Some aggrieved Muslim youths recently took to the streets of Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, to demonstrate their displeasure with famous singer, Davido who posted a video clip offensive to Islam on his Twitter page.

Davido came under heavy criticisms after sharing a clip of the music video of his signee, Logos Olori’s new single ‘Jaye Lo’

A 45-second clip of the new video posted Friday on Instagram by Davido has since got tongues wagging.

Many Muslim devotees have labelled the video offensive and are now calling for a retraction while also threatening the artistes with a lawsuit.

The controversial scene featured some men depicting praying Mallams seen dancing in front of a mosque instead of praying. This dancing act has since been deemed offensive by some Muslim devotees.

Many prominent Nigerian Muslims including former aide to ex-president Muhammadu Buhari, Bashir Ahmad, Senator Shehu Sani, actor, Ali Nuhi, asked Davido to take down the video and apologise to Muslims for “disrespecting” their religion.

After initially ignoring the criticisms, the DMW boss finally lifted the “offensive” video from his page on Sunday.

The singer eventually bowed to pressure after 48 hours and deleted the controversial video.

Reacting to the development, former President Muhammadu Buhari’s aide, Bashir Ahmad, hailed the singer for removing the video.

He wrote on Twitter, “It is good to discover that Davido deleted that offensive and hurtful video.

“Hopefully, the entire scene will also be deleted from the actual footage before releasing it to the market, and we humbly urge that the same grave mistake should never happen again from him or anyone else.

“Nigeria is a beautiful country. It is always amazing when we celebrate the beauty of living in unity and harmony while embracing our differences.”

However, Davido did not apologise for his action.

Angered by his arrogance, some Muslim youths in Maiduguri took to the street setting a large banner of the singer on fire.

In a video making the rounds on social media, the youths were captured publicly setting Davido’s picture ablaze.

In an interview with the renowned media personality, Chude Jideonwo, Mercy Eke has shared a revelation about her past.

Mercy, with her trademark confidence, disclosed that her life almost took a tragic turn while she was still in her mother's womb.

Eke said: “When she my mother was pregnant, there is this aunty of mine…my mother has already had five children then this last one which is me.

“She has four girls and one boy. So, when that my aunty came, she was like, ‘Ah! Emilia, is this another pregnancy? With all these children you’ve dumped here.’

“So, that thing messed with her my mother mental health. It really messed with her that she wanted to like get me out then. She was going to the farm, she would climb something you would fall so that I will go but me I stubborn na. I no go anywhere. I dey gidigba.

The reality star said her mum recently narrated the story to her.

She said: “One day, my mother was like she wish that person was alive to see what that girl that she wanted to abort that time has grown to become. Yeah, that was how she told me the story.

“She is happy with me. She is happy that she didn’t remove me or abort me. She is happy that I didn’t die. And she is happy she gave birth to me like she took that risk even without anything. Because now, my mother is one of the happiest people. My mother is just sleeping. She is enjoying life. She wake up, eats what she wants to eat. So, now she is happy”, she concluded.

People use the word "relationship" so much these days that it's often assumed to have one universal definition. In reality, though, the word encompasses such a massive variety of kinds of human connections, both romantic and nonromantic, and no two people likely share the same understanding of what defines a relationship. So, here's a cheat sheet of the basics.

TYPES OF ROMANTIC RELATIONSHIPS.
There are many different relationship labels people use to define their relationship with themselves and others, but below are a few of the main basic types of romantic relationships:

1. Situationship

A situationship is a romantic relationship that hasn't been explicitly defined, usually by omission. The relationship may have many of the same qualities as a committed relationship, a casual relationship, or dating, but the people involved have simply not put labels on it-usually intentionally, whether that's to avoid making things too complicated, because they're still figuring out what they want from each other, or because they're too afraid to bring up the "DTR talk" (aka a conversation defining the relationship).

Generally speaking, situationships usually have more. emotional involvement than a friends-with-benefits scenario but not the explicit romantic feelings and commitment of a committed relationship.

2. Ethical nonmonogamy

Ethical nonmonogamy is a broad umbrella term for any relationship where people can have multiple romantic and sexual partners at the same time. It includes polyamory, open relationships, relationship anarchy, and many other types of relationships between more than two people.

Ethically non-monogamous relationships can be casual, committed, open, exclusive, dating-only, sex-only, or some combination of these categories, and people in these relationships may or may not use terms like boyfriend, girlfriend, or partner to describe each other.

3.Casual relationship

A casual relationship is a relationship where two or more people may be dating, regularly spending time together, and engaging in romantic or sexual activities but without any expectations for the relationship to last into the future. These types of relationships are usually more situational and short-term, and they may or may not be exclusive.

People in casual relationships usually do like each other and are attracted to each other, though there may not be an intense emotional connection or desire to deepen the connection.

Whereas people in committed relationships may see each other as life partners, people in casual relationships may not be as integrated into each other's lives. They typically won't use terms like boyfriend, girlfriend, or partner.

This soup is a modified ogbono or okro soup of the Ijaw people. Aside from the fact that this food takes little time to prepare, it is not cooked on fire at all. The only thing you need from the fire is your boiled water. You would just need to stir your ogbono, okro, pepper and other ingredients (raw like that) in hot water, and you are good to go.

The highly anticipated Barbie debuted to strong reviews (it has a 90% critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes), with many reviewers singling out the feminist themes as a highlight, but some critics have called out Barbie’s feminist angle as “woke” and criticize what they say is a “man-hating” portrayal of Ryan Gosling’s Ken.

Though over 300,000 Barbies were reportedly sold in its very first year of production, the doll has found itself in the midst of controversies since its very birth. Several mothers found the doll too sexual when it launched, as early as 1963.

While the details of the storyline have been kept under wraps, what we do know for sure is that the movie will show Barbie going through an existential crisis, leaving the utopian Barbie Land and taking a trip to the real world with her boyfriend Ken.

Thus far, the film has already garnered attention for a number of reasons, from its ambitious set-design, to a scene featuring a map reflecting China’s claim over the whole of the South China Sea – something which got the film banned in Vietnam.

Far-right media figure Jack Posobiec called Barbie a “man-hating Woke propaganda fest,” criticizing the film for portraying the Kens as less intelligent than the Barbies and for its themes about rising up against the patriarchy.

Conservative commentator Ben Shapiro struck a predictably similar tone, tweeting: “All you need to know about #BarbieTheMovie is that it unironically uses the word ‘patriarchy’ more than ten times,” urging his followers to leave negative reviews for Barbie if polled by CinemaScore, a market research firm that asks audience members on opening night to give a film a letter grade between A and F.

In a Fox News segment, conservative author Peachy Kennan called the film an “insidious packaging of feminist cliché and trans grooming,” criticizing the casting of transgender actress Hari Nef as one of the Barbies.

Some on social media mocked conservatives who criticized Barbie for being“woke.” One user tweeted: “Did they want Barbie to promote being a stay-at-home wife and homeschooling children or whatever? Barbie’s whole thing is she could do any job men could do lol, she has never been ‘antiwoke,’” with more than 100,000 people liking the tweet.

Podcast host and MSNBC analyst Brittany Packnett Cunningham tweeted she didn’t have plans to see Barbie in theaters, but after she saw the anti-woke backlash, she said: “nah lemme head to the theater.”

Nigerian singer Olawale Olofooro, popularly known as Brymo has revealed that he turned down a feature request from Simi because she refused to sleep with him.

Brymo made the revelation in a reply to a fan who suggested that he should be featured on Adekunle Gold’s upcoming album, “Tequila Ever After.” Brymo said that he had previously turned down features from both Adekunle Gold and Simi, and that he had declined to work with Simi specifically because she refused to “get intimate” with him.

In a voice note he released on his Twitter account on Friday, Brymo said a part of him wants to feel remorseful about the condition he gave Simi even though he didn’t know she was with Adekunle Gold at the time.

The singer further revealed that he gave Ghanaian singer, Efya, same condition and all he wanted was to experience what it feels like to make music with someone he’s had sexual relations with.

Sharing the voice note, the 37-year-old wrote, “There is a part of me that wants to feel remorse for my requirement for a collaboration with the talented Simi.. yet I am reminded that I was indeed, and honestly seeking to experience the outcome of making music with a female act I was bedding. I proposed same to Efya too then..,” he wrote.

The Nigerian Police Force (NPF) has recalled the Police Mobile Force (PMF) officers who were previously assigned to notable individuals, such as Mrs Aisha Buhari, the wife of former President Muhammadu Buhari, and his brother, Mallam Mamman Daura.

The withdrawal also includes the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, and a former Senate President, Iyorchia Ayu.

This directive was conveyed through a Police Wireless Message.

Authorities explain that this action is part of an ongoing evaluation and restructuring of security details within the Nigerian Police Force.

The objective is to optimize the deployment of police personnel and ensure the effective utilization of resources in response to the current security challenges in the country.

It is important to note that the withdrawal of PMF officers from these high-profile individuals does not signify any specific threat or security breach.

Rather, it aligns with the broader goal of streamlining security arrangements to address the changing security needs of the nation.

While the affected individuals will no longer have exclusive PMF personnel assigned to their protection, it should be emphasized that they will still benefit from other security measures provided by relevant agencies.

What will this mean for Buhari🧐

Nigerians woke up to be greeted with a new pump price of Premium Motor Spirit popularly called petrol.

President Bola Tinubu had, in his inaugural address on 29 May, announced the removal of fuel subsidy.

Following the announcement, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) directed its outlets nationwide to sell fuel between N480 and N570 per litre, an almost 200 per cent increase from the initial price below N200.

Petroleum pump price rose to N617 per litre at various outlets,the adjustments were spotted in some filling stations Abuja on Tuesday, July 17, 2023, and it is expected the new prices will be implemented across the country.


Punch reports that the decision by NNPCL to adjust its prices is an indication of a rise in the pump price of PMS. This is because NNPCL is still the major importer of petrol into Nigeria currently, though other marketers are gradually importing the commodity.

The national oil company has not given any reason for the latest price increase following the deregulation of the downstream sector of the Nigerian oil and gas industry.

But checks by Vanguard indicated that each operator is allowed to change price based on its cost elements, under the present deregulation.

It also showed that the dwindling value of the Naira has put pressure on fuel importers, including the NNPC Limited as well as major and independent marketers.

Meanwhile, checks by Vanguard indicated that many motorists and others have rushed to buy petrol as the price hike begins to spread to other cities, including Lagos and environs, where some filling stations have adjusted their pumps to over N600 per litre.

In 2021, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arrested Killaboi in a hotel in Umuahia, Abia State, for conducting a N150 million POS transaction using a stolen card.

Two years after his arrest, Killaboi took to social media on Monday, July 17, 2023, to make a shocking confession that he killed his girlfriend, Augusta Osedion.

He admitted to the murder and said he would die for killing the young woman.

Eyewitnesses claim that the police, who gained access to Killaboi’s apartment through the fence, discovered Augusta’s mutilated corpse.

There were allegations that her vital organs were missing, amd her car was found at the scene.

In response to accusations of mutilating his girlfriend’s body, Killaboi denied the claims after being accused of using sports and crypto trades as a cover for alleged fetish practices.

Augusta had been missing for several days until her mother visited Killaboi’s residence in Oral Estate, Ikota, Lagos state, in search of her. Prior to Augusta’s disappearance, her mother had attempted to reconcile her with Killaboi over an unresolved issue.

In the Instastory posts, Killaboi expressed remorse for ruining his life at the age of 26. He pledged to ensure that his late girlfriend receives justice as he cannot live with the guilt.

The young man admitted to fleeing after committing the crime out of fear. He also shared a message he sent to Augusta’s mother.

In his confession, He wrote; “I got into an argument with my girlfriend @austa xxo which fight i mistakenly stabbed her and ran away out of fear and been suicidal since then. I want intend to end my life now cause I have lost the one o cherish so much I want to do the right thing and turn myself in. I will gladly die by paying with my life now.”

“I have failed myself, I have failed my mom, I have failed my family. Oh lorddddd I can’t believe this. I can’t leave with this guilt, I’m going crazy, nothing to kind again and I will say nothing but the truth all from the beginning to what brought us here.”

I should have left this toxic relationship but I didn’t, Oh lord forgive me for my sins, I wish I can go back In time and undo this but it has happened. Following the president's directive on June 14, 2023, Nigeria's central bank removed its skewed foreign exchange rate, which made the naira to dollar rate jump from 435 to 778.

The action can be tagged as the "right and appropriate" step of unifying the Naira currency rate and removing the subsidy on Premium Motor Spirit (PMS). These policy changes, which are timely and suitable, will unlock vast potential for investment, jobs, and capital flows, boosting investor confidence in the Nigerian economy.

Over the years, what we had was a pegged naira, which means CBN had pegged against other currencies across the world, and these have caused many disputes between the black market and CBN rates, but that has changed, and you might wonder what this will do for average Nigerians.

REDUCES MANIPULATION
This new policy will help to reduce the power of the BDC (Bureau De Change) to manipulate the market as well as close the huge gap between the selling price and the buying price. It will decrease the likelihood of round- tripping and other harsh practices.

The problem is that we are too settled. If every Christian took gospel seriously like Paul did we would have lots of converts.
Then again we cannot act aside the will of God, except he gives you the go ahead it can be a risky move. But I am convinced that God would give the go ahead to a Christian if he genuinely asks God that he wants to preach the gospel to the unreached places

President Bola Tinubu had, in a request to the National Assembly, indicated the intention to cater for the welfare of the vulnerable and poor households in Nigeria under the National Safety Net Programme of the Federal Government.

Tinubu said that under the plan, N8,000 would be transferred digitally, monthly, to the accounts of 12 million poor and low-income households for six months.

Shehu Sani, a former Kaduna Central Senator, has warned Nigerians over the N8,000 palliative from President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Tweeting, Sani wrote: “People who collected Buhari’s ‘jazzed’ 10k ended up in deeper poverty. Pray before you collect the next 8k.”
