why an alternative cannot be used?
HealthRe: 4th February World Cancer Day by drered(m): 10:13am On Feb 04, 2016
Maintain healthy eating habits. Keep your immunity on check by boosting with supplements. Cut down /quit smoking. Ladies should touch themselves!! Check your beasts for lumps as often as you can. The fellas should go for screening when they get to their 40's.. And most importantly empathise with any cancer patients you know as it is one of the greatest battles anyone can ever fight..

Cgpa is being used o.... Medicine doesn't apply the Cgpa routine.
Be very sure before making assertions. Medicine and pharmacy is declassified. The way it's structured every graduate of both field is seen as competent and qualified. You could calculate your Cgpa for personal reasons but out there it really doesn't apply especially whilst pursuing a career in your field. Doesn't mean you shouldn't strive to be the best anyway.

it depends on the scale u are placed... but my problem in this country is why are medical doctors treated as more superior to pharmasist,,,,,i strongly dont agree with their reason because they depends on us pharmasist to function well...but we depend on no one but God. Prof Adewole should do something about it urgently
As much as MD's have a superiority complex other members of the healthcare team along with their professional bodies really need to work on themselves. Healthcare shouldn't be about superiority. Health care should always be patient oriented as the patient is actually the most important person, but that's a far cry from what applies today. The truth is unless the profession expands and provision is made for specialization, hospital pharmacy is going to be characterised by stagnancy and backwardness because if your value chain is small then you'll be dispensible. Concerning pay, according to a document I read one time the pay ratio for doctors /pharmacies is 10/8.7 with the extra year required to graduate as a medic responsible for the difference. Then as u progress as a MD, from a GP to a specialist your value chain increases so does your remuneration.. My issue with MDCN and MD'S is their continous effort to suppress other members of the healthcare team so as to maintain their superiority complex.

it is usually done by 400l but during the session. They do IT after the session.
Actually externship is done in 500L. IT 300L(B.pharm 2) and 400L(B.pharm 3). Internship is after you're done with pharmacy school..

Hello, everybody in the house. Kindly advise me. I want to work in a govt establishment with my MSc in Clinical Epidemiology as a pharmacist. Where do you think I can earn well up to a minimum of 180k? If NAFDAC (PHARMAVOVIGILANCE AREA) or Min of Health, how much could the salary be? Pls, it's urgent. Thank you as I await your suggestions n contributions.
Has a pharmacist you get into NAFDAC as an SRO (Senior regulatory officer). others except vet doctors get in as RO's 2 ranks lower. (nd then you'll have to climb up the rank from there) The salary as far as I know isn't on the high side. It's the perks that come with it.. You could also check on the ministry of health. Think the remuneration there is better.
HealthRe: Sad Plight Of Health Interns In Nigeria,,, by drered(m): 6:43pm On Nov 19, 2015
quincybee12:
I was happy when I read an article 'plight of intern pharmacists' on swank channel,,,and the person presented 2 case studies @dala orthopaedic hospital, kano and national assembly clinic, Abuja. At least someone was able to voice out the pains of health interns across the country. It is important to note that this sad plight concerns all fresh graduates of health professions eg pharmacists, doctors, lab scientists, radiographers etc .

I'm currently on an internship programme @nafdac,lagos and I'm being owed 5months salary out of my 7month stay, it is very depressing and frustrating as we pay for accomodation, food, transport and other welfare by ourselves. Where do we get the funds to handle this expenses? Our administrators keep giving us excuses such as TSA policy and other gibberish lies whenever we bring up a complaint. Some people even travel to abuja before they get paid, the staffs are being paid when due,,therefore it's questionable why interns who do the bulk work in these institutions ignored. It all boils down to corruption within or outside the institution, ill stop so far,,but I'm calling on health bodies of respective professions, ministry of health and Nigerian government to tackle this menace as soon as possible,,,my 2 cents.
Lol.. I Figured this was going to be on here sooner or later. Im a NAFDAC intern too and i strongly believe we should demand for an explaination as to the irregularity in the payment schedule. Personally, i've heard so many things from some unscrupulous individuals fixing the money in a fixed deposit account to out-rightly short changing us. So we really need clarity..

is it lawful for a pharmacist to rent out his license?
Yeah.. Why not?.. Only thing is it isnt ethical to register a premise with your license when you wont be responsible for the daily activities of the pharmacy, commonly called register and go.
