My 2G and 3G signals just started returning - at about 6:20am...so there's hope. Signal stability/sustainability/data pass through still intermittent, though (Lekki.) Good morning, All. P34c3 |

atlwireles: No matter where he got money, he solved a major political problem. He did not display the political naivety of Fayemi. He saw a liability and, he took care of it. That's why he is winning today.Well said. P34c3 ... |
LordVarys: I tell you this in confidence, at least 10 of the Ekiti HOA members will decamp after Fayose is sworn in in October, its a done deal.Giving the results of the election now coming out of Osun, I seriously doubt this confidence of yours. My own humble take would be that the APC are learning their ground lesson the hard way, and would be foolish not to, for example, orchestrate the suspension of those of their house members in Ekiti who may nurse the ambition to defect, before such members actually get to defect. And that is assuming that there's actual substance to your "scoop," and not you just being sold a PDP propaganda dummy? One of the issues I see with the PDP, President Jonathan, as well as their strategists, is that they tend to show their hands too early in the greater scheme of things. Watching the unfolding scenarios with interest. P34c3 ... |
ProfCorruption: That sums up everything. Omisore has never been a popular politician in Osun. To defeat an incumbent, especially one that has performed creditably, you need more than a show of force. Fayose won Ekiti on his own popularity, his modest record in office and strong grassroots mobilization. The nakednes.s of "we have taken Ekiti" will be out for all to see in 2015 when Fayose's name won't be on ballot paper. An intelligent post, arguably stating the crux of the matter. Let them that have ears, hear. P34c3 |
mjames: Good one. This has helped me for some time now.Glad you're confirming/corroborating this. P34c3 ... |
OkikiOluwa1: Thanks. But your punctuations on ma name is incorrect. It's Òkìkíolúwa (do, do, mi, re, mi, re).Hmm... I take your point; however, to me, the full pronounciation of the second "i," is a drawn out do-mi, or ìí; you just took the liberty to omit the first, and I the second, no? And, BTW, the "Oluwa" in your moniker is written starting with an uppercase letter, and that made me assume it's a second name in and of itself, so my bad for not thinking of how social media is helping to transform names these days... ![]() Whatever your response is, I'll take it as final and in good faith, as I wouldn't want for this thread to be needlessly derailed...I commented in the first place simply because it's not often that I see pronunciations properly written as you have done. Again, well done! P34c3 ... |
OkikiOluwa1: Ogbeni Rauf, bí a ò ti è dìbò, o ti wolé (even if we no vote for you on saturday, you don win)!Your written Yorùbá is excellent, @ÒkìkìOlúwa. Well done. P34c3 |
This is useful info, op @ponana, thanks for posting. - P34c3 |
Dear fellow Nairalanders... Here’s why many people want their BlackBerrys back after switching to iOS and Android MOBILE By Zach Epstein on Jul 23, 2014 at 11:34 AM Email @zacharye Following the release of the original iPhone in 2007 and the subsequent launch of Android, many people with work-issued phones spent years asking for their employers to switch away from BlackBerry smartphones to more modern devices. Finally, as Apple and Google increased their focus on security and BlackBerry hit dire straights a few years ago, workers began getting what that wanted and bring your own device (BYOD) policies became more common. More recently, however, an interesting trend is being observed: Workers want their BlackBerrys back. FROM EARLIER: BlackBerry says its square phone is already stealing back iOS and Android users CIO’s Tom Kaneshige reports on an interesting phenomenon that we’ve heard rumblings of in the past. At companies where employees were permitted to ditch their work-issued BlackBerry phones and bring their own iPhones and Android handsets, they’re now begging their IT departments to move back to BlackBerry. Why? It turns out there are a few reasons. For one thing, there are privacy concerns. When workers use their own iOS and Android devices, IT departments gain access to all of their private data in addition to any corporate apps that might be on the devices. It’s never a good thing when you have to hand over a smartphone packed full of naked selfies so that IT can fix an issue with email not syncing properly. Beyond that, IT professionals Kaneshige spoke with say they are having some serious problems with mobile device management (MDM) software, and the related on-device apps often cause issues like battery drain and device bogging. The full report is an interesting read and it’s linked below in our source section. TAGS:ANDROID, BLACKBERRY, IPHONE Source: http://bgr.com/2014/07/23/blackberry-vs-android-vs-iphone/ P34c3 ... |
initialize: alright, the name of the last device is UMI X2Copied, thanks. P34c3 |
initialize: Thanks for acknowledging my effort.Oh, I knew about the THL 5000 already, and I actually was considering it, so I was surprised you didn't include it in those you listed for me. With respect to my question, I was actually referring to the last phone you had on the list you made for me...or is the brand name simply "Original?" I would like to urgently include it on my short list of "work," which now includes the THL 5k, of course. P34c3 |
initialize: Part 1 is Theory and here's the SolutionJokes apart, @initialize, you've done a great job already, and it's much appreciated. Obviously, you've got my work cut out for me, so I'll work to home in on one or two, then continue with you on WhatsApp/BBM. Now, which brand is that phone you listed last, please? Or is the brand name simply "Original?" I'd like to urgently include it on my short list of "work." ![]() Thanks again. P34c3 ... |

Dear fellow Nairalanders; "NEPA" or "NO NEPA," the following should help: 5 Ways To Improve The Battery Life Of Your Tablet By Matt Smith on 11th August, 2011 | Tablets are becoming a popular mobile device, and their impressive endurance is one of the greatest draws. Most tablets can last eight to ten hours even when displaying mobile video or surfing the web. This is plenty for most users, but there may come a time when you need even more life. These five tips can help you extract every second from your tablet’s battery. 1.Reduce Display Brightness Most tablets are simply hardware strapped to a display, resulting in the characteristic tablet appearance. This provides a large display with minimal weight, but it also means there is a large viewing area to power. As with large smartphones, the display often draws more power than any other component. As such, simply dimming the display will have a positive impact on battery life. While there’s often an automatic brightness feature available, it’s usually less aggressive than needed to provide maximum battery life. Taking control of brightness yourself is often a better option. 2.Turn Off Wireless Radios Tablets do not rely on mobile data quite as much as smartphones, but they still make heavy use of it. Wi-Fi is standard on virtually all tablets, and many also include access to 3G and/or 4G from a major mobile data carrier. These radios suck power, however. A 3G/4G radio can have a negative impact on endurance if used often or if used in areas with a poor signal. The solution is to just turn the radio off. Obviously, disabling 3G/4G will cut of mobile data access unless Wi-Fi is available, but this is a trade-off that will sometimes be worthwhile. Turning of Wi-Fi as well as Bluetooth can further improve life, but the impact won’t be as drastic as turning of 3G/4G. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth radios are built to communicate over shorter ranges and consume less power as a result. 3.Turn Off Background Data If you’d like to have access to mobile data on demand, but also want to cut power draw slightly, you don’t have to turn off the radios. Instead, you can simply turn off background data. Doing this will disable your tablet’s ability to update apps with new information from the Internet automatically. For example, emails will not appear until you specifically open the email app and check for them, and feeds from sites like Facebook won’t be updated until you request it. Turning off background data may greatly improve battery life, or may not impact it noticeably. The improvement will depend on how many apps you have active that use background data as well as the type of mobile data connection you rely on. 4.Turn Off GPS Like a Ninja, GPS can kill your battery before you even know it’s a problem. GPS location data requires communication with satellites orbiting the earth, which are used to determine your exact location. As you can imagine, this isn’t a boon to your battery. Normally, GPS is kept under control and used only in short bursts. However, it can on occasion go a bit out of control, and it’s easy to accidently cause this by opening a navigation or map app that’s using GPS data. Turning off GPS in settings will make location data less accurate, but won’t eliminate it completely, since your tablet will still be able to obtain location data from Wi-Fi and mobile data networks. 5.Monitor App Power Draw If you’ve followed the above steps and your tablet’s battery still isn’t satisfactory, the culprit is probably an app that your tablet is running in the background. Apps are supposed to nicely terminate or suspend themselves when not in active use, but this doesn’t always occur as it should. Fortunately, it’s not difficult to keep tabs on what is making use of your tablet’s battery life. Android tablets will provide you with this information under Settings->Applications->Battery Use. Apple fans can monitor their iPad’s battery with apps such as Activity Monitor. Once you’ve found the app that is consuming your battery it can be terminated or uninstalled. Conclusion – Beyond Conservation All of the tips above will help your tablet’s battery, in some cases providing several additional hours of time away from a power socket. If you’re still not finding that the endurance of your tablet meets your needs, however, consider an extended battery. These are not common, but some do exist, such as New Trent’s 8900mAh external battery which is compatible with most mobile devices. Some docks also provide additional battery life, such as the ASUS Eee Pad Transformer’s keyboard, which extends estimated battery life from 9 to 16 hours. OK, I copy that ^^^ so far, @initialize, thanks. Waiting on your response to "Part 1." P34c3 |
@initialize & All; let me try the following on here first... Please list one or two (so I can have choices) of the LEAST expensive phones with the following specs or better that you can recommend and offer, and for how much to Lekki phase II, and how soon? : 5.0" IPS screen @400ppi or better, 4.4 KitKat, OTG support, & 3G support on both of two sims. That's it. (All other specs can be anything, seriously, because my main criterion is a high quality screen for browsing as necessary, and for ordinary board games such as Sodoku, Freecell, and 2D Chess. For me, I don't need to do serious multitasking or 3D games and stuff like that on the phone.) That's what I'm currently in the market for, so please fire at me - and hopefully others such as yours truly too. [In addition, I'm looking to go - preferably in the same transaction - with the Cube Talk 9x (32GB ROM,) complete with all "condiments" including the keyboard leather case, for hopefully less than 51k, unless you can suggest something even more potent for my =N=?] I'll get off my soapbox now, thanks! P34c3 |
Martin Elechi just sounded the death Nellis on the upcoming jamboree being christened a "National Conference." SMH at the clueless nature of President Jonathan's administration overall. Hmm. P34c3 |

But still, @abubaka, you can't beat the price on offer (everything for free) on Blackmart. So I don't think one should start complaining. Besides, you can search for anything you want on Blackmart. Or, you can locate something on Play Store, then changeover to Blackmart to get it. Also, the initial tab that is always presented by default on Blackmart, is similar to the default tile that's always presented by default on Play Store. You can change to/choose other tabs on Blackmart once it loads. Hope this helps a bit. Good luck. P34c3 |
@OP; I think you've given solid advice here, much appreciated. What I've done (taking a cue from the way you identified & characterized the culprit,) is to just use link2sd to freeze the Media Storage app. This way, I can reverse the process if I link any resulting bad side effects with the freeze strategy. And I think the key for me was that you also articulated what the Media Storage app is all about. P34c3 |
@OP; Don't be lazy...search for, easily locate, then read existing active threads on the matter. That will help you better. P34c3 |
duni04: I'm not a GEJ adherent but this idea of digging up old newspaper clippings to discredit somebody is just lame. The guy was answering questions from reporters, and not testifying before a court or the senate. You can't equate someone changing his mind about his political ambitions to treachery or dishonesty, its just lame. While campaigning for president, George W. Bush Snr famously promised not to increase taxes and did immediately he got in. Obama promised to close the guantanemo bay while campaigning in 2008, its still open today. As long as Jonathan's statement was not made before a court of law or the senate, like in the case of Bill Clinton who lied to a US grand jury about his affair with Monica lewinsky, nobody can accuse Jonathan of anything. He's a human being, he has the right to change his mind as he deems fit. This is a self-serving, idiotic post. In a few words: You can't say a sane man has the right to change his mind in a whim, and then turn around to say others don't have the right to call him out on it. Remember, the man denied recently - after being silent when asked over the past several months - that he "did NOT tell anyone I was not going to contest in 2015"? You can't call a man what he is not. Credible this president clearly is not. Clinton became not Credible, alright, but he was smart enough to have been able to humble himself successfully through the resulting congressional hearings. Plus, Clinton had turned around the US economy from an inherited deep recession; he also maintained that gain, which he handed over to Dubya Bush, and which economic prosperity Dubya then went on to squander! Jonathan should not be mentioned in the same sentence as Clinton. No even with Dubya, to be quite honest. P34c3 |
bimbor: After downloading, I couldn't use the app, it's telling me I'm not licensed and then it shows a button to buy the app. Is there a way around this?Hmm... I think that particular upload has been blacklisted then. You may have to look/search elsewhere for a good, working copy, or a kind soul could give a link to a working one. I don't have any, sorry.
