Nairaland General › Terrible Customer Service From Jumia - My Experience by DrObum(op): 7:47pm On Dec 05, 2017 |
Hi all, Recently, I read the lamentations of a nairalander who bought a phone that was shipped globally by Jumia. Of course, the phone had no warranty and got bad after a lil while and some people on that thread blamed him for that and totally exonerated .
Well, let me thrill/bore you with mine. About 2 weeks ago, I bought a HP laptop 255 G6 E2-9000e AMD FreeDOS with order number 339218172 from Jumia. This was delivered to me in Benin here. I was very busy around the time that it was delivered and didn't get to use it much, so I lost the golden opportunity to return the crap delivered to me as a laptop.
I installed windows 10 on it. It wouldn't fail to give me a blue screen of death with an error message video_tdr_failure and restart itself. I have tried all prescribed solutions to that, both online and from computer gurus and I took it for repairs to a software engineer who also tried all software solutions but to no avail. He thinks that the hard drive could be culpable.
I didn't see why I would buy a laptop just about 2 weeks ago and have to spend money on repairs already. Mind you, this laptop has a 1yr warranty on Jumia. So, I filled an online contact card and also called Jumia customer care.
Now to my chagrin, Jumia said they don't know a HP service centre around Benin where they delivered the laptop and promised to get back to me. That promise I still await as I type as it's like our wait for the return of the messiah.
Now, my worries are; - why would Jumia allow sale of crappy goods on it's site without service centres to cater for customer's needs? Do they think business ends with just the delivery of purchased goods?
- if all Jumia HP service centres are in Lagos, should they not state it on their website to warn potential buyers who don't reside in Lagos?
- why would the customer care of Jumia give a concerned client a time that they would get back to one, conveniently fail and not feel bothered about it?
Well, I'll continue my wait for them and keep you posted. We must say no to crappy services from these online retailers.

jboixxx:
Same Error message? Were you able to successfully rolled back the driver installation or you installed via the Recovery Manager?
Try system restore from Safe Mode to select a restore point that precedes the driver update, else, you'll have to go for Windows Reinstall, NOT reset.
cc: computerboy and androidking, any alternative solution? I think there's a command line solution to this but I can't figure it out. Yeah, same error message. I've not been able to roll back the driver. Didn't create a restore point as the system is barely 10 days old. I've even reinstalled windows 10 but that didn't solve the problem. It's really frustrating. Thanks though |

jboixxx: Sorry for the inconvenience. Just been able to read your second screenshot from the system. Try this step below and give us the feedback.
Power ON and OFF your PC 3x in order to enter Automatic Repair mode for diagnosis options. A StartUp Repair screen should come up with a tab of "Advanced Option", click the Advanced To get you to the Recovery Environment. Select Troubleshoot, then, Advanced Option > StartUp Settings > Restart.
After the Restart, select Safe Mode from the screen. The PC will start in Safe Mode, go to Device Manager (Window logo +R > devmgmt.msc or search for device manager via the cortana) and expand the Display Adapters, right click on the hardware (I believe it should be AMD ***), then Uninstall > OK > Restart to Normal Mode >
1) search for the correct driver of the adapter either via your Intel or HP site.
OR
2) If you haven't done a Clean Format before, you should have your HP Recovery Manager intact, search for and launch it, go to Drivers and Applications Reinstall tab, select the "Intel Chipset Installation Utility and Driver" and the corresponding driver for your display adapter.
Hope you wouldn't mind the long write-up. Try it and let's see.
Hello bro, Tried this solution, however had that BSOD again now. |

jboixxx: Did you just install a new program, a piece of hardware, update a driver, install a Windows update, or any kind of change? If so, there's a very good chance that the change you made caused the BSOD. If you are able to start it up in Safe Mode, then revert the changes made, or use Startup in Last known good configuration or System Restore. Yes, I did update a driver. Thanks man |

udemzyudex: Most of the brand new laptop they sell comes with freeDos, all you have to do is get a Windows 10 cd, it's #150 or #200 depending on your location.
Get that first and I'll put you through. Thank you brother. I'll do that and get back to you |
