im curious?? what kind of medical doctors are being produced?? everywhere we go, doctors trained in nigeria hold their head up! both in residency programmes and post -residency.so, what u talking about??

well, its sad!! i did my housemanship there, and it was pretty decent!! at least clinical training by naija standards!!, i think they do have a population problem though! but again wch school in naija has an adequate student/teacher/facility ratio??

i wont confirm or deny this report but what i can say is this, what ever we doctors or nurses do, is basically a reflection of the general society! secondly,the doctor /patient ratio is just crazy.crazy enough to run you mad! meanwhile, some patients are deluded enough to think doctors aint human and that they wont get a reaction when you are rude to a doctor, trust me, in a society without decorum like ours,if you treat a doc without respect, he will most likely return the favour!during my housemanship,i was threatened many times in the ER by patients' relatives who think that thier wards deserve instant management , when infact just by your initial contact with the patient ,you have been able to discern those who need immediate help and those who an wait( an important skill as govt hospitals are EXTREMELY UNDERSTAFFED!)

AS per those, those who think that we dont pass our medical exams in the usa, well, thats news to me because, i smashed my board exams within 8 months of coming to the usa and im presently doing an observership to add to my resume. trust me, if you know the conditions we operate in nigeria,the paper work we have to do,regarding medicolegal issues within the hospital, you will be shocked! but i still do not give excuses for some very rude health workers!

matrim, dont mind them! pple who have no idea about medical laws just say crap! U CANT JAIL ME FOR PASSING AN ACCIDENT VICTIM, NO WHERE IN THE WORLD, !! U MAY JAIL ME FOR "ACCEPTING" A PATIENT IN MY HOSPITAL and that patient dies outta my irresponsibility! i may even choose to refer after administering first aid! if i am in naija where d patient has no money, i will only do to the best of my ability! u cant force me to treat a gun shot victim brought to my private ER if he cant afford it, come to a GOVT hospital in yankee without health insurance, make u see as dem go treat u like leper!!

i support the idea of treating gunshot victims without a report but i will not be compelled to, just the same way ,i am not compelled to accept every patient that walks into my hospital, my heart goes out to my best friend , who was killed by robbers just after he bought his car and was going home to show his parents, he was also refused treatment on account of d police report! 7 weeks later, a police man pointed a pistol at my head because i had treated a gunshot victim who told me he had just been robbed, as i was administering treatment , i sent d male nurse to call the police, before they even talked to the patient, a pistol was on my head! i was arrested.thank GOD that i went to a military school as my former classmates(pilots with NAF) just drove to the hospital shortly after i was taken away, that was my saving grace as the nurses told him what happened!, the medical director ran away!!

@iice, when i read your post, i laff cos, u cant be that crazy! ive seen it all with freaks, especially in d med region, u see them in shirts, ties and think they are normal, and in terms of being freakish, my threshold is abnormally high, so u can imagine the crazy pple i talk about!! and for those who dont know, female doctors are spme of the most Hot set of creatures GOD made, they are ladies, only in the streets!! just assure them that thier gist wont hit town and that u dont kiss and tell!!

its not about the mega millions alone, its about the job availability and the beauty of it is that it is one of the few fields that allows you to move to another field with little hassle! i have at least 23 of my class mates in the banking or health insurance field! my consultant urologist (ubth)just finished from law school!! more than half of the guys from my graduating class has an mba even as residents all over the world!, no beef FL! we rock!
