Sincerely this is not harmattan but dustittan. I clearly recall coming back home after my second delivery to set up the baby crib myself cos dh couldn't get the configuration so don't be surprised if the same happens to you

Very much normal. Your cervix is preparing itself. I am sure if you go for a VE now your doctor will tell you that you are getting effaced /thinning. You're almost there.

@sixx cappo, we're waddling to the promised land gradually. Forgetfulness is now my middle name. I have to double check most things now. Tummy has taken a funny shape . Long and bent downwards. Finally packed my hospital bags and kept in the car today and labour is gradually becoming a reality. I can bearly do a few things now before becoming tired. But I still want a January baby. ....no porting for me

Gudday mamas, plz those living in Benin, those anyone know any good supermarket that one can shop for original baby clothes...its only online shop o knw o eg konga,Jumia...at least like one mama said, so I can feel d material and make sure its original...Also people kip saying dre baby reacted to a particular diaper, so we DAT havnt given birth which one should we now buy, and how is it bought, eg mini,midi etc.

For the diapers start with a few packs of mini or size 2. Babies tends to quickly outgrow it. You will be buying lots of midi or size 3 cos they spend a longer period in the size bracket (you could use midi from 4mths-10/11 months sef)depending on the weight of the child. Size 4, 5 are for older babies or orobo pikin
Most diapers have weight range written on them so be on the lookout for the ones that would size your lo

I use shea moisture baby eczema soap from 6mth upwards
I start with cusson baby soap, the blue one or Burt’s bee baby soap at birth.
Johnsons is a bit harsh on my babies
When I don't get the shea moisture I use tetmosol baby soap....has a nice smell and is quite mild and good for heat rash
Cream is coconut oil and Ori

I actually laughed out loud at the great-grandma comment. That was the same thing my MIL said "You people should better do visa for my mom so that she can help relieve some of the stress on you". I just nodded and said "How old is your mom? 70? 80? No ma, No Bueno. I will manage ". I should leave my 7 week old alonewith a great-grandma who doesn't speak any English. God forbid something happens, how she wan take communicate or call for help? Can't work.

My dear please don't laugh o. My 1st delivery my Mil actually brought her 88yr old mum with her for omugwo things. She said it was her mum that took care of all her kids so she will equally take care of the great grandkids too. That period in my life was a serious power tussle cos great grandma had respiratory issues and cough. I complained to dh but he didnt send them back to their Base until my baby began to cough at 3weeks.

@Blessedmum it's like we have the same MIL. Exact same thing mine did to me. Bathe baby and pour oil all over baby to the extent that I have to wipe off the excess. All the washing and cleaning up I do myself (thank God for washing machine) even the cooking too. She's got hbp so I have to make her meals special while she's laying down watching TV. This time I have already given my mum and dh ultimatum cos I can't come and kill myself to please anyone.

I remember one time like that when I was in 2nd trimester, my mum said that she's not supposed to leave her house to come and do omugo, that my dh is supposed to bring me to her house instead and I was like in this day and age? Hian! I sha told her that won't happen o! I kukuma told her to sha get ready to come and live with us for the period of the omugo after lo is born. Me I kent shout biko!

But my dh's mum lives in Jos, while my mum lives in Abj. I and dh also live in Abj

So pls how does this omugo thing really work?

This your question causes major kwanta between my mum and I. She claims that it's the mil job while I believe it's the mum so just imagine the fights we have whenever I put to bed cos she only stays till after naming and leaves me with mil who basically is battling with health issues of her own. I end up doing my things myself.
Though some people will say that it's whomever the woman is more comfortable with. Since your mom stays in abj it would be easier for her to come to you than your mil and if you are on very good terms sha mil can come later for extended visit
Also different cultures have different rules for omugwo so you might need to ask your husband people too

I can't even bend again. Waist is killing me. To bathe myself is war talk less of the kids. Getting out of bed in the morning is sooooo painful, dh is now my official early morning carrier. Lifts my legs off the bed and pulls my body up. I can not wait for January. ....like December should just fly away quickly

Sorry for the swollen feet. Increase your water intake. If you have been drinking 2 litres a day try to double it. If you spend most time of the day sitting down, get up at intervals and walk around. Even the increase in water drinkage will make you visit the toilet regularly. Also keep your feet elevated when you sit and when in bed too

Massaging it with a warm towel helps and drink lots of water. Then try to be extra relaxed when feeding your lo. It's a function of the mind that allows for letdown when breastfeeding

Present ma. I have been struck with tiredness and loss of appetite. Just taking my meds religiously to maintain nutrition. During the day I sleep at any point while I struggle with sleep at night. Lo has now turned my tummy to a stretching post....different contours. In all we thank God that the days are getting shorter . Soon I will be carrying my bundle of joy in my arms
