Celebrity crossdresser, Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky has said the gay wedding suspects arrested in Delta State a couple days ago, deserve their arrests.

LEADERSHIP reports that no fewer than 67 suspected gays were arrested at the venue of a gay wedding in Delta state and the state police command vowed to prosecute all suspects arrested.

Taking to his Instagram page, Bobrisky described the incident as “the dumbest news” and criticized the arrested suspects, stating that they deserved the treatment they received.

He wrote, “Hey guys! I want to quickly address those set of guys who were arrested in Delta. Firstly, there’s a law passed against you guys that you can’t marry yourself in this country. Why the hell did you all call yourself together to organize a wedding? You all deserve how you all were treated. Sad truth”

Bobrisky urged gay people in Nigeria to relocate to where they are welcomed “if you feel you are in love with your partner and want to be together.”

A major operation by the Delta State Police Command led to the apprehension of over 100 individuals suspected of being involved in an alleged gay wedding ceremony. The organisers of Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) All-Stars will no longer use a jury for evictions on the reality show, TheCable Lifestyle can report.

In the past three weeks, the fate of Kiddwaya, Princess and Uriel Oputa had been in the hands of the BBNaija jury, which consists of former housemates.

Saskay, Elozonam, and Vee were the jury who sent Kiddwaya packing from the All-Stars house last Sunday.

On August 13, Uriel was evicted from the reality show by Laycon, Teddy A, and Diana, while Bisola, Mike Edwards, and Dorathy, decided the fate of Princess a week earlier.

The jury system of eviction has sparked a chorus of condemnation among BBNaija fans, some of whom alleged bias.

Rachel, the sister of the late Rebecca Ikumelo, has slammed popular musician, Asake for a tribute made to the deceased during his Sunday concert in London.

Rebecca and a security guard, Gabrielle Hutchinson, both died after sustaining injuries during a crowd surge at a show held by Asake in December 2022.

On Sunday, Asake held another concert in the city and paid tribute to his deceased fans before commencing his performance. At the show, he displayed pictures and videos of Ikumelo and Hutchinson. He also urged anyone with information about the incident to contact the police.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter to express her displeasure, Rachael, @Rachaeliku tagged the tribute as a “sorry excuse”.

According to her, the singer was yet to speak with their family since the incident happened.

She wrote, “What a sorry excuse of a ‘tribute’ from @asakemusik. My sister lost her life at your show and you haven’t spoken to a single member of my family since. But you can hold another concert in London less than 9 months later and play her videos as a ‘tribute’? RIP Rebecca Ikumelo”.

After the tragic incident, Asake had issued a statement to express his condolences to the family.

“I am devastated by the news that Rebecca Ikumelo, who was in critical condition since Thursday, has sadly passed away.

“My sincerest condolences to her loved ones at this time. Let us please keep her family in our prayers. I have spoken to them, and will continue to do so,” he said in the release.

When Twitter users pointed out to Rachael that the singer had, according to his statement, reached out to her family, she clarified that Asake did not seek her family’s consent before sharing videos of Rebecca.

“My point is, he should not be using her videos or giving a ‘tribute’ without speaking to my family beforehand for consent. I hope you’re getting paid to ride for Asake like this,” she wrote.

The Senate's whirlwind of ministerial screening has dominated the space, and even before this, there was a heated discussion about who should be included or eliminated from the list before the nominations were screened

One person that the screening didn't go down well with is the former Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir Ahmad El- Rufai. He was confronted with so many petitions and protests by some groups. Since the history of ministerial screenings in Nigeria, there has been no nominee that has attracted a greater deluge of petitions than that of el- Rufai, whose eight years in power as governor left trails of fierce discord along religious and ethnic lines.

It was obvious that the plot to stop the former governor was strategically mapped out to ensure he was caught unawares throughout the process. Immediately after the allegations were released, the Senate quickly told him and others who were denied confirmation to await security clearance for yet another possible appearance before the Senate.

Although there have been reports on some social media sites that the former governor rejected the ministerial position offered to him, how can a man reject a position that has been denied to him?
