PoliticsRe: Edo 2020: Obaseki To Meet Buhari Over APC Primary Controversy by duwdu: 11:56pm On May 26, 2020
emkz:
Governor Obaseki, between you and Oshiomole, who has more political capital? If the APC were to sacrifice someone between you and Oshiomole, who would they get rid of? You had zero electoral value but Oshiomole pushed you through the primaries and the main elections, against the advise of his own cabinet; yet you chose to mess him up. Do not be like the proverbial cockroach, who was invited to lunch with chickens and thought itself a chicken because it has wings; it would surely end up in the belly of the chicken.

You played the drums of war by talking senselessly and attempting to kick the man who lifted you out of the party, now is the time to dance the dance. Amosun has been a friend of the President since their days in ANPP and President Buhari did not support his candidate in the last elections, so what makes you think he'd support you?

If you are as popular as Crusoe Osagie is saying you are, test the waters by direct primaries. Your claims of danger in assembling 500k persons because of Covid-19 is weak. Direct primaries would be held at the ward level and social distancing is guaranteed. You are an intelligent man, afterall you rose to become an Executive in Dangote Group, but you lack an understanding of strategy and grassroots politicking. Don't contest.
We'll said.

LOL.

You can as well expect Buhari to ask INEC to no longer go ahead with the election proper, since that one is an even much more densely populated form of a direct primary?

Oshiomohle and Edo APC opted for indirect primary in 2016 because there was no faction in the state APC then. But now there are 2 factions and the APC constitution gave the NWC the power to organize Governorship primaries. The best way to go is not to allow the 2 factions hold parallel primaries which is the reason the NWC choose Direct Primary. It’s unfortunate that Obaseki and his minions are fighting someone who head the NWC and that makes Oshiomohle’s work very easy to get back at Obaseki. People like this so called party chieftain misled Obaseki now they’re trying to safe their faces after pushing him to the dungeon of politics.

As long as you Ibos have this stoopeed mentality that Afonjas are your problem, you will continue to live in internal pain and servitude!
As long as you feel Jagaban is responsible for your owes, as if he was the President, your life will continue to be miserable
Just as your wailing Parents were crying that it was Awolowo that completely fried them in their ill-fated, thoughtless cessession skirmish.

Obaseki did not find a single Ibo man worthy of consultation for his tribulation, he went to a Yoruba man!
Think about it, does that not show any sensible person that the Yoruba Tinubu offers unparrallel value that any Ibo man alive?
Swallow your pride and stupidity, Buhari called you an inconsequential 5% that cannot win any federal election and is even struggling without sucess, to win a majority vote in Alaigbo. grin grin
Jagaban is just one, l repeat, ONE of the many intelligent people in Yorubaland.
There are too many of such people but the whole Alaigbo cannot boast of a single Political meastro because of their gra-gra mentality

2023 will come and go and las las, you Ibos will continue the servitude and slavery to the Hausa/Fulani, that you have been doing since 1967.
The Yorubas are tactical and have proved it repeatedly, they produce Nigeria's Presidents when they deserve it whereas, you Ibos are just like INEC, use and dump, till next election.
tongue

Even your Ipob "Bia-fraud" project has only brought you pains and gnashing of teeth, not nationhood. tongue
Hausa/Fulani is right now consulting the dictionary for what to call the next military operation in Alaigbo, something like Operation MONKEY DANCE, that will kill as many Cowards Ipob that dare to not stay in your slavery quarters.

You Ibos need deliverance from your evil and wicked heart towards Yorubas otherwise, you will keep wailing till Jesus come, while Yorubas are moving forward.
And is it not ironical that majority of Africans dont consider themselves very successful until they travel to the more established and developed Western Worlds like America and UK, while you Ibos dont get civilised until you can travel to the various Yoruba villages like Alimosho, Mushin, Bariga, Orile, Ijora, etc?

Hatred for Yorubas is killing Ibo people before their time.
The Person that used Yorubas success to swear for Ibo people really did a very bad thing, very strong thing because it looks like an eternal curse that they will never be able to escape from, unless Yoruba people pray for Ibos. undecided grin

Very thoughtful. Obaseki seems to have a good strategy
LOL; the election proper to be organized by INEC, is even a bigger form of direct primary, and INEC said it would go ahead as planned, COVID19 or not. So Obaseki's reasoning has no basis and will go up in smoke, just as your own post supporting Obaseki's way of reasoning, is in fact an insight into why some of you fail repeatedly in your political permutations and expectations. I think for all practical purposes, Obaseki is a goner as far as the APC gubernatorial primaries, is concerned.

Truly said. Actually, Buhari's non-challance is partly an attempt to prove that he is now a repentant democrat as he described himself in the build up to the 2015 election. It is, however, largely a manifestation of attitudinal weakness.

Buhari doesn't only show this weakness in political and State affairs; he does even in his family matters as revealed many times in Aisha's outcries, leaving his wife and family at the mercy of cabals and allowing the weel of State governance to be rolling at the dictates of the powers around him. Everyone of them keeps running country affairs gleefully while Buhari silently looks on as if he is helpless.
I totally agree.

I don't remember whether or not the following take was my own original idea; but going back in history, I had since believed that the tough, no-nonsense, even semi-draconian aura surrounding the Buhari-Idiagbon military regime, must have been championed mainly by the second-in-command Idiagbon, not Buhari, who was the official Head of State.

Buhari may be resilient and relatively upright, but he is not forceful. And a forceful leader, who hopefully will also be somewhat upright - a la Jerry Rawlings - may be an optimum character our type of society needs in leadership, especially at this point in our evolutionary journey as a nation.

But hey, we'll eventually get to be mature as a nation; it may just end up taking a long time.

You got it wrong. What happened in Rivers and Zamfara is that there are 2 parallel congresses to vote the state excos. In the case of Edo the NWC has choose direct primary for the governorship election. If Obaseki like he should boycott the direct primary and organize his own election INEC will not accept his name. The amended electoral law gave the NWC power to choose the mode of primary and also so submit the candidates names to INEC.
Whoa... If the sentence I've put in bold characters is a fact, then Oshiomhole has scored a home run against Obaseki, pure and simple; in other words, Obaseki is most probably a goner politically, methinks.

As if you were not on this planet then, Saraki's Senate was an opposition within the ruling Party's Government. Virtually every policy of Buhari's APC-led government received the stiffest opposition it couldn't have received if it was a Senate headed and dominated by opposition party.

During Saraki's reign, he did not only collaborate with the opposition by having one of them as his Deputy, he gave a solid backing to PDP in the National Assembly so much that opposition had a free reign, despite being the minority, countering almost every policy of the Executive, whether it was in the interest of the country or not.

Under Saraki, many legislators from the ruling party became an opposition against the Party that produced them. They were galvanized by Saraki to go against the interests of the APC-led Executive. In fact, they even threatened to impeach the President at some point on flimsy grounds.

No ruling party since the advent of democracy had had it so rough under their own Senate President as APC had under Saraki. In short, under Saraki, the ruling party became an opposition and the opposition became the ruling party in the National Assembly.
This is reference material, and you're even totally decent in your way of making these points.

In the same vein, you've avoided having to drag in those issues some observers considered showcased even the more treacherous nature of Bukola Saraki. Those things, in fact, made Saraki's disgraceful loss in his bid to return to the Senate such sweet music to the ears of both the hierarchy and membership of his now erstwhile party, the APC!

Every treachery should have consequences.

If Buhari didn't intervene then because he wanted to be re-elected, you think that he would be interested now that he has nothing at stake?

See, Buhari's intervention or no intervention is not a matter of being re-elected. It is just his nature. Buhari has shown since 2015 that when it comes to party politicking, he is taciturn, indifferent, detached and aloof. He doesn't care. If he do, he would have intervened in Obaseki-Oshiomole's fisticuffs from onset; not just now.

It took the prevailing of APC Governors on him before he showed any sign of intervention in the crisis that ensued during the attempts to remove Oshiomole as Party Chairman.
My thinking and sentiments, exactly. Meanwhile, some people never recognize that some charlatans simply know how to drop names - Buhari's especially - in the current political dispensation. Thanks for posting.

Obaseki should just give up at this juncture, and port to any other political party of his choice. He, Obaseki lost the battle, the very moment Osho survived the final onslaught against his chairmanship position, when he (Obaseki) went for the kill and failed.
We, the neutral political observers, already knew it will end in tears for Gov. Obaseki, as this scenario is akin to a football match, where the center referee(Oshiomole) is not just a fan, but a club owner of one of the competing teams in the match, so the outcome is very much obvious.

And Obaseki should stop banking on Buhari at this stage, as he (Buhari) has not saved any of his very close political allies before in this kind of tussle, case study e.g Okoracha, Amaosun and Amaechi.

PoliticsRe: How Azikiwe Legalized Corruption In Nigeria by duwdu: 8:12pm On May 13, 2020
mike8804:
NWAFOR ORIZU: CROOK, CONVICT TURNED SENATE PRESIDENT

Dr. Abyssinia Akweke Nwafor Orizu (1920-1999) being a crook should never have held any political office had Nigeria been a proper country.

In 1946, Orizu presided over a new form of heartless fraud. Families and whole villages in the East sold their possessions to send a single student from their village to university because like Awolowo, they were passionate about the benefit of a good education.

Orizu, a PhD holder, formed an agency, American Council on African Education (ACAE) to process these village students' admission into American universities. He collected the maintenance funds from their parents and other sponsors and diverted them partly or totally to other personal and business schemes.

In 1947, two prominent African-Americans Alain Locke and George Schulyer resigned over Orizu’s conduct of affairs.

Horace Mann Bond, the African-American president of Lincoln University in Pennsylvania who provided Orizu’s agency with many tuition-free scholarships complained regularly and bitterly about Orizu’s failure to financially support the students whom Orizu had placed in his school.

The 32-year-old Orizu was found out and on the 2nd of February 1953, he was arrested.

Nnamdi Azikiwe, Mbonu Ojike, and Kola Balogun went to bail him out. On 9th February, his brother Joseph Onyekusi Orizu was arrested in Gusau and taken to Port Harcourt.

On 12th February both brothers were charged in a statement that read:

“That you between May 1, 1946, and December 31, 1951, at Port Harcourt, in the Port Harcourt Magisterial District, conspired together with other persons unknown to defraud such person as might be induced to deposit money with you as officers and agents of a body known as the American Council on African Education Incorporated, and you thereby committed an offence punishable under the Criminal code.”

When their lawyer told the court that Orizu was an honourable man, a PhD holder, a royal Prince in Nnewi, a member of the regional legislature, and also Azikiwe’s nominee for Minister of Local Government, Magistrate Dickson retorted:

''This court is not a department under the Government and it is not subject to any political party.”

Orizu was later jailed for 7 years. On Tuesday 22nd September 1953, he arrived at the Lagos Prison by train under escort to serve his term.

At the House of Commons debate of April 29, 1953, James Johnson the MP for Kingston upon Hull West berated Oliver Lyttelton, the Secretary of Colonies for taking so long to arrest the Orizu brothers:

“Is not it somewhat disgraceful that it has taken so long to investigate this case of defrauding parents and students? Hence allowing him to cause untold hardship to his own people?''

The logic behind the rule was that the government was a sacred job; if crooks were allowed to determine the destiny of the people, the people would suffer indefinitely.

Mbonu Ojike, Nnamdi Azikiwe and Ozumba Mbadiwe started to entrench the false narrative that Orizu was convicted by the British colonial government not for embezzlement but as a revenge for his fiery anti-colonial speech given at the 1947 Enugu Coal riots rally.

Never mind that more important figures such as H.O. Davies also gave fiery speeches at the rally too but were not fraudsters hence not fated for conviction by the colonial government. But in the case of Orizu, colonialism became the excuse for a crook to be turned into a national hero.

Azikiwe made Orizu whole by nominating him unopposed to represent Nnewi in the Federal elections of 1959 that ushered in self-rule.

The existence of colonialism provided Nigeria’s moral system the perfect excuse to develop and strengthen the disdain for the objective perception of value on which any civilised society must rest. When colonialism expired in 1960, the disdain remained alive and thriving through the force of habit.

In 1961 for instance, Dr. Okejukwu Ikejiani the Pro-Chancellor of the University of Ibadan was caught lying about a certificate he never had.

A visiting scholar from the University of Toronto who happened to be from the same department which allegedly awarded Ikejiani’s certificate was the first to point out that Ikejiani never had that esteemed Doctor of Science degree.

Ibadan erupted and there were calls for Ikejiani to resign and be prosecuted. To Azikiwe who was the Head of State, the visitor to the university and in charge of such appointments, Ikejiani was being “persecuted” because he, Azikiwe, had dared to appoint another Igbo after Francis Ibiam as the Pro-chancellor and head of the governing council of a flagship Federal University in a non-Igbo region in particular when the Vice-Chancellor was already an Igbo.

Before departing Toronto University where he rightly earned his undergraduate medical degree, Ikejiani seduced and frequently unhooked the lovely secretary at the Vice-Chancellor’s office until she embossed a Doctor of Science certificate in his name complete with authentic signatures but with no education behind it.

After the Toronto University investigation into the matter, the secretary realised her wrongdoing and quietly accepted her dismissal. But that was Canada.

In Nigeria, one of the criteria of eligibility for being considered a national hero was to be a bonafide crook.

When Ikejiani was forced to finally resign, being a medical doctor, Azikiwe made him whole like Orizu by appointing him to the State House as one of his personal physicians. He was not done: Azikiwe then reappointed him again to his former unfilled post less than two years later. He still was not done: In 1964, Azikiwe decorated him with the national honour – Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON) – pun unintended – ‘for his service to the nation.’

If anyone is interested in why Nigeria ended up being a pit latrine of implacable corruption where intelligence cannot assert itself in the conduct of public affairs, the Orizu and Ikejiani Affair is where to begin.

Azikiwe put into disorder all considerations based on value. And the absence of the objective perception of value produced the will to tribalism which eliminated the prospect of any meaningful progress for the nation.

And the story continues.......... #HistoryVille

PoliticsRe: British Did Not Handover Nigeria To Fulani, Nnamdi Azikwe Did. by duwdu: 7:46pm On May 13, 2020
IamPatriotic:
Parliamentary elections were held in Nigeria on 12 December 1959. The result was a hung parliament with no clear majority to form a government.

Zik's National Council of Nigeria and Cameroons (NCNC), came first with 2,594,577 votes to get 81 seats.

Awolowo's Action Group (AG), came second with 1,992,364 votes to get 73 seats.

However, the Ahmadu Bello's Northern People's Congress (NPC), came a distant third with 1,922,179 votes to get 134 of the 312 seats in the House of Representatives despite getting less public votes.

The above three major political parties in the election did not get enough number of the seats to form a government. An alliance had to be formed to determine who would rule.

It was a no brainer that Zik's NCNC and Awolowo's Action Group should make a coalition government as they came first and second respectively.

Awolowo, then humbled himself and volunteered to be a Deputy Prime Minister or Finance Minister in a coalition government with Zik as the Prime Minister. This was because the Zik's NCNC party had more public votes and seats than the Awolowo's Action Group.

Zik invited Awolowo’s team to Asaba, the gateway between the Yoruba's Western Region and the Igbo's Eastern Region to hold coalition talks. The talks were a clever ruse to keep Action Group’s hopes high, so that Action Group would be kept distracted from meeting with other minor parties for talks, including: Northern Elements Progressive Union with 8 seats; Mobolaje Grand Alliance with 6 seats; Igala Union with 4 seats; Independents Candidates with 4 seats; Igbira Tribal Union with 4 seats and the Niger Delta Congress with 1 seat.

Whilst the Action Group team was waiting in Asaba for a meeting with the NCNC, they read in the news that Zik and the NCNC had gone up North and clinched the deal with Ahmadu Bello on forming a coalition government with the NPC.

Tafawa Balewa, a Fulani, would be the Prime Minister of Nigeria while Zik would be the figure head Governor-General. Even Nkrumah of Ghana was shocked. He asked Zik why having spent so much energy fighting for colonial emancipation and then settling for a toothless bulldog role when Nigeria needed him the most.

Zik wrote in his autobiography why he did not form a coalition government with Awolowo.

In 1947, with over £13,500 raised from the Yoruba people and given to the NCNC, Zik had led other six prominent NCNC delegates to London to protest the “obnoxious laws” of Governor Arthur Richards. The trip ended in failure with backbiting, abuses and accusation of theft against Zik. Zik’s opponents at the NCNC, accused him of squandering the money and the trust of Nigerians.

Zik replied insinuating that the Yoruba on the team, that are: Mrs. Fumilayo Ransome-Kuti, Prince Adeleke Adedoyin, and Dr. A. B. Olorunnimbe, were the problem.

There erupted a heated and prolonged press war between Zik’s Political Reminiscence in his West African Pilot and H.O. Davies’ Political Panorama in the Daily Service. This led to Igbo in Lagos rushing to buy machetes in large numbers thinking a tribal war was imminent.

The Governor and his General Secretary, Hugh Foot, quickly called Zik and H.O. Davies to order at the Government House.

Zik went away with the resolve that “the Yoruba must not be allowed to rule over others in Nigeria”.

And afterwards in the Daily Service published the speech of Zik in 1949 about Igbo being destined by God to conquer and rule over others. This among others, will explain why Zik rejected Awolowo's offer of a coalition government in 1959 and instead worked with the Fulani.

The Fulani had been reading Zik and the Igbo through the lens of his 1949 speech ever since.

The Fulani way of neutralising Zik when the opportunity came in 1959 was to offer him a powerless post, which surprisingly Zik and the NCNC dutifully accepted in place of being Nigeria’s first Prime Minister.

Zik had thought that the Igbo can easily manipulate the Fulani in place of the educated Yoruba. He thus manipulated Balewa to arrest Awolowo in 1962 and to have him jailed for 10 years in 1963.

Zik also manipulated Balewa to remove from the Western Region the Edo, Urhobo, Itsekiri and Western Ijaw that account for 70% of the oil wealth in Nigeria and created for them the Mid-West Region.

Zik's hatred for the Yoruba gave the Fulani the impetus to rule over others in Nigeria.

The Igbo coup plotters tried to undo Zik's mistake in 1966. And unfortunately, they killed other tribes and left theirs, which resulted in the civil war.

Britain did not really hand over Nigeria to the Fulani. Nigeria was given over to the Fulani by the Igbo.

However, to hold on to power in Nigeria, the Fulani enlisted the backing of the self-serving career politicians in England.

Not many Igbo especially the young ones know this narrative. I don’t think the Yorubas, even their elders remember this. Has the leopard changed its spots?

~ Babalola Akinnuoye writes from Ibadan, Western Nigeria.
Hmm, na wa.

—1983, Igbos voted Shagari again against Awolowo and even Ojukwu campaigned openly for Shagari - Yorubas just forge on

—1993, Igbos voted majorly for Tofa against a fellow southerner MKO- the Yorubas don’t scream betrayal

—1999, Igbos voted for OBJ (favored mostly by the North) and neglected Falae the Yoruba choice

—Yoruba only voted the Northerner in 2015 and Igbos started crying over the media of betrayal. What betrayal? Is it not a democracy anymore?

tamdun:
Saw this on nairaland ( can't remember d date) and I decided to refresh our memory
Do you know that when Tafawa Balewa was Prime Minister of Nigeria;

Chief of Army Staff was from SE
Chief of Naval Staff was from SE
IG of Police was from SE
Chief of Defence Staff was from SE
Internal Affairs Minister SE
External Affairs Minister SE
Education Minister South SE
Many other key ministries to SE
Parliament President SE
Unilag VC from SE
The University of Ibadan VC from SE
North resisted same at ABU!

Still, there was dissatisfaction by SE, the officers from the region killed this same Balewa!!!!

Out of all the most senior officers in Nigeria, SE has 37, none was killed. 8 from the north, all of them were killed. 10 from the west, 2 were killed.

Then Ironsi imposed a unitary system of government on the country so that everything can belong to a region who snatched it!

We must know our history so that when we want to make corrections, we will not end up concealing the truth. This has nothing to do with tribalism but everything to do with the truth.....at times when lies litter the streets. There is a tendency to think those are truths and facts.

*What follows are documented facts that can be cross-checked for authenticity!"*

Thou shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free.

*“Prof. Ben Nwabueze was the man who drafted the constitution that took away powers from regions and handed it to the central government because his brother Aguiyi Ironsi was the head of state then. Today, he is shouting restructuring that he helped to destroy. We won’t forget.”*.

WHAT BIAFRANS WILL NEVER TELL YOU ABOUT THE REAL CAUSE OF THEIR WOES IN NIGERIA TODAY:

The Igbo man is known to enjoy blaming the Hausa fulanis, Yorubas and indeed every other Nigerian tribe and Lord Luggard/Britain for their seeming claim of being in third class citizen status in Nigeria. In their perpetual attempts to play the victim card, they recount the political events of Nigeria from 1914 to the present in a half-baked and highly selective manner which cleverly avoids the mention of the roles played by their elite who by all natural laws of judgement were actually responsible for the woes that befell not only the Igbo race but the entire Nigeria nation. The story told in the post above is one of such selective and distorted accounts of history which the average Igbo man is fond of narrating.

However, the national archives have the complete and unedited history of Nigeria regarding the political events beginning way back from even before 1914. I will therefore proceed to furnish my readers with the complete story for all to read and be endowed with enough facts so as to judge and act from an informed position.

Shortly after the 1914 Amalgamation of the Northern and Southern Protectorates, it started getting clear that the country was bound to fail as the amalgamation in question was done with colonial fiat without the consent and consensus of the different tribes which were over 300. This prompted the political leaders to start asking for de-amalgamation so as to forestall the future danger which the forced amalgamation portended.

To that end, Ahmadu Bello, speaking on behalf of the Northern protectorate in 1944 described the amalgamation as "The mistake of 1914 which if allowed to remain will ultimately lead to unstoppable bloodshed and a failed country".
Awolowo, speaking on behalf of the Yorubas and Western minorities, described Nigeria as a mere geographical expression not qualified to be called a country let alone a nation. Awolowo added that if the amalgamation could not be reversed, then Nigeria should be structured as a strictly federal state so as to enable each tribe enjoy autonomy this freedom from being dominated by any one single tribe.

But Nnamdi Azikiwe, speaking for the Igbos, denounced Awolowo and Ahmadu Bello, terming them ethnic champions. He accused them of nursing a sectional agenda against the unity of Nigeria, and he declared further that the Unity of Nigeria was non-negotiable.

After moving the motion for independece in 1953, Anthony Enahoro proposed that a secession clause should be incorporated into the future constitution of Nigeria so as to give legal backing for any tribe to peacefully exit the forced union if it feels marginalized in future. According to Enahoro, such provision in our constitution would instill in all Nigeria's future leaders the fear of the consequences of misgovernance. But Azikiwe, speaking on behalf of Igbos, rose against him in the parliament and labelled him an agent of disunity, and enemy of Nigeria. At a later date, Awolowo too made a case for secession clause, but Azikiwe again resisted him and instigated the colonial authorities to threaten him and Enahoro with charges of treasonable felony if they didn't stop proposing secession clause for the future constitution. While Azikiwe did all these, Igbos cheered and urged him on because they felt the future Nigeria was theirs to dominate and lord it over every other tribe

Before independece, Tafawa Balewa too had in a public speech described Nigeria as a British experiment and Nigeria's unity as a British intention which Nigerians themselves don't believe in. But Azikiwe kicked and demonized him too. Had Azikiwe co-operated with Enahoro, Awolowo, Ahmadu Bello and Tafawa Balewa about the secession clause, Nigeria perhaps would not have been this misgoverned.

For those in doubt, here is a link of one of the numerous instances in which Nnamdi Azikiwe fought against the secession clause proposal for the future Nigeria constitution.

It should be noted that there were many Igbo members of the parliament in which Azikiwe fought against Awolowo's secession clause proposal in the link above, but not a single one of them rose against Azikiwe or condemned him.

Igbos initially never wanted to hear anything like secession in Nigeria because they so much believed, though falsely, that they were the most educated tribe. (The first Nigerian tribe to produce a university graduate is the Binis). As an evidence of Igbo domination agenda hence their initial resistance to the idea of secession; here are some quotes:

"From all indications, the god of us Igbos have destined us to rule the whole of Africa"..... Nnamdi Azikiwe (1945).

"It is getting clearer each day that Igbo domination of Nigeria is just a question of time"... Oscar Onyeamma. (1949). Anascopeterson: As at 1900, the whole of the present Benue State, Kogi East Senatorial District and some southern parts of Taraba State called Munchi District back then; were all in the Southern Protectorate. Whoever doubts this should consult MacMillan Atlas for secondary schools in Nigeria. With that situation the South had a higher population than the North hence always had an upper hand in any democratic bargain.

But as at the early fifties when the regions were being created, common sense dictated clearly that these areas should fall in the future Eastern Region. But against common sense, the colonial masters decided to gerrymander them into the Northern Region. While they did that, Azikiwe who was supposed to be in Enugu fighting against it as the leader of the East, was far away in Ibadan struggling with Awolowo to rule the Western Region and also playing the spoiler role against Awolowo's attempts to have Kwara and present Kogi Yorubas carved into the Western Region from the North which was already too large by landmass.

Anascopeterson: While he abandoned his burning house and was far away in Ibadan struggling against Awolowo for his own (Awolowo's) region, Igbos saw absolutely nothing wrong with that. Rather they applauded him as a nationalist. A nationalist whose house was burning yet busy chasing rats in a far away land.
Anascopeterson: When opinions became unanimous that Lord Luggard and his government must be forced out of Nigeria and indeed the whole of Africa, it was still the Igbos that frustrated the attempts. Here is how:

In 1948, Anthony Enahoro organized an anti-colonization symposium in Lagos for which Azikiwe and some other Igbos had agreed to deliver the keynote address. But when the D-day came, Azikiwe was nowhere to be found as he deliberately disappeared into thin air for fear of being arrested and dealt with by Lord Luggard. Anthony Enahoro then quickly replaced Azikiwe with another person who did the job improptu but perfectly well as he lambasted and lampooned Lord Luggard and the British Government. However, the British soldiers invaded the symposium venue, arrested the speaker and Enahoro and jailed them for treasonable felony. Ironically, the next day Azikiwe came out of hiding and granted a radio interview in which he accused Enahoro and the other organizers of suffering from youthful exhuberance.

On regaining his freedom few weeks later and being told of Azikiwe's radio interview, Enahoro resigned from his post as Editor of Azikiwe's newspaper - The West African Pilot.

Then he wrote a book titled "Nnamdi Azikiwe: Sinner of Saint". After launching the book, Enahoro left Azikiwe's party - the NCNC, and moved over to Awolowo's Action Group.

Anascopeterson: The first military coup in Nigeria was carried out by majority of Igbo army officers. That was the coup that truncated democracy just six years post Independence and led to a succession of coups which put the country on the reverse gear for 33 years.

Through that first coup, those Igbo army officers who accused the politicians and government of the day of monumental corruption, killed the political leaders of the Northern, Western and Midwestern Regions but allowed all Igbo political figures to escape by tipping them off prior to the D-Day. In addition to the killing of political figures, they also killed a total of 27 innocent high ranking military officers from every region except their Eastern Region.

In the end an Igbo man called Aguiyi Ironsi, who was supposed to have been killed alongside other military officers, ended up becoming the new military ruler of Nigeria. Rather than immediately arrest and punish the coup plotters, he kept them in detention where they were treated as heroes. This was actually what sowed the seed for the eventual Biafra War. On the 23rd of February 1966 (i.e. a month and 8 days after the first coup porpularly but wrongly known as Nzeogwu coup, an Ijaw born Army officer called Isaac Adaka Boro who hailed from Kaima town of present Bayelsa State, declared the secession of the Niger Delta Republic in an attempt to free his Ijaw people from the monumental marginalization they had been suffering under Igbos in the old Eastern Region.
But Aguiyi Ironsi immediately ordered Colonel Odumegwu Ojukwu to arrest him and hand him over to the military high command under him in Lagos. Ojukwu went all out against Isaac Adaka Boro with federal military might and within 12 fighting days killed 150 Isaac Boro's soldiers, arrested him, stripped him naked, and had him driven to Lagos and handed to Ironsi who immediately charged him to court and within two months secured against him a conviction of treasonable felony for which he was sentenced to death by hanging fixed for December that year by the Supreme Court. His 'crime' was that he declared secession of The Niger Delta Republic from Nigeria. Meanwhile the Igbo coupists who shed innocent blood of other tribes and even sprayed bullets into the bellies of the pregnant wives of Ahmadu Bello and Brigadier Shodeinde were not charged to court or arraigned before any military tribunal.

Isaac Adaka Boro was in detention waiting for December to come for him to join his ancestors. But God so kind, a revenge coup happened on July 29 by Northern soldiers and Ironsi was overthrown and killed. Gowon took over and released Isaac Adaka Boro unconditionally, reinstated him into the Army with his previous rank.

Then on May 30, 1967, Ojukwu too declared secession of Biafra Republic from Nigeria and without consulting or apologising to Isaac Boro, drew a Biafra map which included the very areas that made up Isaac Adaka Boro's earlier declared Niger Delta Republic for which he fought against him and killed his soldiers. Seeing such level of arrogance in Ojukwu, Isaac Boro asked Gowon to provide arms for him to crush Biafra by fighting on the Nigerian side in vengeance for Ojukwu's frustration of his own secession declaration 15 months earlier.
Isaac Boro, as an Ijaw man conversant with the waterways, led the Nigeria Army through the coastal areas into Igboland to finish off thousands of Ojukwu's soldiers thus leading to the crushing defeat of Biafra. But today, Igbos accuse Ijaws of betraying them in the war. But from the facts as above, who really betrayed the other in all honesty? Be the judge. Why Gowon fought against Ojukwu's declaration of Biafra was as follows:

After Ironsi and Ojukwu successfully crushed Isaac Boro's Niger Delta Republic declaration, Ironsi immediately proceeded to promulgate the Anti-secession Decree which made the mere mention of secession from Nigeria punishable with death by hanging. Ojukwu openly supported and endorsed the decree despite disapproval of it by the general public. So when Ojukwu later declared Biafra secession, he was reminded of the Anti-secession Decree made by him and his brother Ironsi.

Deadly Truth: Igbos frequently reference Aburi Accord to create the impression that the rest of Nigerian tribes don't honour agreements. This is a very dishonest narrative from Igbos.

First and foremost Aburi Accord was organized by soldiers and unelected civil servants who should not participate in political exercises like making laws due to the civil service anonymity principle. Secondly, those civil servants and military men in attendance were not elected by their federal constituencies to the Aburi summit. In the philosophy of democracy the only universally acceptable way of making laws is through duly elected representatives of the people. But in going to Aburi the peoples' representatives duly elected in the 1965 elections were all sidelined for soldiers to hijack the process. Where on earth do soldiers make laws for the people? Rather, the civilian populace makes laws that guide the military. Aburi Accord therefore had no seal of the people's sovereignty hence it was an illegality which shouldn't have been allowed to stand.

Thirdly, in 1957, Nigerians from all federal constituencies democratically elected representatives whom they sponsored to London, paid their flight tickets and hotel accommodation for the Independence constitutional conference. Those representatives all resolved and agreed on federalism marked by regional autonomy and resource control in the Independence Constitution which they brought back home and everyone accepted it.

In that constitution, Nigerians all agreed that on no account shall the military take over power. It was also clearly stated in it that ammendments to it could be done by only democratically elected representatives.

That constitution was the first ever agreement between all Nigerians. On the day of his inauguration as the Army GoC, Aguiyi Ironsi stood before the whole world and with his own mouth swore to protect and defend that sovereign Independence constitution regardless of the circumstances that may later arise. But just six years after he manufactured an excuse to clinch power against the clear provisions of that constitution we all agreed to, unilaterally began to amend its provisions with his very offensive Decrees, and ended up dismantling the federalism and resource control therein, and ultimately subverted that constitution we all painstakingly sacrificed to draft. That was the height of Irresponsibility and the dishonoring of sacred agreement. That was how Igbos breached the first agreement, all Nigerians, ever all mutually consented to, thus laying the foundation for violation of future agreements.

So Aburi Accord was only treated exactly the same way Igbos treated the Independence constitution agreement.

Typical Igbo hypocrite. You were on Mars when Kanu was writing a bible based on hate against Yorubas? You were on the Moon when he decreed Yorubas must be killed before a snake if both are in the same room with an Igbo?

Abi you dey kirikiri or Guantanamo Bay when Kanu demanded Igbos must not patronise Yoruba churches and businesses?

This is why you Igbos will remain hated. You only see the reaction of others and never the actions from Igbos, you supported by commission or omission, others later react to.

Call Yorubas betrayers because you could not have Biafta yet conveniently forget Azikiwe was first to betray the South when he colluded with the North to truncate Awolowo's effort to have a secession clause inserted in our constitution in 1954.

Have you guys ever blamed Azikiwe, the real culprit, for your inability to gain Biafra? Hell no !!! Na Yoruba man Awolowo una face with venom, insult, lies, revisionist and propaganda in another shameful show of how Igbo man is fond of attacking others and sparing his own.

Cry daily you are hated yet forget the hate that led your leaders to brutally kill the leaders of others while sparing their Igbo compatriots.

Beef Nigeria non-stop about "forcing" you to remain in the "zoo" yet forget it was Ironsi who decreed we must have unitary system at a time Igboman thought he could use his position as head of State to subjugate other Nigerians and deeply their commonwealth for Igbos to control.

Label North "born to rule" and Yorubas "greedy" yet conveniently forget the greatest show of greed and lust for power Azikiwe and Igbos showed in their quest to have Igbos dominate and control very influential positions of leadership and authority in Yorubaland.

Till today, and non-stop, this "I go before others" hypocrisy of Igbos remains on display for all to see. Oga look in the mirror to see the face of revisionism and hypocrisy that makes Igbos to be hated and disliked.
This is reference material; thanks for posting.

I know you Igbos will never ever be bold enough to face Yorubas in general election. Instead, you will go and hide behind the North to fight the Yorubas.

Igbos hid behind Tarawa Balewa and Ahmadu Bello against Awolowo pre independence and post independence. Igbos colluded with Sheu Shagari against Awolowo in 1979 and 1983. Igbos also colluded with Bashir Tofa against MKO Abiola in 1993 because Igbos are afraid to face Yorubas in a general election. A RECORD OF PDP BAD GOVERNANCE, MIS-APPROPRIATION, MIS-RULE AND MIS-MANAGEMENT OF STATE RESOURCES
1. Why were pensioners of NTEL not paid in the 16 years that PDP was in power.
2. Why didn't the PDP complete the dualisation of the Lagos-Ibadan expressway in its 16 years in power?
3. Why didn't the PDP complete the Lagos-Abeokuta expressway in its 16 years in power?
4. Why did the PDP generate only 3000 megawatts of electricity in its 16 years in power even though oil price was well above $100 dollars a barrel and nigeria was earning high income from oil exportation?
5. Why didn't the PDP start and complete the Lagos-Ibadan railway project in its 16 years in power?
7. Why didn't the PDP complete the Lagos airport project in its 16 years in power?
8. Why didn't the PDP complete the Portharcourt airport project in its 16 years in power?
9. Why did Dasuki a PDP chieftain collect $2.8 billion dollars for arms purchase and share the money to his fellow PDP politicians without buying any weapons for Niigerian soldiers fighting Boko Haram? Why did the office of the NSA become office of National Share-man of Association of looters?
10. Why did the entire police pension fund running into billions of dollars vanish into thin air under the management of PDP politicians?
11. Why was $4 million dollars meant to buy weapons for Nigerian security services found in Pastor Oritsejafors jet flying to south africa? Why were corrupt PDP politicians using pastors to launder stolen public fund?
12. Why did PDP politicians conspire with a female minister of petroleum resources Diezianni Alison-maduekwe to steal hundreds of billions of dollars of public income from oil export and they used it to acquire choice properties for themselves abroad.
13. Why did PDP politicians conspire with customs officers to embezzle import tax on imported goods? Why did Atiku collude with the Vaswani brothers and customs officers to defraud Nigeria of hundreds of millions of dollars in import tax from rice importation?
14. Why did PDP politicians steal so much public fund running into trillions of dollars and sell national assets to themselves at a fraction of their market value while the PDP claimed that it was fighting corruption during the 16 years PDP was in power?
15. How did PDP politicians acquire all the fleet of exotic cars, luxury hotels and private jets they fly around since most of them are retired civil servants that worked for the government all their life?
16. Why were pensioners of Nigeria Airways not paid in the 16 years that PDP was in power?
17. Why did PDP Politicians steal hundreds of Billions of Dollars of petroleum subsidy fund? Why was Nigeria paying for oil shipments that were never supplied?
18. Why did PDP politicians collude with corrupt millitary officers to defraud the nation of billions of dollars through arms importation? Why was Nigeria paying for fighter jets that were never supplied and paying multiple times? Why was Nigeria paying for weapons that were never supplied and paying multiple times?
19. Why was no new refineries builth in Nigeria and Nigeria was forced to import refined petroleum products in the 16 years that the PDP was in power?
20. Why was Nigerian infrastructure left to decay in the period that PDP was in power? No new schools were builth, no new roads, no new bridges, no new hospitals, no new airports, no new power stations, no new refineries, no new universities? Instead PDP politicians stole public fund to establish private businesses for themselves and their cronies.
WHY? WHY? WHY?
And the answre is:
CORRUPTION! CORRUPTION! CORRUPTION!
Some of these will sure come in handy from time to time.

PoliticsRe: Oshiomhole On Ihedioha Vs Uzodinma: Court Shouldn’t Impose Governors On People by duwdu: 1:21pm On Mar 04, 2020
LosC:
https://dailypost.ng/2020/03/03/ihedioha-vs-uzodinma-court-shouldnt-impose-governors-on-people-oshiomhole/
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, has described the arguments that votes in the Imo State governorship election that gave victory to Senator Hope Uzodinma was more that validly registered votes as “an assumption which is not supported by fact.”

By Clever Advertising According to Oshiomhole, what Nigerians should rather worry about is to see amendment to laws that will ensure candidate who was rejected by the electorate does not find his way to the government house, aided by the court.

The APC National Chairman pointed out that lawyers to the applicants failed to provide evidence that the votes declared for Uzodinma was more than the registered votes in court. Oshiomhole spoke to State House Correspondents after his brief visit to President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday.

The former Edo State Governor said, “You have made an assumption, which is not supported by fact, mainly by the speculation and the roadside talks by some elements in PDP, suggesting that there was over-voting if you add the votes that were ignored.

“Those are not proven because if they were, it was up to their counsel to provide evidence that it was more than the registered votes, not to go and say it on television.

“Matters before the court are canvassed before the court. Issues not raised in the court cannot be raised on television. I assume your question is informed by those uninformed, self-serving speculations. They don’t merit my reaction.

“What I think that we must discuss as a people, which concerns you and I as Nigerians, who believe in democracy, is that the law should be amended, such that no matter what happens, when people have voted, they cannot be dismissed as ‘April Fool’.

“You can’t say that although you have voted, and at the time you did so, you voted in good faith, believing that the candidates before you on parade were competent to be so paraded and as a Nigerian voter you voted, then at some other time some other person tells you that the man you voted for is not qualified either because of error in his name or because of chieftaincy title or whatever reason as to lead to disqualification, that cannot be the reason why a man who was rejected by the electorate would be imposed on the electorate.

“Courts should not impose. If the court finds out that the preferred candidate did not win, for me the only democratic option, legal option will be to repeat the exercise.

“Nothing should empower the court to impose a man rejected by the people, on the people. That goes to the heart of democracy and it destroys the fabric of our democratic process.

“So in amending the Electoral Act, one of the things I’ll like to see the parliament do and we are going to make a representation, is that in the unlikely event that the people have voted in good faith, for a candidate that was validly put before them by INEC, and looking at the faces of the candidates they opted for a particular one, if anybody has any issue with that one that the people prefer and has won, the court cannot impose the person that was rejected.

“The very best the court can do is to order that the exercise be repeated because in a democracy, nobody, other than the people, can choose who governs them, not the courts. For me this is fundamental when it comes to who actually won the election.

“The issue of whether Muhammed, Muhammadu or Momoh, whether they are one and the same person is too technical for the real electorate to bother about, when there are no two people parading themselves as to suggest whether there’s a case of impersonation. This system should not be determined by technicalities.

“At the heart of every judicial pronouncement on elections must be who actually won the majority of lawful votes and if for any reason they found themselves compelled to nullify that person, they should not be empowered to award governorship to a man rejected by the electorate, otherwise, what is democracy about?

“Now, the man in Bayelsa is going to govern a state that did not mandate him, purely on technical grounds. Nations are not governed by technicalities, they are governed by people popularly elected. That is the democracy we chose. This is not partisan issue at all, it’s about democracy. Court cannot impose losers as winners, for me it’s too fundamental.

“They must take advantage of the amendment to make it impossible for anyone to be so imposed on the basis of technicalities.

“We can do a rerun 10 times, but only the man popularly elected can govern, otherwise, in a democracy, as they say, the people deserve the government that they have. In this case you are going to have a government didn’t vote for superintending over your resources and presiding over your life. I think that is the kind of amendment I’ll like to see.

“It is not true that the votes Uzodinma were more than the accredited votes, those are PDP propaganda.”
Mehn, Mr. Adams Oshiomhole is one of the most eloquent and smart politicians a political party could ever hope to have in the Nigerian political space.
