Hello house. Some of us are planning to use our parents as visa sponsors. This means we will make use of their bank statements for POF purposes. What negative impacts does this hold for us abeg biko?

You can use your parent bank statement, you just need to provide proof of relationship and I think a sponsorship letter that says they consent to you using them their funds.

Check the gov.uk website sha

Pls can i be refused visa based on the fact that I would be using my dad's bank statement for application as he's my sponsor, someone told me he was refused based on this reason a while back, that got me confused as hell as the account has been counting for a few days now, please a candid and helpful advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Your parent can sponsor you, the person is not probably telling the full story

Please house what does this email mean exactly. Is it a bad thing? Please I'm really confused and need clarification. All the gurus in the house

Email is self explanatory, decision has been made, it will take some time to produce vignette sticker if visa is granted and affix to your passport.

Wait for a collection mail from TLS, unless it's a refusal, you'll most likely not receive a decision email.

Thank you for your response. What if you get jobs from recruitment agencies and you are posted to NHS. I feel it should count.

Lol, I don't know about this one sha.

I'm speaking based on what I have seen here, if it's different where you intend to stay then fine.

Just be careful

Please I will advise you to include your employment letter and payslip.. I got an email from Sheffield yesterday requesting for my employment history and reference from my employer. He shocked me.

This is most likely for admission purpose.

UKVI doesn't need to those for Tier 4 visa application, it's point based

Do you or do you not have the money?
Is your evidence of finance genuine?

Those are what the ECO will look at according to the guidelines that can be found online.

I won't be able to travel to Nigeria.
I plan to apply from here and she apply from Nigeria.
Her code will be written in my application form to the embassy and would share both documents for CAS.

hope it will work out?

Personally, I think she should apply first then after getting to the uk, you can then apply from where you are.

Thanks so much for this information the link is all I need. You are so appreciated.

Can you please clarify is it for just NHS work or any care job?

Like I said, as a student you'll most likely get care jobs from recruitment agencies that have agreements with clients to provide temporary care or support workers.

I don't think that link covers such term of employment, anyways you can do more research as this is just my personal opinion.

Which university did u enrol? Mine is also a 6hrs daily lectures at RGU (conditional offer)... I'm wondering how one can study and work too at d same time since lectures are six hours per day. How do you handle both long lecture hours and work at d same time? how do you manage your time in this way ?
My personal experience:

Initially classes were coming in thick and fast so I worked weekend only but when assessments started coming in, it was impossible to work and then submit assesments on time but luckily for me we started having free days during the week so I used those days to work.

The key is to have an organised calender and planner.

I don't know about RGU but my school email comes with full Microsoft package so that helps.

Hi guys, Today makes it exactly my 2 months in the UK. Here are MY honest opinions. Please note te I'm not anyway discouraging anyone from coming o, In fact, come and see yourself.

I think the UK is a little overrated, yes, there is stable light and whatnot, yes, this is an advanced country, the system works, but honestly, I don't know how to explain this in detail, Let just say I am not that impressed

Most of us are coming via school so here

School:

School is no joke here, especially if you are coming for masters, The Assignment doesn't stop. It will most likely take soo much work to be able to work part-time and come out with a very good grade.

Finance :
You can not, at least most likely pay your school fee or balance while working part-time. I see a lot of people rushing schools with 2k, 1k deposits, and hoping they will pay the almost 95% or so left while working. It's practically impossible. I'm still a JJC but I have been able to work three types of jobs s, Btw, these are the common part jobs(warehouse, cleaning, social care, "hospitality" ). Amazon is currently paying the highest of 11/hr(if you working the night shift ).

So a quick breakdown.

The cheapest school fee is between 9 - 11k (Hull teeside, the Cheapest school I have seen ).let say you pay a max 4k deposit and your school fee is 9,000. You have a balance of 5k to pay right?

You work Amazon 20hrs weekly earning 10.50/hr that is 207/Weekly and 828/Monthly

Expenses: Rent(Depending on location), Transporation, Feeding

Say you can save half of this after monthly expenses, It would take you at least 11 months to save up your school fee balance of 5000 pounds. Side note, Most schools have a payment schedule, some 50% before enrollment, 25 % after 2 months, and 25% middle of your program. For a one-year course. I haven't seen a school that will spread it over 11 months. (might be wrong though )

This simple calculation is for the cheapest of schools and some form of extreme savings. Even though you can work unmetered during holidays, will your school give you that grace?

Schools will report you to the home office(You don't want to have any issues with the homeoffice) if you can't meet up with the school fee schedule, I have 2 guys in my school currently facing this issue. Some schools are nice though, (maybe I will compile a list of such schools later)

My advice: 1. Before you pay that school deposit, Ask questions about their payment plans and schedule.
2. Pay at least 70% of your school fee before leaving Nigeria, the stress that comes with worrying about money here is crazy
3. Get married - yeah if you can ( Your spouse can work unlimited hours while you school, )

Life: People are generally very nice here, don't mistake their nicest and warmth for another thing o. I have a story to share about this later

Clothing: Please get pairs of very comfortable shoes, like the emphasis on very! you will be walking a lot ( Buses wouldn't take you to your doorsteps and Taxis are expensive), well some people are very loaded. For the average person like me so ditch your brogues and heels for trainers. most people here wear trainers anyways. Get warm clothing. it really gets cold and they say it's not even winter yet.

Work: This place will humble you, coming from a corporate background to washing dishes and standing for 10hrs in an amazon warehouse. This has been a very humbling experience for me. Side note: Most temps jobs require you to stand all for hours, see why you need those comfortable shoes.

It's also tempting to work more than 20hrs weekly, but please DON'T!

Again, Please get your finances right, and have a reasonable plan in place. You are practically on your own here, no one cares.

Final note: I don't understand why Nigerians here are cold and unwelcoming(it's only on nairaland I see people going far and beyond). Make friends with the Indians(they are so helpful to one another it makes me jealous) and local if you can

Again, these are my opinions and personal experience, it necessarily might not be others. Good luck

I truly agree, it's a humbling experience, you have drop all your pride and ego.

Also with the friendliness, don't fall for their smile, 8/10 times it's deceptive.

Tier 4 student in the UK. You're no longer restricted under 20hrs work limit anymore, provided you pick up care job.

Our commitment is far beyond securing a Visa but to make you comfortable once you're in the UK by getting and linking you up with a reliable CARE job once you get to the UK.

So the news is as long as you are doing the CARE job, you can now work indefinitely.

Please find the attached for more information.

I don't think this applies to those working with recruitment agencies which is where most students work.

Anyways I stand corrected.

Good day everyone. At what stage does one upload their bank statements? Just to know if I'm on the right track and I'll be prompted to upload my bank statements after the page below.

Document upload is at the TLS stage, which if I remember correctly comes after you've made all the necessary payment.

Please I have questions, how do I secure accommodation?

Are you already in the UK? It might be a bit tricky getting one when you are not on ground as these landlords are not always sane especially periods like this where there will be high demand.

Depending on what you are looking for, I'd advise to budget 400-450 per month, you might find lower but that's just a safe point.

I personally found my accomodation on gumtree.com, other sites you can use to search which I have personal positive experience from spareroom and facebook marketplace.

You should be looking for graduate programs starting September 2022 now. Usually advertised up to a year in advance.

Thank you, I'll start looking at this

I should add that the job opening is not related to what I'm studying rather the skills and short employment (about 6 months) I had in Nigeria before leaving.

Good day everyone, I want to ask from the experienced guys

How soon can I start applying for full-time jobs and is it possible to switch to a tier 2 visa before studies ends? (I would like to finish my studies though)

I'm asking because I updated my linked in location recently and I got a message from recruiter who I share a mutual connection with asking if I won't be interested in applying for a job in Edinburgh where I stay, the pay is around 28k - 32k per annum (I'm not sure if it offers sponsorship, I didn't ask such questions since I already made up my mind not to apply for it).

Also, my condolences to justwise on the demise of his mother, may her soul rest in peace

Pls who has used Asky Airline? It's private airline in Togo.

Togo is under UK amber list.

1) Can I use Asky Airline?

My alternative is KLM but the price is about N150 different. I want to avoid Qarter since price is similar to KLM.

2) Do I need transit Visa for KLM, do I intend to Kay over with the airport.

Your advice will be appreciated.

1) Have you tried booking a flight and seeing the flight details? last time I checked, Asky airline will not fly you to the Uk, it partners with Ethiopian airline which will likely take you to Addis Ababa from Lome, sha hold your 1700 pounds for managed quarantine service

2) It's been stated severally, any EU airline will require you to have a transit visa to fly to the UK

Lol, "dem use book do Nigerians''

If you no wan read book, why didn't you try another route, these are the kind of things that would make it difficult for people applying in the future to get a visa. In fact, this is what has made the german study visa the mess that it is today.

In as much as the goal is to japa, let's not forget that a student visa is just the beginning, it is not over until you are permanent, getting a good degree and keeping a clean record will contribute greatly to that.

Review update - I sent Day 2 sample on Monday and got my result on Wednesday

I'll further review when I do my day 8

Review update - I'm sorry this is coming late

Sent my sample on Sunday, got my result on Thursday morning, the delay was due to Monday being a Bank Holiday.

Wish everyone the best of luck.

For those of us coming to Edinburgh:

1) If you don't have a lot of load and you have someone you can Isolate with in London, a good way to reduce flight fare is to fly to London and then take a train to Edinburgh after Isolation (Train is £60-£100, depending on time and how early you book, I'll suggest booking Immediately you get to your location in London).

2) I beg you don't pack a lot of your Nigerian clothes except the fairly thick ones, they'll be useless here, Edinburgh is a very cold city. Save that space for something else.

3) To find accommodation, use gumtree or Facebook market place, search using the school postcode.

VISA ALERT! Long post o

Good morning everyone, been quite busy to pen this down.

Biometrics- july 8(standard) for me and 2 dependants
1st not straightforward mail- july 20th for myself
1st not straightforward mail- july 26th- dependants
2nd not straightforward for 3 of us- August 3rd
3rd not straightforward for myself- August 4th

Then i got a call from the Home office without notification asking if i can go on with an interview, i said yes but call dropped. I was sent a mail 35mins later scheduling me for 9th of August, 2pm. 9th came they didn’t call. Around 3:52, i saw uk missed call on my ALTERNATIVE LINE wch I tried to call back but kept bouncing back.

I sent series of paid mails and called the call centre but all responses were, you will be contacted.

Then i got another call on Friday asking if i am ok to go on with the interview, another yes and this lasted for 1hr 34mins because i gave them full/plenty points on questions asked.

By 18th of August i called and told its still awaiting a decision. I told the lady that its past 15 working days i did biometrics and i want it escalated, i told the person the type of visa i did.

20th, I received a mail from pretoria saying i was under mandatory checks and its still processing.

24th of August my dependants collection mail came wch I collected the following day.
25th, past 5pm mine entered wch I collected on friday.

I declared 4 uk visits refusal, 1 uk visits for myself
3 uk visits refusal for my dependants also.

It took them 32working days before returning my passport with visa. I was really worried, i fasted alot, praised alot(all with a sincere heart o) still prayed to God to give me a strong heart if it will be a refusal but I GIVE HIM ALL THE GLORY COS IT ENDED IN PRAISE.

I left Naija through Qatar Airways on Sunday 29th,(ticket was booked on Thursday after I collected my dependants visa) and on getting to uk border, the C.O asked, who are these beside you, i told him my daughters(1 was almost my height), asked name of my sch, course, duration, and if i have visited before and if i had any immigration problem in the past, I answered all. i was told to step asidewith my dependants for more investigation to be made. I was scared but I kept my calmness, gave my daughter my phone to send msg to her father(he stays in the UK), my sister and my pastor should incase anything comes up. I didn’t press my phone at all. And within 30mins i was released to go.

ONLY GOD’S MERCY!!!

Our visa processes differs, if there is any mistake you might have made and no how to correct it, speak to God, where one can’t reach, HIS MERCY AND FAVOUR will get there.

God will see everyone through. Aamen.

Congrats, see you in Edinburgh
