Recent turn of events has really exposed those responsible for the reason why Nigeria is finding it difficult to weather the fall in oil prices.

The greedy governors who felt it was better to share the excess crude account instead of working hard towards generating revenue.

This article is about Lagos basically.

The rest of the states in the SW don't add anything significant relative to Lagos.

hakanai:
Am a proud Northern Muslim and its time the Muslim folks particularly the northern ones grow up and begin to see the light. The so call Sheik should also remember that the prophet encouraged Muslims to do charity , to give rather than recieve. Because of its immence blessing. If so why should you always choose to be recieve. It is more rewarding to strive ,making a living and give out in alms to the needy.
We cannot Continue to live this way, always wanting to get without going to find.Again as Muslims that should be just and show fairness, the money generated is from all faiths and not for Muslims alone. In such a case you are not being fair to others residing there that do not share our faith.
The rich folks amongst the Muslim faithfuls and the shiek should start by giving out to the needy. We have enough to go round. Muslim folks can volunteer, after all is an act of ibadah and rewarding to a believer. If the governor wishes to give out of his personal wealth so be it. We as Muslims need to be up and doing.
Lastly for the misguided people who still choose to call Muslims terrorist may Allah grant you enlightenment.
Ramadan Kareem!
Your post has really renewed my belief that there are good Muslims out there who are unbiased in their reasoning.

You couldn't have put it any better.

Buhari has no plans whatsoever for Nigeria.

Time is ticking away.

You have no finance minister.
No economic team.
No petroleum minister.

No health minister
These are the key sectors.

Imagine if the Ebola outbreak occurred now.

This man should just resign If he does not know what to do.
TravelRe: A Town In Anambra State Were Snakes Visits People...(pictured) by eaglechild: 9:40pm On Jun 19, 2015
Python regius is the species found in Anambra.

Python regius is a nonvenomous python species
found in Africa . This is the smallest of the African
pythons and is popular in the pet trade, largely due
to its typically docile temperament.

It is also known as royal
python or ball python . The name "ball python"
refers to the animal's tendency to curl into a ball
when stressed or frightened.
In captivity, they are considered good
pets, with their relatively small size and placid
nature making them easy to handle. Captive bred
adults rarely bite unless severely threatened.

chival:
I am from idemili LG which comprises towns where the python is the recognized totem. I do not condone the practise or support it but I'd like to correct some misconceptions.

1. Not all snakes are revered in Idemili. Only the python (eke) is.
2. The python is the people's totem and not a god. It is not worshipped but revered and believed to be a protector/guardian.
3. The snakes come and go freely like the OP observed, even in my own village/family home, and I believe this largely because pythons are non venomous snakes and secondly, they have come to exist peacefully over so many years with people of the area so neither the python nor the people regard each other as a threat.
You are spot on.

Pythons are non venomous
The species of python found in Anambra is harmless to humans.
It is not the large boa constrictor (heck even the larger python species hardly pose a threat to humans because of their relatively sluggish nature).
Burmese pythons which grow to much larger sizes are popular pets in many parts of the developed world.

It think the positive side of this practice is conservation and control of rodent population which the pythons prey on. I don't care for the fetish aspect and many towns no longer practice the burial rites aspect but they have gotten so used to not killing the pythons.

Presently with increasing emigration into Anambra towns, the python population has been on the decline as many nonindigenes kill it for food or out of fear.
I personally think they should be left alone not because of any fetish reasons but because it is a good conservation practice and they keep the rodent population in check.

This is a very sad situation and the apex of irresponsibility.

Aregbesola has no business in government.
He sat his lazy bottom in Oshogbo waiting for FG handouts instead of investing his allocation and generating income for the state.
PoliticsRe: Osun State GDP Higher than Imo, Abia, Anambra, Enugu & Ebonyi by eaglechild: 12:24am On Jun 18, 2015
lawani:
If your GDP has many sectors and varied economic activities are taking place with no overbearance of any sector, then that's development. It does not always translate to larger GDP. For example South Africa is more developed and industrialized than Nigeria with even a higher per capita income but Nigeria's GDP is bigger. However, someone mentioned here that trading alone covers 40 percent of GDP in Anambra while manufacturing is 20 percent. I don't know the sector breakdown for Osun but reports say Osun is ahead of Anambra by both GDP size and per capita income. I don't know about development.
The basis of this back and forth is that the report is false based on the reality on ground.

Osun state has been unable to pay salaries for 7 months and is presently dependent on food handouts for survival.

How can such a state have a higher per capita income than one that has no debt and has increased wages.

If Osun is making more money (with a smaller workforce) then surely it should be able to pay salaries without any fuss just like Anambra.

The earlier you begin to question the bogus statistics your state government is churning out to make itself look good the better for you. That is what has put Osun in this mess and its citizen in dire desperation.

She simply did the humane thing by stopping to help there is no drama in that.

I am disappointed at most of the comments here. I wanna belive it was kids that commented cos if u re truly matured, ur IQ shouod tell u that she's trying to make a call to the right quarters about the accident. So she should carry the victim on her head? Do u know how delicate the man might have been in? So she went all the way to the accident venue for paparazzi? I cant even believe some of u cant think at all. Its not every accident victim you just carry, think for once or atleast take a crash course on HSE, perhaps that will help
I share your sentiments.

I mean sometimes we should give credit when it is due.

She is probably calling for trained medical personnel to come and attend to the victim(s).

Does Ogun state have an Emergency Service?

Ah well.....I guess carrying the injured might just spark some needed change in the health care sector in Ogun state.

Accident victims must be transported in ambulances.....not private cars.
You are right but they cannot just be left to die in the absence of ambulance services.
