Y1nka: Sir dru23, I always respect my elders, regardless of opinion, but here ehn.... I don’t know what to say sir.
I just stated a harmless fact about Bolt gross and eventualities (which is true by the way), and instead of you helping us with other means of achieving it , or telling where I get it wrong, you automatically concluded sir, that I am a “poor” oriented Uber driver. Wawu sir.
Well, I’m a realist, and not a motivational speaker sir, I will believe what is real , either it correlates with my ideology or not.
Also, I have another job, I am actually working with a tourism firm, and I must tell u, part time drivers are the best to see a balance or best reality about this job, a drowning man (full time driver) will clutch at a straw!
Lastly, my response to poor mind and rich mind, well sir, Through offline trips and dedication on ehail, I have some nice take home, but everything goes to me (cos I drive my car).
However, I’m putting myself in the shoe of a driver that makes a net of 40-50k a week , and has to deliver 30-35k.
My question is, is my observation stupid, or not realistic ? I don’t think so.
Good morning sir They are in the wrong line of work be dat.. My female driver makes more than what she delivers.. She pays zero towards maintenance.. She does not have two heads |

Y1nka: And base on the respect I have for u sir, please don’t shade me or give some motivational talk, just state obvious and help the platform....
Plus I hope you are still driving on the platform, cos I speak neither as a car owner nor driver , but rather as BOTH.
Thank you My brother you got me completely very wrong.. Or maybe I didnt express myself well enough.. Uber is not for everybody, and the stress that comes with it is a tough one. But still people are still doing ok ,the ones that are complaining that is it hard ,wilk still get up in the morning and hustle.. The ones at the fence are at the fence because they can't handle it . Am talking from experience and from what my drivers are doing.. What is the minimum wage in Nigeria now .. Uber drivers will make that in a week .. So there are ways to make money with uber. Nobody is going to hold your hands and show u the way.. We that are partners are the poor ones, some of us took out loans for these cars. Until we paid off the loans we still slaves to uber. It is not easy ,and just because it is not easy does not mean it is not possible.... If a female driver can deliver and.hustle her way .. I don't see any excuse for any man not to work ....nothing comes easy in life.. When I first started it was horrible nightmare for me. I had a wicked manager that made the job stressful for me. I had to sell all my cars and start all over again.. The mananger stole and wreck my cars with wrong oil .. If I didn't have the resources that I have now, I would have kill myself .. When I talk I talk from experience.. I will not encourage or discourage anyone to buy fleet of cars for uber.. It is a personal determination and will to do what I do .. But just because most can't do it does not mean it can't be done.. Sorry if I offended you in any way shape or form .... |

Chuwaa: I like your strong passion and zeal even with dwindling revenues. Making long term investments does not remove realities. Business is not about emotions, but about figures and projections. I wonder what your projections for this business is. We've seen weekly remittances going steadily lower. As of this time last year, some were still remitting 40k and Uber keep crashing their price.
Anyway i know Nokia, Kodak, yahoo and co all denied the facts till they were swallowed. I like your passion sha and may you succeed big. U stated that you drove for few months or so.. Since you are no longer driving. It will be hard for me to take your analysis objectively without fully analysing it fully .. Ur analysis is based on either what you are been told or hearing. My analysis is based on my weekly returns .. I can't recall the last time a driver was owing me.. But I do recall that have spend about 80k naira on my elantra. The driver kept going through bad roads and the excuse was because he did not want to reject any rider .. Since he pays nothing for repairs of the car, when I mean nothing I mean not a kobo ..I pay 100% of repairs on all my cars.. My mechanic ask my permission to speak to the driver.. My mechanic told him he can't be fixing the same issues all the time. And that he should stop driving to bad places. Even if it was a corolla the car will still have the same issues.. I spoke to the driver myself. After that no more issues again from the driver.. The driver knows that he can't get that type of my deal anywhere else.. And that 80k naira I spend on repairs, have made that money back ... You stated that business is based on projection and not emotions . Which is very correct, I also take advice from people with experience.. People that have years of experince managing fleets of cars on the platform .. Not just someone that drove for few months and drove for himself with just 1 car.. By no means am I shading you or discrediting your three months of experience.. But am looking at things from a business angle . Would I take advice from somewhere with two years or somewhere with 10 years experience .. Like you said business should be based on projection and figures and not on emotions. My reply to you is based on unbiased objective analysis and experince you have .. And than I compare them to my experince.... |

Chuwaa: To burst your bubble, I am not an uber driver. I drove my own car for just three months last year while waiting. It was more of past time. And it's such part time drivers that break even! Not to burst your bubble too.. Just like in school back in those days.. Some students were good at things that certain students were not good at .. Even though it was the same thing they were all studying.... |

I dont recall drivers delivering 40k at the year u mention it was 35k that I recall and now is 30k. . And u said uber keep crashing their prices and am curious to know which prices they are still crashing.. Plus uber has added incentives ,that has been going on for the six months plus.. And also we had a guy that does it part time and he makes good money doing.. The guy gave a step by step how does uber on his way to his office.. Also I have a driver that drives for me now .. He has driving for me for the past 4 months now .. The driver before him did well and complain the job slavery etc. The new driver has been doing a great job. He does A lot offline trips and he delivers on time.. He seems he knows how to space himself.. We normally do inspection every two weeks on the cars.. But since the drivers are good and they know what they are doing . We no longer do the inspection .... The only time we know the condition of the cars is when it's at the mechanic for one or two repairs.. Than my mechanic gives us a feed back on the car.. So people that are making it ,they are making it . |

Chuwaa: Why won't they invest in it, when Dru and Jesusson2020 are their financial advisers on UBER matter
I remember how they wanted to crucify you months back. I think it's only a few that still invest in this, most new vehicles are spare vehicles at home where they think they can make extra money with it but the reality is 3-4months profits gets wiped out at a major repair.
Very soon the reality will 'heat' everyone and only car owners will survive. Christmas period is here, time to make money, but many car owners are planning to get a bit of the juice this season. It might not be so rosy like other Decembers. In any business you have to say to yourself.. Am I for the long run or short run .. If you want to run a fleet of cars on uber .. This means you are going in for the long haul. It takes time and patience to learn a business.. Mistakes will be made and you will face challenges.. Companies like Apple ,Microsoft, Facebook, Global com, just to name a few.. Some of these companies have been around before me or you were born.. They didn't start making money right away. Many of them went through trial and error before finally making it big.. Each business has its ups and downs. Just because few owners are not making money ,does not means others are not.. Unfortunately Nigeria matter is we want to make money fast fast and easy ..that is why some are wasting their precious time focusing mainly on selling cars. Everybody is a car dealer in Nigeria now.. Nobody wants to do hard work or farm work.. |

Y1nka: The car owner ideology is :big fish swallow little ones. They try to enslave fellow mainland person into picking a used car and paying high weekly for rental. Imagine a man telling someone I referred to him to pay 32k weekly on the platform. And the worse part is that he also is a driver.
Now On the driver side, most of them are naive and ignorant, they hear the “make 60k weekly on Uber” and fall for it. So after getting into an agreement , they find out how bad they f***d up. And want to f**k up their bosses back... breach of agreement .
Gbas Gbo’s every where.
Like I always say.... the highest rental should be 25k weekly.
If someone still dey give u 100k a month on the platform with your car in good shape. It’s bether than 30-35k, with car written off, and fights after. My brother with this your write up.. The conclusion is that this business is not for you or everybody .. A guy just posted how his neighbor or pastor was able to drive on uber.. Saved enough money to travel abroad to do his masters. And he was able to also pay for his part of his accommodation and master program.. Now I dont think the guy has two heads... this is want separate the poor and the rich.. The poor sees an obstacle and says this is not possible.. The rich sees an obstacle and says I will make it work.. Keep in mind in I have a female uber driver ,she has been driving for me for six months plus.. With the money she made she used to help herself and family.. And now she has move on to other things for now pending to tend to personal matters.... .. Successful people are not ordinary people in a sense . This are people that are willing to test the limit and go places that ordinary people or either too scare to go or don't have the heart to go.. This is why rich people barely give handout to others. They struggle for their money when others were busy saying the impossible .. My advice bro is to find another job or avenue to make money.. This uber thing is not working out well for you.. Uber is not by force. |

Y1nka: Oga Dru23, you are an elder in this thread sir!
If dashboard shows 70k earnings on Bolt (which is really good right)?
Commission is : 14000
And as owner you collect :30k
As some car mpg calculations done here: at least 10k (on some of the most fuel efficient cars, or depending on the trip to arrive at such).
And we didn’t calculate that most of those rides would have gone through Lekki toll : let’s say just 10 times to Lekki : 10 to and fro equals (4,000)
In total :
30k 14k 10k 5k.
That’s 59k sir . If car is in good condition and no much unforeseen circumstances.
And 11k for driving Lagos bad roads and traffic for a week, dealing with different attitude and keeeping calm still behind that wheel. The physical and psychological requirements for this job is not that price sir, person wey sabi go sabi.
Even if he was eating sand and drinking the wind...does 11k seem fair sir?!! No disrespect sir o!
Just giving my opinion..
And I stand to be corrected, on other facts! No be fight o .. I was just asking |

Kingsdave: Can I use Mobil 1 5w30 USA high mileage on my car have been using Nigerian Mobil 1 the green cap... Will it affect the car.... my mileage is 180k I have a big phobia for products Destin for the Nigeria market .. I don't trust the Nigerian Mobil 1 with green cap.. Since you have been using for some time now .. My humble advice is for you to continue using it .. Others might advice you to have your engine check for any sign of engine issue, before switching .. But me I like my name and reputation.. I don't want a situation that you use my Mobil 1 oil and something happens to your engine ,that was caused previously by green cap Mobil... So I always encourage new tokunbo car owners to use my Mobil 1 .. The chances of tokunbo cars abused by wrong oil is very low compare to naija abused cars.. Conclusion: keep using the green cap oil for now , and in the near future if u happen to get a tokunbo car or a naija used car that you know the maintenance history.. You can than look for Genuine engine oil seller to start using on your car ... |

adsmaster: I want to share a story about a guy who does uber for a living like us. These guy came into Lagos last year, a pastor and was assigned as my zonal leade and I was to work directly under him.. He needed a place to stay a few weeks later reached out to me and I said sure you can move in with me.. He was struggling for a while, till he completed his DL registration and started these uber hustle. These was last year around August. These guy has a wife a d daughter who are in the UK, he was there too with them briefly before he was sent back home because of fake papers that one so call agent did for him, he didn't know. He was to stay away for 10yrs before he can re-aply. It's over six years now and the little daughter he left behind in the UK is now over 6years old, when he left they just gave birth to her.
With these hustle he diligently gave his all, I watch him pay half of his school fees for Rome business school(2500€) pay hostel accommodation 550€, pay 250k to a financial or loan shark to lodge 5M in his account for a month, bought plane ticket, all with these uber hustle. It took a year plus to achieve these with these same hustle that people look with disdain.
These job is like a cash cow, that can be fattened(by putting more time, energy, into it) and slaughtered or milked when the time is right.
Now we have folks like izzou and others who are gradually pushing there's. Let's not be discourage brov, no matter the challenge, keep your eyes on the goal....... Thank you for sharing this story.. This story just got to few hours ago.. I myself could not believe it .. It also drives home the point why I prefer to import my engine oil and goods from the USA... So I just called my Lagos contact to know how the business is doing so far .. So I was told that we just got another engine oil customer for Mobil 1 . He was reccomended through one of our car dealer in Lagos.. When the oil was deliver to the new customer. It took my team and car dealer 15 minutes to convince him that our is not fake and it is imported from the USA .. The new customer explain to us that his neigbour has drum and drums of fake Mobil 1 oil in his house. Which includes a machine that makes the same label. And he stated the oil are sold at the same price as the original in places around Lagos.. He said since than he was afraid to buy Mobil 1 oil ..... After he was convince that our Mobil was real , he stated if we can supply to other places for him in Lagos and also to his place of work.. He just wanted to make sure there will a continuity of the product ....
My point is people should ask questions and know the source of your product.. Avoid buying fake products at all times. .... Customers can rest assure that my products are genuinely from the USA and I import them directly not from a third party or middlemen type thing.. But I buy from directly from the USA ... And I take pride in what I do.... For all your Genuine Mobil 1 oil , am at your service And also 0w20 will be available by the end of Nov...

peeps4u: I know, just as bolt came around, there are investors lurking around to break in as soon as uber leaves. The fact is that uber will not leave because they are here to make money and not doing anyone favour. They will always protect drivers/Riders interest. Funny enough Nigeria is not even uber's biggest African market.. So losing Nigerian market is not a big deal to them in my opinion .. Egypt is the biggest market for them and Some other African countries .. Those market are more important to them than Nigeria.. The only thing here is that uber is trying to get a strong grip ahead of everybody else regardless if the market is big or not ..more like a monopoly control.. We can agree to disagree at the sametime |
