Politics › Re: Analysis 2015:Mr. Jonathan Is Guaranteed 25%(24states),but NOT VICTORY by duwdu: 3:13pm On Dec 29, 2014
LOIUSXIV:
In 2011,Mr. Jonathan comfortably had 25% in 31states.but what's the relevance of 25%(24states) if the 1st and overRiding requirement, 'MAJORITY OF THE VOTES' is not met?it is important to note that 25% is not a MUST unlike 'MAJORITY'or technically, 'plurality'.so much emphasis is being placed on '25%'and for the PDP that's dangerous.for once, 2011 is not 2015.a lot has changed.the worry for both PDP and APC should be turnout of their supporters.that's where the difference would be made.
Delta, Rivers,Imo,Lagos, are some states Mr .JONATHAN got more than 1million plus votes.with the exception of lagos.dejavu is inevitable.Jonathan's margins were also huge in YORUBA STATES except OSUN.APC does not have the national spread of the PDP but it does not need it.knowing PDP HAS MORE WAYS TO maneuver through the Constitutional requirements,APC would be more concerned about denying the Incumbent, 'MAJORITY' IN THE FIRST BALLOT.then '25%', becomes useless.APC candidate Mr.Buhari got 25% IN 16 STATES in 2011,all in the North.in 2015,VALENTINE'S DAY, He's guarateed 25% in seven Southern states, even in ONDO AND EKITI states where PDP governors hold sway.in AMAECHI'S Rivers,Mr. Jonathan's 2011 margin would shrink but not by much.its more difficult for Mr. BUHARI TO Meet the 25% requirement than Mr. Jonathan. 16+7=23,NOT 24.MR.BUHARI'S hope is then a majority in the first ballot.anything short of that is defeat.
Much has been made about the NORTH-WEST&SOUTH-WEST electoral bank but the significance of Boko haram-ravaged North-East is more important for the APC as APC MIGHT BE VICTORS IN YORUBA STATES though by slim margins(EXCEPT osun) which does not bode well for the 'majority'calculations.a low turn out in the north-east region would spell doom if APC HOPES TO NEUTRALISE Mr Jonathan's advantage in North -Central.neither APC nor PDP is sure of huge victory in ONDO or EKITI.Mimiko's influence would count in ONDO but it would be by a tiny margin. for the APC, The battle for 'MAJORITY' IN THE FIRST BALLOT, OR PLURALITY is then a do or die thing as its the only path for victory.APC's strategists have a huge task in convincing north-east BUHARI FANS to shun the fear of boko-haram attacks and come out to vote. how Mr. BUHARI'S reverrence and cult- figure status would allay such fears would manifest on Valentine's day.
Having been able to see past the poor writing style/prose used by the OP, I think the original post is actually a very intelligent piece of work.

Well done, OP @LOIUSXIV.

(I have quoted it [the original post] verbatim so it should be easy for me to make a reference to it in the future - if necessary.)

Politics › Re: GEJ Will Lose 2015 Elections...on Ground Facts! by duwdu: 2:00pm On Dec 19, 2014
shachris03:
There is no single PDP state that is happy with the just concluded primaries. PDP is now practising selection instead of election.
Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso alluded to the bolded a couple of weeks ago already, in fact. Kwankwaso explained then that it appeared the PDP had abandoned the party's traditional ways that was assuring wins during elections, i.e., that the PDP now practices selection rather than election; that it was the party's previous practice of true internal democracy that would normally encourage the party's contending candidates to get out there and campaign and win votes for themselves - and by extension, the PDP.

Kwankwaso then went on to add, that the table has now turned, that it's now his (Kwankwaso) new party - the APC - that now practices true internal democracy, and is making the party's contending candidates to go out there, campaign, and get votes for themselves - and by extension, the APC. And that he believes this model would almost guarantee success for the APC during the coming elections.

I think that, depending on how far true and imbibed in the APC Kwankwaso's analysis is, he's probably on the right track in his expectations of an overall victory at the polls for the APC.

We shall see.

Politics › Re: Comprehensive Results Of Apc Presidential Primaries by duwdu: 7:38pm On Dec 11, 2014
KwoiZabo:
Buhari couldn't even get 50% of the votes so how can he win the presidential elections. This is why PDP said APC does not have a presidntial candidate.
Sorry, but you have a poor sense of arithmetic. Buhari actually received 57% of the total votes cast. And, considering that the two next big fish (Atiku and Kwankwaso) are both from the same region as him, Buhari - and those that worked for his victory - really shone at this primary.

Having said all that, the entirety of the APC party machinery - including those that lost at this primary, will have to have the same focused hands on deck from now on, in order for the APC to stand a good chance of wresting power from the PDP at the center in the 2015 general elections.

Politics › Re: Christopher Kolade: Jonathan Not A Good Leader by duwdu: 12:43pm On Dec 05, 2014
LogicPower:
Every enlightened, honest and unbiased local and international observer of what's happening in Nigeria would reach the same conclusions as this seasoned and respected diplomat, and that is, GEJ does not show enough concern, talk less of the right leadership, in his handling of the terrorist attacks by BH.

Even when such attacks claimed the lives of hundreds of innocent citizens of the country he is supposed to be leading, the impression he has been giving to Nigerians and the world at large is that of an unconcerned, cold-hearted, irresponsive or even irresponsible figure-head.

No wonder he had to defend himself earlier this week in Kano, through his VP, that he (JEG) and his government were not behind the BH killings in the North! This rather strange defence by the president must have come after he had realized how more and more Northerners, both Muslims and Christians, are becoming more vocal in their exasperation at the government's inability to protect them against the brutalities of the BH savages; and their frustration is increasingly turning into suspicion that the GEJ's government, or at least some elements within it who harbour an undying pent-up desire for vengeance against the Northern Muslims and Christians alike (for some historical reasons), are using their positions in the government 'to allow the Notrh to bleed too'.

Although there might not be any truth in all such allegations, yet it is a fact that GEJ's ineptitude and lack of purposeful and committed leadership during, and in the aftermath of, the killings in the North, has clearly created a huge leadership vacuum and divided this country like never before, as a result of which the fertile ground was prepared for all these dangerous suspicions emanating from the North.
Very well said, @LogicPower. Kudos.

(I just had to quote the post in full in order to preserve it on my own side.)

The Prof is kinda always down-to-earth. One of the parts that got me rocking in the interviews goes:

MudRaker:
Story.

Buhari will weep more come 2015.

His supporters will turn against the Yorubas for not giving him the mandate in the APC.

Atiku will emerge the APC flag bearer, and will lose to Jonathan.

Meanwhile, Buhari will go to court to challenge the emergence of Atiku before the election.

The verdict will come 3 mths after the election and the court will rule that Buhari ought to have gotten the APC nomination.

Atiku will then concede his defeat to Jonathan and hand his loser card to Buhari.

Buhari will thus lose the election without even contesting it.

Amaechi ruling in reverse. grin grin grin
