visionofbeauty: Excuse me Ma, do you have any problem with him? Do you have any business with him? Have you met him before?
You see the problem here is bitterness of the heart, try to eliminate that out of your mind. Whatever anyone post here shouldn't be your concern, read and pass, safe yourself the pains and frustrations.
I join this forum late last year, I barely post or comment on certain things, even on this thread, I only scan through the recent page and move on because everyone seems like masquerades to me here. When I came across his posts on the über thread I doubted everything about him. Not everyone here believes him but all they do is to read and pass so what is your pain? Are you an acting nairaland FBI?
Now listen, do you know that I'm the guy he's sending to PH for a job hunt? Do you know that I didn't know he's the one with the moniker, until I saw these lame arguments of yours this morning and I began to trace the cause of the argument,,it's then I realised that it's because of me. I'm on my way to PH now with his staff. I was so weak when I realised that the man that stepped out of his way and his woman to help me was the one I hated most on this thread.
I'm not here to tell you about him, or convince you to belief him, no. Believe whatever you chose to, it's personal. But don't come here calling people names, it's wrong.
Like I said, just read and pass, only a mad woman will comment on everything, trying to make people believe that her madness is real.
FYI, when quoting me, don't forget to quote that I was looking for a car recently.
Sir dru23 Thanks for your advice, I will. I love your posts, and your business model, when I grow up I will be like you.
Happy Sunday family! Aim to be better .... |

That is the main issue of us diaspora are facing.. You will hear few success stories of things working out between Nigerians at home and diaspora.... Most Nigerians think abroad is easy and you pick money from street.. Some even feel entitled or job to help them. I have given so many people chances and opportunities to help me so that I can help them too. But most will only want to help themselves only.. And I have come to finally conclusion that you can't help everyone .... And the best thing for me personally is to mind by own business and take care of me. I will continue to be fair in my business and those that help ,may God help me them .. Meself I need God's help. May God help us all ... |

E pele sir, that was some huge loss and great betrayal... People are just wicked. There's similar case in Ado Ekiti sef, the guy was sent cars to sell, only to sell and live extremely large without remitting a dime to the owners... He sell cars wey below market prices sef, just to fund his large living.
And that story made me understand you more. You have seen!
But that doesn't change the fact that, this Nigeria and not the USA or some advanced countries. You can't just use these countries as yardstick for dealing with Nigerians.
Stop all the motivational talk too, everyone on this thread have enough motivation. Many have work they do and they still drive. A large chunk of the people on this thread will most likely do better than you if given the same opportunity you got.
Why didn't you guys use the money you made overseas to invest overseas and let's see how it will go... You're only taking advantage of currency rate margin and the non stringent rules here in Nigeria.
Enough said, make I no offend people...

Look at Dangote for example, as rich as he is ,he still looking for money.. He still has goals and he sitill wants to buy a football team .. And he knows that he has to have a lot of cash to buy a football team. And he knows he will be competing with people that are equally or richer than him. Dovehorizon: Lolz, dont believe everything you read online.
Someone said he started this uber journey and was able to buy 8 cars in two years. This feat is almost very impossible to achieve except by Grace or fraudulent act.
Now let me break it down. If said person relied solely on driving on uber this is what u get : We gat no idea if the 8 cars were bought as toks or fairly use but let me place a value of 1m on each car...
8 cars in 2 years, which means he maybe bought 4cars in a year. 1m X 4cars : 4m
To achieve 4 million naira driving solely on uber / taxify (maybe) in a year This simply means : 4m ÷ 12months : 333,333 (meaning u should be making at least 333,333k monthly) 333,333 ÷ 4weeks : 83,333k weekly (this means u should be making 83k weekly)
To achieve 83k weekly, that means your gross should be about 150k weekly.
You are prone to certain issues that would pop its ugly head once in a while, these issues will take a chunk of the profit made. issues like this can never be avoided : mechanical and electrical issues (shock, brake pad, tyres blowout, steering pump, compressor, ball joint, fuel pump, alternator, bad kickstarter), servicing... You have lastma, vio to reckon with once in a while. Bad riders, Bolt app malfunctioning cant be left out. Then unforeseen issues like accident, robbery etc.... remember, you also have responsibilities as well, i dont know if you are married or single but one thing is certain, you are responsible for yourself (feed yourself poorly, dont have enough rest/sleep and the resultant effect is a health breakdown and this will affect your earnings)
On this story, there are so many loopholes which makes it very difficult to believe. Dont be like those motivational speakers : my first salary was 5k and in 6 months I bought a house in banana island without stating how the money was made. If you can't state how it was made, then dont bother saying it as you could be passing a message in a wrong way.
On another note, it's really sad to know that people are juxtaposing Nigeria with countries that are miles ahead of us in almost everything (aside corruption). Using U.S and England as a yardstick to support your argument is really not nice. They have good healthcare, good roads, good basic amenities etc but what do we have here other than bad roads, epileptic power supply just to mention but a few...
My point here is, if you are blessed, do not use that opportunity to look down on anyone or talk with reckless abandon... In the game of chess, the lowest ranked officer (pawn) can still become a Queen (the most powerful piece). Life na turn by turn. If you wanna encourage someone, then apply emotional intelligence to it... My brother you miss the point again.. .. Again the guy that had 8 cars in two years doing Uber, is not far fetch . It is not a big deal, I invested about 4 or 5 in my first year . And the cars were tokunbo, I started with Elantra at the time . I was able to get them cheap at the time ,and I funds readily available. Not everyone is going to tell or teach you their trade secrets. And when I first started investing I figure the best is to start with two cars at least and maybe 4 cars to Max .. Doing one or two cars will not bring enough income to enable you to expand fast |

donfortune48: 2months ago, I went for medical checkup and my BP was 148/110. I went back the next day, the tried severally but the minimum they got was 140/100.
Driving for over 12hrs per day, 6days a week, is not same as seating in an office. It's not same as seating in a shop selling Engine oil Uncle. My first business I did was to import parts from Japan. And I needed to raise about $30k dollars at the time . I was still in college part time .. I was doing security job at the time .. So in order to achieve my goals, I was working over 60hours a week ,I will wrk from 3pm to 7am the next day. I was stressed out, but I knew I wanted to achieve my goals . My Point is for me now to be sitting down and open shop to sell oil . I have put in my time and work , I busted my tail off ,sometimes I ask myself if all these hustling is worth it or not . I had no social life and didn't really enjoy my college years... I want through the same pain situation when I was doing truck business. I had two jobs so that I can raise money to buy Mack trucks, I was busting my tail off even more, you can ask Carshopper, I met him on nairaland through that period in my life , ... So now that am able to find a business that is not as much stressful, not easy but less stressful compare to other business that I have done in the past. Don't you think that I have paid my dues? Dont you think I deserve a little break. I didn't steal money from nobody, it was hard labour with blood, sweat and tears... The point am dragging across here is you have two choices in life .. Do want to be great and do great things? Or do you want to be average? It is easy to be average, but greatness comes with hard work and persistence. You have to put in long hours of work , you have to get out of your comfort zone... So if it is driving for long hours, or staying in the office for an extra hour a day. You just have to do what you have to do. But as you are putting in those hours, make sure you work smart and hard. In the end those longs hours will pay off.. |

sunnp: Ah that one is another angle bro, when you are already in money mean no much bad thinking like driving for hours on road, let all drivers go for thier blood pressure and post it here you go run, Nigeria hustling is extraordinary
You think those guys didn't have high blood pressure before they made it .. You think Mike Adenuga didnt get high blood pressure when is telecom lincense was denied and he lost millions of dollars .. You think he didn't have high blood pressure when he was setting up Globalcom. Do you think all of his success was smooth sailing? When he was driving cabs in Yankee and importing spare parts before he made it big ,you think he didn't have high blood pressure during those period ...
When you can't pay school fees, house rent, hospital bills taking care of more children you can handle, you think your Blood pressure will not rise?

calabardick: Excuse me sir. I think you should read my post with understanding before responding, which your response isn't necessary. - where did I mention that the guy is complaining? I did what I did out of pity, not because he complained, not because he begged me for anything. If I didn't have a conversation with him I wouldn't have known anything about him, just that its my style to know any driver that comes my way. I'm off the ehauling wheel, but whenever I see a Corolla involved in any issue I must stop by to know how I can help, have you done that before?
I hate it when we are talking about Nigeria someone will bring in another country as a yardstick. - if Nigerian was very okay then why were you in London? (If at all you were there) - can you compare Nigerian economy to London? - can you compare Nigerian's fare to London? - how many 20yrs old in Nigeria can affor a car of their own? - do you know how much uber charged from international airport to my house, with the one hour he slept in my place? And he never complained, rather he was excited.
Throughout my service years in the military and as an instrumentation and controls engineer in the oil and gas industry I've been to more than ten countries (outside Africa) but I've not used it to judge anyone.
- in Brazil, do you know that the number one Schneider Knx programmer as at 2016 when I met him he was 18? - do you know that one of the highest paid instrumentation engineer in Angola now working with one of the E & Ps is 20 this year? - one of the OEM (in Australia) that certified me in Process Controls their best technician is below 20. - not to mention the ones I met in military out there Should I mention more?
This is Nigeria, let's see how we can help each other, that's the way forward, instead of using it against them. The said guy will be going to PH on Sunday with my logistics officer, I was able to connect him with some friends, 3 companies awaits him there.
Thats the way forward. Wherever you find yourself be it London. Nigerian, or whatever the economic status ,make the best out of it ....nobody will give you hands out , the young man you just helped that is going to PH now , it is up to him to make the best out of it.. Him going to Ph for a job is half the battle, but I hope he does well and the same favor and kindness you showed him ,he will show it to others that are need of help down the line.... |
