PoliticsRe: List Of All The Unions That Have Directed Their Workers To Go On Strike by DrMPH: 12:52pm On Nov 14, 2023

If FG is serious, this is the time to get the court not just to arrest the NLC President but to also remove him as the President.

This is abuse of office and power. He meddled into matters that does not concerns him. He is just being politically and what he did is to cause serious security risk to the Nation
Ah! Nigeria is finished. There used to be what is called 'discernment ' by educated minds. Now people just regurgitate what they get on a WhatsApp platform, no one tries to follow the issues. I keep asking myself, how did he meddle in politics? A photo taken with LP candidate in a separate event (like other NLC presidents haven't done in a public fora?). Was a notice of strike issued? For how long? Would the narrative be different if he had done it in another state than his own ( especially in a much despised region?). One man's ambition has done a number on a generation of people and they'll pass it to future generations. Even Soyinka is now towing the degenerate path. Tribalism is the greatest juju of all times.

Wike is reaping from his hard work. He even seem more important than most Governors.

SMH! Still boasting of powerful men instead of institutions. Only Obidients are reaping the fruits of criticising the anomaly orchestrated by Wike. SMH again!

One of the very few sensible statements on this thread by Teenaira, indeed honestly speaking majority Nigerian youths on Nairaland, & the general society are daft & clueless, the replies on this thread is proof of that, just read the reply of DrMPH above me.
When have conjectures become measures of intelligence? A thread about Prof Soyinka calling ex president Buhari an idiot is on the front page. You can't admit tribalism and sensationalism have a strong hold on educated minds even in the region of the person whose comment you quoted my moniker in. You're as naive as s/he is, by believing Obi (a south Eastern) has an underhand dealings to destabilize Nigeria. This is the shameful thought pattern I talked about. Show me any country where people are more powerful than institutions that do not have the same challenges we have now or something close. But no, the corrupt are good in your own eyes. Shame on you all. Educated indeed!

Teenaira:
The NLC President forgot his position and his responsibilities as he decided to drag the NLC into the political terrain through Labour Party ( Obi’s disciples ) . So, what should first be investigated is why NLC was dragged into politics in imo state. So if the NLC chairman went to do politics in his state, what concerns Nigeria as a country with that. A lot of nonsense is just happening in this country. There is also a court injunction stopping labour from going on strike. Yet Mr NLC chairman, Ajaero is bigger than the court and has gone ahead to declare a strike. We are on impunity mode, let everybody continue to do anything they like until government decides to use the big stick.
Another oppressed in love with the oppressors. You don't know you're destroying the foundation future generations would stand on, by being selectively moral. Please, remind me which government disobeyed a substantive Court order to release the immediate past CBN governor. See as you're foaming in the mouth. You want NLC to more more righteous than the supposed custodian of constitutional order. How will Nigeria make progress like this?

this is a useless NLC they are not useful in anyway
Yes, until the government of the day removes the rug completely off the feet of people you care about both in public sector and organized private sector. People will have eyes but cannot see because of tribalism. Does this government look like one that has the interest of the masses at heart? For the first time since 1999 we have an overbloated federal government (highest number of ministries) being funded by the masses' sacrifice of subsidy while the government has not met the basic conditions for wage increase (across board) or even policies to help the poor.

Look at ASUU today, they clipped their wings in the last administration, and today they have no fight left in them. You should be worried about the quality of education your kids will get from the dissatisfied workforce (if you have any lecturer as friend).

The moment NLC cracks, you had better relocate to a neighbouring country because it will be disastrous. It is the only pressure group remaining, and sadly it is always the modus operandi of state captors to use undiscerning public to question the relevance of such institutions so they can cripple it.

Are you aware, there are states not paying 30k minimum wage? Let's even forget promotion, I mean 30k in this economy. I just dey laff. Nigerians with sensationalism. They always fight for their oppressors.

Reality has set in now. The Labour party hype backed by the fickle Gen Y and Gen Z folks is fizzling out gradually.

The established parties well grounded at the ward levels backed with state resources and power are getting back to their position.

A reason why PDP fared better than the "loud" labour party
Lol. So your anger is about the noise Obi was able to generate for LP in less than 8 months and still scored over 6M votes according to INEC? That's the grouse most of your have with LP. Now, how has the established party entrenched democrazy in your very own generation (not your kids' yet)? Let me guess, it doesn't matter right? The criminal political structures should remain so long it's not a party Obi belongs to. Myopic Nigerians. It may even shock you that Obi will contest 2027 elections under PDP, if that's what's making you hate on LP. Guess what, he will still have the same cult-followership. I wonder what you will do then.

INEC and APC una well done.

There are videos of the fraud all over the internet.

Supreme Court judges start salivating, Hope Uzodinma will give two months of Imo state FAAC allocation to consecrate the electoral fraud as usual..

Dr Adeyomi Adedokun the Orsu Collation officer and Prof. Abayomi Fasina the State Collation officer from FUOYE ekiti, enjoy your share of the Uzodinma loot. 👍👍
My brother, pre-written results everywhere. Go to the 'useless' iRev and see for yourself. Accredited voters will be 110, total valid votes will be 550. Funny thing is they can write another original EC8A, and correct the anomalies, and then tender them in court while opposition parties will keep gnashing their teeth. I mean, how can a political party get access to original EC8A before elections? That is a new low in our democratic history.

So sad. I'm not even from Kogi, but I'm just thinking about the workers who have had the most harrowing experience in the last 8 years. No meaningful development in the state either. They're like people that have been in darkness and have now been condemned to remain in it because of our weak electoral system. People have sacrificed their humanity on the altar of political patronage. My colleagues in APC have parked their cars, they now commute by bus or look for free ride, yet can't stop blabbing about anything APC. Sometimes I wonder if people can truly be zombified.

153 people only voted in a unit but they packed themselves like bees to Polling units in Lagos crying they were not allowed to vote. They can only release statistics of how they voted in Lagos but not their home states.
Where is Chinedu and Obi?
Shame!
The problem some of you have is that you're far from reality. You so much want to dymistify Obi that you mistake a movement for a political ruckus. You hate it so much they he was the alleged winner of the presidential election or that he mustered over 6M votes. No, every goat that contest under LP must also have that showing, else you call them elllupp. You're the one in delusion, most obidients are not. Even Obi knows what has changed between February 25 and now. Don't be so quick to disregard the rot, it might affect your state too. Where a useless governor is sure of winning. You folks lack foresight, you celebrate the reaping of a single fruit but at the expense of the destruction of the whole tree.
If this is how elections will be conducted in Nigeria now, then you should be afraid for your family and kids, if you have them here. It means Nigeria will not get any better for them.

They are kids who have no values. That our democracy has now become the survival of the most criminal isn't something to celebrate. That a governor without the goodwill of the people can take advantage of the weakness of our democratic institution to perpetuate himself in power, is not something to celebrate. It is IMO and Kogi today, tomorrow it might be Zamfara, Lagos or Delta. Somehow, someone close to them will be caught in the crossfire of this lawlessness (e.g their people in state civil service). My hearts goes out to the citizens of these states who cannot wriggle free from the evil of these taskmaster because of our lack of electoral values. Kogites especially.

Just wait for your state election, so you can understand where we are at in this country. They have gone full nuclear with the tribal slurs and it is something that I love to see. The beauty of time is that it's like a cycle , we'll still revisit all these once it's time.
They underate the place of society in health and well-being. They claim to be hard working not knowing they're sacrificing 100% of their productive years chasing the currency just to live a normal life due to bad governance (too much effort for little success). They will claim to be millionaires but their kins are badly affected by bad policies and their kids might inherit the same mess their clueless president will create. OP, it is a cycle of generational madness. 8 plus 4 will be 12 by 2027. The reality would have changed for many of them, but sadly, another generation of bigots would still continue the trend. If you think Nigeria as it is presently constituted has a future, think again.

MadeINchenzen2:
We've been hopeful and praying for Nigeria to be better, year after year, president after president, there seems to be no hope in sight, every new government multiplies the suffering. Buhari wasted 8 years of the lives of the Nigerian people and it appears the present government is going to multiply the efforts of his predecessor to increase the hardship and suffering of the Nigerian people.

Can Nigerians rise up and come up with a strategy to take back their country? Let the present generation start the movement to save the future of the Next generation and the lives of Nigerians yet unborn.

Stop waiting for who will bell the cat.
No, Nigerians cannot come together. Yes, revolution is coming but won't take Nigerians coming together. Fear trumps trust anytime; it would be a mutually assured destruction when collective hardship reaches 'ground zero'.

The greatest undoing of this government is it's neglect of the fact that we're coming from what can be adjudged to be the most disastrous 8 years of our democratic history. Even his bigoted supporters soon will lose their voice. We can only hope PBAT comes off his high horse and work for the masses.

And how about the results that have been upturned due to invalid votes and overvoting? Atleast the issue of pre election matters have been rightly restored by appeal courts.
The question is how many? Kano issue doesn't even count. Try to get what I'm sorry. Nigeria has been used to systemic corruption, and it is expected they would always find a way to circumvent innovations due to weak institutions. The sad reality now is that the courts have Validated the illegalities. We were supposed to be making progress with technology (Osun comes to mind). However, to achieve a sinister motive the Nigerian Court has thrown away the baby and the bathing water, and I'm only asking, if you feel technology didn't help us, what will?

PS. Do you also know that since petitioners cannot subpoena adversarial witnesses like INEC, it would be impossible for petitioners to prove any case? A lot of things went wrong, and the consequences are in future terms.

I think someone already answered that question or you just want to be coy. Two or three of such judgments are even on today's NL front page. Pre-election matters or matters that border on qualification are not even the issue, it is what the courts have done to IREV. Since you, like the courts believe technology doesn't matter in our electoral system, just watch what would will happen in the off-season elections. After that you can judge if we've made any progress as a nation.
PoliticsRe: IREV Was Uploaded Realtime Yet There Are Still Many Litigations by DrMPH: 5:02pm On Nov 06, 2023
This one is trying so hard to turn logic on its head. State one court judgement that was based on strict compliance with the provisions of the Election Act 2022 and 1999 constitution and I'll state 10 cases that were determined on technicalities. The very thing that was meant to change the fortunes of our electoral system (IREV) has been dumped in the dustbin of history. Didn't it surprise you that INEC had to claim a 'glitch', but received no reprimand whatsoever?. Has Prof Yakubu been as vocal as he ought to be? He knows the commission didn’t bargain for what the PEPT and SC churned out as judgements. Public trust has been eroded and desperate politicians can now have their way. Why don't you wait to see how the elections in Kogi, Imo and Bayelsa would go, to be sure how backward we have travelled in our electoral jurisprudence. We're back to 1999. No sitting governor would prefer a collation system that makes recourse to technology. That chapter is closed for Nigeria.

Now, if technology couldn't help us, what will?

BluntCrazeMan:
Some interpretations need to be made by the courts..
That's what I said.
And that's what I am still saying.

This is not a case of taking anyone to court.
This is a case of trying to understand the judgements better.
They think constitutional issues starts and ends with politics. Now, let me help them put things in perspective:
1. Since INEC can do or undo, their electoral guidelines won't be strictly adhered to. Parties won't trust whatever method they decide to use, knowing they have been so empowered to change the rules in the middle of the game, and probably claim glitch
2. Desperate politicians would prefer the approach they can manipulate, hence the RIVERS model will be the new strategy. Stop e-transmission, change figures, damage BVAS, and make the manual collation war-like.
3. Gradually, anything electronic loses value and we're back to 1999.

I can tell you that Prof Yakubu intended many things, but not this brazen validation of
its non-compliance. I am sure INEC wouldn't have mind a reprimand provided the provisions of the constitution and electoral act we're adjudged to be sacrosanct. That wouldn't have still stopped the 'cook-a-technicality' by the judges. Now, we lost the forest just to save one tree. Watch as incumbent governors reverse our electoral fortunes to MANUAL. Since IREV is useless, which incumbent would want a collation that makes recourse to IREV? If they can't shut it down, they'll ensure no valid results are uploaded, and then with the connivance of INEC, blurred CTC will be given to opposition for legal battle. 2023 has sealed our the fate of our electoral system, unless the 2022 ACT is amended.
