debosky: ![]() were all our opponents going down to 9 men when he scored 30 goals for us? I think he at his peak now, shrewd move by Dirty Harry. |
manmustwac:We are just warming your seat for you. Normal services will soon resume, it always does ![]() |
debosky:True talk, early days to be drawing any firm conclusions on this league, still 33 games to go. I think people applauded Liverpool too soon. On another note, maybe we should start prioritising as well (not likely we will win this UCL and the little extra money for the 2nd round just isnt worth it IMO) Tottenham are playing only their kids in the Europa league (didnt even register VdV for it) and no one is complaining but I expect all hell to break loose if Arsenal dare embark on such. I don't think Tottenham would have played this well today if all these guys played APOEL on Thursday. |
Just to give credit where it is due as well, that Hoillet boy gave Bac a torrid time yesterday, not sure if Bac was still feeling the exertions of the midweek game but I know Bac won't have many games like that this season. Gervinho should get out of the honeymoon period ASAP, faffing about with the ball when you can give a strike partner for a tap-in is simply not on. We need a killer instinct, hell we just got loaded by an hated opposition just 2 weeks ago, if you grab hold of the jugular bleed it dry meen and leave the fancy things for Ligue 1. @JJCD and others Lets stop hammering Theo for now abeg, we mostly agree we can do better but lets not forget this is still a player on the up and a fighter as well and his stats keep improving year on year and like Debo and A-40 point out, he has one of the best stats attacking wise for us this season. Lets just focus all that venom on JD primarily because he deserves it, a simple clearance out for a throwing to the opposition rather than trying to be too smart could have saved us this heartache. I'll suggest relieving him of his ArsenalInsider journalistic duties maybe its a distraction. ![]() |
@Debo While I would agree with you that new players in the team was not the only contributory factor to our loss, you cannot rule out its impact completely. In certain instances yesterday I saw clear communication issues between certain players, Santos/Song, Gervinho/RVP and the entire defence to name a few, the two buys who initially seem to have gelled almost immediately are the two who have always been in the league. Santos IMO despite being a quite capable and composed player with what I've seen of him will struggle awhile with the pace of the English game as he just looks a bit heavy on the ground and seems to be carrying some extra weight not required for an Arsenal full back. I still like Per's composure and timing but I think he'll need to become a bit more physical in this league, like JJCD said yesterday Kos and Song were largely unlucky infact prior to that own goal, Song was playing a blinder. The less said of JD, the better. This is one of those defeats, I'd gladly take on the chin for a team yet to gel albeit coming at a time when the team should be building momentum and there was no better foundation to build on than a superb defensive performance at Dortmund. The team will get there, I have no doubts about that, I am sure of the quality we got in the transfer window and class stays permanent through any teething problems that might come. I still don't agree with the choice of RVP as captain though, he now has that Cesc look of carrying the whole weight of the world on his shoulders and his performance seems to be suffering IMO as well, but then maybe that is one of the changes we need to adjust to. ![]() |
If only Sheyi played like this all through his time at Arsenal. ![]() He will soon become a fan favorite at Shyte Hart Lane at the rate he is going. what a goal by Luka, he has started to fly again . And Charlie Adam is off. |
OLASODE2K:Astute post, cldn't have put it better, fighting fire with fire has never worked for anyone. Even the US and USSR were negotiating treaties while unilaterally pursuing their MAD policies, it is a shame our people are being willfully ignorant. Kudos to Obasanjo for embarking on that trip, my respect for him just went up a notch. |
I cannot support Uncle Wole on this with all the respect I have for him. The truth is that Obasanjo's visit should have been before any bomb attacks started but then better late than never. Any measure taken for the sake of peace should be encouraged no matter who the messenger is and to what self serving purposes they chose such a course of action. This smirks of personal beef and suggests to me that Uncle Wole is getting as cranky as OBJ in his old age as well. |
doncaster:When did you turn a stalker? my life doesn't revolve only around football. Sorry for you mate. ![]() |
Anyone casting aspersions at Obasanjo for visiting the family of a man killed extra-judiciously is being less than charitable, Obasanjo is not my favorite person but the pursue of peace in any legitimate way should be applauded. In the pursuit of peace, no option should be ruled out. In case most people do not know, even the Americans fighting the Taliban are also negotiating with them at the same time. In every large scale dispute there are always the major extremist elements who stir up things but more importantly there is the larger moderate element who provide a support network for them either through coercion or sympathy with their supposed cause. The best way to undermine terrorism is to undermine that support network by showing the moderate elements that peace is achievable and should always be a preferred option. Lets leave Obasanjo's visit out of this and not even blame the government (if indeed they sent him to the family as a peace overture). Let us put this firmly at the feet of those who seem to want to maim and kill at any cost and hope that this action will further undermine them in the eyes of the moderate elements and ultimately lead to them being put in check as soon as possible, afterall this is their own kith and kin they've just murdered. |
Yes o, I need recharge card for my gas, winter will soon be here. Any luvely princess here to give me a helping hand? ![]() |
Sad, whole issue gets murkier, but this can become a positive thing depending on who carried out the killing. It can cause division between the extremists if another faction did this and that can only be a good thing. |
@Sisi_kill Good suggestions up there and very realistic cos it shows that it takes 2 to tango as well as 2 to make peace. I don't only abhor violence but feel bad even when I engage in a bit of verbal abuse with the person who should be closest to my heart, domestice violence of any kind physical, verbal is not right though I dare say that some are used to it and may even want it. My experience though has been that women generally don't play fair in following those rules of yours, particularly in terms of keeping the quarrel/fight relevant, by nature most women are emotion driven and not logical so the very idea of relevance in a fight does not come into play at all (not implying for once it is all women which is why when you find that special person who makes your life a heaven, you hold on tight and don't mess it up with a wandering eye). In such instances after following those rules of yours and getting no where, I just switch off, anyone who willfully chooses to make my life a living hell when I'm trying so hard to exercise restraint doesn't deserve to be in it. At least for that moment in time. |
Great idea yawa-ti-de, |
I feel for the guy, the bonus culture in banks needs urgent reforms but they've refused to address it. This chap has not stolen anyone's money but that is what most people are errorneously interpreting this to be. The first Rogue Trader Nick Leeson served only about a 4 years jail sentence and it was not for stealing money but for accounting malpractices in bringing down Baring's bank. Great article up there by Richtalk. |
In the interim, time for the permutation and combinations, here are our next 5 games and it's not getting any easier, about time the team started approaching every game as a cup game to get us out of this mire. H Bolton Wanderers A Tottenham Hotspur H Sunderland H Stoke City A Chelsea |
Its very easy to start throwing toys out of the pram after a loss like this and start digging up Myles Palmer articles. Almost every one knew it would take time for this team to gel. I'm willing to give them that time. Maybe the shoots we saw last week were premature and thats why I called for cautious optimism. The quality is there, the understanding and composure will come and some hard lessons will be learnt in the interim. I hope we don't hit the bottom of the table before things settle though. |
Oh well, some cobwebs still to be cleared. At least an attempt was made at a come back. I expected a slow start this season but its starting to get too slow. |
dayokanu:They didn't conceed 4 goals against stronger opposition than they've faced today but thats too much for a donkey to notice I guess. ![]() |
I hope that is not just a consolation, try and at least take a draw lads. plzzzz |
Why can't this team just be CONSISTENT? you can't play like that at Dortmund and then let yourself down like this at Blackburn? |
This is risky, no DM? |
What is wrong with this Djorou boy, take the man and the ball FFS |
Yakubu was off but no matter, undone by 2 set-pieces. |
is Bac injured or what? |
Oh Dear, we could have done more to win the first ball. |
Dudu, u dey laff becos we dey lead ni o. That was first grade selfish shitt from Gerv
True Dipo, I still put it down to a new team gaining understanding sha, They'll sort that out in the dressing room or training ground. ![]() even Gerv knew he did wrong. but the boy is still a baller. |
Make Gerv and RVP no fight jare. but Gerv should have squared that ball, you gotta make your advantage pay when yu're on top. |
why is Arshavin not a bit taller? ![]() |
What passing, what movement, Arteta opens his account. 2 - 1 to the Arsenal. |
ochukoccna:Kos and Santos should have stepped up to keep in line with Per who thought he was keeping Yakubu off and our MF shouldnt be allowing that kinda passing in front of our box sef. |
Communication problems at the back, faulty offside trap but Yak is still smart sha even if the legs are not longer what they were but we shouldn't be encouraging Blackburn. |
