You can vote and elect Obaseki online like you did for Atiku, Saraki, Melaye etc but Obaseki knows the fire burning him. Unless he is forgiven by the owners of APC, he is gone.

Those hoping and wishing that what happened in Zamfara and Rivers state will play out in Edo are in for a big disappointment because no judge will invalidate a direct primary election. The primaries held for Rivers and Zamfara States were indirect primaries organized by different factions.

In the buildup to the 2011 elections, a wealthy northern businessman donated 36 buses to CPC presidential campaign and demanded concessions from Buhari, I think to put his men in some ministries. Buhari blatantly refused and asked him to take his buses away. Also, one of the reasons the merger talks between ACN and CPC failed in 2011 is that Tinubu's camp wanted Bakare dropped and replaced with their candidate. Buhari refused and lost that election.

In 2014, Buhari, Tony Momoh and Buba Galadima realized that for Buhari to ever have a shot at the Presidency, some concessions were inevitable and an alignment with Tinubu was indispensible. Buhari compromised and the ACN, CPC, part of ANPP and I think APGA fused to form the APC. Now understanding the importance of alliances, the new APC went to court disgruntled members of the PDP like Amaechi, Saraki and Kwankwaso. This horse-trading and alignment added 3 million votes to CPC's already assured 12 million votes.

Buhari understands that to win elections, you need alliances and must be prepared to make concessions. He had to lose three times to understand this. Tinubu understands that politics is local. Now Obaseki thinks insults and threats would win him a second term. It has never happened.

As for you claiming I can make compromises online, well understand that if I am ever a politician, I'd make reasonable compromises and concessions to get what I want, but NEVER on matters of principles. El Rufai knelt down, Gbajabiamila knelt down, Buhari wept on national TV, Atiku wept, Theodore Orji took an oath in Okija shrine (I can't do this one), some are bathed in....

To him, it is either you with me or you are an opposition and being an opposition, you should be thrown out of the bus. This attitude has made him throw away the baby and the bath water. Now he is trying to force those he alienated for years to now come and support his second term bid by force. This is no matter of Tinubu or Oshiomole. It is a matter of him fighting the political class. Even if one is a technocrat(as he says he is), the moment you join politics you become a politician. A good politician should have persuasive skills. But our Governor says no, he is not a politician but a technocrat. Well he is just technocrat, no wonder he has taking such novice decisions all these while. If the state conducts its own primaries beside what the NWC approves, the party chairman can decide not to accept it.

Governor Obaseki, I know you are reading or Crusoe Osagie is. Oshiomole is a problem because you created it. Oshiomole lacks the clout of a political heavyweight like Tony Anenih. Go and placate the 14 house of assembly members, Tony Kabaka and state party leaders like Pius Odubu, Chris Ogiemwonyi, Solomon Edebiri and Ize-Iyamu, and make the necessary compromises. You are busy fighting your imaginary enemy (Oshiomole) while ignoring the real power brokers in Edo State who determine the tide of elections. Oshiomole cannot unilaterally order the other politicians to drop their ambitions and support you because they are not there to serve Oshiomole's interest but theirs. Go and engage in horse-trading, get their buy-in and reduce Oshiomole's influence in Edo politics. The way to do it is not by going to Tinubu or Buhari or issuing infantile threats like telling the national chairman to recuse himself from the party primaries being an interested party or saying that you are not in support of direct primaries. Every member of the party is an interested party. A good war general does not talk about his moves, he makes them like Oshiomole is currently doing.

You may need to hire consultants and lobbyists to advise you properly and stop listening to people like Charles Idahosa and Anslem Ojezua. Left to me, I'd tell you to throw in the towel because if they mess you up, you can as well forget about taking any board or political appointment in Nigeria or abroad because a political neophyte is seen as a liability everywhere.

Support Obaseki openly and strategize with his opponent in secret. Obaseki is too naive and more members of his cabinet shall resign in the buildup to June 22. As Ayodele Ozugbakun of TVC put it yesterday, he begs and then brags. A good war general does not issue threats, he springs surprises, which is what Oshiomole has learnt.

Isn't it curious Philip Shaibu, Obaseki's deputy, has been silent while Obaseki and his foot-soldiers are making noise like loose canons? I won't be surprised Philip is negotiating a safe landing.

PS: Though Oshiomole is very controlling, aggressive and garrulous, he is not Obaseki's problem. Obaseki made Oshiomole his problem. Obaseki's fundamental problems are the 14 elected lawmakers he refused to inaugurate and the state party leaders he refused to acknowledge, probably because he reasoned running a state is a sole proprietorship, it is actually a political partnership. This was also Ambode's fundamental mistake. Tinubu could have forgiven him and allowed him to run, but the footsoldiers who determine the tide of elections would have worked against him thereby sacrificing his position as their leader. So I would re-echo to Obaseki the same advise I gave Oshiomole when he was being irritatingly garrulous last year: talk less and strategize more. Oshiomole does not the clout of an Anenih in Edo State politics and if you can convince state party leaders to support you, you don't need Oshiomole's endorsement. Therefore, go and make a pact with state party leaders and state legislators to negotiate a second term. You need Ize-Iyamu because of his grassroots base. Pius Odubu as well and Chris Ogienwoyi are forces in Edo politics since the last ten years. If you play the cards well, they can step down for you and give you their structures. It is not called begging, but lobbying the key decision makers to grant you your wishes. People have companies lobbying politicians in the United States for favourable legislation and even defence contracts. Also note that Tinubu and Buhari cannot instruct Oshiomole to support you or not to and Oshiomole would listen to them, he'd lose face and political capital. Same way, Oshiomole cannot instruct Ize-Iyamu, Ogienwoyi, Odubu or 14 house of assembly members to support you, and they'd listen. All politicians have their interests and would not serve a single politician's interests. In this light, no politician would sacrifice their ambitions for another politician if there is nothing to gain or compensation for them. I wish you well, but with the way you are going and with politicians like Idahosa talking carelessly, you are making your case worse and may be forced to throw in the towel. Just as the fundamental currency of the INEC chairman is integrity and track-record of successes, the currency of a politician is a strong support base; lose it and lose everything.

If I was your relative, I'd tell you to gather what is left of your integrity and don't continue this fight. The enemies are too much and are baying for your political blood. If you lose this fight, that would be the end of your political career and forget about any board appointment by any company in Nigeria or abroad because your political inexperience would be used to adjudge your sense of professional judgement. Try and recall Mohammed Lawal, DSP Alamieyeseigha, Oserheimen Osunbor, Celestine Omeiha and Akinwumi Ambode. Circumstances were different, but the end result was the same.

Obaseki should remember that failed Ambode and failed Akinlade (Amosun’s boy in Ogun State who was defeated by Governor Dapo Abiodun) also visited the Villa, laughing like clowns, yet, when the chips were down, they ALL failed miserably!

The clown refused to swear-in majority (14) members of the Edo State House of Assembly. He used thugs to bomb the homes of his fellow APC members in Edo State. He harassed Oshiomhole, blocked the road to his house, caused policemen to apply teargas on Oshiomhole’s family members and supporters in Benin. He also told Oshiomhole to write him (Obaseki) for permission every time he wanted to visit Edo State! Imagine the insult to his benefactor!!!

To those hailing Obaseki, can you allow these chain of humiliation, harassment, and daily insults from a junior colleague or younger fellow you helped in the course of his career?

It’s too late when the head is cut off!

His party, APC, raised the first reconciliation committee led by Senate President Lawan, this same Obaseki rejected the Committee and insulted everyone on that Committee. The party ‘swallowed’ the insult and inaugurated a new reconciliation committee under the leadership of pioneer Chairman Baba Akande, a man in his 80s (and who could easily have been Obaseki’s father regarding age), yet, this same Obaseki boy refused to meet the members!

When he is close to Ambode Bus Stop, he should shout “O wa, O wa” and come down from the bus!

How could someone who established a thriving investment bank in Lagos fail ‘people management course’ in public service ? Tragic!

The truth is that governors had already sent Oshiomole parking and even after letting him stay he was seriously caged and even concede to their demands bt for Coronavirus which led the miscalculations on obasekis part Oshiomole was a forgotten issue in edo.

Lol... Corona virus or not, you're very far from the truth, and just living in Obaseki's dream.

Fact is, there was no way Oshiomhole could have been removed at the time, except through the courts. Unfortunately for the plotters, the Court of Appeals quashed that nonsensical move.

Oshiomhole could not have been removed via a proper political process, because:

1. Aside from the noisy Obaseki and Bagudu, and the green snake Fayemi, most of the governors elected under their party, were (and still are) pro Oshiomhole. In fact, Governor Uzodinma of Imo State vowed at the height of the crisis, that they would never allow Oshiomhole to be disgraced out of office.

2. The conference of APC State Chairmen has always been solidly behind Oshiomhole. That was one of the pressure groups that met with Buhari at the height of the crisis and put their foot down for Oshiomhole.

3. When some of the treacherous governors met with Buhari to try to convince him to support their bid to boot out Oshiomhole, other governors present vehemently opposed any such move, and Buhari agreed that the then purportedly scheduled NEC, be called off. So even if that NEC meeting held, Obaseki+Bagudu+Fayemi couldn't have succeeded in removing Oshiomhole as their party's National Chairman.

4. Buhari did not allow even a spineless Odigie-Oyegun, who had lost all controls of the NASS, to be disgraced out of office, talk less of Oshiomhole, who Buhari has acknowledged as having done a lot better than Oyegun as party Chairman, particularly in the area of bequeathing to Buhari a very friendly and supportive houses of the National Assembly, both in their leaderships and majority membership and stability!

5. It's always been clear that Oshiomhole's loyalists form the greater majority of the voting membership of their NWC. That body of loyalists was in fact recently strengthened. The last time I checked, the one-man-riot Deputy National Chairman, North, Shu'aibu(?) walked out of the NWC meeting at which the direct primaries option was adopted for Edo State. His reason? "I will not be part of that illegality," lol.

People such as Odigie-Oyegun in particular, have been barefaced liars with the false and dull narrative that Buhari at some !meeting, had mandated that Obaseki be given a second term. Such people are the true casualties of the current political fight in Edo State.

But hey, what do I know, right?

3. To my believe, the meeting was just caricature to fulfil all the righteousness that they tried to helped him. But Alas, nothing good will come out of the meeting as Obaseki faith has been sealed after Oshiomole survived his removal

I recall when some people in Kwara State urged immediate past Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed to betray Bukola Saraki just under one year after he was elected Governor in 2011, Abdulfatah said, I can't forget: "I was a Senior Manager at Guaranty Trust Bank Kano when this man called me and appointed me as Commissioner for Finance and after eight years in his cabinet, he did EVERYTHING to make me Governor, even against his longtime friends. Should I betray such a benefactor? No, I'm not an ingrate, I would not!"

It was the same thing when people told current Governor (Professor) Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno State to betray immediate past Governor and current Senator, Kashim Shettima. Zulum said: "This man brought me from the University of Maiduguri as a lecturer and made me Commissioner, he entrusted me with huge resources for the resettlement of IDPs. He also went out of his way, and practically abandoned all those who have been politicians for several decades and picked me, a 'baby politician'. Should I now start insulting the same man? I do not have any strand of ingratitude in my DNA."

Ask Fashola. He used tact and wisdom to manage Tinubu, and he eventually had a smooth 2nd term as Governor and he's a 2-term Minister of the Federal Republic today!
