We should stop the habit of destroying what is good about us because of jealousy. Even if he is perceived a fraud, he has done us proud better than any of our thieving politicians. Each time we have a hero doing us proud, watch some b.a.s.t.a.r.d.s pull them down because of tribalism and racial hatred, mind you I am from the South West. Ileke-Idi you need to broaden your horizon.
PoliticsRe: Nigeria Tops Happiness Survey In 2003. Is The Situation Still The Same In 2010? by DrKnow1(op): 9:10pm On Nov 11, 2010
Happiness is all about one's attitude towards life in general. I am sure my ancestors were happier than I am, yet they were less priviledged.
PoliticsNigeria Tops Happiness Survey In 2003. Is The Situation Still The Same In 2010? by DrKnow1(op): 11:05am On Nov 11, 2010
A new study of more than 65 countries published in the UK's New Scientist magazine suggests that the happiest people in the world live in Nigeria - and the least happy, in Romania.

People in Latin America, Western Europe and North America are happier than their counterparts in Eastern Europe and Russia.

HAPPINESS AROUND THE WORLD

•The happiest
•Nigeria
•Mexico
•Venezuela
•El Salvador
•Puerto Rico
•The least happy
•Russia
•Armenia
•Romania Source: New Scientist
Nigeria has the highest percentage of happy people followed by Mexico, Venezuela, El Salvador and Puerto Rico, while Russia, Armenia and Romania have the fewest.

But factors that make people happy may vary from one country to the next with personal success and self-expression being seen as the most important in the US, while in Japan, fulfilling the expectations of family and society is valued more highly.

The survey appears to confirm the old adage that money cannot buy happiness.

PATH TO HAPPINESS

•Genetic propensity to happiness
•Marriage
•Make friends and value them
•Desire less
•Do someone a good turn
•Have faith (religious or not)
•Stop comparing your looks with others
•Earn more money
•Grow old gracefully
•Don't worry if you're not a genius
The researchers for World Values Survey described the desire for material goods as "a happiness suppressant".

They say happiness levels have remained virtually the same in industrialised countries since World War II, although incomes have risen considerably.

The exception is Denmark, where people have become more satisfied with life over the last three decades.

The study was carried out in 1999-2001 and published for the first time by New Scientist this week.

Consumerism

Researchers believe the unchanging trend is linked to consumerism.

"New Zealand ranked 15 for overall satisfaction, the US 16th, Australia 20th and Britain 24th - although Australia beats the other three for day-to-day happiness," New Scientist says.

The survey is a worldwide investigation of socio-cultural and political change conducted about every four years by an international network of social scientists.

It includes questions about how happy people are and how satisfied they are with their lives.

Although such surveys are not new, they are being increasingly taken into account by policy makers, the magazine says.

Reading the above publication from 2003, I wonder if the situation is still the same today. Are we still the happiest people on earth? or we are just deceiving ourselves. Are you a happy Nigerian?

FoodRe: Whale In Lagos(with Pics) by DrKnow1(m): 11:24am On Nov 09, 2010
Whales had been known to be beached in so many places across the globe weather dead or alive. In all these cases, attempts were made to get it back to sea if still alive or destroyed if dead. Nigeria is the only place on earth where people would not think twice before scavenging over a dead beached whale like vultures. Habah, this is the highest level of moral decadence. I weep for my people.

PoliticsNigeria Honour Awards: Is It A Joke? by DrKnow1(op): 9:09pm On Oct 28, 2010
How honourable are the national honour awards being dished out in their hundreds every year to many dishonourable corrupt ex-officios as well as current ones? Many of the awardees are people who should be doing terms in KIrikiri.
Nigeria has awarded over 4000 of these honours in its  50 years of existence while the United State has awarded only 200 in 200 years. Who do you think really deserved to be honoured in this corruption ridden country?

every nigerian in britain was always roaming the streets looking for chekere (cheque), laide (lloyds bank), banky (barclays), natty (natwest) and the likes. i swear IT has saved alot of nigerians in london. before IT, nigerians did only 2 things ? security work or bank fraud.

There is another thing you must know; whatever you do to earn a living as long as its legitimate and honest, commands respects anywhere in the world except Nigeria. Shoe shining is one of them.
PoliticsRe: 85% Of Diasporean Nigerians Are Crooks by DrKnow1(m): 11:30pm On Oct 26, 2010
@poster
Before you give this 85% statistics, you should first blame yourself for your laziness and failure in life. This unprovoked attack on the hardworking majority of honest Nigerians who decided to migrate far to face whatever hardships that they might encounter rather than sit down at their comfort zone waiting for non existing job positions. They decided not to remain docile like you who prefer to sit in one place and wait for miracles to happen. I will be surprised  if your situation is not one of two things; its either you a deportee due to your own nefarious activities while you were there; or it could be you have applied for visa times without number and got refused due to your recklessness in telling unbelievable lies purporting to be what you are not. I could understand your bitterness towards those living abroad is born out of jealousy, but you will continue to be the failure you have always been if you don't stop depending on your mum for feeding money. By the way how far about the kindergarten novel you claimed to have been writing for five years? Have you been to page five yet?
CelebritiesRe: Mercy Aigbe (Actress) - Being A Second Wife Was Never My Dream, But . . . by DrKnow1(m): 11:17am On Oct 21, 2010
To all of you condemning this lovely lady who has found love and blessed with a baby boy; you are all hypocrites from bleeding polygamous homes whose mothers are third or fourth wives. You should have rebuked your mothers first before all these tirades against Mercy. How  many of you have been dating married men for years with series of abortions and wrecked marriages without getting hooked. You should first criticise the african culture that allows polygamy before blaming the innocent woman

Well, well, well, is NIgeria this much bad that most can't even think sensibly. The poster asked a simple question of so much importance and the replies being given were so ridiculous and abusive. In other civilised societies except Nigeria, there are league tables of the best and the worst institutions for potential applicants to make the best choice and for individual institution to improve its position in any subsequent ranking. It also helps the educational authorities to know which institutions are failing that require more funding. It surprises me that there are no institutional rankings in Nigeria.

By the way, whose money is used to buy the rice? Alaaru to nje buredi, awo ori e lo nje ti o mo . Shior to the benefactor and the beneficiaries.

Most Nigerians have lost every bits of their sense of logical reasoning due to being subjected to successive years of psychological pilferage. How on earth could any logical thinking person be blaming this honest gentleman for his boldness in saying the truth. He must have seen a lot or must have been approached by these gluttonic sons of Lucifer with their ghana-must-go bags to book their place in the rigging exercise ahead. use your heads.
