Sibrah:
Not up to 30 minutes I finished googling the DoNotDisturb(DND) codes. STOP, ALLOW, STATUS to 2442 for stopping, allowing, and checking of status respectively.
DND codes have no effect on broadcast messages from the networks themselves; they only affect messages sent by third parties/advertisers using the instrument of the networks.

dustmalik:
So, i was able to unlock the Spectranet MiFi last night. It wasn't as complicated as i had anticipated.

GLO 4G reception is very impressive, i must say. I like what Glo has done with its LTE, that is, deploying it over fiber-optic instead of cell tower. That would ensure better handling of traffic and also better service quality. And band 28 has excellent in-building penetration.

All networks have terrible reception in my flat due to how the house was built. The ground floor is a little bit underground in a way, so that hampers signal. But with Glo 4G, i get full bars everywhere in my flat.
This is some good heads up, bro, well done.

In the meantime, I share the same experience and sentiment as expressed by saint2ace w.r.t GLO's network, though (Lekki.) But, we shall see.

So much bullshxt falling off you. The only reason i pay for Ntel is because of Unlimited. As i now wanted to download Call of Duty nko? Coming here to say shxt about abuse. The people that download games all over the world and use the internet they paid with their HARD EARNED money. What do you think they use to download it? Dial-up connection? Limited internet? It's until i pay 1K for 1.5GB on Etisalat 44times, that is when I'm doing it right yes?
Oga just park well abeg. 'Anywhere in the world, this is abuse of service'. Lol WTF?!

When FIFA 17 came out, i was chatting with my guy online in the UK. It is 40GB. I told him i already pre-ordered the game, he said he didn't buy it yet. He bought it immediately as we were talking. The same 40GB that Spectranet was telling me 11hrs left, he downloaded it in just over 30mins! 40GB in 30mins!

He started playing it before 1 hr and i was busy restarting Spectranet router.

He abused the service too right? Or is his case different?
That's it... So, you couldn't abuse Spectranet's relatively poor service despite having to pay higher for that in real terms, you then blatantly abused the more liberal and faster service from ntel, simply because you could? You indeed have a warped sense of maturity and accomplishment. Good luck!

Phones › Re: What Is Your 4G Experience? by duwdu:
For me, the ntel experience has been great along the Lekki axis (Lagos.) Both the attainable speed and stability/dependability have improved greatly. The signal strength - three bars in my crib most of the time for the past six weeks or so - hardly goes down anymore. I now use it as my daily driver, as well as for mission-critical Internet stuff.

I deploy the service over a Huawei E5372s-601 MiFi.

Besides, the unlimited data offering is still going strong, and is unbeatable for now, in my book.

I'm not affiliated in any way with ntel or any ISP; I just happen to be a happy camper.

Good luck, guys.

@OP;

Your posted download speed of 11Mbps on Etisalat's 4G service is unimpressive and underwhelming, especially as it's in an area with a full 4 bars of reception. One easily gets 50 Mbps on ntel 4G service on just 2/3 bars on the Lekki axis, and it's even better there on MTN's 4G service.

If that relatively poor speed on Eti was not due to a poor/mis-configuration on the device used or the particular neighborhood, then Etisalat would need to sit up already. Plus, that's a very low transit time, which is supposed to be good for/help with speed!

Just some heads up.

Good luck.

Seem your data was activated before you insert and put on the sim... In this case you get 10GB

You must activate the line then you get the double data offer.. then activate the 10GB double offer
Hmm... This doesn't add up, in my view. The double data offer is for new (or older but tweaked - *wink* ) devices only, and for six months max. MTN advertises the MiFi + 20 GB data for a total of N10k, and no mention of some double data activation ish whatsoever. [I got the invite text from MTN for the MiFi bundle offer myself.]

Bottom line: dustmalik has a solid, direct case, and will probably succeed getting MTN to keep their word. MTN's known to mix up issues when it comes to offers, anyways, and have had to be pushed to fully redeem some of their offers, especially of recent. Good luck redeeming the rest of the data, dustmalik - for the sake of the rest of us.

I have the E5372s-601 (also Spectranet branded,) and all specs I've unearthed do not point to support for Band 28. In the meantime, I'm yet to acquire a Glo 4G SIM for me to test the E5372 myself. So, TIA for your feedback.

I'm beginning to pick up Etisalat's LTE signal on an existing normal SIM (Lekki axis, Lagos.) It is very fleeting yet, making it difficult for the LTE Discovery app to properly display/record the band in use, but I strongly think it's 3 at this time.

Well done to you, OP, on this heads-up with the Power Nap module and Doze app, I find the combination quite useful indeed.

And, a very simple write up and update you got too. [One little typo: You consistently write "Dose," as the name of the app. The correct spelling is "Doze." I suggest you make the correction throughout your write up and posts, so your readers don't get frustrated unnecessarily while searching for/locating the app.]

Nice to see your post again. It's been a while, man. I guess you are doing great.

To the topic at hand. I deliberately didn't reply the other poster because i don't like arguing unnecessarily. I state facts and move on.

It's a known fact that the lower the frequency spectrum, the better the In-building penetration. Which, if all things equal, Glo would have had the advantage. But the issue is, band 28(700) is an extremely unpopular band. I can assure you that if you pick 20 random lte devices, more than 17 wouldn't support it. Now, compare it to band 7(2600), which I believe is the next most popular lte band after band 1(2100). You will find it present in 19 out of 20 random lte devices. This is the advantage MTN is going to enjoy.
I'm doing well, man, many thanks. Glad to see you're maintaining your knowledgeable, factual, consistent, and decent way of carrying the torch.

And, yep, in increasing number of scenarios, the success of a product (read: a 4G Band in this case,) is not measured solely by what its technology can do, but also on how much of the mainstream (read: market penetration) it corners.

Just to mention one technology case in point: At their joint births, Betamax was adjudged technologically superior to VHS. In spite of that, VHS with its better industry alliance, licensing, and marketing model within a few years drove Betamax out of the video tape world!

Yes, I believe MTN must have figured out before it was too late, that even Band 20 can't as yet stand the soaring penetration of Band 7.

'Nuff said.

[ I am sorry to disappoint you. 700M band is the best spectrum for LTE in Nigeria MTN didn't have the licence that was why the decide to buy Visafone what is the essence of LTE when you are shooting @ 2600m? 3G @2100 will be better in terms of penetrating power when you close your door in a concrete how the signal become erratic and unstable is that what you want? Moreso it's NCC that issue licence you don't chose the one you want they sell by spectrum]
I think the greater issue/concern over Glo's reported grab/choice of the older Band 28 on the 700MHz spectrum, is: What percentage of 4G enabled phones/devices in the mainstream support that band, or likely to support it moving forward in the form of new entrants? Based on what's being published, advertised or reviewed out there, that number is very small, unpopular, and is not likely to grow.

It is also my own personal experience, because my current two mid-range but well-regarded 4G LTE phones between them support Bands 1, 3, 7, 8, and 20. I deliberately made sure of that. None is smelling the 700MHz region! So I fully agree with dustmalik Glo may indeed have an unintended problem on her hands.

Having said all that, I'm sincerely wishing that Glo is just not solely on Band 28/700MHz (which, if I'm not mistaken, is based on the earlier FDD technology, anyways,) but that the network also finds its way into any or all (lol) of the more recent Bands 3, 7, 8, and 20 which are based on LTE-Advanced technology, and into which most of the LTE world is moving.

Good luck, everyone.
