PhonesRe: The Fastest Internet In The World by DualCore1: 11:51pm On Oct 17, 2009
This is from surveycash
It is called VPS (Virtual Private Server) not VPN. I already said in my earlier post that it was basically meant for running forex EAs but I found out that it is exactly like a desktop but in a remote location. I loaded mozilla and it accepted. I tried google.com and it opened. I was just exploring the remote desktop. I went to oldapps.com to try download the latest yahoo messenger of 16.01MB. Immediately I clicked the download button, I saw open file. I was shocked. I thought it was error download.

when I opened the folder, alas!, the set up was there. When I double clicked it, the installation was done in less than 4 seconds. You all know how long it will take me to download a-16mb file with a an ISP of 115.2kbps.

Talking about throwing a money. You are right. You can throw away your money if you don't know the reason why you are investing it in a particular project.

To me, I don't think am throwing a way $70usd to make $374usd in 2 weeks.

On believing 115.2kbps increased to 1.6gbps without any physical change, do the maths yourself.
size = 16.01mb
download time = 0.01secs
download speed = ? you can fill in the gap

Hope I answered your questions?
First, not like surveycash is trynna scam anyone. he's just telling it like as he understands it.

It is not your computer, it is remote. You are going to be connecting to it through your starcomms connection. To see how awful everything is, try playing a video on that remote connection and see if you don't swear for your starcomms connection. You wont get smooth back cuz your starcomms will spend aeons of years streaming feeds between the remote computer and your local machine.

here is the breakdown
You connect to the remote computer using your starcomms connection and its normal crappy speed (not some 1gbps thingy)
The remote computer connects to the internet VIA its high speed.
Anything you download is stored on the remote computer, not you local machine and you cannot do a copy paste of a 16mb from your remote computer to your local machine and expect to be like zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz "copy complete in 4 seconds". Judging by my past experience wit the starcomms 1x connection, it'll take about the whole afternoon to get 16mb.
PhonesRe: The Fastest Internet In The World by DualCore1: 11:21pm On Oct 17, 2009
surveycash, all you are doing is connecting to a remote computer. you are getting a faster connection on the remote computer because you are doing server to server connections. You cannot download sturvs to your remote computer and drag and drop it on ur local computer's desktop and expect it to happen in a flash like it was really a part of your PC.

when 2 servers are talking to each other its a totally different thing from when a server is talking to a local machine.

you can only use that speed to get things to and from the remote server. that speed cannot be used in anyway by your local machine.

I think i know what i'm talking about here, you got a VPS, I got dedicated servers fully managed by me and i allocate them (via HyperVM) into smaller units (VPS) for people who want to start up their own mini-hosting company.

Technology MarketRe: What Is The Best Way To Protect Your Car From Being Stolen? by DualCore1: 11:03pm On Oct 16, 2009
Comprehensive insurance. full stop.

go and do all kinds of tracking or demobilization, u just put ur life at risk.

See this scenario:

Armed robbers take you car at gun point, they put u in the boot and drive off, on the way the demobilizer does its work, the car stops. u think they will spare your life?

well whats this topic doing here anyway? tongue

How driver friendly is Windows 7? anyone? and does it readily accepts other softwares?
its friendliness is impressive. just got a new printer thats working perfectly and i still got the Driver CD case seal unbroken tongue

dunno what the problem is with y'all, Win 7 will run "well" on a 800MHz Gigapro (VIA Samuel) (R.I.P). damn that mobo was one of a friggen kind, lol thts why it didnt last in the market.

Bottom line: use what works best for you. Some hate change, so they'll rather stick with the devil they know than try the saint they dont. Others are adventurous and would rather dine with the devil face to face  than use long chop sticks.

Me i'm just an OS LovePeddler, i use everything depending on my unstable mood swings.
right now i'm downloading a clean ISO of windows 98 SE. (ya, its what u're thinking, i wonno fire these cores on win98se, weep not)
i kno i will start hating on the OS soon enough, got tired of ubuntu jaunty (9.04) in 2 nights, damn after about 1gig of bandwidth used for updates.
ComputersRe: Windows 7 Is Slower Than Vista by DualCore1: 8:48pm On Oct 15, 2009
its no use tearing muscles.

if XP makes your box go turbo, go with it; if vista does, ride on; windows 7, carry go, win version 3.1, zoom off but remember speed kills.

but dont be so silly to run into conclusions from the perspective of your use of the OS on a crappy box.
ComputersRe: Installimg A New Operating System by DualCore1: 5:08pm On Oct 13, 2009
Get a removable hard drive, copy the contents of her Desktop, her My Documents folder, and any other places she would have things (i dont understand the complexity of the female gender too well, they might have other places they keep things on their computers).

Get a driver backup utility (please google it) and backup all her drivers.

I dunno how safe it is to say you're good to go with installing the new OS but i think you're good to go now.

slip the XP CD in and install (if this sounds like your worst line of greek, just google "how to install windows xp from cd"wink

when you're done, restore the drivers using the same backup utility u used to back them up.
copy her backed up files into the right places
put back her wallpaper tongue
ask her out for dinner (ask her on my behalf, i will be the one taking her out. you're married, dont forget that.)

P.S: in place of a removeable hard drive, you could use a different partition on the system (one that you are sure not to format during installation)
ComputersRe: how to change vista to xp by DualCore1: 4:57pm On Oct 13, 2009
slip in your windows XP CD and boot from CD

what you want to do is highly not recommended by me (you don't have to care though, i'm just me), you format that thingie and put xp on it, you lose any chance of using your recovery partition, ever. Microsoft's WAIK wont even save you.

P.S: get a version of XP that's slipstreamed with SATA drivers. There are so many ISOs on the net just do your home work with google.

PhonesRe: Are These Numbers Really Diallable Or What Do They Mean? by DualCore1: 5:37pm On Oct 07, 2009
Use this table

abc = 2
def = 3
ghi = 4
jkl = 5
mno = 6
pqrs = 7
tuv = 8
wxyz = 9

Usage:
080dualcore
from the above table, substitute the alphabets with corresponding number

for 080dualcore

d falls under 3
u falls under 8
a falls under 2
l falls under 5
c falls under 2
o falls under 6
r falls under 7
e falls under 3

therefore, 080dualcore (by substitution) = 08038252673
