Know a friend going to Lagos today who had to reroute from Owerri to Enugu,so as to join Aero. He was very lucky to get a ticket for 20k because he knew someone. On getting to the airport (an hr before departure) he was told how lucky he was as the agent was under intense pressure to resell the ticket for 40k. And he's meant to leave the country tonite frm Lagos. I really pity the hundreds of stranded passengers. |
saxywale: This is not just about FRSC campaigns, the accident is MECHANICAL NOT BEHAVIORAL and FRSC are tilted towardd enforcing proper driving. We really have to look in dept into traffic regulation laws in Nigeria. If EU countries without bodies similar to FRSC can be safest in the world in terms of traffic accidents, then we should even have lower rates. So something is definitely wrong.I partly agree with u, but i dont understand the part in capitals. I beleive the ATTITUDE of the driver, is about the most important when it comes to safety. Not every one would speed off with an articulated truck just to avoid a police check point knowing the grave dangers that may lead to, many drivers do this out of ignorance or shear lack of respect for human life. Imagine i had to get my speed up to 120km/hr! on an occasion to enable me overtake an articulated truck! I was convinced the brakes had failed as it ran other vehicles off the road. To my utter dismay it came to a complete stop when it got to a check point! On another occasion i had to get my speed up to 90km/hr to overtaked a fully loaded PETROL TANKER(that road was a smooth dual carriage so the driver "FORGOT" what he was carrying. I tried flagging him down to reduce speed but i dont know if he had a clue what i was doing. saxywale: This is not just about FRSC campaigns, the accident is MECHANICAL NOT BEHAVIORAL and FRSC are tilted towardd enforcing proper driving. naja2: five reasons why it wont happen in saner climes.U would have made more sense if u deleted number 5. However, in order to prove ur theory on the intelligence of Nigerians, by using urself as a guinea pig/example, u didn't. "A surge in vehicular traffic is usually witnessed during the EMBER months because of the festivities and the start of the dry season (events are preferrably held). There is thus a propensity for RTAs/MVAs. This is a world wide phenomenon and timing may vary depending on the holiday period of the country. It has nothing to do with the sound of the "ember" months. |
Most of these articulated truck drivers, have this extremely dangerous attitude of looking down on other road users in smaller vehicles as if they are untouchable. Apart from most of the vehicles being in a poor state, the new ones are equally dangerous and wont hesitate to run u off the road(road construction trucks esp). Many of the drivers spend very long hrs on the road and are mentally drained. The FRSC has to start a campaign on SAFE TRUCKING and EMBER months. This is VERY VERY SAD. |
dayokanu: Angry cos Im not Igbo? Who wants to be a cannibal?Gosh. U dont have to reply to every single post especially if u dont have anything meaningful to say. Try and control the craving before u go naked in the market square, typing frantically on the air. Pls try HARD not to reply.. |
free2ryhme: Does your level of Christianity attained states that you should go nude in photo shots.. Who are you deceiving?Aaaaaah!! What is this na? Pls, abeg quickly modify this post. We shouldnt always put the blame on TYPO. Ur username is a paradox of what u just posted. U cant even make a coherent sentence. |
Arsenate: personally, I'd prefer to live in the North than in any state in the SE. At least In the north if one avoids crowds one can be safe to some extent. But in the SE one can be hunted at any place at any time. The Mikels , despite the fact that they can afford to live in any city in Nigeria still prefer to live up north. That depends on what ur religion and ethnic group is. Do u know how many Southerners have fled the North back home in recent years? Do you know how many corp members have forfieted months just to avoid serving in the north? Is the North now devoid of armed robbery incidents? Where was Mikel's father even kidnapped? U cannot begin to compare highly targeted crime incidents to some one opening fire or throwing stones in a market place(BOKO HARAM), the latter could hit anyone. |
cap28: I cant beleive someone with limited analytical skills can refer to someone as a "nitwit". cap28: I cant beleive someone with limited analytical skills can refer to someone as a "nitwit". cap28: I cant beleive someone with limited analytical skills can refer to someone as a "nitwit".Where were u radicalized? Niger, Chad, or is it Pakistan? U are blindly echoing the arguements of radical islamic fundamentalists which they use to justify their terrorist acts. I'm still trying to hold on to the belief that not all muslims are like that. |
hardbody: How about the US just close down permanently and go home? Must they be everywhere? Is there anything they forgot in Nigeria that they want to take. I believe in Africa for Africans, enough of all these their 'nose in the air' attitude. Who even needs America? The eediots themselves are relying on China for economic survival. Humongous fwools.Misdirected aggression. |
PURE COCCK N BULL STORY! Nissan is not that stuipid! Ghana and SA no dey again? Anyway i guess its the local investors that will bear most of the economic burden. A lot needs to be in place first. Antecedents are there to show the outcome. |
Temistatics 007: you are not getting me,i meant how did the dog(captain) transport itself from europe to argentina?Bwuhahahahahahahaha!! I seriously thought u were being sarcastic, but u've kept pushing it. U mean GERMAN Sheperd fron GERMANY to ARGENTINA abi? U are irredeemably dumb! |
Billyonaire: You call my $2,000 BB Porsche cheap and glorified ? That's pretty low IQ, do you not agree ?Chai!! It would have made more sense if u held $1200 to the edge of a lighter and burnt it, then used the change to get a Galaxy S3. And no one will even accuse u of having a low IQ. |
kunle357: One thing i know for sure is that any car is good for nigerian roads, most cars are great however, nigerian car owners/drivers are just the worst! their maintenance cultures are the worst and no one can save such vehicles after they have been through such drivers.. im a car dealer and i import vehicles from only USA and Canada and i can tell you authoritatively that its the divers that are bad and not the cars!U're somewhat right. But even with good maintenance, our roads can wreck almost any vehicle or at the least reduce its lifespan by 50%. Going from PH to Enugu for eg will put a giant strain on a Range rover. When oyibo said 'offroad', am sure they didnt have Nigerian roads in mind. |
They also happen to be in Ikoyi, VI, Lekki, Ajah, Ikeja etc. That's a great deal of flushing to do.. The left over will be umm.... |
lawizle: Dey dint say mention names of jeeps u know ode!dude that was rude, but ...hilarious I favour Nissan xterra, Toyota landcruiser (pricy, but no nonsense ruggedness) Nissan pathfinder Toyota 4runner(very bland though) |
I wonder those that are clamouring for a new state in the SE. I dont think it is necessary. A confederate system of government is what we shld be talking about. However, it wont be rejected if it comes to pass but i dont want my state divided. |
Nextworldnx: I dont know why ibos are always stepping on toes and also chest-thumping against all tribes in nigeria.Ant gather food finish for rainy season. Grasshopper dey, dey play guitar. Dry season come, grasshopper begin drag the food with ant. Wetin fit that grasshopper? No be to roast am chop? |
@sisi I believe u have a deep rooted remorse for the Nigerian government and i wouldnt blame u. However, 45 working days for a visa application is criminal! The govt is not always wrong and shld be proportionately commended when they get it right which they did. Ur attitude suggests that Canada has the right to do whatever they want since Nigeria is a "h ellhole" courtesy of the govt. Now the same govt stands up and says NO ,and u still curse. That's hypocrisy. |
dadicvila: God bless you my brother, even me an Ijaw man know the people commiting all manner of atrocities and spoiling the name of igbos,i give Anambra people 50yards,i grew up with igbo's,yoruba's,hausa's etc, plus i have interacted with all and sundry but i have never seen a group of people as desperate as anambra people, they can kill for even 50naira,Godbless my coal city,Imo and Abia peeps, shame on Anambra people,TufiakwaWhere is the only beatified Nigerian from? Where is the first black papal conclave cardinal from? Nobody has a monopoly of good or evil. |
phraze: Only people with foresight emulate the steps of Great Leaders. Mr. Seun has supported this, don't know why i should'nt. Ekù ishè SirThis is got to be the dumbest post, put in the most possibly irritating way. This is pure SHEEP mentality, retarded sheep at that! Seun supports it, so it's right. U cant think for urself again? Remember the lead ram tends to make it across the road, it's the sheep following that gets crushed by the oncoming trailer. If a Nigerian who can use a computer can reason like this, we are bleeped! |
maasoap: Sorry sir, Sanusi may be wrong on this one as you've said but Soludo was a disaster. He raised the Nigerian banks capital base to 25billion naira each, and right under his nose, that capital base of many banks were reduced to zero coz of corruption and he claimed he wasn't aware of their then financial situation.Dont agree with u. Soludo was the best CBN gov we've ever had. He kickstarted the banking sector and gave it international relevance. It was his proposed revaluation policy of the naira that put him out of favour with greedy and corrupt politicians who would have effectively had there financial wings clipped. |
Bat (better than beaf) Impala (very delicious) Grasscutter (cant get enough of this) Monitor lizard (fishy) Termites (crunchy) Salmon (raw and overrated) |
dayokanu: So who would inherit Biancar? It's Bianca. |
Where exactly does the govt hope to build the lifestyle city? |
@OP most of the places u mentioned are highbrow areas so the rent will be on the high side. Again the demand for housing has gone up sharply in Enugu in the past year or two as improving infrastructure has attracted more businesses and individuals. Enugu is not entirely a civil service city. If u think Enugu is unnecessarily expensive check out Owerri, u'll be shocked. |
This is a welcome development. It's of utmost important that Anambra gets it right come the next election so as to kick start an internationally vibrant economic zone. I pray someone like Soludo be given a chance. That state needs an economist. |
ofcourse this will never make the frnt page unlesss it's about kidnapping |
One can see from the number of hidden posts why some topics should not be put up on the front page, yet this keeps happening. Moderator u have ur hands full. |
miketayo: i totally disagree, have the checked the east african countries (uganda, rwanda, etc..) or the small countries in west africa.. they are just hatingThe key word is LIVEABLE and believe me, the cities in many of those countries are more liveable than Lagos! Not all cities were part of the survey though. The world definitely has more than 140 cities. |
chic2pimp: It has nothing to do with that.Better hosts ![]() With the worst ticketting in olympic history. I've just cut off 2hrs from my sleep time watching this. Mostly boring with few flashes of brilliance. |
Freesia: beginning of George's second song sounds like the BBC songWas thinking the exact same thing! |
