simtosul: Nigerian Army has released 182 Boko Haram suspects from Maimalari Barracks in Maiduguri, Borno state. Army Spokesman, Colonel SK Usman, revealed that the “joint intelligence community investigated and authorized” the release of these prisoners. He added that the release was part of Nigeria’s National Army Day, which was held on July 6th to commemorate the first shots of Nigeria’s Civil War at Garaken, Cross Rivers State. The prisoners were reportedly released to the governor of Borno state, Kashim Shettima. According to Sahara reporters, 40 boys, 24 women, 100 adult men and 18 children were among those released today. In addition to the prisoner release, Colonel Usman said that the Army was celebrating the opening of a new military center, providing two days of free medical treatment for Borno State residents, and awarding Purple Heart and Operation Zaman Lafiya medals to soldiers fighting Boko Haram. All these events were tied to Nigeria’s National Army Day. Meanwhile, the military had confirmed that more people detained for alleged links with the Boko Haram sect will be released after being cleared by its joint intelligence cell. Sometimes last month, the Nigerian army handed over four foreigners and 124 Nigerians detained in connection with the Boko Haram terrorist group to Kashim Shettima, the governor of Borno state. slimbless: Nigeria singer Jodie who sang her hit song kuchi kuchi, and her believe that premarital sex is wrong did her traditional wedding yesterday at warri,Delta state, barely a month after getting engaged to her manager and Nigerian actor David Nnaji.
The wedding was a private event, but the pix managed to get leaked and there she is with a protruding stomach. I guess the "word easier said than done" played out here, or probably she was over fed #winks# Anyway, Happy married life And what makes you think they were not married before she got pregnant, if indeed she is? |

Reference: I am not criticizing his use of a jet. I am criticizing his use of a 'patrol jet'. For while he is on tour the purpose for the bird is defeated and it annoying. As vexing as seeing patrol vans after the crooks are long gone. We are simply not a brilliant people and its not about this Comptro, the NCS or this government. It is a Nigerian malaise. If Obama was a Nigerian he would be flying the space shuttle round the world afterall he's the boss of bosses. Abeg leave us. We are like that. People are often bigger than the institutions they claim to serve. You have a point, however, the patrol jets are not intended to use round the clock. |

TonyeBarcanista: We have a new administration. Last time I check, the approach of this administration is different from last. No economic management team btw... Even CBN is struggling with its monetary policy. Are you suggesting that the current government is not austere but spending big? |

tinktanker: don't mind clueless ppl Dat give dis a thumbs up. How can a private jet b used to monitor borders. gullible n blind nigerians dat don't reason. 1. It is not a private jet, it belongs to the FG (NCS) 2. It is equipped for surveillance (except if GEJ lied to us) 3. You need an aircraft for border patrol and not helicopter. |

IzonOwei: Does the comptroller need a private jet ....what ever happened to saving cost... No he doesn't need a private jet that's why he chose to travel with the NCS jet unlike Dieziani who spent billions on charter flights. |

TonyeBarcanista: This is not worth celebrating nor seeking to score cheap political points. I've been worried with the dwindling state of the economy since May 29. My prayer is that we don't delve into recession.
The government need to adopt austerity asap... What do you suggest the government should do? |

Dotng: Meanwhile, Financial analysts have pointedly said that Nigeria government is at risk of scaring off investors it can’t afford to lose if the N1.4 trillion fine slammed on MTN holds through.
With an economy struggling to cope with sliding oil prices, the experts said currency restrictions and no finance minister, authorities are doing themselves no favors by penalizing one of their biggest foreign investors.
According to fund managers including David McIlroy of Alquity Investment Management Limited, the fine equates to more than 20 percent of Johannesburg-based MTN’s market value.
“It’s the last thing Nigeria needs, given the economic and political struggles it’s contending with at the moment,” McIlroy, chief investment officer at Alquity, which oversees $100 million of frontier market stocks, including MTN shares, said by phone from London.
http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/10/n1-4trn-penalty-too-heavy-to-bear-mtn/ While I consider the fine heavy, I believe MTN were aware of the consequences before the deadline. As the saying goes: "if you can't do the time, don't commit the crime". I disagree that it will scare investors but rather that organisations will think before taking us for granted. What is the essence of have laws and rules when you don't intend to enforce them? It is sentiments like the one above that encourage corporate organisations in Nigeria to behave as they wish. |

Be careful who and what you listen to. I graduated when there was chronic unemployment in Nigeria. Before I graduated from school, I had an idea of where (industry) I wanted to work. I had people around me who graduated some years before me and were doing well for themselves irrespective of their grades (2.1 and 2.2). The guys were ambitious and that encouraged me as well. Some of them were changing jobs when the general consensus was that there were no jobs. During my service year, I took interest in preparing my CV, NYSC organised some seminars on career development. Before I finished NYSC I started applying to companies related to my career choice. The banking industry was one of the most glamorous industries then and they were recruiting massively but I never applied to any bank during my service year. I was eventually "forced" by my folks at home to apply to first bank (applied on the closing date - out of respect for my dad cos he kept asking if I had applied). I got the job but I refused to take the offer around June (finished serving in February). Few months (August) later I got a job in the field I wanted. I left after 6 months for another job. The company I moved to is a government agency which a lot of nairalanders pray to get into and I have read here that you must know someone before you get employed there - I didn't use any connection and I have since left the company. During my time searching for job, I met people who told me their story of how long it took them to get a job and they wear it like a toga. I also had a cousin who repeatedly told me he's not worried about me because he knows I will get a good Job - and I did. My brother had a job even before he graduated (not only because of his field but also because of his outlook to life) - he graduated with 2.2.Sorry for the long story but don't let negative talks influence you. |

Mogidi: Dr Jonathan abandoned it for its obvious cost, Bubu on the other hand is about to do a u-turn. No wonder the prudent Jonathan made our economy the largest in Africa.
Our currency/economy is in free fall, I know who I'd hire if Jonathan and Buhari came for interview. But Buhari has not asked that the project be restarted. According to the story, Dino moved a motion. A motion is not a bill (law). A motion can lead to a resolution which is advisory if passed. |

Are you expecting them to bring a car into the airport terminal? Na wah for you o. What you should be asking is why they did not use a "presidential" wing, the answer to which we would have to find out if they have one at the airport. |
