From most of the responses so far, I can now understand why protesters chose Lekki Toll gate as their hangout. They are not really protesting against police brutality. Rather they are angry with government for borrowing money to build a bridge and collecting toll to pay the debt. In as much as I love accountability too, it appears that rather than demand for accountability, these protesters wanted the whole bridge development to be demolished and no toll collected. In many developed countries, monies are borrowed to develop infrastructure and people pay toll on roads to be able to recoup the debts back. Yet they pay more taxes than we pay in Nigeria. Yet they don’t complain. But the people can demand for information and accountability instead of destroying the structures. And I know that these protests are sponsored by enemies of Tinubu because they could not match his financial strength during elections. That’s the crux of the matter. There are a few gullible ones among the protesters who may not know what’s happening. But the truth must be told for who cares to know the truth.

If Lagosians are lazy and strangers from all walks of life developed Lagos then they have a claim to it, just like a true-born Lagosian. Obasanjo would have convicted Tinubu if he used government money to build structures for himself. He was at CCT and was not convicted. Were PDP members his friends? I don’t have a crystal ball to gaze into the future but I know his past. He did well for Lagos and all Lagosians know that. He solidified the foundation for better Lagos. This Lagos state is the envy of all other states in Nigeria and Tinubu contributed immensely to that. Yes he might have also benefitted from the system. But how many politicians in Nigeria ever built a good system, talk of less of benefiting from it? Most politicians come to destroy and steal. But he came to build and benefitted from what he built. That’s the truth about Tinubu. My hope is that he can translate the same to Nigeria at large. Buhari has disappointed me with his behaviour and character which is not what we used to know.
