Are we sure our eastern brothers have not sold Obudu to Cameroon already? May be they are about to claim what is legitimately theirs. Our Ndigbo brothers are very schrewed businessmen; they can sell their mothers. |

Diego Maradona launched an extraordinary attack on fellow football greats Pele and Michel Platini as he predicted he could steer Argentina to a third World Cup triumph. , "Pele should go back to the museum," Maradona said about recent criticism from the Brazilian great about his coaching ability. "We all know what the French are like and Platini as a Frenchman thinks he knows it all," Maradona added after the UEFA President said Maradona was not a good coach as a player. "I feel capable of passing on to the players what I experienced as a footballer," he told a news conference. "I want to be (world) champion and I have Messi, backed by a great team," Maradona said, adding that no other player in the tournament so far had come "within 40 percent" of Messi. "We have spectacular players who are not playing but who are behind, waiting for their chance," he said of Argentina's strength in depth. Maradona dominated the 1986 finals which Argentina won in Mexico like no other single player has done before or since at the World Cup and Argentines hope for a repeat from Messi. Argentina face South Korea, the country they beat in their opening match in Mexico 24 years ago, at Soccer City outside Johannesburg on Thursday. "Korea don't have a Messi, they're a very strong collective block, they're fast, they have a good team," he said. "They're to be respected but we're going out to win that match. We don't know how to speculate with a result," he added to a packed room far too small for the media interest he generates. Maradona was told that the Koreans would use tactical fouls to try to control Messi who created a string of chances against Nigeria that turned their goalkeeper into the man of the match. "A tactical foul is an asset and depending on what the referee sees he must show a yellow or red card," said Maradona, who had asked before Argentina's opening 1-0 win over Nigeria, for FIFA to make their Fair Play slogan count. "We have to play our football calmly and let the referee do the rest." South Korea lead the group on goal difference from Argentina after beating Greece 2-0 on Saturday Source: http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/16062010/58/world-cup-2010-maradona-attacks-pele-platini.html |
We got wondering why AMAA that stands to be the ‘Oscar’ for African actors didn’t see every A List actor or actress in attendance. Conspicuously absent was Genevieve Nnaji Genevieve Nnaji was not present at the AMAAwards because the organizers didn’t provide her with a helicopter. Source said she had asked for a helicopter. Source said Genevieve was invited to the AMAA but she made the ridiculous request for a helicopter to pick her up and It was perceived as a joke by Peace Anyiam Osigwe, the organizer of the awards but apparently Genny was serious as she didn’t make it to the event. Aloy+Emeka:Your question should have been; How can you marry 2nd and 3rd wife without courting? In the context of poligamy, the word cheating does not exist if you have the intention of marrying more wives. |
In most places where there are frictions between the different religious group, one thing is prevalent - The original indigenous cultural and religious beliefs of the natives have been jettisoned and replaced with other religions imported from other places in the world. These imports are often practised in a distorted ways; they are often misconstrued because they are alien to the cultural set up of that society. Christianity and Islam as practised in Nigeria are typical examples of religions that are completely in contradition with our cultural set up and that is why we keep having all these problems. Go to Britain where Christianity was imported to Nigeria, the Church of England will never ask its members to buy a private jet for the Arch Bishop neither will it ask the church members to bring 10% of their incomes as tithe to the church.Saudi Arabia is comparatively a peaceful place without the incessant skirmishes associated with our Muslim communities here in Nigeria. We need to go back to basic and start practising the religions of ou ancestors. I am not an atheist because I still believe in Obaluaye as my God. |
If bigamy or polygamy is allowed in NIgeria, then there should be no case bsaed on infidelity and cheating that should be allowed to stand in the Court. White wedding is alien to the African matrimonial set up. In the african context, traditional marriage allows the man to have more than one wife. The law should not distinguish between traditional marriage, civil or church marriagewhen it comes to how many wives a man can have in Africa. So the man can have his current wife and the two potential wives he is courting. |
what is going on here? How on earth should this post found a place in the joke section let alone in the front page. Are they not the daughters of the same Fani Kayode facing allegation of corruption and embezzlement? |

Why must this be a front page item in NL? There is nothing unusual about this since this is the normal thing to do in an ideal society. The Blackberry did not belong to the person who found it; keeping it for himself would have been considered as stealing. In a country like UK where I currently reside, if you find and keep such an item you are probably putting yourself in trouble potentially. It might be a stolen item or worst still, something terrible might have happened to the original owner like been roobed, buggled or even been murdered. How do you explain yourself if such item is found in your possesion? The phone might have even been used to commit crimes. Remember removing the SIM card doesn't amount to anything since its a 3G phone. |
