The worst report I have read in years. If a business prevents your country from importing useless good, how can that be a bad business. If a business tries to monopolise whose fault is that? That’s what every business does, they try to monopolise if there are no strong competitor. Even in US there are monopolies in businesses. In U.K. they have to enact anti-competition laws to prevent monopolies. A business cannot be said to be bad just because it tries to monopolise. It is the duty of government to create fair competition rules. Did DSTV not monopolise Nigerian market. Ditto MTN etc. The duty of government regulators is to make rules for fair competition and monitor the business.
This is bad belly reporting. And why would US be happy with any African that is trying to stop foreign products dumping?

You got all wrong completely. The indians and Chinese are among the greatest emigrants doing jobs in other countries. The world is a global village. The problem with Nigeria is the leaders, not a poor doctor or nurses looking for greener pastures. In fact most of the foreign remittance coming to Nigeria comes from diasporans working in the healthcare sector. They employ many jobless Nigerians and contribute to economic growth. If they had not left Nigeria, we would have been worse off. They are not going to fix the half baked leadership and corruption in Nigeria. Nigerians must elect only capable leaders full of integrity, irrespective of tribe or religion. That’s the way to move Nigeria forward.

My friend is currently going through a divorce in the UK and having a hell of a time. His wife mounted as many allegations on him as possible during separation - domestic violence, marital rape, child abuse, drugs and alcohol use, adultery, forgery just to name a few. He had to leave the house. He has moved to a room in a shared house and now even struggling to pay the rent. He does not see his kids anymore (not by choice). He is very broke and in debt because of all that is going on. He can no longer afford a lawyer. He feels so powerless, helpless and hopeless that he cannot fight most of what his wife is putting him through in court. He represents himself these days.

He has stopped looking after himself and is always looking sad . He also lost his job due to his arrest and all the drama. He was arrested because he tried to go see his kids at his former home and his wife called the police that she was afraid of him and that he had come to harass her. Police arrested him even without any traces of any harassment. Note that he moved out of the family house voluntarily thinking that the period of separation would ease tension between him and his wife.

I always feel sad seeing him in this state and just wish that he could recover and bounce back. He is considering moving back to Nigeria.

Have you gone through divorce in the UK or do you know anyone who has? What was the experience and what advice would you give someone going through this?

He should move on and look for other jobs. The downfall of a man is not the end of his life. His children will eventually look for him if they care. Such women end up regretting their actions. When he has got money he could look for a lawyer to gain access to his children. There are plenty of women looking for a man too. He could get one that will help heal his wounds.

I remember some years back, a school in the north (name withheld) invited the university of cape Town for a competition. Capetown sent anyhow students just to at least fulfil all righteousness and not disappoint. They got defeated. Next thing, the northern students started bragging on social media that they are a far better school than cape Town lol.

Back to the topic, competitions like these, you don't expect premium attendance. Those Ivy league schools don't get time for such and even if they do, they just send some of their less serious students to attend. Nigerians on the other hands will send the best of the best to compete and at the end of the day start beating their chest over mediocrity.

You are dead wrong on schools in Ivy League not sending their students for such completions. The truth is that they do. I know because I know. If you want to know how I know, contact me privately. Schools abroad send their pupils to competitions and they like it a lot. Mathematics Olympiad is competed among children in Set 1 for maths in U.K. So don’t give people wrong impression.
