PoliticsRe: Inec Has Only But One Option In Kogi Election by dustmalik(m): 11:12pm On Nov 22, 2015
denko:
THE ELECTORAL ACT IMPLIES THAT YOU MUST GO TO ELECTION WITH A CANDIDATE AND A RUNNING MATE, GOING A HEAD IT WILL MAKE THE ELECTION NULL AND VOID FOR THE PARTY THEN THE PARTY THAT CAME SECOND WILL BE DECLARE WINNER
In the same vain. the Supreme court which overrules any other matter, has said the mandate belongs to party, not candidate.

Which mandate in an election declared inconclusive?
The election will be concluded. Status quo will be maintained. use your brain.
PoliticsRe: Audu's Death- Three Options For Inec by dustmalik(m): 10:59pm On Nov 22, 2015
denko:
YOU CANNOT CONTINUE ELECTION WITH A DEAD CANDIDATE, THE DEPUTY CANNOT STAND FOR ELECTION BECAUSE HE NEVER CONTEST PRIMARIES
Your argument is flawed. They share a joint-ticket, so, technically, they are one and the same. Why then is a vice-president or deputy governor allowed to assume an office, should the President or Governor dies?
PoliticsRe: Inec Has Only But One Option In Kogi Election by dustmalik(m): 10:52pm On Nov 22, 2015
Phame:
no winner right now.
That is besides the point. Audu and Falake share a joint-ticket, so, technically, Audu is still alive as long as Falake is alive. Status quo will be maintained by Inec. The inconclusive election shall be concluded.
PoliticsRe: Inec Has Only But One Option In Kogi Election by dustmalik(m): 10:19pm On Nov 22, 2015
Mandate belongs to the party, not a candidate. The supreme court has ruled on this matter. Therefore, the deputy automatically has the mandate.
PoliticsRe: Audu's Death- Three Options For Inec by dustmalik(m): 10:14pm On Nov 22, 2015
(1) Declare Abubakar Audu as the winner of the elections and the Deputy Governor is subsequently sworn in.
The first option available to INEC is to conclude the elections at a later date with Abubakar Audu as the Candidate of the APC and if as I expect, he wins the
election, INEC will then declare him the winner and his Deputy Governor will be
subsequently sworn in as Governor to comply with the Constitution.
This view is supported by the judicial attitude that leans towards party consideration rather than the individual candidate. The courts have ruled several times that it is the party that is voted for,
and not the candidate

The above option seem more realistic, given the emboldened.
PoliticsRe: Kogi State APC Running Mate Cannot Replace Him by dustmalik(m): 10:05pm On Nov 22, 2015
Since the constitution didn't envisage this situation, then i think whatever decision is taken by INEC, can be challenged at the courts. This case could go up to the supreme court.

People's opinion i have been reading online are just what they wish to happen. no one can confidently say anything authoritatively.

not only 1 local govt o. About 19. More noticeable in Dekina local govt where about 17,000 registered voters couldn't vote
Hear hear. But, you and i know that Wada can't possibly win this anymore. This is just a delayed victory, in my opinion. Though, yes, the electoral laws need to be satisfied.

The elections have been declared inconclusive. Tomorrow the elections will be cancelled outrightly tomorrow.
One can always dream, even when it's unrealistic. Only one LGA was affected, so inec will simply run a by-election in that LGA, and Audu will still win.
PoliticsRe: Breaking News- Inec Declares Kogi Election Inconclusive by dustmalik(m): 5:20pm On Nov 22, 2015
TimeManager:
A Delayed Victory For Audu. However, This Confirms APC Is Not About A Do Or Die Affair Unlike The PDP.INEC Is Really Independent To Have Announced This Without Pressure From The Powers That Be. Those Areas Are APC's Stronghold, they Have It Locked Down. The Bye election Would Be A Walk Over For APC
No Lie Only Truth!
I understand the cancelled votes are from Dekina LGA, and Wada is from that LGA. So it can't be said to be a stronghold of APC. But, considering that there are 49,000 possible votes, and taken also into consideration that 100% turnout isn't possible, I don't see how Wada can stage a comeback. By the way, PDP can't possibly get all the votes.
PoliticsRe: Inec Declares Kogi State Election Inconclusive by dustmalik(m):
Acidosis:
I watched LIVE report on AIT. Election Inconclusive

49,000 Electorates Disenfranchised, especially in Dekina LGA (largest in Kogi state, and in fact in Nigeria). Worthy of note is that Wada is from Dekina.

Presently, Audu is ahead with about 41,000 votes.
There is no way that APC will not garner up to at least 10,000 votes from there. Given that it's only one LGA, it will be easier to checkmate rigging.

Is It true the election is inconclusive
Yes, 49,000 voided votes, which is more than the difference between the two candidates
