2 million: ok...so which celine do u recommend?Celine Dion |
I love road trips! I think i'll do this in the future. |
manny4life: Unless I'm sadly mistaken, I thought the claims was Onitsha was the largest biggest market in West Africa?I believe u misunderstood me. What i mean is that it would not be so wise to site such a mall in a saturated state like Anambra. |
INNO18: if u ask me i'd opine that the rite person for the job in 2014 would be soludo. Just my opinion ooo.I agree with u on this. |
Ohaneze1: It is not a direct investment of PO..Thanks a lot. Besides, would it make economic sense to build such a mall in a state that has the biggest market in West Africa? |
afam4eva: Pls list some of those investments.I dont have to spoon feed u with common info. U took the pains to look up the supposed 'owner' of a mall in Abuja, it shldnt be hard to dig out the ones in ur backyard. Obi is definitely not the best gov, but to say he cannot invest in his state is pure fallacy. |
blink182: This leaf is better than Nigeria.Chai! You harsh oh |
afam4eva: It's no news that Peter Obi owns that mall.Utter rubbish. Do u know how many investments Peter Obi has in Anambra state? Pls go and do ur research. |
Negro_Ntns: Lol... Lagos was not developed by FG. You have no clue what development is if Ibadan, to you, is nothing but a slum. Then who developed Lagos? If not the colonialists and FG. I agree that the whole of Ibadan is not slum but the greater part is. |
Negro_Ntns: So why arent these places in SE getting developments? Your governors do not face the problem of high population density like Lagos, Kano, Ibadan but yet collect huge chunks of allocation....what do they do with the money if they are not using it for development? The last time i checked my geography book the largets market in West Africa was somewhere in the SE. And i beliieve that same state just flagged off a refinery. |
Negro_Ntns: ......and i forgot to add to the response on "Lagos was developed as a capital" point.I beieve u are not serious right? Name any meaningful/major infrastructure in Lagos that came from ur so called petty trade of Oba of Lagos with the portugese? Next u'll tell me that third mainland bridge was built by Lagos fishermen. Pls Lagos is what it is today BECAUSE it was made the capital of Nigeria. Pls do not mention Ibadan(a relic), it is basically an overpopulated slum (which goes to prove that Lagos survived bc it was made capital), and it's population is not growing as fast as Abuja,Enugu,PH, Uyo or Owerri so i dont get ur point. That the word Lagos came from the portugese does not mean that a multi million cowrie trade was going on btw the two. They simply got there first and named it. It's like a wild animal scent marking it's territory with urine. |
Negro_Ntns: PointB,What are u trying to say? Lagos has been the nation's capital and it's development results from oil wealth derived from the SS and SE not from any stroke of genius of the state govt. IMO Lagos is largely self sustaining and even though governing it may seem demanding, there's is a lot of resources to do that. |
PointB: I trust David Mark to agree. Lol. He is an astute politrickcian. Thanks bro That's what Fashole does not seem to understand. If state policing is to be adopted then Lagos shld not be singled out as SPECIAL, rather a wholistic approach shld be taken. |
Can that babe really sing? She's just another pretty face. |

President of the Senate, Senator David Mark, and Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State have agreed on the need to give Lagos State a special status in the constitution. They said this, yesterday, at the South-West zonal public hearing on proposed amendment of the 1999 Constitution, in Lagos. Also, Senator Gbenga Ashafa (ACN, Lagos East) justified the need to accord Lagos a special status, saying: “From the opinions of the people of this district, there is no going back on our resolve that Lagos be given Special Status. I have continually stressed that Lagos remains the commercial and industrial capital of Nigeria in spite of Abuja. It is also the largest employer of labour in Nigeria, a situation, which only a special status can sustain and enhance for the benefit and welfare of all Nigerians.” This came as Mark dismissed insinuations that the leadership of the National Assembly had a hidden agenda in reviewing the 1999 Constitution. He explained that the public hearings being held across the six geo- political zones of the federation, were aimed at ensuring that Nigerians make contributions to the constitution amendment exercise. No hidden agenda – Mark Dismissing allegations of a hidden agenda, Mark said: “The Senate and indeed, the National Assembly has no hidden agenda. Nobody can say what will happen and what will not happen. There are so many topics that are before us, but we may not be able to take all of them in one single sweep.” Fashola restates need for state police On his part, Fashola restated his stand on the need for a state police and a special status given to Lagos State. He said: “As far as Lagos State is concerned, its strategic importance to the Federal Republic of Nigeria cannot be over-emphasized; its contributions in terms of GDP, political, social and economic development cannot be argued. All those who have defined themselves in this country can call Lagos their first or second home. “Lagos is a place where you would see somebody who looks like you, who dresses like you, who eats your kind of food and who speaks your language. Lagos State was a federal capital of Nigeria but this is the only former capital that has been left on its own. And I think that in the national interest, Lagos now deserves and should be treated as a special state.” I do not say it because of Lagos, but I say it because of Nigeria. This is where all the food producing regions sell their food, this is the market for the whole country. Now, the reality is that if this state (Lagos) does not prosper, prosperity will become difficult in any part of the country. And therefore, it is my humble opinion that Lagos be given a special status.” While identifying the limitation of time, he advised the leadership of the National Assembly to take necessary steps that will ensure the process ends well. Speaking further, Fashola said it was imperative for each state in the federation to develop at its own pace saying that will enhance development in the country. According to him, “a federal arrangement for this country, in my view, is not negotiable. We are so different yet the same and the best way therefore is to allow each independent state to develop at its own speed, according to its own resources, according to its own ability in a way that the prosperity of each state can become the prosperity of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. So to issues like fiscal federalism and political federalism, I will put them on the top of the line. What is most important to deal with is our national security because without national security, people will continue to live in fear and there is very little we can do. It is only in an area of peace and security that we can do business, that we can govern and plan. Therefore until each state is able to enforce its own laws, we will continue to be beset with this problem of national security. And my advocacy for a state police does not mean that it will exist without the federal authority, but very clearly, the central government has been unable to recruit enough personnel to distribute across the state. There state laws relating to local issues that even the federal police is not bothered about any more. In advisory manner, the issue of more states and more regions must be looked at by balancing the agitation with realities of our finances. On the one side, the Nigerian people are strong in their views that there is too much money being spent in running governance. Let me also advise that the constitution does not create any organ without responsibility and with responsibility comes personnel. So, if you decide to create more regions and more states, it will bring more money.” Earlier in his remarks, the Senate Minority Whip, Senator Ganiyu Solomon explained that the zonal public hearing was aimed at bringing the review closer to the people. Senator Solomon assured people from the South West that the committee would consider all inputs in the ongoing process to amend the constitution. culled from Naij www.osundefender.org/?p=65971 |
What is the thick lipped eejit feeling like? |
Those of u bashing the op obviously lack courtesy. Why would any right thinking human FIDDLE with the stereo of the person giving u a lift. What happened to asking politely 'i'm sorry but pls could u lower the volume, i need to take a call(and that is if u absolutely have to take the call as this in itself is impolite if u are a stranger)'. Reaching out your left hand to fiddle my controls while bawling loudly at the phone is a NO NO for me. Perhaps, worst for me is INTRUSION into my privacy. I have had a complete stranger whom i offered a lift ask me PERSONAL questions in a bid to keep up a conversation. What do u do for a living? Are u married? Where does ur wife work !!!How many children do u have??!! Where do u worship?etc etc It took a lot of self control not to let off the person as it was raining. If u must discuss, guage the mood of the person and stick to politics, sports and the weather( if u are a stranger). |
1. THE JAPANESE Every political office holder from LG counsellor to the president shld be given the boot. The Japs shld take over for 2 decades. An MOU shld be in place to prevent unilateral transfer of wealth to their island. I admire their get it done or resign/commit suicide attitude. 2. THE SINGAPOREANS Their tinge of dictatorial discipline will auger well for us. 3. THE KOREANS(SOUTH/NORTH!) Same as the Singaporeans FORGET anything/one Nigerian, (that's just a Lugardian word for now). |
He rendered soul touching and inspirational songs which genuinely ministered unto one. May God look upon him with mercy. |
cap28: cheers bro - research Abiola's background and you will discover that this man was a close friend of IBB and even Abacha - he financed the military coup that overthrew Buhari in 1985, Buhari was trying to steer Nigeria in the right direction - Abiola was a traitor and a criminal this is why yoruba people do not like him and even in death they did not want Unilag named after him because they knew what he stood for - this girl is reaping the benefits of her father's ill gotten wealth at the expense of many nigerians who are living in poverty and misery, many nigerians will never get the chance to live the life she is living due to the mass looting that her father and other nigerian bandit politicians subjected nigeria to.Really? That's shocking. Soon, Paris Hilton will come on dragons den to tell the whole world that her paid for "Oxford education" wasnt in vain, and she needs $20,000 for a blueprint on a perfume. Dupsy maybe smart but she's a dog in a manger. |
So many other sectors lie fallow, tourism, fishing etc Why does it have to be sth controversial? Lagos is not particularly the expert at agric and they dont have the land. If they claim to have made the survey, they can provide the skills they claim to possess and Ogun will provide the land without having to "allocate" it. A patnership can still hold without all the ado. |
dayokanu: I am sure if you ask the same two question on the street of Ikire, Arochukwu or Azare you would get the same answer. Most people wont even know what a triangle is.Not a fair comparism at all. America is a first world country with up to 90% literacy levels. They have about 50% of the universities in the top 20 rankings. Majority of the citizens have access to the internet. It's true that not all make it to college but a very good number make thru highschool (which is where most of the geography is taught). With all the advantage, one would expect them to be more enlightened!! I wouldnt even want to begin to narrate my experience with some A class college gradutes. |
Siena: Your friend's method of checking fuel consumption is seriously flawed. You can't work out consumption data by saying a 100-litre tank runs dry in a week, driving from Ketu to Marina daily. That means nothing. I don't know what the route is like - distance, average speeds reached on these trips, coolant temperature (does the engine ever get up to full operating temp?) Short trips are heavier on fuel than long ones. Thanks a lot. Dont know why someone would expect a 2.5l engine car to have the same fuel consumption as a 2.2l or 1.8l. Nissan makes cars for pple who enjoy the art of driving and cant afford the luxury brands. They make the best engines in the japanese lineup and their cars are pretty reliable. Toyotas are good but too ubiquitous and simplistic (i guess that's what makes them durable and easy to work on). Driving a toyota is like eating garri every afternoon(boring). |

sixfoot+:The problem is that it's easy for someone who doesnt know the consequences of this absolutely unnecessary and crude action to sit back somewhere and say it's justified forgetting that it's still lives that are at risk. I hear some babies died during the 10hr wait plus other possible casualties of ill passengers. Road safety had to evacuate so many ill pple. And NO directive was given to bar interstate travellers so traffic remained at its full blast. |
torhuke: U av xhibited d highness of yr folly. U must be a fool of foolz. My cousinz sis who was traveling frm kogI to Lagos wx held around ogori magongo which is nxt to akoko edo becos of the electionz. They were alowed to move @ abt 4:30 pm dat day. Bt ur brainlessness will make u talk factlessly. It wx announced dt ther wil be curfew in ondo state 4 security reasonz as regads d election and u think D federal roadz dt crosses ondo state shuld be exempted. Den wht are dey curfewing? slowpoke like u will spew mess frm yr sour mouth and even insult people in d process.. Go and pass the people stranded their & if ur involved, u can do yr sef a fovour by slaping one of d soldierz on road block.U are a typical eejit! 2 wrongs have never made a right. And the right thing still remains that the directive was given to allow interstate travellers access thru the federal highway. Like i said these travellers have no business with ur elections it would have been easy for the police to barricade any road leading off the highway. Those same pple imposing the curfew allowed hawkers to drive to ore and get merchandise for sale to stranded travellers. |
fonzie2u: .They shld have stopped the earth's rotation because a backward insignificant state that makes up less than 4% of the country's population is conducting fake elections. Pls refer to any of yesterday's dailies to see what the IG said abt movt thru the state and stop being irritatingly ignorant. I usually dont reply mofos but i owe u some enlightenment. |
torhuke: Please tell the lopsided thinker.. Nigerianz are onesided and parochial in their thotz. Make them fly nah!Ur reasoning is subpar. Edo state conducted elections not very long ago and interstate travellers passed freely without a hitch. The IG didnt give any such order. Who is breaking the law? I guess u are frm Ondo state, the state is less than 4% of the country's population so interstate travellers on a federal highway have no reason to be stopped frm going abt their business. U're talking abt 3 geopolitical zones cut off, that's abt 15 states and ur idiotic decerebrate mind tells u it's alright. |
