worldbest:You see this year eh? In fact starting from your post. I will start disregarding a lot of posts on this board. I am going to pass on this one and kindly do not mistake my going past this for cowardice cuz I will attack if you ride on this. Yes, violate my personal space and I will attack. Anything other than that and not a word from me. I am sorry I even started this convo about your ideology, please disregard it and move on. Cheers |

lanbaba:Yes The Webhost Manager resides on the dedicated server(s) of the host. Resellers use the same Webhost manager on that server. People do domain transfer for different reasons. Just like people change network carriers for different reasons. See this https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-373227.0.html |
Sprum, hope sey u never put me for voicemail. ![]() |
worldbest:I am not your oga. Its just a wrong idea to think dreamweaver is for beginners alone and for those who only know the basics. |
Talking about domain transfer. Domain registration is done by authorized registrars. So domain transfer means transfer the domain from one registrar to another. You know some place in ph so this should help. Say you have obio-akpor LGA and Emouha LGA. A particular place is within the jurisdiction of Obio Akpor. Now for some weird reasons, the state governement decides to shift that jurisdiction of that place to Emouha LGA. The state governement is in full control. Now ICANN is like that state government and they control naming on the internet. They have authorized registrars under them. |
Yes! Note though, you wont need to send the jQuery script to google as the owners of the script have already put the scripts there. |
It works.

The billing system also handles offline payment methods like bank transfer and it's a time saver. saves you all the stress of managing client transactions too. imagine have a client base of 3000 accounts and you dont have a system to let u know when a client's subscription is expiring. In webhosting 2 things are involved. Domain Registration and Hosting. Say you want to build a house. You will need a blueprint for the house, right? the architect does that for you. now you will need where to build that house. You go on and hire a piece of land from a landlord. Ok, now u've gotten the land, but how do people know where this land is? you then get an address (which will consist of the number and street name). Now you have a land you can build on and people know where your house will be and can easily drive down there. The house is your website The architect is you The land and the whole process of getting the land is webhosting The whole process of getting an address for that land is domain registration. The landlord is your host provider. Now, how everyone knows that the address of the land is tied to that land is through nameservers. So you need to get a domain, then get a host. Associating that domain with that host is what is meant by pointing the domain to a nameserver. Could go on but my brain and fingers are aching. I'm doing like 500 words per second ![]() Hope this helps though. |

for the stuff about highlighting when selected, try this li.selected a{ background: #999; color: #fff; padding-left: 2em; padding: 0.7em; } you can choose what the highlighting color should be by playing around with the "background" attribute. on your html, for each page at something like <li class="selected"> to the <li> tag you want selected. |

Won't say a word as you don't deserve one. (Wise people only). Well well well. The conference. Updates so far. . . Quad asked me to do a signup module a few days back which I only got around doing yesterday cuz of other things i'm working on. Well erm. . . over the weekend, quad's migrating the site to a CMS. Joomla! |
Its just the script that stays on google's server. Your pages stay on your own server. lanbaba:No it wont take less time. It will take equal time to pull down content from both servers if they are of same spec and speed (and other factors like distance). |
the concept is called, "Distributed networks"
what da. . . ![]() Hmmm the bandwidth saving idea, makes sense. |

lanbaba:The jQuery script can handle that and a lot of other complex effects. The jQuery script is like any other Javascript script in the sense that it has to run from somewhere. Normally we put our scripts on our site's servers. What google has done in this case is that the script has been put on their server what is left is for us to call the script from our own pages. This doesn't mean google does the whole coding of that effect for you. As for your other questions raised. About the page loading faster, it depends on which is better . . .your server or google's (i don't intend to get into that kinda server competition )About updating their codes. Yea, the latest updates will always be on google's server. So if there's any update, you wont need to go running through all ur sites to reflect the change. Hope these help. |
Ok, so we talking about something less than 100 MB here or thereabout? |
Uncle sam, when you and your boys are ready to talk the jazz behind this unlocking thing, let me know ![]() |
