Mojavee: This is Similar to my ongoing current solar situation.
The solar Engineer has already helped me get a New 2 (VACUNA) tubular battery. 220ah I plan on running it with a 3.5va Inverter This has also been purchased by him
I had told him I would be getting the solar panels myself because the prices he gave on the quotation is actualy on the higher side. He suggested I purchase 12 solar panels (350waats/400watts),
Due to the fact that I said i would be running it with a chest freezer.
I am on the search for solar new solar pannels that would serve me
Are they anyone solar pannel brand you could recommend?
Or do you have relaible solar panel dealer
Thanks Curious, whats the lower consumption of ur chest freezer, it it the old school own? Is the 3.5kva inverter standalone or hybrid? Unless u using lithium which can tolerate high charging current, I feel using 12 350/400watt panels is an overkill unless of course you have other heavy loads u plan on putting on the inverter also that u didn't mention? At 40% efficiency, u wud be getting abt 2kw/hr from the panels with good sun and max u can send to ur tubular batteries is abt 500 to 600watts/hr for charging. Just my little knowledge. The experts can add or discredit this |

Jefferyzz: If ur system is 24v up. Just buy 400w upwards jinko from fouani, gennex or other trusted suppliers on this platform and get an mppt to it. If ure using 12v get new 180/190w panels, that's with 18v 10a ratting on their sticker n get pwm CC. But when he wants to upgrade later, u know the 180w panels and to some extent the pwm would become useless. In solar, u always want to prepare for the future in terms of expansion. I'd suggest he gets his 300w panels and a 60amp mppt charger if money isnt a problem. All he has to do later to upgrade would be adding panels +/- battery upgrade while still making use of the mppt. |

easyyoke: Wawu. My $150 American Charge controller. Wahala. It is made by Renogy in the US so it is a quality and expensive product ke. You think my controller may be the issue?😳😳😳. This cannot even be right. I have a clamp meter and I have measured the DC Amp directly from the panel’s wire as well as the Volt. It is giving me exactly what the MPPT controller is giving with just a little loss. So it is not my controller Whats the specs in terms of maximum panel voltage, max panel input etc? |

JoeSef0: That's nice.
I really like the mppt CC built in the inverter It shows the wattage and amps the solar is charging at and even shows that of AC input together. Most inverter out there don't give those details. Also i noticed it has a fast charging speed for AC. Running my top loader washing machine on it as i type. Advantage of the hybrid is u can oversize ur panels such that it powers ur load and still charge the battery which u sort of lose wit this pwm charger. I was goin to ask, whats the max panel input of ur pwm controller used? Looking like u connected ur 900watt panel to it directly? |

TechGeek777: Does it mean the inbuilt CC in sms sunmate is not good?
I dey use one corner eye dey look this SMS Sunmate Inverter, but don't have enough users to share they experience on it I use same inverter and its being doing okay. Like someone commented above, doubt if the grounding of the house is active. The inverter also isnt grounded from the pics. Some of this earthing issues only pop up after u install an inverter and it has to be corrected for safety reasons |

Penuelseun: Oga, you will be wasting valuable power if you connect all the panels in series, your charge controller is pwm for God sake How sir? So long as he doesn't exceed the max pwm voltage, I feel he sud be fine plus he'd be using a thinner wire (which wud be cheaper) cos of the reduced current. |

kristien4: so that the pv voltage will increase. I use mppt charge controller. I learnt that to charge a 48v system, u need at least 60v pv voltage, hence the reason i serie_d then paralleld to increase voltage.. can mppt charger increase panel voltage output? Whats ur mppt charger voltage range, that wud determine max nos of panels u can series together |
Satellite TV Technology › Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Drgreatone: 4:42pm On Jan 28, 2024 |
JoeSef0: I understand all you just said. But the 300w panels i used are 36v in paper and it's definitely not 12v (I'll add a diagram that shows it details). So there's no way I'm gonna series 3 panels that arent 12v together, it's gonna exceed the max 48v input for the controller. I might be wrong. I never mentioned 12v, what i said was combining them in series would be better than the parallel connection u used. Ur 3 panels wud be giving you about 100v while the current wud be abt 8amps thus requiring a smaller guage wire and still within the hybrid mppt voltage of 30 to 400. In parallel, ur max volt wud ideally be 36v but in reality can drop to less than 30 at which charging capacity wud be poor or even absent. |

Satellite TV Technology › Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Drgreatone: 10:05pm On Jan 26, 2024 |
JoeSef0: Parallel Thr inverter should be around 200k+ Using a parallel connection wont allow u enjoy the inverter, its minimum mppt voltage is 30v. Connecting it in series would give u better voltage and u wud be using a smaller wire guage as the current wud be reduced. Glad ur feeezer worked on it. I just got same set up and even though by battery sagged to like 11.4 when i put on the freezer, it picked up at once. Mine is even bigger, it's the 310l size and load was around 140w on the inverter. U also need to change the wire btw inverter and battery, the manual suggest using a 22mm guage wire for which i used a 25mm for mine. Wud av used up to 35mm but didnt get around. |

NiyiOmoIyunade: The online voltage drop calculators say that you are fine.
If your transmission distance increased more than 6m one way, the answer could change quickly. Sorry to bother u again sir. I used ur recommended calculator to see the volt drop if i add extra 1 or 2 similar panels in series to the existing set up and it gave <1%. Just wanted to run it by u if it's okay or i should increase the wire size. Thank you |

Happy new year everyone, big thanks to everyone who have always bin of help when we bring up issues here. I have come again oooo. This PHCN brouhaha last month where some areas had no light for over a week peppered me small and I av decided to add panels to my existing setup (afripower 1kva hybrid inverter with max amp/volts of 25 each and maximum connected panel wattage of 600w). Want to get 2 300watt panel cos of space and future expansion rather than 3 200watt but their voltage is over 30v, is there a way to step it down to 25v which is within safe limits? Getting a pwm seems a waste to me as the specs of most I av seen is similar to my inverter own and money for mppt never complete. Thank you 🙏🙏🙏 |

Akbil: That's why I mentioned it's for a Duplex. I assume any installer should have an idea of basic loads to carry. What is difference is most don't include ACs that's I why specified the exception. Renewable energy isn't something u want to make assumptions for. U are dealing with a finite amount of energy unlike NEPA that would power everything u throw at it, na ur mthly bill go suffer am. I hope u know there are some bungalows with more electrical appliances than a duplex. So saying its a duplex without specifying ur appliances is leaving urself at the mercy of ur installer. Brightsolar has given u his package list though so u can guide urself with it or if you are DIY, assemble ur own solar system urself and just pay for installation. Peace ! |

I need complete solar system for a Duplex with 3nos inverter acs.
Please give estimate and bulk park pricing.
Please share information here before we take it privately.

NiyiOmoIyunade: First you look at how you are arranging your solar panels in series and parallel.
Say you had 4 units of 550w panels in 2S2P, it would call for a different cable gauge than if you had them in 4S over thesame distance.
So you look at the max amps your panel will generate - in the 550w panel case about 13.5a per panel so if you had a 2S2P arrangement you would be sending 26a from solar panel to charge controller - that calls for a 6mm2 cable as minimum gauge to carry that 26a then to have a less than 3% voltage drop you may need to upsize to 10mm2 (depends on distance and you use a voltage drop vs distance chart for this).
If you were setting same panels in 4S for a max amps of 14a but much higher voltage then a 6mm2 cable would be perfectly fine even across a relatively large distance (again the charts will tell you minimum cable gauge to maintain X% voltage drop over X distance).
In this 4S config you could even get away with 4mm2 cable but I would not recommend.
This above is the general science - for your 800w situation how many panels do you have? What are the panel VmP and lmp (current) and how do you plan to arrange the panels? 2 in series then 2 in parallel or 4 in series? We can know your exact cable gauge needed if you answer these questions. Thank you boss. Its just 2 415watt panels with 32v and abt 13amp connected in series. Used a 4mm double core wire. Saw that it can take up to 1000v and abt 30amps online, just needed ppl's personal experience/choice. |
