Made claims twice- first with Leadway and the second with IEI both took roughly 2 months to pay. The second payment way close to 2 million because the car was written off. In the first case they also fixed the other car. Both were comprehensive. |

gunpoint: Lol @ weather. . . I can do gray I guess. Having worked in a bank now in nigeria for 6years(supply chain/treasury functions) I think its time for a fresh challenge. However I will be 31 when my msc starts. Now in Nigeria, age is a huge issue getting any kind of work, I would like your take on this age matter, is it the same in the uk?(Note that I have experience oh). I see you point about working to get integrated, as for work ethics, working in a nigerian bank is as grueling as it gets oh. It is an offence in the UK to deny someone a job because of his/her age except if the person is a minor. Depending on the position, you may feel alittle uncomfortable working with 22 year old kids or having a 28 year old as your boss |

Programming › Programmer 'outsources' His Own Job To China To Laze Around At Work by dustydee(op): 11:19pm On Jan 17, 2013 |
Funny smart guy A computer programmer 'outsourced' his own job to China, according to security company Verizon.
The mid-40s software developer, named only as 'Bob' in the report by Verizon's Risk Team, paid programmers in China one-fifth of his salary, and spent his work days browsing the internet.
Analysis of his machine found invoices from a company in Shenyang, who had been paid to do his job for him.
The programmer spent his days browsing videos on YouTube, using social news site Reddit and using eBay and Facebook. He no longer works for the company.
"Bob spent less that one fifth of his six-figure salary for a Chinese firm to do his job for him," says Valentine.
"Authentication was no problem, he physically FedExed his RSA token to China so that the third-party contractor could log-in under his credentials during the workday. It would appear that he was working an average 9 to 5 work day," said Valentine.
"Evidence even suggested he had the same scam going across multiple companies in the area. All told, it looked like he earned several hundred thousand dollars a year, and only had to pay the Chinese consulting firm about fifty grand annually."
The programmer had sent an RSA token - a chip which allowed employees to log in securely to his work network - to a software consultancy in Shenyang, China.
He was only caught after security staff at his American employer called in Verizon fearing they had been targeted by hackers.
"This organization had started to allow their developers to work from home on certain days," said Andrew Valentine of Verizon.
"Central to the investigation was the employee himself, the person whose credentials had been used to initiate and maintain a VPN connection from China.
The employee was described as "inoffensive and quiet" and "someone you wouldn’t look at twice in an elevator." http://uk.news.yahoo.com/programmer--outsources--his-own-job-to-china-to-laze-around-at-work-164819302.html |
Travel › Canada:new Federal Skilled Worker Program by dustydee(op): 11:10pm On Jan 17, 2013 |
Earlier in 2012, Canada announced a temporary pause on its Federal Skilled Worker Program to allow it time to overhaul the immigration system - making it faster, more flexible and more responsive to the needs of Canada's labour market.
Following a flurry of recent changes, Citizenship & Immigration Canada has now launched its new Federal Skilled Worker Program. The new program will be effective May 4, 2013 - and will begin accepting applications on this date.
The final changes to the Federal Skilled Worker Program selection criteria include:
1. Minimum official language thresholds *(new step to this new selection system) This includes increased points for official language proficiency (English or French) and makes language the most important factor in the selection process.
The minimum language threshold is level 7 of the Canadian Language Benchmark assessment system. Click here to view what is acceptable proof of language ability.
2. Increased emphasis on younger immigrants
More points will be awarded for age - a maximum of 12 points (currently the maximum is 10 points) will be awarded to applicants aged 18 to 35.
Canada is putting emphasis on younger immigrants due to the likelihood of them acquiring valuable Canadian work experience, being better positioned to adapt to changing labour market conditions and spending a greater number of years contributing to Canada's economy.
3. Introduction of the Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) *(new step to this new selection system)
Potential immigrants' education credentials will now be assessed prior to their arrival in Canada to ensure that the foreign credentials reflect their true value in Canada.
The idea is that newcomers will see how their education compares to the educational standards in Canada and to give them the opportunity to upgrade their education prior to coming to Canada, if they choose.
A list of designated assessment organisations will be made available early in the New Year.
4. Changes to the arranged employment process
This means that Canadian employers can hire applicants quicker, if there is a demonstrated need in the Canadian labour market.
5. Additional adaptability points will be awarded for spousal language ability and Canadian work experience http://www.workingin-canada.com/visa/immigration-categories/new-federal-skilled-worker-program-effective-may-4-2013?utm_source=Working+In&utm_campaign=61a7656fa5-wica-newletter-jan13&utm_medium=email#.UPh2XR002Qk |
