Nigeria is a confused state. The law is selectively dispensed. Where is the equality? Such a dis-honorable man has gone to Mecca. Do do what? |
Finally, the sponsors of Boko Haram are coming out! So this is true that it is more of political fight than religion. Mixing religion and politics is very dangerous. Una go tire very soon! |
Such an uncivilized society. we are not yet ready and mature (organized)to be a nation. |
A very poor Olympic outing for Nigeria. Not even a bronze up till now. CORRUPTION IS A KILLER DISEASE! See how virtually every sector in Nigeria is collapsing like pack of cards. Hmn, things are no longer at ease. The center is fumbling and if care is not taken, Nigeria will fall apart. |
GEJ comment has no racial undertone whatsoever. |
Good effort from the security(JTF) though not enough. They need to work out an intelligent strategy to burst BH once and for all. Let them be on the run. Enough of this madness. |
If this works then like Oshodi miracle, it will be the 8th wonders of the world. Yes, I think it is doable. Lagos is currently a big mess bc of the behaviour and activities of these group of people. An organised transport sector will go a long way in sanitising Lagos.Haba! Why are we dis terrible? |
Honestly, Power has improved substantially in my area. 1-wk of power with like 30 minutes interruptions is a record. Hope it is sustainable. |
Many buildings in Lagos are old and decripit. People living on it are just living on a tip of keg of gun powder...waiting to explode. LASG had not done much in matters of shelter. So much corruption in land ministry. |
Love of money is the root of all evil. Money is made for humans and not vice-versa. What ever a man sow, so shall he reap. |
One of our greatest problem in Nigeria is not about making a beatiful law but in implementing it. The weakest part of Nigeria system is enforcing the law. This is not the first time okada has been banned from major highways in Lagos but after a while the whole thing will collapse. If Fashola men can enforce this law to the latter, then sanity will be restored to our roads. The question is can danfo/okada guys be tammed? Yes, I think we can. Danfo and Okada guys need to be organised; and it is high time we stepped up by banning old and rickety buses from plying major roads in Lagos. Also poorly serviced waste-trucks and likes should be dealt with. What is VIO doing? Transportation in Lagos need to be urgently organised and if this law can bring this to pass, then that's is good. Fashola and the state legislators...well done! |
Nigerian upper/lower legislative chambers are full of dishonourable men. They are just as corrupt as the police and customs. It is only in Nigeria that-the law makers, the law enforcers, interpreters of law, etc all break laws. Just wondering why police is still wasting time but if it's a case of petty thief, he would have been in prison by now. |
Americans got it wrong again. Similar to the allegation that Sadam Hussien had stockpile of nuclear war heads (WRONG). Against all contrary views they invaded Iraq. Hope this is not another ploy to occupy Nigeria. Talking about frustration, is Boko Haram the only frustrated sect or group of people? Frustration cuts across all tribes and religion in Nigeria. So every tribe should vent their anger by killing the next tribe or put in another way, Chiristians should kill Moslems in the name of being frustrated. Carson got it wrong. If the assertion of White House is correct why did Boko Haram not fight the alleged injustice - by killing corrupt government officials. peharps, they would have been celebrated by Nigerians because corruption is a common enemy. But instead they(BH) are butchering Christains and ONLY christians. Boko Haram are simply EVIL. |
If there is clear evidence of culpability/abuse of office, she should be sacked and prosecuted. Being an alumini of havard is not an immunity against corruption. It takes character and persevarance to overcome the lures of corruption in Nigeria. |
What a life! Dana Air has filled our hearts with sorrows! These little kids that lost their lives in such a cruel manner what crime did they commit? Humand beings are cruel. Love of money is the root of all evil. Dana Air should not only be investigated, prosecuted, banned and jailed but be made to pay heavy fine. |
What a record of air disaster! This record is terrible! |
Nothing has been worst than this regime since I began to understand life! |
YES and NO! firstly, Yes! - because not every Nigerian is corrupt as it has appeared to be. There are still very very few ones who are yet to succumb to lures of corruption. Out of these ones, anyone that has leadership qualities can lead but on what platform or system? The system is disfunctional. Secondly, NO! -because there are so many Nigerians who are worst than their leaders but I think 'corruption' is infectious. Our civil service is stinking with unimaginable records of corruption. Almost every sector (including churches and mosques) are under the siege of corruption Finally, We only need to sanitize and change the system and everything will fall-in-place.It is a mutual responsibility between the leaders and followers. Government is not a spirit but human beings. A good leaders can change the system for good and the followers will simply allign. Nigeria is waiting for this miracle to happen but not sure when. Alternatively, the people can change the system by removing bad leaders. Egypt is an example. |
I have pondered on what grounds do people (very few) think that GEJ should continue come 2015. Personally I think GEJ lacks the leadership skills to lead this country and he is very slow to learn and therefore should find an exit before this year ends. From being a Governor to Vice Persident, from Acting President to Substantial President and even Elected President, I thought he had had ample opportunity to learn but I was wrong. This government is a disaster and we should not be punished like this till 2015. The suffering and pains are too much. Let the President and Vice be boothed out and let's do another election. 3-more years is too much to continue in this horrible and harsh environment. What do you think? |
GEJ government is a DISASTER! His actions points in the direction of ineptitude, indolent and lack of will to tackle corruption in Nigeria. In a developed clime, he would been pushed out of the office for 'lack of confidence' to lead and turn thing around for good. US is overtly or covertly telling Nigerians and in deed the oppositions to rise and they would give the background support. Personally I am feed-up with the whole system. Better we dont have government than what we have now. The suffering and pains are too much! However we dont need war rather peacefull dialogue and I think moving in the direction of regional govt will be a kind of first aid and seccession into three countries will be a permanent treatment unless miracle happens and we get someone who will lead effectively even now. As it stands now, I dont even think GEJ need to finish his four years term unless he improves. |
Will call you tommorrow |
Whenever the history of Nigeria is relayed, the role played by T.Y Danjuma would not be forgotten whether in his course of duty as a soldier or in his course of duty as a tribalist- representative of northern cabal. Which ever is the case, he's part of, and beneficiary of the rotten Nigeria system. Killing of a head of state who you are supposed to protect for no reason than to satiate the demands of your northern cabal is difficult to justify. After 50 years, we remained lame and perhaps in a state of coma. Only time will tell whether we will break up or not. The fact is that millions of Nigerians are fed up! |
Nigeria is on a dire strait. Is that how the cookie will crumble! |
Some people are playing with fire! What a shame of a country. International airport! There is sabotage somewhere. PHCN People got no conscience. Shame! Shame! Shame! |
Beatrice and Bluetooth's comments are kind of very very childish! So so out-of-the-point! Back to the post: The British system is very weak in terms of raising respectable and morally sound youths.Power to discipline a child/youth have long been taken out of parents/teachers and the result is youth without orientation and a society under fear.I have ran into these kind of youths before, they can be deadly. Of course, when the marriage institution is in shambles, you will expect the system to breed...lots of disoriented children/youth! |
Lovely piece, though you dont have to blame the Southerners alone on this. This mistake started from the colonial masters who lumped everyone together. While some ethnic groups (mostly from the South) have over the years been able to distinguish themselves from the rest. The impression that we get from the north is that they are ONE politically, culturally, language and religion-wise. And Boko Haram (Haters of Western Education) have not helped matter as well as your Northern Leaders.I can only judge/stereotype you by your actions and nothing else. The North likes political power so much, more than anything and the instant it slipped out of their hands, they have not ceased from unleashing mayhem. |
HNosegbe: I have never disagreed with the economics of subsidy removal-No country can afford to subsidise imports for son long. The problem is, subsidy removal in Nigeria is first and foremost a political issue. As far as the average Nigerian is concerned, subsidy removal means increase in prices, increase in prices means further punishment. And it doesn't help that our "leaders" are so extravagant and wasteful in their spending. Its gonna be tough convincing Nigerians that the country is in dire straits financially.SPOT ON! THE LEADERS SHOULD BE IN FRONT AND THE PEOPLE WILL FOLLOW. AS SIMPLE AS THAT! |
I like this line...'Nigeria is a child. Gifted, enormously talented, prodigiously endowed and incredibly wayward. Being a Nigerian is abysmally frustrating and unbelievably exciting.' Unfortunately, Nigeria is dying! With the way things are going presently, am not sure Nigeria will last for the next generation to see. If care is not taking it will soon be history! |
Disaster! Everyday, multiple bad news from Nigeria! |
Ibadan — Five out of fifteen pupils of a private primary school in Ibadan who were involved in a school bus fire on Wednesday have died at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan where they were initially placed on danger list. The pupils from Divine Wisdom Group of Schools were rushed to the Emergency Unit of UCH on Wednesday morning, having sustained varying degrees of burns when the bus in which they were being conveyed to the school located at Amosu locality in the Lagelu Local Government Area of the state suddenly caught fire. The tragedy had occurred at Iyana-Church area of the Oyo state capital that fateful day. It was reliably gathered that immediately the incident occurred, some of the children, whose ages ranged between five and eleven years, were taken to different nearby private hospitals at Iyana-Church area, while 13 others whose conditions were believed to be critical were rushed to the UCH where they were instantly placed on oxygen. Informed sources said that eight of the pupils suffered shock as a result of the incident. However, an unofficial report revealed that as at 12 noon on Thursday, five of the kids on admission at the UCH had been confirmed dead by the hospital management. Many of the parents of the victims including relatives and sympathizers were sighted at the Emergency Unit of the hospital monitoring the health of the kids while the vicinity of the hospital itself was virtually turned to a mini-church as people were seen praying earnestly that God should intervene in the quick recovery of the children. It will be recalled that the children were enroute their school on Wednesday morning after having been picked at their various homes when tragedy occurred midway as the school bus suddenly caught fire, leaving majority of the children with varying degrees of burns. Shame! Shame! Shame! A snake will always give birth to a snake. NPF is a clear image of 21st century Nigeria...A malfunctioning system. When will all these end? |
This is a pathetic news. Why are Igbos still in the north? Is life not worth more than money?Igbos should leave the north in droves and let BH start killing themselves. Why should Igbos remain the sacrificial lamb for this wicked Nigeria. Governors in Igbo States should wake up and mobilize the return of their sons and daughters from the North. What are they waiting for? Their people in the north needs help and would need to be rehabilitated when they touch eastern land. Where are the Rochas and Chimes' of this world? Your people are dying... BH is senseless and wicked. They should borrow leaf from the Malian Taureg rebels who just seceeded from Mali. They simply took control of their own area of influence and didnt bother to go south b/c it is not in their agenda. But for BH, we dont know what they want. Purely criminal behaviour but it is just because we have a weakling as a president otherwise, it would have been fire for fire. Enough of all these nonsense. Igbos in this nairaland should mobilize and sensitize their people in the north to come back home or alternatively awaken these sleeping governors who cannot read the handwriting on the wall... |
