Leonbonapart:
Both doctors and science are contrary to the word and will of God...
science should explain how a virgin was able to conceive with sperm or knowing a man, how the burning furnace couldn't hurt the four, how a man was raised to heaven with his body, soul and spirit....

I am on the LORD'S side
I am sorry sir but I disagree. On what basis do you make this statement.
And logical deduction bears me out on this.
If God is all knowing and expresses Himself brought His Word and His will and science is merely a natural human curiousity into how the world works then science is man's process of discovery into what God already put in place and knows. The scope ones knowledge is great than the scope of the other.

I find no evidence that the Word of God is contrary to science.

Instead I find evidence in the Bible that corroborates what scientific theory.

Examples

1. Isaiah 40:22... He (God) sitteth upon the circle of the earth.
That statement was made long before science confirmed that the earth was round ad not flat as generally thought. Incidentally it was people who were supposedly bible scholars (Roman Catholic priesthood) who fought to maintain the idea that world was flat believing they were scripturally correct.
It is also important to note that this was probably the beginning of generalized but wrong idea that science and religion (in this case Christianity) are diametrically opposed to one another.

2. Job 26:7.... He (God) hangeth the earth upon nothing.
Where many world religions believed various ideas about the state of being one the earth from it sitting on a giant turtle to it riding on the back of an elephant, the Bible clearly stated here that the earth is suspended on nothing, a fact space exploration has borne out. The earth is indeed sitting in a vacuum in space hanging upon nothing.

3. Revelations 1:7... when He (Jesus) cometh in the sky ALL eyes will see Him.
In our current comfort with modern technology we tend to take certain things for granted. Instantaneous worldwide communications is one of them. A little over 50 years ago it was not possible to get the entire world to see a single image much less watch a human being with everyone irregardless of location on the planet, watching. Now, global tv viewing by global audiences is possible via satellite tv I.e. It now possible for EVERY eye to see Jesus when He returns in he sky. That was not possible as at the time those words in arevelations chapter 1 were written. Even if He was so humongous that the whole of one hemisphere could see Him, what about the other hemisphere

There are other examples but I think I have made my point.

What mani is trying to find out God already knows. If God writes a book then that. Ok would be consistent with the knowledge He has including the things we now call scientific discovery.

So please don't buy into the lie that Christianity and Science are opposed.

P.S.
I am a man of science (medical doctor) AND a Christian Minister. I have healed by medicine and I have been used of God to minister healing to the sick.
HealthRe: No End In Sight To My Medical Problems; I Might Be Dying Slowly by drphantom: 8:11am On Jul 03, 2017
CrescentMoon:
The first time I became aware of me falling sick was in 2007. I was 26 at the time. Since then it has been a myriad of medical troubles.

It has been cycles of malaria, bacterial infections, disc problems and headache. Every night, I take drugs before I could be able to sleep. I always have antimalarials, antibiotics, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and muscle relaxants handy. If malaria symptoms occur, I would take antimalarials and there would be improvement within minutes. And would then complete the dosage in 3 days. By fourth day, symptoms of bacteria infection would occur; I would take ciprofloxacin and get relieved within minutes. Once I complete the dosage, headache would strike, and once aspirin is taken, I get well. But I would keep repeating aspirin every night until gastric ulceration sets in. I would then buy omeprasole and cimetidine to treat ulcer. While ulcer treatment is ongoing, malaria would strike again, and I would take antimalarials. If antimalarials don't work, I would know that the symptoms are bacterial and take antibiotic. If there is no relief, I would combine antimalarials and antibiotic and there would be a relief. It has been like this since 2007. I don't go to hospital again because I have grown to know these symptoms and what doctors would prescribe.

For the past 2 weeks, I have been battling 'herniated disc' problem in my lower back. It started the day I bent down suddenly and I heard a snapping sound at my back bone. I started using norflex, calcium supplement and diclofenac. I feel mild relief because I can't stop my daily hustle to rest while the disc heals. If I dont work in a day, I won't eat or pay bills.

Note that I undergo HIV test almost weekly.

How do the poor tackle medical problems in this hellhole of a country?

Lalasticlal.a, please help me move this to fp.
Dear OP,

I am quite sorry to hear of all your travails.

You sound quite knowledgeable about the medication you have been taking but the way you have been taking them and the way you describe undergoing tests e.g. Weekly HIV tests suggest to me that you have been doing all these things with on your own presumptions or He advice of someone who is not a qualified medical professional. No doctor will ask you to do weekly HIV test when it is widely known that the window period for HIV virus infection to test positive is 6 months!

If I am right my suggestion to you it to go to a certified private hospital run by a consultant physician or go to government teaching hospital (the queues are longer but the cost is lower) and find out what is wrong with you.
You have been self medicating and that has given you additional problems.
The case highlights the importance of getting working through the proper channels and process of getting healthcare:
1. Go to a hospital
2. See a doctor
3. Doctor listens to your complaints
4. Doctor asks further questions
5. Doctor has suspicions as to what the problem is
6. Doctor sends you for tests to confirm or refute those suspicions
7. Doctor treats you based on his suspicions and/or results of the tests

If you have not gone through this process then you cannot fault Nigerian hospitals (that is not to say our healthcare system does not have its problems but let us not make those problems worse by not doing the right thing).

P.S.
To those who tow the line of Nigerian hospitals being rubbish and Nigerian Healthcare professionals (doctors nurses pharmacists etc) being quacks; I leave you with three thing s to think about

1. It was a Nigerian hospital and Lagos State health authorities that showed the rest of the world how best practices in how to contain Ebola. If it wasn't for them this country would have suffered what Liberia suffered.

2. No healthcare system is perfect including the one you want to run to to in the US. See statistics below.

3. Nigerian Hospitals are not necessarily as bad as you think. Just make sure you are in a good hospital and seeing the right type of doctor. Not all doctors ave the same type of training I.e. Clinical specialty.
See CNN's Issa Sassays gratitude to a Nigerian Hospital for saving her mothers life below.

Let me save you the trouble. Nigeria has no centralized gas distribution system anywhere.

Individual privately owned high brow estates and building complexes may have but they are rare.

The OP posted something generally as though it was an issue that applied to the majority of Nigerians, which it cearly does not.

I hope you did not misconstrue gas meter to mean one of those gas cylinder regulators with pressure meters?

Anyway, like I said, I'm waiting for your pictures to prove me wrong.

DeGuyNxtDoor:
Believe it or not, gas explosions are more common than you think. So what can you do if you hear a hissing sound, or smell gas inside your home?

1.Check the stove: If it's safe, walk over to your stove and make sure all your burners are turned off. It's a common mistake: Someone bumps into the stove, and the gas is accidentally turned on.

2. Keep the lights off: Don't turn the lights on, as that could spark an explosion if gas is present. Make sure you have a flashlight handy.

3. Open all the doors and windows: Make sure you ventilate the house. Keep doors and windows open, that'll help get any gases out.

4. Know where your gas meter is located: When there isn't an emergency, go outside your home and check to see where your meter is, and how to operate it. You can shut it off if you smell gas. Use a wrench to turn the valve from the on to off positions.

5. Get out: finally, you should make sure you evacuate your home. Get a safe distance away — across the street will work. Once you feel safe, call for help.

Good afternoon my big nairaland family...
I'm in peril right now...
My ex boss has taken all the joy and happiness in my life...

I recently got a job in a small law firm as a secretary with a small amount of salary for startup..
Just 2weeks ago, I noticed that my boss started growing cold towards me...
I searched myself several times to know if I had offended him in any way.... I was always punctual in my place of work, courteous to visitors, and always polite....
He went away on a trip, and sent a letter for me through mail that my services won't be needed any more that I shouldn't bother to come back...

I was shocked perplexed and everything bad thing you can think of...
cry
I am so sad... He hasn't paid me my 2months salary and he has said he won't be able to pay because of recent downturn in revenue in the office.. The first month he said this I continued working because I felt he will eventually pay... Now he has retrenched me, I'm hopeless....
I have borrowed things on credit hoping to pay when he pays me... Now I'm severely stranded...
I am so vexed right now....
I know I can't afford a lawyer to sue him but Karma is surely my strengthhold...
I'm really tempted to expose the firm.. But you will never know when it could come back to haunt you...

In this life I will surely make it against all odds... Nevertheless all enemies of progress like my former boss and plenty more that are coming
My sincere apologies on your current situation.

Just. Few thoughts from me.

1. Never define yourself by your current circumstances. Doing that only limits your ability to move forward into the future and leave those circumstances in the past. Using phrases like " I am finished " will thus become a self fulfilling prophesy.

2. Revenge is never the answer. Apart from tainting your conscience and setting you up for similar treatments from others you may wrong in the future, revenge will also misdirect your creativity; something you could have channeled into getting another job, getting out of debt or even starting your own business. By all means, look for ways to get what is your due in terms of back pay but don't embark on a revenge mission without digging the figurative 2 graves.

I wish you all the best as you summount this temporary challenge

Please quick question.
You are invited for an interview and asked to make a PowerPoint presentation to show your IT skills.
What do you do huh
Do you make something simple and professional
Or
Do you make something playful with lots of graphics and animation.
Depends on the company.

My advice since it is IT, do a presentation that incorporates and shows off your IT skills; hyperlinks, programmable buttons, and all sorts of mods. WOW them with your skills. That's what they want to see.

As to whether it should be professional or 'wild'. Hint about he company , what they do and the image they want to project and make your presentation accordingly.

If an ad firm , be wild and crazy and animated. If it's a consulting firm they expect serious professionalism.

Hope this helps

Fidelity bank invited with sms. Different company different methods. But this smells like scan tho.
You miss my point sir so let me reiterate.

NO COMPANY WORKING BY INTERNATIONAL BEST PRACTICES INVITES BY SMS.

No company that respects you will invite you for an interview by SMS.

Any company that does does not place value on you and will eventually 'rubbish' you, expecting you to go cap in hand and humbly 'beg to apply'.

If a company is a serious player in any industry and not a one man business then they will treat you with respect and call you.

I'm not saying the OP should not go but he should do his due diligence and if it is genuine and he's truly being considered for a position with the firm, then the way he was recruited is an indication of the kind of treatment that will follow his recruitment.

Sequel to your response to the published job for customer service duty, Nitro Gas Limited in affiliation with ACR GROUP NIGERIA, have considered you to have an interview session with ACR GROUP.

This interview session is going to be of two phases, a written test and oral session, which would last for about 2 hours.

Should you have any suggestion, inconvinience date for the interview, kindly write us to know when to reschedule you if the vacant position still available.

The interview is going to be with Deputy Managing Director, Human Resources Manager and the Managing Director.

Date: Monday, 3rd April , 2017.
Time: 9 am prompt
Venue: No 95, Ikorodu Road, Fadeyi bus/stop, Fadeyi Lagos State.

My advice:
Do your due diligence
1. Check out the website. Does it look legit? Does it look professional?
2. Visit the location before the interview date, preferably on a weekend and take a look around. Does it look like a place an oil and gas firm would use as an office? Ask the Okayama guys , mallams, shop owners around the place " what kind of business goes on there during the week?"

All this is to convince YOU of my next statement: IT IS A SCAM!!!

Why?

No HR department of a serious company invites you for an interview with an SMS. PERIOD.

Any company that does that is either a scam or the company is too nprpfessional to go by standard recruiting norms. Either way this is trouble down the line.

Hope this helps.

Dear Mr. Autojosh,

I will like to correct a false claim in your article. The term [M+S] definitely mean "Mud and Snow" but it's never classified as a winter tyre. Any tyre that carries the label [M+S] is called "All Season" tyre, which means its can serve both in the winter and summer. The designated winter tyres will definitely have the label "winter" written on it or have images of snowflakes. I personally have seen cars with winter tyres on them, I advised the drivers to get rid of them not because of the damage to the road but they're noisy tyres especially upwards 60mph.

I don't know if winter tyres damages Nigerian roads.

Plus you erroneously believe that every bad thing that happens is Gods fault. You view of the world must really be parochial.

I really feel for you. The irony is that you don't realize that you castigate one belief system while you yourself are espousing a belief system as there are no absolute evidences for your claims in an absence of God either.

Again, a diversionary tactic. I never claimed to know it all and I will not start now. I simply shared my experience (one of several regarding).
Look at the title of the page and the OPs original post! This was meant to be a forum for people to share their experiences.

You and your kind came onboard with your conclusions based on your experiences and tried to rubbish other people's to the point where you insult a person you don't know by calling him gullible simply because you have the anonymity of social media

By all means, have your opinion but have the humility to accept the possiblility that you might be wrong since you don't know it all. And have the decency to disagree with other peoples opinions but respect it all the same.

Your preconceived notions clearly show through in all the assumptions you made of my claim:
From assuming I didn't know what I was talking about, to assuming I had had cancer treatments and to your most recent faux pax, assuming I am able to pray for amputee and have their limbs regrow.

I never claimed to be able to perform miracles.
I simply only shared my experience. Period.

So, my learned acquaintance, I wish you all the best in your world devoid of definitive and personal miraculous acts of God. I choose to continue to live in mine. I can only pray your eyes are open to the realitities that exist beyond the current knowledge of men.

Chrisrare:
If ur God is real and performs miracles, why didn't he prevent d cancer from plaqueing u? He only performed d so called miracle after u must have undergone several cancer treatments.

If God is real, y doesn't he heal amputtees?? Why do miracles fail in situations where luck and coincidence cant solve the situation? The blind get healed, d deaf, d dumb, d lame, cancer patients, hiv patients, they all get miraculous healing thru men of God, but take an amputated/limbless man to these same men of God dat performed d healings and all of a sudden, d ''miracles'' ceases to work, cos there is no way d so called men of God can dubiously manipulate an amputated limb to grow.

So wen i say miracles are just luck and coincidence, i know what i'm saying. We have all experienced miraclulous happenings in our lives, they r due to luck or coincidence. But because some peeps cant explain how it happened, dey attribute it to a spiritual being.
Again, your prejudice shows through. I did not undergo a single cancer treatment neither was my healing prolonged. I approached no man of God for my healing. I simply opened my Bible and followd the principles laid out for healing I found there. I believed what it said I should believe and got the results it said I would get.

You erroneously (and arrogantly I should add) assume that you know how my story played out.

It is obvious that you have reached your clonclusion on the subject and your mind is made up. I wish you well in your assumptions.

My one point has and remains this: don't try o force your reality on others and don't downplay or insult things you don't understand
