My chairman I have nothing against using other brands of synthetic oil but this is a very dangerous statement in fact in my opinion the oil you use is the most important..you can get China parts which can be replaced every week but if you use groundnut oil your engine cannot be replaced every week ...you can drive your car with the legs making all manner of noise ie not working optimally but if engine is not working fine iz an issue.,

I know someone that bought a toks 2004 4 runner for 3.6m sometime 2 or 3yrs ago, dey wanted to service the gear so the mechanic poured abro atf into the car instead of T4, the gear packed up and they had to overhaul the gear system..bear in mind this same abro will work perfectly in other older less complicated gear systems.

Personally I don't joke with my engine and gear oil plus original oil filter and I advise everyone not to either...yes Mobil synthetic is not the only oil in the market but for me that's the only oil I use for my cars.

Please use recommended oil by the manufacturers, no be we make the car, the people wey make am sabi wetin dem get for mind

I Don't know much about filter Sha, d mechanics do buy the filters himself, untill today I never knew filter has types ,. It seems I will be buying the filter myself 4rm now henceforth

Check engine has been there for over five years it comes and goes. I have travelled with the car with check engine from Abuja to pH over three times still nothing is happening to it. My their forget it just keep on wasting ur money on so called oil nd filter. I use mobile 5400 and oil filter 500 naira and my car is perfect for over five years so forget it. [b]I have been using my Camry for over five years now I change the 500 oil filter and Mobil 4500 oil and my engine is still sound and sharp can go anywhere in Nigeria today. mobile 1 is too costly Sha,. And allowing the oil stay for over 2 months will build up sluge in the engine,. That's why Its better to use cheaper oil and change it monthly to avoid building up sludges

I was using XHP when I was unaware about oil difference,. So this is my first use of full synthetic oil, in 3 weeks of using it, I noticed something like charcoal dust in it when I check oil guage,, car doesn't short oil and doesn't smoke,,. I hope it's not a sign of problem

enlighten me before I make mistake please I got a Nigeria used 03 corolla on H.P at 1.9m. Vehicle is okay except the fact that recently, it shortens engine oiland when the owner called in a mechanic, the mec adviced him to ring it. We asked if ringing it would solve the problem and for how long... He replied ''it depends on the mec doing the job and the type of rings used '' that he would use original Ring and it would last nothing less than a year.
Note: the owner bought it Nigeria used, I have driven it for 6 month and about 3 others have also driven it for e-hailling before me but I don't know how long.
Here are my worries :
*is taking an engine ringed car at 1.9m sensible?
*would it serve me ?
,*what are the disadvantages ringing a car engine
Also note that the mechanic bought the original ring of 35k.

Okay.... I guess you don't do much driving. Or probably you don't follow the <6k mile rule. Isn't 7months rather long for oil change?. You can help me with why you toll that school of thought.

Bottom line.... I just want to know if either the Mobil 1 or Total Q9000 are extended performance oils.

Lemme just throw this in.
Recently bought a 2007 Pontiac vibe. Toks. So i changed the oil for the first time yesterday,and after following the car dealer's advice,i poured in the Mobil 20w50 (facepalm). Shortly after the sound of the engine changed,im nt even kidding. Got worried and flipped through the manual of the car,and saw that the recommended is ONLY 5w30 (another facepalm).
Im really worried.
Now that the mobil is already in use..should i just continue using it until the engine gets used to it or i shld revert immediately?
The Quartz 9000 price is on the high side tbh.

My sister's Honda Accord 2003(Eod)has been shorting engine oil lil by lil and there is no leak that we could see on the floor, she doesn't drive it always and no smoke except if raced down. We believe the engine is still good cus it drives well, may be we are wrong but any idea pls..

Note that: she always used AZ oil for meinteinance but recently used Mobil oil and that's when she started noticing the shortage. I was the one who detected it. Pls any info on this?

I will simply forward this pic to the Uber manager and ask him... If its him, won't he try his luck... Am serious. See shape... See height... See Waist... See Colour.. Abeg... This girl set Jare. I will even insist she dressed seductively and Uber has a strong policy against seducing drivers.

Q1. Motor parts - Commonplace parts such as oil filters are a problem. For example, this land cruiser uses a spin-on oil filter. If we try to buy the filter from amazon/summit racing/rock auto etc. and we key in the model year, make of vehicle etc., we will be sold a cartridge filter. Same thing happened when I tried to buy an oil filter from your shop. (Unlike our vehicle, the 2008 Land Cruiser sold in the US is a 5.7L V8 and the oil filters are different). Other parts such as fuel pump assemblies are also a problem - we have two stand alone fuel filters that were bought in error for this land cruiser whereas the correct fuel filter is built into the fuel pump assembly. We are now wary of buying any more parts until we are sure of what we are doing - the VIN would sort this problem out immediately so why don't these merchants use that instead?

Q2. Transfer Case - thanks. Will check the fluid every now and then to be sure it isn't degraded.

Q3. Differential oil (front and rear) - Thanks - although synthetic lubricant is preferred (Red Line or Penrite) when we are ready to drain & refill.

Q4. ATF: From what you say, at just under 60,000km, we are over due for a drain and refill. From personal experience with my own vehicle (Corolla), a drain and refill is definitely better than doing nothing but the old ATF fluid left in the system quickly dilutes the new refill and the benefits of fresh ATF are lost almost immediately. Under what circumstances would you perform a flush? A flush would definitely get rid of nearly all the old ATF but it has its (many) critics. Check out the link below and tell me what you think - I personally prefer the method used by these guys. Do you think this method can also be used to drain and refill for other Toyotas (Corollas, Camrys, etc.)?
