frosbel: 20k or 2 lives, which one is more important ?

Nigerians stop putting us to shame.
are you sure they had it on them? some hospitals outsource services like lab services, bloodbank etc and it's cash and carry... how are they going to come to a conclusion about the diagnosis? with their teeth and hair?
now, the real question is.... what the hell is going on with our NHIS? why is it not working? if u know what drugs the HMOs list for treatment of NHIS pts u will cry... they're not even fit for dogs.
an ambulance with paramedics could have made a difference...why dont we have that in nigeria?
ask the real questions and stop being emotional... some one else will die tomorrow and we'll be here ranting. we need to convert our energies and divert them into an internet awareness group to sensitize nigerians on the need to focus on healthcare. any country that does not budget for it's people's health and education is doomed.
as an analogy....there are so many dying hungry people on the streets, maybe the eateries, farms, ice cream sellers, hawkers should save a life. most nigerians that come to hospitals are suffering from malnutrition anyway.
let's try and prevent the next person from dying...how do we do that? that's wat we should be discussing
HealthRe: Pregnant Woman Dies In Port-harcourt Hospital Because Of Deposit by dumodust(m): 11:59pm On Dec 01, 2012
i'm tired of these kind of threads where hypocrite nigerians go all saintly, blaming hardworking famished struggling doctors trying to make ends meet...most of the doctors can not even afford healthcare in this country and i hear the same people that are well to do saying that 20k is common. hmmmm...
anyway, nigerians will always get the leadership, the inhumane conditions and the type of healthcare we deserve as long as we keep on looking away from the main issues and holding our looting politicians accountable. what insurance policy is in place? is it working? are their ambulances?...etc
i feel for the people at the receiving end... it is not easy to be in such a situation but that means that we should all start preparing for such a day because it will happen... and through out this thread no one asked about the government policy on this and what they put in place to avoid such occurrences.
maybe they're just busy catching a plane to germany to treat malaria.
WE... not those doctors....WE killed that woman because we watch daily as our government rapes us.
in the next election, before you make a tribal decision for the broom waving cohorts and the umbrella carrying rapists, ask real questions about policies and the things that need to change.
... then maybe, we have saved someones life in the future.

na wa o! just read it all to the end, see what staying away can do to people...lol.
very nice story with lots of surprises, but as usual with any good draft in order to make it a complete work, u'll still need to edit a lot of places, some innappropriate responses or deviations from the main stream of the story. when i sit down to read again, i'll give you feedback.

once upon a time electricity, radio and even fire were seen as jazz... The average african will see a mountain before him, instead of to look for answers, he'll succumb, kneel down, worship it and turn it to a god. The mind is a powerful weapon, for all y'all believing in rubbish, it play out like that in your mind. Ever heard of nightmares? Wet dreams have even turned to witch attacks...lol

Thank you, Dumodust. I'm just a developing story-teller who is hoping on being published; and of course, vying for perfection.
Thanks again, buddy.
no problem, as long as you keep on writing and editing, we'll be friends grin. publishing is another tough frontier, a different world altogether, e no easy but it will be done...goodluck bro, no matter what you hear in the future, just keep at it.

good one... But there's a problem with the first scene, it was too short and some more description is needed.. We have no idea of how stacy looked, what was here reaction? He met her in mietie's wedding, how did it happen? Was it at first sight?
Good idea for a start...

good story... Very very good author. Your descriptions and imagery are in order, you style almost perfect but sometimes the story drags or veers off too much from the present problem and stem the big words a little...even if na shakespeare...lol.very many delightful surprises...will certainly keep a steady eye on this thread. Well done larry...i'm giving this 4.8/5, maybe more after editing but this is almost a done deal for an initial draft!

the only way for people to learn to fear the law is punishment... Nigerians have a sad culture of 'settlement'-let it be, what has happened has happened. Everybody forgets the families concerned in the end, they nid closure. Those animals are not fit to live in civilization.mark my words, like a tiger that has tasted human blood, once u kill,u'll kill again...let punish them in a civilized way, public trials and shameful life imprisonment dont exist for nothing. The hu,an mind only learns thru the system of reward and punishment

when odia ofeimun publically stated that ojukwu lied about an agreement with awo, that he didn't witness such, he was saying what was in his mind, nobody said amything. Suddenly, a renowned novelist speaks about what he saw and heard in those yrs, and there's trouble from all sides... And i'm yet to see concrete evidence to refute his claims,he only doesn't want to let some restless dogs lie. Anyway, awo is awo and he will speak for himself, just as azikiwe and ojukwu are on their own. We must always revisit the unsettled past to understand where we are now, or else all these guys ranting about mko abiola shou also cool it and forget about it totally.

the exact truth is that nothing is cast in stone, if you're looking for an exact duplicate, someone who will fall in line with all you want. then you're either a deluded dictator or an idealist with no focus bound to be left behind... know the person's true self, compromise(that's what love is about), lean back when necessary and decide what you can live with, and REMEMBER- communicate

ypzilanti: Nigeria is the only country in the world where the citizens have no idea what the presidential house looks like. You have just displayed your lack of exposure with this post. The president of the United States is probably the must sought after by terrorists in this world. The white house sits like a normal house on the street in washington. Tourists stand by the fence and snap pictures with policemen by the gates. It is a democracy and they try to preserve that feel of accessibility. They even have booked tours to visit the White house. I am about to start a thread on this topic because people need to understand that Aso Rock belongs to Nigerians and is a National symbol.
I shake my head in sadness when I see nigerians rationalizing that GEJ is the landlord and we are the tenants.I guess years of autocratic rule engraved that notion into our heads. Thanks ypz for reminding them.
Gem is accountable to all nigerians, the country actually belongs to us, not the present so he should have consulted the senate of the university, students etc who somehow should have a say because they are citizens of this country.
This is not a private university.
LiteratureRe: Writing Requires Creativity, Patience, & Courage. It's Not Easy. by dumodust(m): 12:46am On May 30, 2012
First it's the idea, then you discover that it's possible after you test your hand, then the pespiration starts. Over years, possibly you'll hone your skills and develop your writing 'voice'. Ideas keep on coming, you write but you have a job that's distracting you. In between, you'll have to contend with writer's block. Was involved in several sites, some blogs, interacted, gained some experience, read many novels, compared, researched, very tiring but funnily, it was gratifying
I wrote over many years, honed my skills with poetry and finally I finished my first novel last year which was relieving but it lead to an almost unending series of editing. currently, I'm trying to get published but it'snot been easy huh
Still writing though...I noticed I'm way better than when I started. On my second novel, a bigger idea grin

HealthRe: Sacked Lagos State Doctors Head To Court by dumodust(m): 9:43pm On May 16, 2012
allycat: Armadeo leave them, as I have said there are many chemist, pharmacist, laboratories, nurses, churches, prayer houses and tradomedical/herbal medical practitioners in Lagos. There are even private hospitals run by 'oyibos' and since medicine is humanitarian I am sure they will treat them for free. You have alternatives so use them and leave the useless doctors to their fate.
Allycat you're so right, never thought of it this way. Since everyone's doing humanitarian work and it is free....let them choose and let people be. It's a free world, I think we should make no more statements on this, let them say and do as they wish...Lagos state, e ko ni death o!
HealthRe: Lagos Issues Quit Notice To Sacked Doctors. by dumodust(m): 7:01pm On May 11, 2012
fm7070: Lagos state government and ACN doesn't do things in line with democrase they preach most cases. If GEJ happens to be in their shoes, by now there would have been all kinds of rubbish from them to him. But see what they're doing now
Their internal politics is too poor. So, what do we expect
How can you evict someone who pays for the quarters within 24hrs? What kind of barbaric, inconsiderate government is that
You need to see how this anti-people government demolished thousands of houses at ISHEFUN AYOBO 3years ago without proper negotiation and consideration. A lot of people died, some went down and never recovered up till now.
They generate over 18Bn internally generated revenue monthly, spend less than 6Bn on infratructrusture with their quack contractors and we're happy that Fashola is working.
What a heartless, shameless, useless government is this sef?
Thank you, at least someone asking the right questions not brainwashed party jingoists
HealthRe: Lagos Issues Quit Notice To Sacked Doctors. by dumodust(m): 4:47pm On May 11, 2012
Nupeng goes on strike, holds the nation to ransom, people lose their lives, no one complains... Even nlc went on strike, it turned to occupy Nigeria. Suddenly doctors are asking for their due and Lagos state health system's about to go down...people are rejoicing. Lesson-don't swaet for nigerians

They're still in a chatty mood because of low patient turnout, I'm going to spread the word...wait till the full force of Lagos residents hits the inexperienced. Two doctors for randle hospital? Let's watch and see whether they will even be able to go home and change...system overload. Stupid policy by stupid politicians gambling with people's lives...e ko ni death o!

Just make sure u pray and remain healthy and well

And for all those who think shutting down a complex health system is good, Luth idi-Araba, igbobi and other federal installations are soon going to shut down. The wailing on the streets are about to get louder, be ready to shut your ears to them...ACN! E ko ni death o! No be their children go suffer
HealthRe: Lagos Sacks Striking Doctors by dumodust(m): 7:42am On May 08, 2012
I'm saddened by how nigerians think,we're so oppressed and manipulated that can't see anymore. Being a medical doctor is a job not a humanitarian service. Nigerians and there politicians are the ones toying with there lives. Even in normal conditions, half the people on these pages cannot afford healthcare in these hospitals.
These guys want their due, they want to be able to pay rent, school fees and still focus on their work. If u feel they don't deserve that and that ucan read medicine, pls then go and read then come and toil for free for long hrs all week. Please, since we're all capable of charity, humanitarian work is not restricted to healthcare, everyone should be involved, therefore- all these ranters, foodstuff sellers, mtn, glo, lawyers, taxi drivers, barrow pushers and hawkers should give there services free and we can all switch from capitalism to communism.
Working is not by force, if u don't need them, some other state or country will poach them or they will enter the same expensive private practice that u detest.

Take care all...I'm looking forward to more expensive healthcare by imported Indians and Arabs...then nigerians who are subdued by white skin will rejoice and pay them 1million. You will reap only what you sow which is not the paltry con mess that they are asking for
HealthRe: Lagos Sacks Striking Doctors by dumodust(m): 11:11pm On May 07, 2012
All I see is that lots and lots of people are going to die and they're not going to be these doctors or their relations. Believe me, these politicians have just put the people of their state on a slab while to scurry off abroad for check up and to treat common malaria. How much are we really talking about, multiply it by 1000 and tell me if one can politician has not embezzled more than that. At least some people are bravely standing up to them.
And for those people saying that someone's job is humanitarian work, they should try offering their own goods and services free.
Anyway, the price of healthcare in the so called private hospital's is about to hit the roof and sincerely, if u can't afford it since government hospitals are the largest and cheapest, redirect your anger appropriately.
For all you men with families, kids and pregnant wives, start praying. It's the common people not these so called decision makers that are going to die. Period
