Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, who is supporting President Bola Tinubu in the ongoing dispute over the presidential election, acknowledged that the $460,000 that the Nigerian leader surrendered to the United States originated from involvement in narcotics business and money laundering.

Mr. Bamidele, a politician from Ekiti and a close associate of Mr. Tinubu, testified against Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the opposition Labour Party, at the election petitions tribunal in Abuja. During cross-examination by Mr. Obi's lawyers, Mr. Bamidele admitted that Mr. Tinubu had indeed forfeited more than $460,000 earned through illegal drug activities. This forfeiture case took place in the United States during the 1990s when Mr. Tinubu resided in Chicago. Despite this being a prominent issue leading up to the presidential election on February 25, the politician had refrained from addressing the matter for several years.

Livy Uzoukwu, a senior lawyer representing Mr. Obi, inquired whether Mr. Bamidele was aware of the connection between the forfeiture and narcotics dealing, to which he responded affirmatively. He also acknowledged his understanding that money laundering was involved in Mr. Tinubu's case before the final forfeiture.

Mr. Bamidele, who recently assumed the position of majority leader in the Nigerian Senate, appears to be the most prominent associate of Mr. Tinubu to confirm the forfeiture and the involvement of narcotics in the background of the former Lagos governor. Mr. Tinubu was inaugurated as Nigeria's president on May 29, following his controversial declaration as the winner of the February presidential election by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.....

President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) have ended their defence in the petition by Atiku Abubakar and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) before the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC).
Tinubu’s lawyer Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN) was the first to announce the closure of his client case after the sole witness, Senate Majority Leader, Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele concluded his testimony.

Lawyer to the APC Lateef Fagbemi (SAN) said his client was satisfied that it has effectively made its case and need not call any witness.

He subsequently announced the closure of his client’s case.

I am of the notion that there is no specific definition of love. I believe that love is defined according to the people involved and the genuineness of their feelings for each other. Though, this is not to say that love doesn't have some basic, standard rules guiding it on which the hearts involved form their definition and discover the significance of their other half's presence in their life.

Falling in Love

There are rules to this concept. The heart wants what it wants regardless of the reasonable resistance or logical hesitancy of the individual. When emotions are true, and passion is potently overwhelming, love is just a teensy weensy step away from being confessed.

No one is ever prepared for love. No matter how much we all want to experience love, to have the fairytale life we've always dreamed of with that special person, we still are never ready for the explosive emotions that bombs our mind and causes a marathon in our heart. We are never prepared for the pulse-sprinting, mind-boggling, brain- scrambling, and heart-throbbing emotions we are suddenly sloshed with. Love is never practised or learned.

It is not an emotion we can scientifically explain. Love is not an experiment we can go all Albert Einstein on. It is a free-flowing, naturally occurring feeling that always manages to blow our minds and leave us breathless.

A lawyer named Johnmary Maduakolam has issued a threat to sue the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, and the Board's management if they fail to apologize to Mmesoma Ejikeme, an Anambra pupil who was accused by JAMB of manually inflating her 2023 UTME result. In a letter addressed to Oloyede, the lawyer emphasized that Mmesoma was incapable of forging her own results and criticized JAMB for not protecting the girl's identity.

Identifying himself as Chief Johnmary Akachukwu Maduakolam, a legal practitioner and the President of Johnmary Akachukwu Maduakolam Initiative for Education, the lawyer expressed shock at the circular issued by JAMB, which accused Mmesoma Ejikeme, a minor and student of Anglican Girls Secondary School Nnewi, of faking JAMB scores to gain the attention of philanthropists. The lawyer argued that JAMB, under Oloyede's leadership, defamed the girl, subjected her to public humiliation, and failed to fulfill its obligations under the Child's Right Act.

According to reports, JAMB claimed that Ejikeme manually increased her UTME result from 249 to 362 and used the inflated score to secure a N3m scholarship from Innoson Motors, which was to be awarded by the Anambra state government before the incident came to light. In the lawyer's letter, he pointed out that information in the media suggested that JAMB, not the girl, might be responsible for issuing fake results. Even if the girl had forged her results, the lawyer asserted that the law provided her with certain protections as a child.

Maduakolam requested that Oloyede immediately retract the malicious publication against the girl, issue an unreserved apology, and take prompt action to alleviate the trauma caused by JAMB's conduct. He warned that if these demands were not met, he would file a lawsuit against Oloyede, and the costs would be borne by the JAMB Registrar. The lawyer's letter sought to advocate for the welfare of the child and hold JAMB accountable for its actions.

President Bola Tinubu, on Tuesday, tendered 17 sets of exhibits in evidence to defend his eligibility to contest the presidential election that was held on February 25.

Tinubu, who maintained that he is the bonafide winner of the presidential contest, through his team of lawyers led by Chief Wole Olanipekun, SAN, tendered from the Bar, certified copies of bundles of documentary evidence before the Presidential Election Petition Court, PEPC, sitting in Abuja.

He adduced the evidence to defend the petition the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, filed to nullify his election victory.

Mr Olanipekun, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), presented academic records from the Chicago State University, where Mr Tinubu graduated.

The screening committee of the Alliance for Democracy has written to the Nigeria Police Force Headquarters, requesting confirmation of any criminal record of conviction to date against Governor Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the United States of America,” Mr Balogun’s letter dated 3 February 2003 read in part.

In a reply to the police’s enquiry, the American Consulate in Lagos said the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI), National Crimes Information Centre (NCIC) ran a check on Mr Tinubu.

In the reply dated 4 February 2003, a legal attache at the U.S. Consulate, Michael H. Bonner, disclosed, “The results of the checks were negative for any criminal arrest records, wants, or warrants for Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”

In furtherance of his quest to debunk allegations of fraud against Mr Tinubu, Mr Olanipekun tendered the immigration documents of Mr Tinubu’s trips to the U.S. between 2011 and 2021.

He said the documents were certified by the Nigerian Immigration Service.

The lawyer also presented the final results of the presidential election, which declared Mr Tinubu president-elect on 1 March.

After tendering tons of documentary evidence, Mr Olanipekun told the five-member panel of the court headed by Haruna Tsammani that a “documentary foundation” had been laid for Mr Tinubu’s case.

"We will continue with oral evidence tomorrow by calling witnesses,” Mr Olanipekun said.

After admitting the documents in evidence, the court adjourned further hearing until Wednesday.

Elon Musk wants people to stop being so addicted to Twitter, and the billionaire has continued to implement new rules and measures, most of them quite controversial and disliked by users.

In addition to the controversial change of having to pay to be verified (unless you have more than one million followers) and the massive layoffs in the company, there is now a new rule: limiting the number of tweets a user can read per day.

Musk - who took over Twitter in October 2022 had said previously that he was not happy about artificial intelligence (AI) firms using Twitter's data to train their large language models.

Changes to the platform at the weekend saw it impose an initial 600-tweet limit for unverified Twitter users who are not paying for a subscription to the platform, but Mr Musk said this had increased to 1,000 on Saturday evening.

He has not yet provided an update on whether the limits will remain in place.

Musk has had to change the final number up to three times due to fierce criticism from his users. He broke down the number of tweets that users can see each day depending on whether they are verified or not in his initial monologue.

"Verified accounts were first limited to reading 6,000 posts per day, then 8,000 and finally 10,000. Unverified accounts, 600 posts/day then 800 to drop to 1000. New unverified accounts, 300/day, then 400 and finally settling at 500," he added.

Many users are already having trouble using the app as a result of the changes.

"Sorry, you have reached your rate limit. Wait a few seconds and try again", or "Something went wrong. Try reloading" were some of the messages they received...

Rioters rammed a car into the home of a mayor in southern Paris before setting it on fire while his wife and children were sleeping.

Protesters chased Melanie Nowak and her two children behind the house and into the garden as the family tried to escape, in the latest example of fierce violence gripping France.

The mother suffered a serious leg fracture after trying to push her children over the wall that separates her garden from her neighbour’s backyard and was recovering in hospital on Sunday morning. One of the children was also injured.

Vincent Jeanbrun, the mayor of L’Haÿ-les-Roses, a suburb south of Paris, said the attack on his family was an “assassination attempt”.

- because people are lazy/complacent and believe that, since they are married to that person, they dont need to woo them any longer
- because after marriage, your life perspective change and so do you. so people grow together and evolve together, and become one.
- but most importantly, you are not suppose to have that spark for 50yrs... IMHO 5yrs top and then that spark turns into an unbreakable bond (that will outgrow any spark).
