The 20year is a grown man. Please stop making excuses for him .Nobody put a gun to his head, and the slavery part does not add up bro.. They are jobs out there other than uber that the man can do....

And one thing you fail to understand, they way you pity this man . A lot of drivers will not pity car owners.. You seem to be looking from one angle..

And what do you think weekly rental should be? You seems to be advocating something that will be fair .. But what you don't get is that no matter how low rental is ,most drivers will still give excuses not to meet up.

Transport business is a very tough business, you have to be as tough as the people you dealing with. Example for instance, I do all my repairs both major and minor. And I ask for 30k weekly delivery.. Upon all my fairness driver still owes me money,. The last driver owe me.over 100k naira. I keep giving him chance to meet up ,I just kept quiet .. And finally I collected my car from him. He kept telling me he three kids and another baby. So what am I supposed to do.

You are looking at things from one view..

Lately me (dru23). has been getting bashed regards to uber driver needing rest. I do not have issues with drivers resting..

One thing the people doing the bashing have to understand is that am running a business. Has a business man, I have duties and responsibilities. Most of guys don't know how partners get loans to start this business, nor do you guys care.

People have to know that every jobs comes with is own risk. Cops, firefighters, teachers ,street hawkers, bankers ,business men, oil ring workers, truck drivers etc. The most important thing is for you to know what you are getting yourself into. And some profession will require you to work long hours. And some jobs will take time away from your family. But it is up to the individual to figure out how they are going to navigate those risks or challenges.

It is not my job to help you figure it out for you . My job as a business man is to provide the tools for you to do your job...

Health issues and taking time off. I don't have issues with anybody taking time off. If you need to take time off to rest or attend to personal issues . Yes, take the time off. I have no issues with that, but when it gets to a point that your time off or personal issues starts to affect my business, than we have to part ways ...

You can't expect a business owner to be giving you time off all time and than expect them to hold your position for you till you come back.

Conclusion: As a business man , am here to run a business, am not a charity organization. Am not here to help solve people's issue.

As a business man I will need to put my emotions aside and do what is right for my business. And you also as an employee you will need to do what is right for yourself.. Just because I run a business does not mean I have the funds to be generous to every employee.

To the ones out their bashing me and calling me names. Transport business is a very tough business. Has an investor you have to be tough as the drivers. Till today a former driver is still owing me over 100k naira. He knows who he is , and my last driver owes me 100k naira. The last driver was telling me he has three kids money is tight, etc. So with those loses what account would I write those loses to ?

Again am here to run a business and if people don't like how I do things .. They can always go to the bank and take out a loan . And than run their own business.. Transport business is a tough business and I have to be on my toes at all times...

Dru23 can you see this?

Your point of view most times irks me!
You're so self centered!

I don't drive, infact I'm based in Ado Ekiti.
But your point of views varying from ehailing, to vehicle sales, to vehicle maintenance and even your oil business are so wack and very non pragmatic. You're not open to ideas, you see yourself as some kind of island. It's just crazy.

Why will you be making snide comment about drivers getting rest?? You're just....... I don't know.

While making 100 every other week might seem impossible, one can achieve a strike rate of 85% consistently. A lot of people out there gross more than that week in week out.

All you need is a plan....actually you don’t really need a plan, just have common sense
.

You guys should stop discouraging investors. Let them have a taste of the pie or die.

Remember we have people looking for cars to drive. If investors don’t bring in cars, what will happen to them?
You want the drivers on nairaland to come for your head? The guy that you are commenting now, took a whole page to insult me and warn me ..fear catch me and than took another post to dedicated to me warning me not to comment on his post with memes and stated that am sending drivers to their early grave.. I want to give a shout out to every Uber/bolt drivers in here, una dey try, you guys are the real MVP, they really say who no go no know, Omo it looks fun but it's not easy, I just had my first experience, after registering my car with bolt I just did my first ride yesterday Friday, I say let me even try this hustle n see, because I kukuma like driving n I've been a driver for 2 companies b4. I woke up by 5am, got set by 6am and I enter road, because I'm coming from ojo alaba int'l side so I planned to drive straight to the island, that's where I want to work, heading to Mile2 I got a rider from barracks (now y is bolt app not telling us where the rider wants to go until u start the trip or unless u ask them, that's crazy * unless na me nova sabi the app well) I picked up this guy n his mum, heading to Apapa, Omo see road for Apapa, containers everywhere, bad road, no single better place to pass, almost 1hr 30min to get there because of traffic after everything I ended the trip and it showed me 2100,i said it's not possible, I told my rider to please check his phone, maybe my network is disturbing it, he said yh the ride estimate 800-1900 or so, Omo vex won kill me, i stay hours for bad road n traffic, una dey enjoy my nice ride with cool ac and I dey burn fuel for 2100. What nonsense, honestly I no happy, but I said let me just head to the island na there money dey, trips there na just 500-700 highest 1100..Jesus christ, how do u guys do it? Seriously I wasn't encouraged at all, then u will carry some annoying arrogant rider, that feels because u are riding them then u are of no value, Omo abeg I no dey do again, una dey try I swear, abeg any partner here way get driver way dey pay up weekly biko appreciate them o, n sometimes accommodate some things from them, IT IS NOT EASY una too much, it will take alot of hard work to make money, no be play play, why is it cheap, good for the riders n bad for me, how would a nice clean ride with comfort n a chauffeur pay so low, is it not supposed to be costly smh even ordinary cab yellow taxi way no get ac, dirty car will never take so low amount, smh, una try.... Please don't forget I still have Honda civic 2008 for sell check my profile for details

So what is wrong been called a driver ? We have truck driver, school bus driver, Limo driver, shuttle driver (used at the airport) Mass transit driver , party bus driver, designated driver , Formula one race driver, etc ... do you have low self esteem? All these forms of drivers are jobs abroad, some you even need a certificate for like truck driving... Omo it seems like you have a big ego

Very correct baba.

I'm not advocating full week off or days off in every week.

All im trying to say to drivers who drives on a dailys should have some days off in a month. Having a day or two off doesn't even mean the person won't meet up to the weekly rental payment. Its for the good of all especially for those on rental.

I was talking do a guy in lekki some weeks back, you needed to see sleep all over him yet this guy was still accepting request moving Lagos around all in the name of I'm on HP.

Years back in portharcourt I dosed off on steering while driving home after all night drive it was the covet I clamp that woke me up. Thank God u wasntbon a high speed.

Most road accident can be traced down to drivers sleeping due to tireness and inadequate rest.

If I become a partner owner tomorrow I'll tell who so ever rental my vehicle to take a day or two off to rest.

Who no go no know.
Yes if you become a partner 2morrow... you can run your business the way you seem fit...you can even give out on hp, do half rental, give it out on weekends only etc .. It is your business and it is you that know how you hustle for the money .... And me personally I can't tell others how to ran their business...

But me personally I will run my business they way I seem fit to do so ..... We all have choices to make..... And I dont want anyone to feel like they are doing me a favor either by renting from me or buying my products.......

Oga Dru. It doesn't necessarily need to affect the business, it's all about planning and willing to take care of yourself.
A driver can work hard Mon-Wednesday and pay off his remmitance, take Thursday and Friday morning off, then work for his own personal money during the weekend.
We can't over emphasize the importance of rest in this hustle, those people telling you to eat bitter kola so you go fit work well for night are not your friends at all, if you're tired and Uche is telling you to still keep moving Lagos, my brother off the app sleep!

Meanwhile, Oga Dru how were you able to resolve the shortage of oil issue in one of your partner's car? Presently facing similar issues.
The car is mine and I don't or will ever manage car for anyone.. Have been asked in the past, and I quickly decline.....

Shortage of oil issue... we top the oil for now and we are monitoring it. The oil only shortens at 3k miles ,so once am chance I will have a computable mechanic take a look at it .. I wil have them check pcv valves, engine air filter and check to See if there are any damaged or leaking hose.. I will do that and go from there..

Talking about health.

Guys lets always take out time to have a day or some days off after doing some days drive. Driving can be Very stranous couple with the bad energy one encounters on the daily especially from taxify riders.

Lately, I've notice some nasty and crazy attitude also from uber riders as well. All of these put together couple with the sleepless night during the week ends one can easily fall I'll if care ials not taken.

Last Saturday, I was dosing while driving on the lekki epe exp way and my rider was seating comfortably atbthe back seat thinking everything was ok, the request won't stop coming but immediately I ended the trip I just went offline, parked somewhere safe and slept off.

The headache is anothing one can't finish talking about.

Yesterday on my way to Benin seating in the front seat, I said let me take a nap the driver just said bros no ooh na me and you dey drive this motor ooo if you sleep me self fit fall asleep ooh. I was like i understand. That was how we started gisting and he exposed to me how dosing on steering has killed a lot of his collegues while some are seriously ill due to stress and inadequate rest after a long drive.

So Guys, this is not an issue one has to over emphasise. Tell your car partner you need some day off, its for the safety of you, your health, your rider, the other person driving in the road and even the pedestrians, the car and property.

Take out That time to rest today and save yourself the sorry case that may arise tomorrow

May God bless our hustle.
Let me chip in a bit.. This is a business and these business is not for everyone... partners do have a responsibility of their own. Some partners have to pay back loan etc..

That been said, if you are working in a corporate environment in a developed country.. Your boss or manger can give you a certain amount of time to deal with personal issues that might have . You are given sick days vacation days etc.. But once it gets to a point personal issues affects the business. Than your manger will have to decide what is important you or the business.

Business Ethics .. All businesses or business owners should practice this. But not to the point that it collapse the business.. Yes things are tough and it can also be tough for business owners..

Do not change the transmission fluid. You may not even change the engine oil and oil filter. Just let a mechanic check the engine oil level to ascertain if its properly gauged.
To play safe.. Better to change engine oil and filter, changing engine oil often does not destroy the engine like transmission..... Better to be safe than sorry...

Please enlighten me on this and if other services require that i have not mentioned. Please advice
Engine oil and filter should be change.. Transmission oil depends on how it looks.. Better to get a good mechanic to check if the transmission oil is still good .. Transmission oil usually last few years or thousands miles before changing.. It is not something you change all the time like engine oil...
