JeSoul:@^^^ Subscribed to that . . . @LoveKing No. Ruth and Naomi weren't lesbians . . . Bishop TD Jakes teaching got twisted by the carnal minded Elisha said exactly the same words to Elijah not once but twice And Elijah said unto Elisha, Tarry here, I pray thee; for the LORD hath sent me to Bethel. And Elisha said [unto him, As] the LORD liveth, and [as] thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. So they went down to Bethel. - 2 Kings 2:2 And Elijah said to him, Elisha, tarry here, I pray you; for the LORD has sent me to Jericho. And he said, As the LORD lives, and as your soul lives, I will not leave you. So they came to Jericho. - 2 Kings 2:4 but anyways in color, black and white, here are some excerpts of this particular teaching by Bishop TD Jakes: Nothing Just Happens Bishop T.D. Jakes Woman, Thou Art Loosed Conference 2001 "Three women - Naomi, who is the older woman, and Ruth, who was her daughter-in-law, and Orpah, who was her other daughter-in-law. Three women who's commonality was pain. Pain is a strange company keeper. It brings the oddest people together. There is a secret fraternity that exists amongst those who have been in pain that is mind-boggling. It transcends the color of your skin. It transcends your background. When you have been through certain things, you feel for other people who have been through those things, because you relate to them. I personally don't like to have a whole lot to do with people who have not been through pain. It's nothing against them, I'm not jealous of them, I just can't relate to them. I can't relate to them and I am sure that they will not be able to relate to me. The parts of me that I need to have known, that I need to have touched, that I need to have fellowship, are tied up not in the successes of my life, but in the struggles of my life. For God has done more through my struggles. He's done more through my struggles then he's ever done through my successes. And if you look carefully at my successes, my successes are made out of the ingredients of my struggles. And you can never know my successes until you understand my struggles, because my struggles are the pathway that led me into my success. Are you hearing what I'm saying? And so if you are going to have fellowship with somebody, you have to choose your friends and make sure that they have had something to die in their life. If you've never had anything to die in your life, you have the kind of optimism that is annoying. If you've never had anything to go wrong in your life, I don't like to hear you preach, it aggravates me, it gets on my nerves because your preaching has not been balanced by failure. If you've never had anything to die in your life don't counsel me, because you really don't understand me because you don't know why I am like I am until you've been where I've been. If you've never had anything to die in your life don't sit there and tell me be a man, take it, don't cry. You don't know what I'm taking, you don't know what I'm enduring, you don't understand. Just because you read some books and took a psych class doesn't mean that you are ready to deal with the issues of my life. There is something about going through death and loss and pain and misfortune and adversity. There is something about going through things that don't seem fair to you. That once you go through them you need to make sense of the madness in your life since you can't change what happened and you can't alter what you've been through, at least you need to be able to think that there's some greater good that's going to come out of it. . . . Ruth, on the other hand, coming to the crossroads, she looks at Orpah who left. Ruth turns to Naomi and says, "as the Lord liveth I shall not leave thee". She makes a statement to this woman that sounds somewhere in between poetry, intimacy and borders on lesbianism. People don't even know how to explain what Ruth said to Naomi. It makes them uncomfortable, they are afraid to talk about it, they don't want to teach on it. The same thing with David and Jonathan. Whenever same sex relationships get too close people don't even know what to say because people are so carnal they think the only thing that can tie you to somebody is flesh to flesh. Understand that Naomi was an older woman. She was old enough to be Ruth's mama. She's not attracted to Naomi's flesh Some kind of way Naomi's spirit has gotten in her spirit. There is something that happens to you occasionally where you can meet somebody and you sense, you sense, you sense that your destiny… oh God, oh God… your destiny is tied to that person. Do you understand? Do you understand what's happening to us? Do you understand that we are spending our lives together? Has it ever crossed your mind that we are spending our lives together? That we will die after this, and that we have been joined together and we are spending our life together? Have you ever realized you can spend your life anywhere with anybody doing anything, but something happens inside of you where you sense that your destiny is tied to a ministry or to a vision and you decide to spend your life . . . People keep talking about spending their money. That ain't nothing. I can spend my money and live in Chicago. But when I spend my life with you, that's all I have. I don't think that hits you. We are spending our lives together. You will not be able to write your story and leave me out. We are spending our lives together. There is no greater bond possible. Occasionally in scriptures in the whole bible you see it happening with people who are not even blood related spend their lives together in the most intimate connection possible. And theologians and scholars and preachers stumble about it because they don't know how to talk about it because they don't understand the power being joined together. How can we explain what made Elisha leave his natural mother and father and run after Elijah to wait on him? To clean his clothes, to pour water on his hair, to set up his tent, but some kind of way Elisha sensed that his destiny was tied to Elijah. How can we explain Timothy, who walks away from everything that he owns to hang out at the outside window of a jail cell as an old man prepares to be beheaded? He peeks in the window handing him books and blankets ministering to him. The young man understood, I'll never be who I was meant to be without you in my life. Do you hear what I'm saying? There is something, there is something about the way you talk it feeds me. It's something about the way you speak that changes me. There is something about your spirit that motivates me and I'll never be completed without you and I didn't meet you by accident. I didn't stumble up and meet you. This didn't just happen. There is a reason that I'm in this place. I'm so sick of talking to people who think that everything just happens. I guess I'll go to church. I guess I'll get saved. I guess I'll move to Chicago. I guess I'll move to Dallas. That's not how it is. The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord. Your steps were ordered. If you hadn't got the phone call that you got when you got like you got it, you wouldn't even be here right now. If you hadn't made the turn that you made yesterday you wouldn't experience what you are experiencing today. God has been behind the curtain like a puppet master pulling strings in your life. It's not that you're smart, it's not that you're great; it's not that you're holy; it's not that you're perfect; it's not that you're good; but God winded you up; pointed you in the right direction; released you into your destiny; and you are here and you can't get away. Slap somebody and tell them nothing just happens. Can I talk to you a few more minutes? This means, this means, this means that I'm up under the banner of his will. I'm up under the banner of his will. Even in the midst of death, I'm up under the banner of his will. Even in the midst of pain, I'm up under the banner of his will. Even in the midst of separation and disappointment I'm up under the banner of his will. Can I take you to the next level? Jonah was sent to Nineveh, went to Tarsus, headed for Tarsus not obeying God, got thrown off the boat into the belly of the fish, swallowed up for three days. Even though God told him to go to Nineveh, and he didn't go, he was still in the will. I'm not sure you can handle this. He went the wrong way and he was still in the will. They threw him off the boat he was still in the will. I'll prove to you he was in the will. It just happened to be a big fish. See it just happened to be a big fish swimming beside the big boat so that when men dumped him over, the fish just happened to… this is too strong. You can't take this. The fish carried him down to the bottom of the mountains with seaweed wrapped around its neck. He's thousands of feet below sea level and God sustained him. Sustained him not one day, not two days, not four days, but three days. Nothing just happens. On the third day… on the third day the backslidden, rebellious, reprobate, disconnected, disjointed preacher comes up out of the water, and thousands of years later Christ says even as Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days so shall the son of man be in the grave. He had to get up when he got up, and he had to go down when he went down because nothing just happens. Oh God. Your mistakes were in his will. Your trouble was in his will. Your pain was in his will. I don't care what you went through. David said if I make my bed in hell, thou art there. If I take the wings of the morning and ascend unto the uttermost parts of the earth God is still there. He was with you in the middle of your trouble. He was with you in the middle of your pain. That's why Paul said, I've learned whatever state I'm in, therewith to be content. I know how to be rich. I know how to be poor. I know how to be free. I know how to be bound. You ought to shout. I don't care where you are because nothing just happens! And no devil in hell has ever been able to abort the purpose of God not once. And yes, God gave you a human will, and you are a free moral agent; but if you think that your human will is strong enough to change his divine will you are tripping. You are out of your mind. God is God. The reason we worship him as God is because he is the CEO. He is in charge. He runs the universe. And when God gets ready to make you, and when God gets ready to break you, and when God gets ready to take you, he has never been without the power to make you yield to his will. He's never, not one moment or time, not been able to orchestrate your affairs and anointing in your life. Think about the most damnable thing that ever happened and shout 'nothing'! Think about the most embarrassing thing that ever happened in your life and shout 'nothing'! Think about the most impoverished, financially depleting thing that ever happened in your life and shout 'nothing'! Think about the worse scandal that you ever went through in your life and shout 'nothing'! Think about people who loved you and walked out and left you and shout 'nothing'! Think about betrayal on the highest level of your life and shout 'nothing'! Think about the struggle going on on your job right now and shout 'nothing'! Think about the attitude of your kinfolks and your family members and shout 'nothing'! Think about how your boss is treating you on your job and shout 'nothing'! Think about that disagreement between you and your children and shout 'nothing'! Think about your past life of sin, your whoremongering, your inappropriateness, your attitude, your dysfunction and shout 'nothing'! Shout 'nothing'! |
By, Eric Marrapodi, CNN He pastored a 4,000-member church in California. He was a sought-after speaker at major conferences, wrote two best-sellers and launched a DVD teaching series. Then he abruptly resigned and left the country. But in Francis Chan’s unexpected journey there apparently is no hidden scandal, no money trail, and no ‘other’ woman. “I just want to disappear for a while,” he said in late September as he prepared to leave Cornerstone Community Church in Simi Valley, California for an undisclosed location in Asia. Before selling his house and packing up his wife and three children, Chan was becoming “Christian famous” in Evangelical circles. "Even in my own church I heard the words, ‘Francis Chan’ more than I heard the words, ‘Holy Spirit’,” he said That was a big part of the reason he walked away at the peak of his professional career. “I think there has been too much emphasis on me. I want to be used by God, but I think we have this desire to make heroes out of people rather than following God and the Holy Spirit.” He quotes the apostle Paul, who told his followers “I didn’t die for you.” In his world of big conference crowds, multiple services each week, and instant access to social media, the notion of pastoral care had begun to change. His fame was straining his work as a pastor. “When there is a large constituency, there’s a lot of voices,” he said. “It makes you arrogant or it makes you want to shoot yourself. When thousands of people tell you what they think, how can I be quick to listen, like the Bible says? I don’t want to be a jerk and tune everyone out. At the same time you, can’t love every single person and answer them.” So after lots of prayer and soul searching, Chan decided it was best to leave the church, country, and Internet behind to focus on serving others one-on-one. Chan’s rise in popularity began with the founding of Cornerstone Community Church in 1994. Like many independent churches in the United States, Cornerstone is not tied to a larger denomination. Chan reluctantly calls it an Evangelical church, but says “titles on churches don’t always match up. You walk in with assumptions.” His first book, Crazy Love: Overwhelmed by a Relentless God, has hit the New York Times best seller list since he left for Asia. His second, The Forgotten God: Reversing our Tragic Neglect of the Holy Spirit, offers a glimpse into why he left. “I was giving a lot of people just five minutes here and five minutes there,” he said in an interview, describing the book’s central theme. “I need to get better at just saying no to people and no to the crowds . . . Jesus worked a lot with individuals and his twelve [disciples].” Two DVDs in his four-part teaching series, Basic, have been released, with more to come in March. In Basic: Fear God, Chan says he doesn’t think we fear God enough. He appears starkly lit in front of a black backdrop to hammer home his metaphor, in which a woman tied to a bed watches as water slowly fills the bedroom. The water level rises until she is completely submersed and struggling to get free. Only then does panic set in. If we were to meet God in person, Chan said, “I think the first thing He would say is you don’t take me seriously. You have no idea how to fear me.” It is just one way Christians miss the point of the messages in the Bible, he said, a notion he aims to correct in the DVD series. The New Testament, for instance, calls for a much greater commitment than many churches reveal when wooing new converts, he said. “We almost simplify it. We won’t tell people how painful it could be. It’s almost like joining the Marines and saying how fun it will be. Yet Jesus says, I’m worth it, I promise you I’m worth it.” Chan was not drawing a salary at Cornerstone before he left, and never made more than $36,000 a year. “I wanted to make sure I wasn’t doing things just because I was paid to,” he said. Mike Steinwender, the current administrative pastor from the church, told CNN in an email that “There were/are no budget or financial health issues that led to Mr. Chan leaving.” Chan’s departure from his 9 to 5 gig to pursue his passion is something many cubicle dwellers can only dream about. But not every pastor agrees with his choice. Joshua Harris is the Senior Pastor at Covenant Life Church in Gaithersburg, Maryland. He skyrocketed to fame in Christian circles with his book in the 1990’s I Kissed Dating Goodbye, which influenced many young Christians to do the same. Harris and Chan have spoken at length about Chan’s decision, and Harris knows first hand about the rigors of the being “Christian famous.” “Gifted people often become more the focus than the gospel,” Harris said. “But you can’t build a church around a personality. You get up and you preach a sermon and people walk away thinking what a great guy – and that’s a failure as a pastor. Our job is to proclaim Christ. He said he understood Chan felt God was leading him in a new direction. But he hopes there won’t be an exodus of pastors from their pulpits. “There’s a tendency to idolize one person’s choices. We have to say, ‘you know what, there are a lot of ways to see what faithfulness [to God’s calling] looks like.’ Not every pastor of a big church should leave.” Chan has been traveling across Asia, according to his website, where his wife Lisa has posted periodic updates. She wrote that the family has been to India and Thailand, visiting small churches and missionaries. In an October update, she mentioned Chan was preaching again: “Francis spoke a great message of encouragement to this little body of Christ hidden away in a slum in India . 100 years from now we will be worshiping together. We will look each other in the eye and KNOW that it was worth it.” Chan plans to return to the states in January. He is already scheduled to appear at the Passion Conference in Atlanta, which has drawn a crowd of more than 20,000 in the past, and do a stint in the chapel at the NBA All-Star game in February. http://exministries./2010/12/23/is-this-a-wake-up-call-for-the-church-from-pastor-francis-chan/ |

His effortless mix of Gospel music with influences as far as Rock, Pop, Nigerian rhythms, Soul and even Native American Indian beats have fed the enthusiasm to make him one of the UK’s most sought after music acts. With the release of his latest project “Declaring His Love”, the lead single “Hey Ya” again marks a unique fusion of an American Indian Chant with Contemporary Gospel music. This opening track is one of Muyiwa’s favourites. “It’s a fusion of the 1st Nation of America’s Music (American Indian) with African beats and laced with the classic Muyiwa and Riversongz vocals,” says Muyiwa. An encounter in the US with the 1st Nation of America left him inspired by their history and strength as a people reminding him of his own African experience, singing with his people in his language and the familiar feeling of love and acceptance. Teaming up with EMMA Award winning producer Eddie Martin (whose writing/production credits include Whitney Houston, Sarah Connor, Ne-Yo, Jennifer Lopez, Chris Brown and West Life), this winning combination was to be the result of two so-far-released hit albums selling in excess of 80,000 combined units to date. The new 2008 live music release “Declaring His Love” sees them reunite which promises to raise the stakes musically and visually as an exclusive separate DVD will also be made available in support of extensive national/international touring. A seasoned radio presenter, Muyiwa hosts the the flagship show “Gospel Tonight” and “Worship Tonight” on Premier Radio as well as presenting “Sounds Of Africa” on Lufthansa Airlines which carried 56 million passengers last year. Since the release of his two albums “Restoration” and “Declaring His Power”, Muyiwa’s voice in the Gospel world has become instantly recognisable and one that he hopes will unite people of all races, cultures and denominations. |

Worshippers Pay N1,000 To Enter Oyakhilome's Church Date: Jan 5th, 2011 Christ Embassy Church in Lagos, South-West Nigeria, is being turned into show business as members were made to part with N1, 000 each as gate fee before they could enter their church to attend the New Year’s Eve service, P.M.NEWS can reveal. P.M.NEWS confirmed that only members who could afford the N1, 000 gate fee were allowed into the premises of Christ Embassy Headquarters at Oregun, Lagos, where self-styled cleric and business man, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, preached on 31 December 2010. https://pmnewsnigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/oyah-ticket.jpg The N1,000 ticket at Oyakhilome's Christ Embassy church Indigent members who could not afford the N1, 000 tickets, were denied access and sent back by security men at the gate, it was learnt. The church, a source said, realised about N25 million from about 25, 000 members who bought the tickets. It was gathered that the church informed its members that it decided to impose a gate fee to control the huge crowd that always besiege the church on the New Year’s Eve church service. “Pastor said that to control the crowd and only allow genuine members who could do anything to be in church, it was good to pay a gate fee. Last year for instance, even senior pastors in the church could not secure a seat in the church on New Year’s Eve service,” our source said. The ticket, bought by our correspondent, was still on sale today, five days after the New Year’s church service took place. A copy of the ticket has the following information printed on it: “one service…different locations worldwide impact! Time: 7 pm, Venue: Loveworld Convocation Arena, N1,000, December 31st New Year’s Eve Service With Pastor Chris.” There is also a bold picture of Oyakhilome wearing one of his flashy suits. On the background there is a huge crowd in adulation of the man who once boasted that he will never be broke in life. At the back of the ticket is a bold inscription : “ This ticket admists one person.” The development, described as scandalous by those who got a glimpse of it, is unprecedented in the history of Christianity in Nigeria. In the medieval period, similar scandals led to the break-away of Martin Luther from the Catholic church. This led to the formation of the Protestant movement. At that time, Catholic priests were collecting money, known as indulgences, from worshippers before they could confess their sins. These indulgences had become big business in much the same way pledge drives have become big business in Nigeria. The development outraged Luther and others who kicked against it, quit the church and founded the protestant movement. The latest scandal in Oyakhilome’s church comes only weeks after he appeared before the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to answer questions on money laundering allegations. According to TheNews magazine edition of 13 December 2010, the alleged laundering of $35 million by Christ Embassy was traced by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission with the help of foreign partners. The magazine reported that Oyakhilome and money have had a bitter-sweet relationship. While money has brought him a lush lifestyle: an eye-popping auto collection, a movie-star wardrobe of stylish suits and choice properties that include a stunning church auditorium, it has also brought him an arm-long list of scandals. — Simon Ateba http://pmnewsnigeria.com/2011/01/05/worshippers-pay-n1000-to-enter-oyakhilomes-church/ |

Hey whilst you're at it, for encouragement and the added excitement bonus, take a peek at Mark 9:29 "And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting" - Mark 9:29 KJV Bet you're getting worked up now with hands clasped and a comic grin on your face because of that bit of shrapnel Break a leg ![]() |
