PoliticsRe: Enugu, The Pride Of The East. by eaglechild: 4:44pm On Aug 12, 2012
centje: I think d governors of south east and leaders of igbo rnt makin much effort for integration of region, otherwise they shuld hv come up wit well articulated projects targeted for future jst like BRADES in south south, the states in d south east culd create economic, social, political etc ties. This is even much need considerin d amt allocated to us frm federal level. I wnt to see a future where all d igbo states are interconnected in road network,in agriculture and commerce where ebonyi supplies rice for d big market of onitsha and its river port, enugu provides tourism, education, healthcare, imo provides us palm oil and other farm produce, crude oil, tourism, while abia serves as japan of d south east. Dat integrated future is possible if we plan well today. But am nt seein them forth comin. However enugu remains a cosmopolitan city of d south east, hostin every part of igbo and nigerians at large. For instance check workers in unth, owners of major investments in enugu, even am radio station(cosmo fm) was named after d cosmopolitan nature of d state. We are all igbo daz wat matters to me.
That's correct!
I keep imagining what a very smooth 3 lane highway with street lights, going from Onitsha through Enugu, Okigwe, Umuahia, Aba , and PH will do to the economy of the southeast!
Is my dream too farfetched?
Or can the governors collectively achieve this even with little or no FG help.

CrazyMan: Judging from the present state of the country, I don't think what Nigeria needs at the moment is electricity.

Any sensible leader would know that unless he improves the security of lives and properties of his fellow country men, it would be impossible for them to stand behind him come any elections. Most especially when its obvious that their lives and properties aren't secured.

I would suggest that Jonathan should tackle the problem of security first. Its so sad that you can hardly approach a newspaper stand and wouldn't find one killing story or the other.

If it isn't boko haram its militants. If it isn't militants, its armed robbers. If it isn't armed robbers, its cultist. If it isn't cultist, its ritualist. Just killing killing killing. And no one is doing anything to stop it.

Jonathan should know that Nigerians must be assured of their safety before he (GEJ) should think of other projects and re-election.

I came across a thread where the governor of kogi state, because of the high rate of insecurity in his state had to wear a bullet proof vest before coming out in public.

If a governor can be so cautious about his own safety when coming out publicly, what about the common man?

Is the governor trying to tell us that we should all wear bullet proof jackets in public gatherings?

Too be honest, I'm ready to stay in darkness if that's the price to be paid in order to ensure my safety, I don't know about you.
Killing killing killing?
Do you know how many Nigerian families that have been killed by generator fumes?

Do you know how many that have died trying to refuel their generators?

Can u statistically tell me that kerosene explosion has not claimed more lives than ritual killings for instance.

By the way many of the so called armed robbers, kidnappers etc that make our lives insecure are direct products of lack of power supply who have been put out of their small scale businesses.

Do u know how many companies have folded because of power putting youths out of job and into a live of crime making ur life insecure?

Sorry I called you a block head. These arguments lead nowhere and achieve nothing apart from massaging our egos. I'm a very practical person.

If this argument was of any importance, I still would have thrown most of your points out the window and if you are not a bias person as you claim, you will see things my way.

Please do not bother replying, I'm out.
I think u should accept it when someone puts up a good and superior arguement. That's a way of learning.

U cant throw ogugua's arguement out of the window because they are rock solid.
So u walk out. I only hope u left with something.
PoliticsRe: If GEJ Improves Electricity, Will You Vote For Him In 2015? by eaglechild: 5:47am On Aug 09, 2012
blink182: Its more like you who can't think.

Health care: Properly trained doctors are not eletronics
Energy: When I say energy I mean petroleum and gas at the correct price an OPEC member should market it to her citizens. Please figure the rest.
Security: Street lights will not prevent or stop carnage currently going on in the country.
Transportation: I was refering to trains.
Job creation: this I agree on but the jobs won't come from the government but the private sector.
Accepting resolutions drafted by the nationals assembly: Pen use ink not electricity.

most importantly, he should stop being a mo. ron: this side is hopeless, the man has been like this for too long to be changed.

I know some people are not done dreaming but Nigeria is still far off from constant electricity. When an honest government comes into power, we Will know the true situation of things. Not all these propaganda.
I am trying very hard to convince myself that u received basic education.

PLS refer to my previous posts i dont need to repeat myself about healthcare, transport etc
Also note that the OP was creating a scenario of constant electricity. He never claimed the admin would be able to achieve that easily.

And do me a favour, BLINK out of it, i mean ignorance
PoliticsRe: If GEJ Improves Electricity, Will You Vote For Him In 2015? by eaglechild: 5:09am On Aug 09, 2012
Kobojunkie: So by your statements one should easily conclude then that since South Africans, Spaniards, Greeks, Egyptians enjoy far more power than Nigerian do, then by default, jobs will be automagically created, unemployment down, HealthCare, Education will fix itself and transportation too?

So, according to you, the reason our schools suck is not because Government does not invest in them but because there is no electricity?

The reason HealthCare is terrible in Nigeria is not because Nigeria has failed to invest heavily in the sector but because there is no electricity? And even more, the reason our doctors are not as good as they should be is not because they are not well trained in our institutions, and then come out to poorly equipped facilities, but because there is no Electricity?

Fear no gree me continue . .. If person believe say Electricity is the only problem in Nigeria then pray tell, how do you even . . . where do you begin to reason with . . lipsrsealed lipsrsealed lipsrsealed lipsrsealed lipsrsealed
More of lack of knowledge no gree u continue.

The best trained doctors will not use their phones to operate on a patient they literally need working theatre lights and a conducive temperature (ac) to operate efficiently.

Every patient that walks into the hospital requires some form of laboratory or radiology investigation. Will u power the machines by wishful thinking even if u have the latest equipment.
A department like Radiology which is one of the pivots of making a diagnosis CANNOT function without fairly constant power supply.
Crappy electricity is 〓 to very crappy healthcare.

Nigeria is not better than any of the examples u sighted so i wonder why u brought this up.
See what i said in my previous post about transportation.
U even dared mention education!!!!!
I give up on u.

U LACK depth of reasoning!

SStupid Morrons. Fight for your right, not just electricity! And if Boko Haram bomb another place na ur sorry arzz go first cry GEJ head for NL.

Me-wise, I have not gained anything directly from the GEJ Slavery Tenure(s)[/size]
U are the big slowpoke!
Can u mention any sector of development that is not affected by power?
What do u think butressed the industrial revolution?

Without power how will the airport scanners work, look how dark the streets are without lighting and tell me if it's not safer when they are brighltly lit with the govt having to spend less and u're here retorting about security.

Or is it health or agriculture etc that are not affected
It's shocking how shallow pple can be without knowing it.
U are even more moronic to have mentioned transportation. What do u think will best power the rail system we so much need in this country if not electricity.

By the way all of them(healthcare, food etc) are ur rights not just power supply, so that is a lame way to reason.
If constant power supply is provided, many other sectors will automatically become more efficient.
PoliticsRe: Kidnapped Anambra Monarch 'Igwe-Eze' Freed by eaglechild: 11:12pm On Aug 08, 2012
centje: One means of curbing this menace is to institute death penality and be serious abt it. Enugu state hv death penality for kidnappers. And its workin for the state. But as usually ppl wuld wnt to bribe their relatives out. This family must hv paid some ransom to his captors. The worse is that they dnt hv respect anymore, even priests are kidnapped, one day u hear they kidnapped a bishop.
The death penalty has really worked well in Enugu where i here kidnapping is virtually inexistent.

If u are referring to catholic priests, u should know that the catholic church does NOT negotiate with kidnappers so if a priest is kidnapped, the dioscece simply tells u to do with him what u wish(he's God's servant afterall). A smart move that abruptly nipped this act in the bud

@OP
A fair attempt at showing Ekiti but the pictures dont look like they were taken by someone on ground.
Many of the pics just show the same buildings from different angles and the landscape pics have web addresses on them so are obviously not original.
Some of the personal pics were nice though - the traditional attires.

It's important to show the TRUE picture of things and not some photoshopped landscapes and especially important to show the not so good sides of ur state.
If not we will just be giving our politicians a helping hand in looting by singing undeserved praises.

If i hadnt been to Ekiti this would be quite misleading. I know better though.

Car TalkRe: Strange Selling Of Toyota Camry 2007/2008 Cars by eaglechild: 4:45am On Aug 06, 2012
2 greatest car enemies in naija are
BAD ROADS and CLUELESS ROADSIDE MECHANICS the second option will kill ur car very fast no matter how careful u are so avoid them at all cost.

Naturally the newer model cars tend to be more complex for these quacks who are more comfortable with older models following years of trial and error and ruining other ppls cars, so u often see them advising u to stick to the 99s and 01s which is ridiculous!
Generally when a new model of a car is released most pple who can afford it rush to upgrade, that may just be the reason why there is a lot of camrys for sale.

It could also be that Nigerians are beginning to get over their irritating fixation on camry.
Personally anything from 07 just give me an altima(nissan) at least i would be the one driving not the car driving me.

as an 'idea' it remains excellent in reality it's crap.
Our roads appear particularly straine d becaus ethey are virtually inexistent and very poorly maintained .
In many cases we have only one road linking major cities and states.
Yes railways are what we need BUT before that let's overhaul our roads FIRST
PoliticsRe: Southern States To Construct Lagos-Calabar Rail Line by eaglechild: 8:14pm On Jul 31, 2012
Bloody white elephant project that presently makes no economic sense.

How many billions are we talking about here!
And before anyone starts saying eh, it's moving people and not just cargo, what are our roads embarassed doing?
Imagine, just imagine what would happen if that money went into road construction and maintainance in this region.
The truth is any railway that is going to move people in the 21st century for that distance efficiently should be high speed and invaraibly ELECTRIC.
Do we remotely have the capacity to MAINTAIN such ABSOLUTELY NOT.
Or are we hoping to utilise the 60km/hr steam contraptures. Then that may just be acceptable for cargo which makes no sense if u can put that money into roads and reap sooooo much more.
Just look at the state of our roads and we are here talking abt highspeed traintrack blah blah bah linking uncountable states
NONSENSE!!!!!!!

PoliticsRe: Fulani Herdsmen Attack Enugu Community by eaglechild: 1:17pm On Jul 18, 2012
honeric01: Let me ask these harmless/innocent questions:

Why do westerners/southerners/easterners have heavy assets/properties/businesses in the north if truly the northerners hate them?

Can you own assets/properties/businesses in a hostile environment?

But it's very rare to see northerners owning assets/properties/businesses in the south.
My dear honeric
Are u delibrately acting retarded or are u truly mentally challenged.
Notherners rarely own properties in the south for the following simple reasons

1. There is an inexistentent or at best very small middle class which usually drive middle/small scale businesses that bring about ownership of such property.
What u have is an utterly impoverished NO income group and a looting super rich upper class that calls the shots.

2. Obviously the impoverished cannot afford the cost of property in the south

3. Even if they can afford it like some of the beareau de change mallams. Their intolerant nature will not permit them to invest in "another man" land fearing that they will suffer the same fate they are metting out to their hosts up north
PoliticsRe: Fulani Herdsmen Attack Enugu Community by eaglechild: 11:51am On Jul 18, 2012
Many farms have been destroyed by these herdsmen and believe me it's very painful to see one's source of livelihood wiped out in a blink of an eye after months and months of hard labour.
If there's another way, and i believe there should be, the herdsmen shld stay put and quit moving arnd.
Imagine a herd of about 200 cattle moving through major streets in Enugu and leaving in their wake heaps of excreta after pple have been paid to sweep those streets
They have freedom of movt, right
It's just that pple down south are alot more civil if not...

Onitsha is definitely more commercialised than Aba.
Presently to say which is more industralised may be controversial.
However, with the current influx of manufacterers to Osha and the setback suffered by Aba during the "kidnap" saga, i"ll go with Osha. Aba is also completed neglected by govt.
Lagos (not Ikeja) was the former capital of Nigeria and shld be left out of this.
If i get the OP right the idea is for govt to spread allocation more evenly and encourage other towns aside the capital to develop.
Other aforementioned towns apart from Nnewi and warri have a long way to go.
