Ologunsunny: in my own opinion gionee phone are usually over estimated when it comes to price, for example gionee p2 we all said that is not going to be below 17k and is 13500 and gionee m2 we taught is going to be like 30-32 but is just 21k5 so i dont see the reason why these phone will pass 25k
That makes sense.

This OP is not serious one bit, sorry.

To be honest, this sort of phone, in this day and age, should cost less than N9,000 new, really.

harizonal123: Not interested. This phone will be very heavy like weight life and around $244 is too expensuve , that's close to 40k we r talking about here. Sticking with my m2 plan
Why would you think the phone will turn out very heavy? Because of the huge power of the battery? For what it's worth, the new THL 5000 is surprisingly very light in weight, mainly because the new technology of its 5000maH battery makes it less heavy than would otherwise have been the case. The same sort of scenario is now being experienced with the iPhone 6 Plus!

I agree with you on the quoted expected price, though. That was why I wrote in an earlier post on this thread, that a sweet price point for this Gionee V188 here would be about 30k.

epoxide: after my direct conversation, the phone should be sold @ around #40,000
Hmm... I like the following two comments from the source site:

Marucok - September 1st, 2014 at 9:20 pm

That’s too bad. Why Gionee used a nearly obsolete SoC MT6582?, while Mediatek’s agressive invasion of their advanced SoCs already on mature prototype and released official reference design. On this step, Gionee seems like to sell the battery not the phone.
I prefer THL 5000 than this V188 and for the price tag…$244, wow this is a bad move.
Way too expensive specially compared to higher specs of Jiayu G4S – 3000mAh tagged only $190.
To keep competitive, it should be powered with MT6592/6595/6573 or higher SoC plus 1080p LCD, to match their 5200mAh energy.

The only positive move are HotKnot and their complete 3G Spectrum plus LTE.
But it’s not enough to impress peoples attention including me :-)
And the reply...

nicky - September 2nd, 2014 at 7:11 am

Yes, I think Gionee’s intention with this phone is aimed towards extended usage. Putting in higher specs such as a more powerful CPU, 1080p screen, etc. Would defeat the purpose of having a lot of stored AH a bit.

I found it refreshing that they resisted packing the phone with monster specs on account of having extra battery capacity. I liked that they kept it simple.
Yes, the price is high for the typical quad core phones. Hmm, could be a testament to the build quality. Not that THL or Jiayu has bad build quality (on the contrary, those brands are doing well), but perhaps Gionee has something extra in that aspect to be putting that price on the phone.

For your spec requirements, I’d agree you could go in the direction of the thl 5000.

I believe the phone will be well received if it sells for about 30k when it launches here, or shortly afterwards.

Mention: A chronic liar?? So bcz you can't afford it, it means no Nigerian can afford it ryt?

Anyway...

2gb RAM
64gb ROM
HD Screen
NFC
HDMI port
1.5ghz Dual Core Snapdragon Processor (Its not quad core but u would never experience any lag or slow loading bcz of the optimized bb os 10.2)
You can't even compare my snapdragon processor to the chinko mediatek used on that crap..
The two phones have the same 8mp and 2mp cameras, but quality stands out.. My 8mp camera would beat that of gionee any time any day!!!
The only downside z d battery, but with my ever faithful 10000mah powerbank, I can use my phone for two days without charging...
Next time, don't compare a crap with my machine.. Its an Insult!
Ol'boy, all this grammar/prose isn't necessary. Just show a picture (and, if you're very kind, a video) of you using the phone, or...

Gionee V188 Review Specifications – Huge 5200mAH Battery

Nicky Arriola September 1, 2014 Gionee V188 Review Specifications – Huge 5200mAH Battery
2014-09-01T19:01:59+00:00 China phone review, Gionee, MT6582 3 Comments

Accepting the challenge from 5AH phones such as the THL 5000, Gionee is stepping up to the plate with their V188 featuring a 5200mAH battery comboed with their own developed power saving technology.

The V188 will be featuring a MediaTek SoC, using the MT6582 chipset with a quad-core CPU clocked at 1.3GHz. The GPU is a dual core ARM Mali-400, clocked at 500MHz. It will come with a 1GB RAM capacity and an 8GB ROM. There is no need to worry about the limiting 8GB internal storage size as the V188 can support external microSD cards up to 128GB.

The screen will be an IPS, capacitive, 5.0” multi-touch featuring a 720p x 1280p display resolution. Primary rear camera is 8MP, and it has a secondary cam with 2MP resolution. It will support the usual sensors – GPS, Proximity, etc. and as an added bonus, will be playing host to the recent HotKnot technology.

Network capabilities extend from GSM, 3G (UMTS 850/900/2100; TD-SCDMA 1900/2000) and TD-LTE. Despite the large battery, the form factor will not be much different from its V185 predecessor. The phone’s dimensions settle at 144.5mm x 71.45mm x 10.4mm.

the phone is capable of doubling as a power bank

The battery is incredibly a replaceable 5200mAH Lithium Polymer type. With Gionee’s own tailored power-saving technology in play, data show that standby time can go as high as 700 hrs. Furthermore, the phone is capable of doubling as a power bank, with its OTG reverse charging function.

The V188 will be running Android 4.4.2 and is getting ready to hit the markets with a price tag around $244.

3 Signs That You're Getting Fired

Beth Taylor, a.k.a. UnderCover Waitress, PayScale
Aug 26, 2014

Sometimes, you can just feel the tension in the air. Something is wrong, you don't know what, but it is making everybody uncomfortable. Then you get fired, and feel blindsided. Often, the signs that you were about to be let go were there all along.

"At-will" employees may be let go at any time for almost any or no reason. They may not be fired for illegal reasons, such as race or religion, but outside of civil rights, at-will employees may be told, "Thanks, but we no longer need your services anymore. We will mail you your last check."

Actually, this statement does not always come as a surprise. There are signs that your tenure at your current organization is coming to a close. At LinkedIn, Liz Ryan, the CEO and founder of Human Workplace, discusses a few dynamics that indicate you may be replaced, including:

1. Decrease in Responsibilities

If you are part of a big project and suddenly pulled off, this is a bad sign. If your boss has something bigger or more important going on and needs your help, you may breathe a sigh of relief and put your all into the new assignment. If you are confused as to why you were pulled off of the project, go ahead and ask. Indirect or unclear answers should send a red flag.

Sometimes, it is your own project that suddenly goes cold. Last week, your project was a high priority and this week it is considered an after-thought. Ryan says this usually means the project will be given high priority again after you are replaced.

2. You Suddenly Have Valuable Knowledge

Everybody likes to be asked what they think. It makes people feel important. Plus, mentorship opportunities may benefit both mentors and proteges. Proteges get training and mentors are recognized as valuable teachers and leaders.

However, not all "opportunities" to mentor are for your benefit. When suddenly you are asked to teach another worker the things you do on your job, you may be training your replacement. If everybody needs to dip into your knowledge base, it may because they know you won't be there to ask in another week or two.

3. Conflicts Disappear

This is a sinister one, because a conflict disappearing may seem, at first, as if the conflict were resolved. However, if you don't know how it has been resolved, but everything is fine and dandy, the resolution may be that you're are leaving.

Not all conflicts are personal. There may be disagreements about how to best run the office or arguments about other aspects of business. And healthy discussions in which people put different ideas on the table may get heated. This, in itself, does not mean somebody is going to get fired. But if you don't know why everything is suddenly not a big deal, you may be out.

Have you ever suspected you were about to lose your job? What happened? Leave a comment.

Thanks for the link... But seems the linked file has been removed – at least for the time being. (Error 404.) Plus, I saw an acknowledgement (in a translation into English of one of the pages on the site,) that some might have experienced difficulties using KingRoot. So the author is probably working on an improvement to the software even as we speak.

Good question. I'm sure if the OP knew at the time the original post was made, the price for the 2GB RAM with 16GB ROM version would have been included. Waiting to see that price ASAP - here or elsewhere. (Quite a number of threads ongoing w.r.t. this phone already.) Hmm.
